All medicines must be taken to the school office. Staff will only administer medicine prescribed by a GP with written authorisation from the parents. Medication such as inhalers or epi-pens are kept either in the classroom (EYFS and Lower School) or held centrally in the school office. Children in Year 5 and 6 are encouraged to take responsibility for their inhalers and epi-pens and carry them with them.
Children who are prescribed an inhaler or an epi-pen may not leave the school site to attend a school trip or a match without their inhaler or epi-pen with them. The school has universal inhalers that may be used in case of emergency with parental permission. The school is unable to administer ibuprofen.
First Aid
All staff hold a certificate in emergency first aid. Children who are unwell or injured are taken to the medical room. In addition to this the school have staff with specialist paediatric, sports and first aid at work qualifications.
