Discover your parks: park spotlight

sntsk’il’ntən – Black Mountain Regional Park

A 640-hectare regional park on the eastern slopes of Kelowna, sntsk‘il’ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park was created through the collective efforts of the Regional District of Central Okanagan, Westbank First Nation, and the Province of British Columbia. Featuring stunning views, extensive hiking trails, and conservation areas for the critically endangered grassland ecosystem.

Park at the Joe Rich Road trailhead and hike the sntsk‘il’ntən or Summit Trails or park at the Swainson Road trailhead and hike the Ephemeral Pond or Hoodoo Trails – and prepare to be amazed!

Park hours: June 1 to August 31, 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Quail weaving art workshop

Join local artist Annabel Stanley for a creative workshop inspired by the beauty of the Okanagan Valley. In this hands-on session, you’ll design and build a wire armature (frame) and weave your own sculpture using willow. Annabel has created a unique quail sculpture to celebrate the California quail, a familiar sight in our Regional Parks and gardens.

All materials are provided, along with non-alcoholic refreshments and a charcuterie board. $50 per person. Registration required.

Go Fish

Introduce your children to the joys of fishing! Children can try their hand at fishing until June 15 at the Hall Road Pond and Shannon Lake, both stocked with trout. There are fishing rods available to borrow and staff to teach beginners. No fishing license is required for BC youth aged 15 and under.
