Jy moet maar seker maak van jou feite voordat jy begin klappe uitdeel... Elke dorp het 'n ou wat soos 'n bul gebou is en net soos een rondloop. Jy erken hulle aan daardie T-shirts met spreekwoorde soos "Hung like a donkey" Onse bul is verskriklik jukkerig en sorg dat daar elke week 'n gewillige koeitjie is wat op die rugbyveld van die jukkerigheid ontslae kan raak. En sodra bul 'n paar doppe weg het, dan wys bul vir die hele wêreld watter koeitjies al in die se kraal kom kuier het. Bul was toe heel onbewus dat 'n ander bul (kom ons noem hom Bonsmara) wat nooit rerig kom dop drink nie per toeval aan die einste koeitjie wat laaste in die kraal kom kuier het gebonde was. En 'n dop maak van enige bul 'n SUPER BUL! En daar pak die twee mekaar.... Daar word geslaan, geskop en getrek en bier bottels word gebreek... Maar soos dit maar met sulke dinge in sulke plekke gaan is die fight opgebreek en Bonsmara besluit toe maar om Bul se Isuzu bakkie te panelbeat. Duisende rande se skade... En Bul kan nie verstaan hoekom Bonsmara so kwaad is en hom wil dood maak nie! En toe word die fight facebook toe gevat... Die posts het vir ure aangehou totdat Bonsmara besef het hy't 'n groot fout gemaak! R32313.44c om presies te wees! HOEKOM? Want daar is meer as net een koeitjie in die dorp met dieselfde naam! Klitsie verstaan Bonsmara gaan nie meer vir 'n dop nie en dat nou geen Isuzu bakkie Saterdae aande op die rugbyveld staan nie...

If you want to know if you are also suffering from a social media addiction, I will explain the world of the addict and also list a few of the biggest no-no’s this week. If you have any difficulty abstaining from these, then it is time to check in at social media rehab (lock yourself in your room). As it is with any other addiction, you really have to throw yourself into it. You cannot do this right with the commitment of a Kardashian marriage. But unfortunately; there are certain times and circumstances where you will have to draw a line. OFM said it best: Don’t drive while “intexticated”. When I first heard Success say that line, I thought that she was intoxicated while broadcasting. But then I realized that this was a new campaign against texting while driving. It has happened to all of us (the addicts). You look down to send a quick one-liner and only look up again after doing a complete Facebook status update. And when you realize you are not driving on the road anymore, but in a farmer’s crop field, then this is where step one of the rehab program begins for you. Step one: Admit that you have a problem. Don’t text while talking. Everyone knows that horrible feeling when falling victim to “the dead eye”. The dead eye is the look you get when you are trying to have a conversation with someone and they are looking you straight in the eyes while their fingers are typing away on the cell phone. I am ashamed to say that I have given and also received the dead eye before. Step two: Abstinence. Restaurants: Never sit at the table feeding your social media addiction instead of your face... unless your blind date is also doing it. Step three: Acceptance.

Meer as 1 000 boere en polisiebeamptes werk saam in die Vrystaat

Die eerste blou/witlig-operasie vir 2016, wat die polisie in die Vrystaat in samewerking met georganiseerde veiligheidstrukture aangebied het, word as ’n groot sukses beskryf. Die polisie se topbestuur het verlede jaar tydens vergaderings met die VKB/VL Veiligheidslessenaar en Vrystaat Landbou (VL) se Wet en Orde Komitee onderneem dat dié provinsiale operasies elke twee maande sal plaasvind. As deel van die Landelike Beveiligingstrategie vind wit/blou lig operasies eerstens op plaaslike vlak tussen polisiestasies en boere plaas, en verskeie gebiede in die provinsie het reeds hul eie operasies in plek, of is besig om aksies te beplan. ’n Totaal van 731 boere het met 462 voertuie aan die operasie regoor die provinsie op Donderdag, 28 April 2016, deelgeneem, terwyl 386 polisiebeamptes met 186 voertuie aan diens was. Die operasie het van 18h00 tot middernag plaasgevind. Daar is spesifiek gefokus op misdaad in landelike gebiede soos eiendomsverwante misdade, veral veediefstal, alle ander diefstalle insluitend skroot-, koper- en kabeldiefstal asook ernstige en geweldsmisdade
wat plaasaanvalle insluit. ‘n Misdaadpatroonontleding wat oor ’n lang tydperk opgestel is, het aangedui dat die meeste vee- en algemene diefstal op Donderdae plaasvind, derhalwe is die operasie op ’n Donderdag uitgevoer. Beplanningsvergaderings tussen boere en elke polisiestasie wat deelgeneem het, het die operasie voorafgegaan. Die lessenaar is tans bewus van verskeie suksesse rondom veediefstal en ander misdade wat aangeteken is. Tommie Esterhuyse, voorsitter van VL se Wet en Orde Komitee, sê baie goeie samewerking heers tussen VL, veiligheidstrukture en die polisie in die provinsie. “Dit is ons beleid om deel te wees van die oplossing en om as landbougemeenskap ’n verskil te maak wat veiligheid in die platteland betref.” VL se veiligheidstrukture vergader op ’n gereelde basis met die provinsiale polisie se topstrukture om beter samewerking te bespreek, en volgens die VKB/VL Veiligheidlessenaar se statistiek word meer suksesse behaal waar boere en die polisie saamwerk. In 57% van die 79 plaasaanvalle wat verlede jaar
in die Vrystaat plaasgevind het, het boere met die polisie saamgewerk en is verdagtes aangekeer. Die aantal aanvalle vir 2016 staan tans op 15, en in vyf van dié voorvalle het boere en die polisie saamgewerk. In al vyf die voorvalle is verdagtes aangekeer. Tommie sê dit is van uiterste belang om die proses verder te bevorder. Volgens hom werk VL se strukture ook baie nou saam met die polisie se intelligensiedienste, wat ook tot suksesse bydra, soos die voorkoming van ’n plaasaanval by Heilbron in April 2016. Nog ’n sukses is die arrestasie van drie polisiebeamptes en ’n munisipale beampte weens veediefstal in die Koppies-distrik verlede week. Deur middel van uitruiling van inligting op verskillende vlakke tussen landbou en die polisie se strukture, is die verdagtes aangekeer na veediewe die distrik vir jare lank geteister het. Tommie sê ’n oopdeur-beleid bestaan tussen VL en die polisie se strukture te alle tye vir enige voorvalle, en die organisasie wil graag hulle dank uitspreek teenoor die polisielede wat hard werk om plattelandse gemeenskappe veilig te hou.

Niemand sal kan keer dat die Bybel se inhoud mense verander nie, niemand sal kan verhinder dat dit verkondig word nie, niemand sal kan verhoed dat daar nog en nog kopieë gedruk word en dat dit in al hoe meer tale vertaal word nie. Die woord staan vir altyd vas, dit sal nie vernietig kan word of ooit ongeldig verklaar kan word nie. Maak jou hart oop sodat die Here sy woord ook in jou hart kan inskryf, sy suiwer silwer kan deponeer, sodat dit nuwe lewe en nuwe hoop vir jou kan gee, sodat jy ook daarvan kan uitdeel oral waar jy gaan. ~ Wilna Botha

NATIONAL Tekkie Tax Day has been part of the South African calendar for the last few years and this time around it will be celebrated on Friday, May 27. This campaign gives you the opportunity to show with your feet where your heart lies. Choose your sticker for a cause close to your heart, spunk up your tekkies with a funky pair of our Tekkie Tag shoelaces and you are ready for National Tekkie Tax Day. The campaign started in 2013 when a few of South Africa’s biggest and most accountable welfare organisations joined forces. Marieta Kemp, Director Social Services from the SAVF says: “The large number of welfare organisations involved helps us to keep the costs’ structure low
and this will ensure that the maximum of donations can be used by us to deliver our services on grass roots level.” There are 11 national beneficiaries and they represent more than 1 000 local non-profit organisations: Epilepsy SA, Child Welfare SA, SOS Children’s Villages, CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation), Special Olympics SA, CANSA, Imisebeyelanga Services, Meals on Wheels, VVA (Vrystaat Versorging in Aksie), NG Kerk Welsyn and SAVF (SuidAfrikaanse Vrouefederasie). Since it’s inception in 2013, Tekkie Tax has raised more than R13,7 million and the impact on ground level is remarkable. Gary Westwood, Director of Epilepsy SA in the Free State and North West province says; “We used our Tekkie Tax donations in serving persons with epilepsy and other disabilities in our residential
care facilities.” Imisebeyelanga Services used their Tekkie Tax donations to purchase tables and chairs for some of their early childhood development centers. Samaritan’s Feet SA bought shoes for the needy. The list is long and these are only a few examples of how the donations were utilised in the past. The stickers (R10 each) are available at all Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores. The Tekkie Tag shoelaces (R35) are available from all Clicks stores. There are also more than 250 participating non-profit organisations selling these items and together they aim to convince every South African to be part of the fun.
