apphire is one of the bestknown gemstones, treasured throughout history and remaining a popular choice today. Although it is most commonly thought of as a blue gem, it is actually far more colourful than that, with sapphire being the name given to the mineral corundum when it is any colour other than red (red corundum is known as ruby). And when we say any colour, we really mean it; the gem forms in a wide range of hues including pink, yellow, orange, green, purple, and even with no colour at all.
Corundum is formed from the elements aluminium and oxygen, and in its pure form is colourless (this variety is commonly referred to as white sapphire), although few examples are truly so. Tiny traces of other elements give the mineral its colour. For example, the presence of iron and titanium can produce the blue that sapphires are so famous for, while the addition of vanadium to the mix can cause a purple hue.

Peak Wellness Health & Medispa opened after an intense four-month renovation that has seen a former butcher’s shop transformed in a tranquil oasis of calm. The neutral palette of the interior is accented by lots wooden features, including a gorgeous furniture and an abundance of foliage creating a calming atmosphere. Soothing music plays from the integrated music system.
“It’s been quite the journey over the last few months and I’d like to say a really big thank you to everyone who has helped out,” said Chelsea. “Especially Tim Shepley and Blue Ladder Home – Alastair, as well as who have all been amazing.”
Chelsea, an independent nurse prescriber, worked as an emergency nurse in the NHS
before making the move into aesthetics, something she has always held a strong interest in. She is NMC registered and a member of British Association of Cosmetic Nurses and is already working towards ensuring the spa is CQC rated.
“I want to look after my clients in a holistic manner, enriching their mind, body and soul,” she added. “But I will always do this in the safest possible way using the highest quality products.”
The spa has six purpose-built treatment rooms and will be offering a range of treatments covering aesthetics and skincare, massage and laser therapy, as well as nails, beauty and health.
Chelsea specialises in aesthetics such chemical peels, facials, IV drip therapy, laser therapy for tattoo removal, hair removal, vein removal and skin pigmentation concerns with a state-of-the-art machine. She will be joined by beauty therapist, Ellie, who will offer beauty services such as waxing as well as advanced micro-needling.
Brand-wise, Peak Wellness Health & Medispa will be working with NOON aesthetics medical grade skin care and Galderma and other local businesses such as
HUK Aesthetics. HONA – hypoallergenic, HEMA-free nail systems that prioritise the health and safety of both nail technicians and their clients – will also be on offer.

FFor this group of women, quite a lot actually. They are currently rehearsing a musical to be performed at the Lyceum Theatre in November called ‘The Band’. This is an original story including the music of Take That and centres around a group of 16-year-old girls, obsessed with a boyband W simply known as ‘The Band’. We e then jump 25 years later and see these girls as women, how they’ve changed, what life has dealt, and how they try to recreate their youth by coming back together to see ‘The Band’ one more time.
For these four, the friendship they have shared over the last
,py 20 years or so, solidify the characters they play on stage, giving them immediate chemistry and making this production a show not to be missed. “Getting to be part of a show with your friends is just a magical experience” says Gina Holmes, whom the story centresaroundasthecharacterRachel. “WWe e are having so much fun, it doesn’t feel like rehearsals at all, just having a good giggle with friends!” It’s a certainty that this camaraderie will spill over the footlights and into the Lyceum theatre every night, especially with the amazing, uplifting music of Take That to steer the touching story on.
They even went as far as the Peak District, Bamford Edge to be precise, to re-enact a scene from the show where the four friends go to any heights and lengths to support their favourite band and each other.
