wide green, and with the flag positioned to the left of the green, some golfers were forced to play safe and aim for the right side or the heart of the green. The 9th hole on the South Course is another Royale stand out. The long par 5 has several obstacles that the golfer must consider. The resident Australian professional Adam Taylor emphasised the importance of positioning from the tee box, as the tee shot requires a carry over water towards finding a thin fairway. The water runs all the way from the tee box to the green some 600

meters away and the waiting majestic clubhouse behind the green. There is also a water passage to carry which forces one to ponder the length of the lay up and will make muscles tighten slightly when considering going for a crack at the green in two. The view towards the club house and green with the vast expanse of water on the left and the looming clubhouse is a site to remember long after the round ends. The hole plays 565 metres from the back tees and only the longest of pro players reach the green in two during the masters.

It has been two years since Mr. Lee Hwa Soo first spoke with Registry Indonesia and in that time the KEB Hana Bank Indonesia has reached new heights amid challenging Indonesia’s economic condition. To nourish its presence in Indonesia, KEB Hana Bank instills continuous improvement, whether in services, products, employees and partnerships. In the second half of 2017, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo has led the Bank in relocating KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s Headquarter to spacious new building in the main Central Business District in Jakarta. Registry Indonesia had an opportunity to visit KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s new headquarter at 11th floor of the lofty new office complex Mangkuluhur City. Our team was greeted right away by the ever-smiling receptionists in green who would then took us to meet Mr. Lee Hwa Soo himself in his room. Wearing his favorite batik shirt, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo was just as enthusiastic as we were to share his story with Registry Indonesia Magazine’s readers. As we began to chat about Jakarta’s traffic that day, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo unhesitatingly poured us a cup of tea, adhering to the true values of eastern hospitality. “We came to Indonesia back in 2007. Looking back, we started very small. At the time, we acquired Bank Bintang Manunggal who was at 121st position from 125 banks in Indonesia in terms of assets.” Growing strongly and steadily over the past 10 years, KEB Hana Bank Indonesia is now one of the most prominent 30 banks in Indonesia – hence one of the fastest growing international banks in the country. President Director and CEO of the bank since 2015, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo is optimistic that KEB Hana Bank will keep on moving forward towards its goals in the near future. “By 2020, we’re targeting to be one of the top 20 banks in the country in terms of asset,” said Mr. Lee Hwa Soo. Despite that, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo affirmed that KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s main focus remains on giving the best banking experience to its customers. “In regard to our motto, we aim to become The Best Customer Focused Bank in Indonesia,” told Mr. Lee Hwa Soo gently “I remember upon my arrival in Jakarta, I had to wait one and a half hour in line to open an account at

a local bank. The transaction time in Indonesian bank is really slow. That’s why, one of the main elements of our service is speed,” he said. Mr. Lee Hwa Soo believes that the root of this problem is the inefficiency in our banking culture. “They have to write down everything – names, for instance, could be long and so the spelling could be incorrect, and so on. At KEB Hana Bank Indonesia, we’ve been formulating certain schemes to make sure our customers experience a speedy transaction. One of the methods is by adopting OCR system that could convert immediate file to text file. This way, mistakes could be avoided and transaction time could be shorter,” added Mr. Lee Hwa Soo. To further prove their commitment, KEB Hana Bank’s now promising a 5-minute transaction, symbolized by a sandy hourglass. Customers who find themselves spending more than 5 minutes while doing their transaction at any of KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s branch would then be “rewarded” with cash. “Our ultimate mission is to save our customer’s precious time by providing a speedy, secured, and smooth transaction.” Beside speed, another point addressed by Mr. Lee Hwa Soo is convenience. For the past few years, KEB Hana Bank Indonesia has been developing an Internet and Mobile Banking system to facilitate its customers’ ever growing needs in this digital era. The functionality is ensured to be very easy, simple, and smooth in accordance to their motto “Anytime, Anywhere, Whatever Service”.To further prove its commitment on going digital, KEB Hana Bank Indonesia also provides a full Wi-Fi service for everyone the moment they walk into KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s headquarter or any of its branch offices. while the industrial average was at almost 3%, with a net profit of over 742 billion Rupiah and Return on Equity of 12.9%. Another noteworthy milestone from last year was KEB Hana Bank Indonesia’s big move to the brand new mega complex of Mangkuluhur City. Surrounded by staples such as Plaza Semanggi, Crowne Plaza Hotel, as well as prominent universities, hospitals, and residences, one could argue that Mangkuluhur City is currently the most strategic office building in Jakarta. “The choice of Mangkuluhur City is pretty evident. Not only it is strategic, it is also very accessible, as it stands only a few meters from the Semanggi Interchange, it is also a part of an integrated business and lifestyle complex with Crowne Plaza Hotel, the future Regency Hotel, residential buildings, as well as shopping center Plaza Semanggi,” added Mr. Lee Hwa Soo. KEB Hana Bank’s currently occupying 9 floors of Mangkuluhur City; the first consecutive three floors which are open for public for business and transaction, as well

as the office area from the 9th floor to the 15th floor. Despite being very modern, one would feel the warmth of home walking into the office. “This office was designed by one of the best interior design company in Indonesia. We also asked them to put some touches of Korea within the harmony of the design.” Not only it’s visually appealing, the design is also very detail-oriented, down until the rooms. We could see, for instance, that the meeting rooms on the upper level are named after the stars, and then mountains, waterfalls, down to lakes and rivers for those on the lower level, forming a spatial philosophy based on natural elements. As for 2018, KEB Hana Bank Indonesia still stands firm with their target on becoming the Best Customer Focused Bank in Indonesia by successfully launching a wealth management product for its customers. Even though the net profit is predicted to be stable, a minimum of 20% increase on volume is to be expected.

In his third year as President Director, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo is getting more optimistic of KEB Hana Bank’s growth in Indonesia day by day. Came to Indonesia in 2012, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo is convinced that Indonesia is a country of potentials with a lot of opportunities. That’s why while other Korean banks try to do their business with mostly Korean people and business in Indonesia, KEB Hana Bank decides to grow with local customers. Another factor of KEB Hana Bank’s welldeserved success is that is position as a US Dollar Lending Provider. “We get capital investment from Korea as well as deposit, that makes our position in the market comfortable, as approximately 40% of our loan is in US Dollars. Almost all conglomerates and big companies in Indonesia today have transaction with us,” stated Mr. Lee Hwa Soo affirming his bank’s position in the country. Another factor that benefits KEB Hana Bank’s performance in Indonesia is the fact that it’s a rather efficient organization, hence decision making is more efficient and takes less time. This is beneficial mostly for the customers as they don’t have to wait so long while applying for loans.

When asked about the character traits and principles that have brought him thus far, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo responded with humility that everything is due to luck. Another determinant factor that writes his success is the fact that he’s an early bird. “I’m very lucky to have been working for Hana Bank since its founding days in 1991. Hana Bank’s anniversary is also the anniversary of my entire career”. Another thing is that he’s also very diligent, dedicated and hardworking. Mr. Lee Hwa Soo, who’s fluent in several languages, including Chinese, Japanese, English, and a little bit of Indonesian, also told us the philosophy he lives by in his career life, as taught by a senior, “Don’t work for your company, but work for yourself.” That is the spirit he’s executing here in Indonesia. As the President Director, Mr. Lee Hwa Soo constantly reminds his employees that they are their own heroes at KEB Hana Bank. The humble businessman who enjoys golfing on his free timealso believes that whenever there’s a conflict between the company’s interest and the customer’s interest, it would be best, without any doubt, to stand by the customer’s side.

Men’s Grand Complications – Retrograde Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5160 (in collection since 2016) has a new version, Retrograde Perpetual Calendar, with new engravings on the case, lugs, the crown, the center of the dial, the hinged cover and the clasp. The new model Ref. 5160/500G-001 will replace the existing Ref. 5160R-001 first launched in 2013. The new perpetual calendar with a retrograde date hand in an Officer’s style case is a Patek Philippe tribute to artisans who master rare handcrafts. The center of the dial, the white-gold case, the hinged cover, the lugs and the clasp are lavishly decorated with manually executed engravings inspired by a pocket watch that belongs to the Patek Philippe Museum’s collection.

Louis Cartier revolutionised watchmaking by inventing the first purpose-designed modern wristwatch for Santos-Dumont. Created in 1904, the wristwatch was the product of experimentation by two visionaries and friends, Louis Cartier and Alberto Santos-Dumont. Their respective discoveries and projects were inspired by movement, one horological, the other aeronautical. They were to dictate new behaviours and a relationship with the time that ushered in the modern age. In the age of engineering, at the dawn of the 20th century, its revolutionary design and usage echoed the spirit of speed and progress. Its distinctive aesthetic symbolised the modern era.

In updating this timepiece, the design studios focused on comfort, intelligent proportions and respect for the Santos aesthetic. The square shape remains unchanged. It echoes the refinement and symmetry of Parisian geometry of the era, as extolled in the four angular corners of the Eiffel Tower. In giving preference to straight lines, this transgressive shape represented a break with traditional rounded watch shapes. Also unchanged are the eight screws on the bezel, this functional hardware is a miniature tribute to the proliferation of mechanical steel structures associated with a golden age of urban architecture. Here, Cartier dared to display a functional element that had been hitherto

RICHARD MILLE Horological Artwork The Richard Mille brand’s approach to watchmaking has always centred on releasing the watch from it restricted role as a mere tool for timekeeping, augmenting and extending its visual potential. Hence timepieces make full use of three-dimensionally arching spaces and volumes. Accordingly, Richard Mille collaborated with the street artist Cyril Phan, (aka Kongo), in creating a contemporary horological artwork, the RM 68-01 Tourbillon. The entire front and back of the mechanism’s interior have been transformed into riot of airbrushed, rainbow-like hues, and since this includes all moving parts, the watch is a kinetic painting, constantly changing visually as it tells the time.

CHANEL EYEWEAR Fall 2018 Eyewear Collection This season it comes as a butterfly version and square version with softened angles. In acetate engraved with the iconic quilting, the frames are threaded through with a gold, silver or ruthenium metal line. Completed by wide temples stamped with the double C, they are a full-blown fashion statement, supported by a chromatic range inspired by autumnal colours: brown or green tortoiseshell, black, brown, dark blue and dark burgundy. Marcel Wanders designed the Globe Trotter collection for Roche Bobois, inspired by the legends of inventors and fabled adventurers. Choosing the Montgolfier brothers, creators of the hot air balloon as the emblem of the collection, he wanted to celebrate these explorers and collectors of rare objects, impassioned by nature and the cosmopolitan cultures discovered in the course of their journeys. The mythical places and characters found on these fantastical voyages through space and time are the framework for this eclectic collection. “This collection is a tribute to the adventurer we all dreamed of being. A journey is a transformative experience, and we wanted each piece to capture

the feeling of bringing home worldly treasures from far away places”, says Marcel Wanders. The heart of the collection is a large illustrated fresco which alludes to a magnificent voyage to a wonderland, embellished with the novel characters of precious childhood. Dubbed the world’s leading and largest international footwear exhibition, MICAM Milano impressed and excited the audiences from across the globe at its 86th edition that took place on 16-19 September 2018 at Rho-Fiera trade fair centre in Fiera Milano in Milan, Italy. In general, MICAM, which debuted in 1951 and holds every February and September, represents

These include a preview of the award-winning Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” which tells the story of a young shoe manufacturer who manages to save the family firm from financial ruin. The story is closely associated to the footwear world. It’s an enthusiastic portray with the protagonists refereeing to the footwear exhibition as the culmination of their efforts to enter the international fashion market. Prior to the event, Registry Indonesia, had the opportunity to chat with Dr. Alessandro Liberatori, the director of Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in Jakarta, a government organisation that also functions as Trade Promotion Office of

the Italian Embassy; Dr. Matteo Scarparo, head of business service of Italian Footwear Manufacturers Association; and Jess Tang, trend expert from WGSN (the World Global Style Network). WGSN is known as the world’s leading fashion trend consultation firm that plays a significant role in MICAM. The three made their presentations in front of the Indonesian footwear business players at Shangri-La Hotel last June. “MICAM is basically a business platform, with the main goal showcasing footwear manufacturers to the world’s audiences so that they can expand their business opportunity not only in the local but also international market,” Mr. Liberatori said. “The event is open for worldwide players. We’ve been analysing and collecting data for the past few years, and we have noticed that South East Asia is a huge potential to be exploited. We are now looking to buyers from

this region, of course including Indonesia as the South East Asia’s largest economy. Indonesia is the biggest potential in the region, and that’s why we’re here now,” Mr. Scarparo said with an exciting gesture. Mr. Scarparo further explained about the association where he plays a leadership role. The Italian Footwear Manufacturers Association is a profit trade entity that gathers footwear manufacturers. “Only those that manufacture footwear, not those that sell or market it. All the profit that we work on, including organizing MICAM, goes to the association,” he said. Asked why should footwear business players participate or visit MICAM, Mr. Scarparo asserted, “First, to keep updated about market and fashion trends, to see what the world competitors do as you will see almost over thousand of brands from Italy, Spain, Brazil, Japan, just to name a few. Second, to find possible partners to promote their business. This exhibition will feature an area that is called International

Mr. Liberatori added that South East Asia is still an untapped market for shoes made in Italy. “The problem is only big fashion brands that present in Indonesian market. What many Indonesians don’t know are we have more than 4,700 manufactures in Italy, including those independent brands that also manufacture shoes with high quality.” He asserted that Indonesia could be the important market for Europe. “Indonesian and Italian government are in the middle of negotiating further bilateral relationship, not only Italy but also European Union. I hope in the next couple of years the agreement will be signed in, thus it will be much easier for European market to access Indonesian market and vice versa.”

Mr. Liberatori went on saying that the current market situation has been positive. “It has been growing in the past few years. Basically there’s a positive bilateral trade balance. We’ve been exporting goods worth 1.5 billion euros in the past one year and Indonesia has been exporting goods worth1.6 billion euros.” Speaking of MICAM, Mr. Liberatori added that the exhibition is a great platform to share the knowledge and information that “the advanced technology has played its crucial role in designing and making high-quality Italian shoes. We have outstanding machinery and equipment. The use of technology in manufacturing footwear in Italy can be stretched back to the 17th century.” On a separate time, Jess Tang from WGSN shared her company’s role on MICAM with Registry Indonesia. “WGSN and MICAM have been in

collaboration for a few years. WGSN provides trend direction for MICAM, and the information that we provide is particularly useful for MICAM’s partners. This way, they are able to get the updated information and understanding on what currently trends in footwear industry.” Ms. Tang, who is based in Hong Kong office of WGSN, adds that what her company does is to pick the hints and the very specific pieces of news, information and trends in order to give shape to MICAM in terms of lifestyle. “There are more or less 1,400 brands that we have to group and cluster according to the fashion trends.” She explained that each year they have different themes, and for Summer/Spring 2019 they have three main focuses: common ground, emotional design and creative manifesto. “The first focus, the common ground, is driven more onto sustainable design. That’s the need that is strongly demanded in consumer market. The second, the emotional design, is derived from feelings. Some of the designs are more about mood as well as enhancing colours and textures. The last one, the creative manifesto, is a more political driven theme. It’s about protesting. It’s the style for those who want to be different, want their voices to be heard. Fast forward to today, La Prairie Skin Caviar Collection has expanded into over a dozen of products. “What makes La Prairie’s caviar line different from others from different brands is our Exclusive Cellular Complex, which was developed by our original doctor, dr. Paul Niehans the Swiss man who discovered La Prairie,” Niki Yuri Na, La Prairie’s general manager, distributor market Asia, says in an exclusive interview with Registry Indonesia. Niki was in a short visit to Jakarta to share the extraordinary new formula of the brand’s masterpiece. “We first introduced the caviar line in 1987. With the use of advanced technology and meticulous researches, the Caviar Extract used in the Skin Caviar Collection has ever since evolved into various types such as Caviar Water, Caviar Absolute and now Caviar Premier.” 3 products from caviar line have extraordinarily remastered with Caviar Premier. “It took years of research and hundreds of formulation trials before we eventually launched this remastered product,” she says referring to the new products as an innovation in the world of beauty. Why remastering something that has already a masterpiece is a question that might arise from many people who care about beauty products. In response to this query, Niki says that remastering a masterpiece is something that has to be done very carefully. “Because masterpiece is something that people view it as an extraordinary. In the case of La Prairie’s masterpiece, it means that our customers are already very happy with it. So what we did was enhancing the masterpiece. We never say it’s a new cream!” Caviar collection, as she continues, is a line that also fits for Asian customers because Asians generally have much more concern about luminosity. “We indeed conducted a lot of extensive researches involving Asian

women. Brightening the skin is not only the preference of Asian women, but it is now also becoming a beauty trend in the West. We don’t aim particular collection for this race or that race. We’re not like that. Even our products also fit for men, and we see increasing number of male customers.” Niki also talks about the availability of La Prairie various product lines. “Everyone has different need with different solution” she further explains. Furthermore, Niki says that La Prairie does not target certain age groups. “It really depends on customer preferences. We really focus on the needs of customers because the condition of your skin today may be different next week. There are some factors that can be the impact. Perhaps you need to brighten your skin because you work long hours. At another time, you may need to lift up your skin a bit more, and you need different lines. Our strategy is to listen to the customers’ needs and we will come up with the solutions that are suitable for them.” No less interesting is the design of the La Prairie’s masterpiece, as she continues sharing with us on the story behind it. “There’s a French artist named Niki de Saint Phalle. She’s very famous for her sculptures and paintings featuring snake motifs. She worked with La Prairie more than 30 years ago on a project, in which a lot of her art pieces are evolved with cobalt blue. That’s why we have cobalt blue jar. The jar itself is not easy to make. It took us 18 months just to produce the packaging.” Niki has been in the beauty industry for 12 years, and joined La Prairies 4 years ago. In her current position, she oversees markets in Taiwan and South East Asia. “There 6 countries altogether: Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. Taiwan is very similar to Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. The market in Singapore is very dynamic. Indonesia is very unique because your retail environment is not the same as other countries where you have a lot of department stores. But here, as you can see, this is the La Prairie’s biggest boutique in the world,” she asserts referring to La Prairie’s flagship boutique on Jalan Hang Tuah Raya, South Jakarta.

Purpose-Driven Life

Surabaya-based businesswoman Ms. Uci Flowdea leads a busy life. Her wood-exporting business, which was based in Pandan, Pasuruan, East Java, has lucratively grown including having the company’s focus on exporting the wood products to China. She established the business from scratch in 1996 and now it employs around 150 staff. In an interview with Registry Indonesia, she speaks about striving for a work-life balance. Ms. Uci says that she has three primary focuses in her life: work, church services and family. She admits that despite her busy schedule, her main focus right now is on her spiritual and personal lives. “I’ve been working for 15 years, my focus at this moment is the future. What I meant by the future is more into spiritual than material. I have had enough of what God has given to me in terms of wealth, and I always thank God for that. Now, it’s the time for me to build a stronger future with a peaceful and happy life,” Ms. Uci says. “My kids are grown up now, one is studying in the United States and one is in Taiwan. At this point in my life, work is no longer my number one priority, there’s no end to work. Right now I spend 30 to 40 per cent of my life on personal matters like serving God, finding new hobbies such as photography and spending more time with my two sons,” she adds. From chatting with her, one can tell that Ms. Uci is an independent woman who is committed to everything that she does and she is always grateful for her life and puts God as her spiritual guidance. Her devotion to her faith is not just limited to praying and going to the church, In the recent years, she released a gospel album called Pemilik Hiduku (The Owner of my Life) and distributed 2,000 CDs to other churchgoers for free. “I don’t look for profit from this album, I just want to please God,” she says. “God has helped me a lot and He never asks for material things but what He wants is our hearts. I thought to myself

what other ways that I could do to please God and through my prayers, God provided me with the opportunity to sing gospel songs, hence the six songs available in the album.” She is thinking about releasing a second album. According to her, the songs are ready and she only needs to find time to do the recording step. Through distributing her CDs, she receives a lot of invitations to speak and perform at churches. Other activities that she also enjoys are hosting regular religious gathering at her house and she also makes sure to spend some time visiting underprivileged people and charities. The latter activity is her way to share her fortune with other people. She is never picky when it comes to helping people and visits anyone who is in need of her help. “I’m not affiliated with a specific charity, they usually call and invite me to come to their places,” Ms. Uci explains. Another thing that she also likes to do is travelling. As a businesswoman, she constantly travels for meetings or formal gatherings. She visits Jakarta often and regularly travels overseas either to visit her sons or for holidays. Her recent excursion was to the United States where she explored a number of cities such as New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. “I’m also taking some time off for some quality time with my kids. In the past we only travelled once or twice every year, but now we can travel and spend time together more often,” she says. Apart from all the fun that travelling has to offer, going to different places has more meaning to Ms. Uci. By witnessing different cultures and meeting with people who live in different parts of the world, she witnesses how great God’s creation is and it also serves as a reminder for everything that the higher being has given to her. “My life used to be about work, I worked hard and never had the time to enjoy the result of it, so right now is the time for me to give thanks and enjoy the result of my hard work,” Ms. Uci says.
