PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Over the past few years, there has been a lot of hearsay and speculation about a golf course project due in large part to recurring standing water on a number of golf holes resulting in damage to the fairways During that time, the Board, the management leadership team, the Golf Course Task Force and the Finance Committee have invested countless hours of research and analysis to address the water drainage problem. That included meeting with experts in environmental engineering, private country club consultants, golf courses with water drainage issues, and golf course contractors With all of this input, the Board determined that a major golf course project is necessary to mitigate the problem and protect the course for future decades

At our last meeting, the Board reviewed and approved a Future of the Golf Course presentation for the May member focus groups to educate Members about the proposed plan and encourage essential feedback The plan includes various funding scenarios and possible enhancements to other club amenities designed to benefit all RBCC Members across all Member categories

I strongly encourage ALL RBCC Members – both voting and non-voting members – to sign up to participate in the focus groups and also to read all communication regarding the Future of the Golf Course

This initiative will require a vote by Stockholding Members and an assessment of all Members in all categories. Once the feedback from the focus groups has been considered, a finalized plan –including detailed education about the plan, the assessment and the voting details – will be communicated in early June There will be opportunities for Members to ask questions before and during the voting period

The Board of a private club like RBCC has the responsibility to past, present and future Members to continuously evolve by maintaining and caring for all the facilities. In 2020, our Clubhouse underwent a major renovation We owe a debt of gratitude to the Board, the club leadership and the membership at the time for taking on that project As a result of their efforts, we all now enjoy a beautiful Clubhouse with multiple dining areas and places to socialize both inside and outdoors

I would like to thank the Golf Course Task Force led by Ed Brown and the Finance Committee chaired by our Treasurer John McCooey. It has taken a deep dedication and a considerable and sustained commitment of time to compile and evaluate the entirety of information related to mitigating the golf course drainage problem and to tackle the in-depth financial analysis

necessary to build funding scenarios. The decision to move forward with this project was not taken lightly Collectively, everyone involved with the project acknowledges the monumental risk of not moving forward with the project and the long-term consequences that it would have on the entire Club and the Members’ investment in it.

I am asking each of us to think about our role in ensuring we have a golf course that will be here for us and future members for decades to come Until everything is finalized, to help you learn more and to be as up to date as possible, please visit The Future of the Golf Course website and do not hesitate to contact me, any Member of the Board, or our General Manager C Chereches with your questions or comments.

May arrives with a welcome sense of energy and anticipation at RBCC a month that truly sets the tone for the season ahead After a long and stubborn winter that seemed reluctant to loosen its grip, we’ve finally begun to enjoy glimpses of warmer days While spring’s arrival has at times felt sudden and uneven, it brings with it the promise of a vibrant and active club calendar that’s full of opportunities to gather, celebrate, and reconnect.

The month begins in style with Kentucky Derby festivities on the first weekend, followed closely by Mother’s Day a cherished occasion to honor and celebrate the special women in our lives As we move through May, the calendar remains full with both Member events and weddings, leading us to the excitement of Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of summer. Alongside these signature events, many of our June and July programs will open for registration this month, so we encourage you to keep a close eye on your inbox and mark your calendars early for what promises to be

GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE

a memorable season. While the warmer weather is certainly welcome, it has also presented some challenges across the property. Our grounds are gradually catching up the flower beds are still finding their bloom, and parts of the golf course, particularly the back nine, are just beginning to awaken. A few projects have experienced delays due to the extended cold, including the reconditioning of the pickleball courts. We are optimistic that work will begin next week, weather permitting, allowing Emma and her team to bring the Racquets program fully into stride.

At the same time, we are pleased to report significant progress in several key areas. Over the past few weeks, our team has successfully completed tidal gate improvements, greens and fairways aerification, underground piping work between ponds on holes 10, 11, and 12, and a variety of springcleaning initiatives Patio furniture has been refreshed or replaced; tennis courts have undergone their annual maintenance, and the pool is now almost ready to welcome Members back.

Behind the scenes, staffing remains a major focus as we prepare for the busy months ahead. Our team will grow from approximately 100 to more than 200 seasonal staff members, and we are working diligently to recruit and reengage our outstanding Talon Tribe to ensure the high level of service our Members expect and deserve.

One project that will not move forward this season is the planned expansion of the pool deck After careful consideration, the decision was made to postpone construction rather than risk an incomplete project during peak usage. While we share in the disappointment, we are confident this decision best supports the overall member experience this summer

On a positive financial note, while final audited results are still pending, preliminary reports indicate that RBCC closed the fiscal year on March 31 with strong performance. We look forward to sharing more detailed updates with the membership in the near future.

By now, you should have received the 2026 Member Handbook, easily recognizable by its bright red cover. We encourage you to take a few moments to review it, as it contains valuable information to help you make the most of the season ahead.

You have also likely seen increased communication regarding several important long-term initiatives as RBCC moves into its second century. Chief among these are the golf course project and the broader Strategic Plan and Master Facilities Plan. While both efforts are equally important, they serve distinct purposes and are being advanced through separate, thoughtful processes.

In April, 75 Members participated in GGA’s strategic focus groups led by Henry DeLozier. The insights gathered from those sessions have been compiled into a report that will inform an upcoming strategic survey to be distributed to the entire membership. These results will ultimately guide updates to our Strategic Plan later this year.

In May, attention turns to the Future of the Golf Course, with a series of focus groups designed to engage Members across all categories in meaningful discussion about the project’s direction and next steps. Your participation in both efforts is essential, and we strongly encourage you to take part and share your perspectives.

As always, we welcome your questions and feedback “Coffee with C” this Saturday at 9:00am offers another opportunity for open dialogue, and we hope you will join us

With Memorial Day just ahead, we stand on the threshold of another exciting season one that marks RBCC’s 101st year and coincides with our nation’s 250th birthday. It is a time for reflection, celebration, and community

Here’s to a memorable May and an exceptional season ahead We look forward to celebrating it together

C's Poem of the Month

"May, queen of blossoms, And fulfilling flowers, With what pretty music Shall we charm the hours? Wilt thou have pipe and reed, Blown in the open mead? Or to the lute give heed In the green bowers."

FUTURE OF THE GOLF COURSE

FOCUS GROUP SIGN UP

As the Golf Course Task Force enters Phase Two of the Future of the Golf Course initiative, the Board and the Leadership Team hope to count on your assistance with the crucial Member Focus Groups specific to the Future of the Golf Course. Before a decision on funding, which will likely include an assessment across all membership categories and use of cash reserves, the formal vote, and then the critical education necessary for the membership to understand, we need to hear from you to fully grasp what you think. Please help your Club and sign up for a focus group so you can learn more, inform us with your thoughts, and ask questions about the Future of the Golf Course. Your input will help us solidify the final structure of the plan.

CAP PATROL

We are pleased to announce that beginning with the 2026 season, all Member tournaments will utilize CapPatrol CapPatrol assigns each player a Cap Score, which is an internal metric the system uses to evaluate the consistency of a player's scoring history relative to their established handicap

This score is not a handicap-it is simply a monitoring tool CapPatrol uses to help identify potential anomalies or irregular scoring trends. No action is required from members; CapPatrol works automatically using your existing handicap data For all member tournaments, any player whose Cap Score is below 40 will have their handicap adjusted for that event, in accordance with CapPatrol's recommended guidelines. Our goal is to provide the most transparent, consistent, and fair tournament experience possible. We believe that implementing CapPatrol will help ensure integrity across all competitions in the upcoming season
