WITH THE WESTSIDE RESTAURANT AWARDS GETTING EVER CLOSER, THERE’S ONE VITAL CATEGORY STILL IN THE BALANCE – AND WE NEED YOUR HELP. ith just a matter of weeks until this year’s much-anticipated Westside Restaurant Awards, competition is hotting up in the region’s eateries. Our judges are out and about, busily debating the merits of restaurants across Sheffield and North Derbyshire in various categories – including the coveted Westside Restaurant of the Year. But there is one extra special category where our reviewers take a backseat – The Westside Readers’ Choice Award. We know you have strong opinions when it comes to dining out; now we want to know what your favourite restaurant is. The Westside Readers’ Choice award cuts across all boundaries. Whether your favourite restaurant is a fine dining venue, a classy café or something in between, all votes are equal. Last year, readers voted for Casanova – the much-loved Crookes Italian restaurant that has been a popular part of Sheffield’s suburban dining scene for many years. Owner Salvo Ilardi was thrilled to win the approval of Westside readers and to receive confirmation that he was striking a chord with the people who matter most – the paying public. Our readers are a discerning bunch and we are always impressed by their comments and the wide range of dining establishments that

capture their imaginations. In fact, the announcement of this particular prize is always a highlight of our evening. Voting is free: simply go online to www.rmcmedia.co.uk/events/awards/ westside and let us know where you have enjoyed eating out most over the last 12 months. All entries will go into a prize draw, and one lucky winner will receive dinner for two at their favourite restaurant on us. All votes must include a home address and contact details; multiple entries from the same email address will be disqualified. The closing date is Wednesday 17 May so be quick, and don’t miss your opportunity to cast your vote. For the owners and hard-working staff of all the nominated restaurants, our awards dinner is an opportunity to celebrate the excellent range of dining out venues on our doorstep. These are the longest running and most prestigious dining awards in Sheffield and North Derbyshire. The winners will be announced at our glitzy awards ceremony at Baldwins Omega on Monday 5 June, which promises to be a great evening. So make sure you have your say on the final outcome and cast your vote now. There will be a full preview in next month’s Westside when we will name the shortlisted restaurants in all categories.
