Mary Treder Lang - President Dear Regina Family, I pray this note finds you healthy and safe. While our students, faculty, and staff have been our priority through the closure of the last academic year and the reopening this new academic year, I want to relay to our beloved Alumnae community my thanks for the encouragement, prayers and financial support you offered. Given all the unknowns about the pandemic, including the length of the crisis, this year’s Regina spiritual theme sums it all up as we move “Forward in Faith.”

During a recent school mass, Father Joe Gembala from St. Malachy Parish spoke on our spiritual theme. He spoke how faith is a continuous journey with someone greater than we are. That someone is Jesus, whom we desire to have a personal relationship. He said how our faith is the journey through life in which we take the struggles and triumphs with the Lord. It helps us to discern in our world what is beneficial in our lives and what to avoid, seeing Christ in all people that we meet and it helps us to lead to an everlasting life.

During this pandemic, we have heard people say, “We are all in this together.” This rings true in a very particular way where we are called by Christ to be His arms and feet. Let’s go out to encourage, to pray and to love those around us.

Emily Frikken '09 - Alumnae Relations Director Dear Regina Alumnae, Once again we find ourselves at the beginning of a new school year, but as I am sure you imagine, the start has been quite different than years past. But even though we may not be able to actually see their smiling faces under their masks, we can still hear their laughter filling our hallways.

I have watched many Regina traditions be postponed or rescheduled, and as a Regina Alumna, I begin to appreciate my experience as a Saddlelite even more. I look back and smile thinking of my first game, passing notes with my Big Sister, celebrating my class at Sophomore Day, receiving my Junior Ring, and of course, uniting with my class on the Powderpuff field. Regina's experience is truly one of a kind.

As Alumnae Relations Director, I have been trying to find ways to engage the Regina Alumnae Community as much as possible. I am first excited to announce that with the help of Rosemary Wagner Michels '04, our STEM Director here at Regina, we have started "A Day in the STEM Life" series. Alumnae can make videos that are designed to expose current students to a variety of careers and college opportunities that exist. It also allows Alumnae to give back to Regina by donating their time and expertise. Students are able to see that the STEM skills they are building in high school, such as problem solving, collaboration, communication, and critical analysis can be applied to any career or program.

In this issue of The Reginite, I'm also proud to announce Regina's first 40 Under 40 series where we celebrate 40 successful Alumnae who have strongly distinguished themselves in their career paths since graduating from Regina. I hope you read the bios to see what these extraordinary women have accomplished as well as how Regina helped them get to where they are today and what their favorite memories of Regina are.

In the past year with everything that has gone on, I have never been more grateful to be part of the Regina Family.

A Day in the STEM Life A Day in the STEM Life gives current Regina students a preview of what happens on an average day of Regina alumnae in their career or college! Videos are designed to expose current students to a variety of careers and college opportunities that exist. It also allows alumnae to give back to Regina by donating their time and expertise.

Red Lights vs. Saddlelites

The first annual Red Lights vs. Saddlelites Charity Softball Game was a huge success!

On Thursday, August 6, the City of Warren Fire Department traded in their fire gear for sports attire, ball, bats and gloves and square off with our Regina High School Alumnae, who traded in their saddle shoes for softball cleats! The roster was set with almost 20 Regina Softball Alumnae, ready to take the field as Saddlelites once again. Coach Diane Laffey led the team as always and threw out the first pitch.

Tickets to the game sold out, and both teams kept the game fun and competitive. In the end, the Warren Professional Firefighters Local 1383 took home the trophy, but the Saddlelites will be ready for next year! Thank you to all those who came out to show support and cheer on their team.

At Regina, we are so very proud of our Alumnae who achieve great success following their years at Regina High School, and we want to recognize, honor, and celebrate some of our most successful graduates. With that, we are excited to publish a special edition of The Reginite to recognize these forty Regina Alumnae in our first 40 Under 40 series.

These Alumnae have been nominated for distinguishing themselves in their particular career path. This list includes marketing executives, business owners, lawyers, doctors, architects, educators, tax and insurance professionals, national government workers, and so many more. What unites them? All of them explain how a Regina educational experience helped them get to where they are today.

Regina’s mission is to transform girls into young women of faith and vision, and we are very proud of what these 40 Alumnae have transformed into.

Kara Agby '13 Partnership Marketing Coordinator - Detroit Lions HIGHER EDUCATION: Central Michigan University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Kara graduated from Central Michigan University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Applied Arts in Integrative Public Relations, with a minor in Psychology. During her time at CMU, Kara was a Sexual Aggression Peer Advocate, co-chair of the Homecoming Committee, a resident assistant in Emmons Hall and an orientation mentor. Prior to completing her degree, she interned with Special Olympics Michigan on their development and events team working to foster sponsor relationships and drive revenue for the non-profit. Upon graduating, Kara accepted an internship with the Detroit Lions events team where she assisted in all operations for Ford Field events including concerts, Lions game days, and the Quick Lane Bowl.

Following her internship in 2019, Kara was brought on full-time as a partnership marketing coordinator for the Detroit Lions. Her primary role focuses on executing corporate partnerships, fostering relationships with key contacts, and bringing specific brands to life through the power of the Detroit Lions.

Kara currently resides in Detroit and takes pride in being a movie buff who will never turn down a recommendation for a new binge-worthy show.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My experience at Regina is something I will always hold close to my heart not only for the knowledge gained in the classroom, but for the experiences outside of the classroom as well. From participating in multiple sports, to finding life-long friends, my experiences at Regina shaped my character and helped me become a driven leader for my future career.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory was playing basketball and softball all four years, and the connections I gained through both those experiences.

Danielle Turo Atkinson '05

Branch Partner - Michigan Insurance and Financial Services HIGHER EDUCATION: Macomb College - Associate of Arts (Business Focus) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Danielle found her love for insurance after working in the service industry since she was at Regina. After leaving State Farm, she began working at Michigan Insurance and Financial Services (MIAFS) based out of Utica, MI. She quickly climbed the ranks as being one of the top agents in the company, which has several locations in and out of Michigan. She was made an agency partner in May 2015, just prior to giving birth to her third and youngest child. When given the opportunity, Danielle and her husband moved to Gaylord to open her own office for MIAFS. Since opening the office, she has expanded to now having five employees - all women, ranging from all ages and located all over Michigan.

In 2016, she began an intense specialized training program seeking the insurance designation of a Certified Insurance Counselor. This program consisted of 5 classes, all requiring extensive work and high percentage passing requirements. Each student has only 5 years to complete the course, while Danielle did it in just 3. She was awarded this very rare and prestigious certification in July 2019, which has only been achieved by a small percentage of insurance agents nationally; she is 1 of 2 at her agency.

Over the years, Danielle has hired women, most with no prior insurance knowledge or background, and helped them get their State licenses and trained them. She currently has five full-time staff (one is a mother of a Regina Alumna) and most of them mothers themselves - whom she allows to work from home so they can balance their work & home life. She also provides them with upfront work contracts/benefits, established 401k accounts that she contributes to, so they can have a solid future coupled with employer commitment to become as successful as they can be, both for themselves and their families.

She currently has over 900 clients and manages over $3 million. She is extremely hard working and truly dedicated, not only

with taking care of her clients and her employees, but her family too. She is also a wife to Paul, and mom to Dominic (9), Wesley (6), and Mackenzie (5). Her father who nominated her said, "She hasn't measured her success by her growth, but how happy and successful everyone around her is. She has not lost sight of her Christian values to treat others with respect, dignity, trust, love and compassion."

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My education at Regina prepared me for the professional world. From composing letters or presentations for clients and coworkers, to being organized and having the drive to be successful in all aspects of my life. It’s hard to put into words all the skills I learned at Regina that I implement in my daily life—but there are countless. A lot of my success is a direct result of my time and experiences while I was there. I’ll be forever grateful for that.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite memory is for sure Powderpuff. From the practices to the game. All of it in between. I had a lot of great times and memories playing sports, being in activities and being with my classmates.

Meghan Sweeney Bean '04 Assistant United States Attorney - Eastern District of Michigan HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Notre Dame, B.A. (2008); Notre Dame Law School, J.D. (2011)

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Meghan graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science and History. She then attended Notre Dame Law School and graduated in 2011. After graduation from law school, she spent one year in Santa Fe, New Mexico as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Paul J. Kelly, Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. From 2012 through 2016, she was an associate in the Issues and Appeals practice group in the Chicago office of the international law firm Jones Day, where she drafted motions and appellate briefs, and conducted white collar investigations.

In 2015, Meghan married her husband Brett, also a Notre Dame Law School graduate, and they moved from Chicago to Detroit. She continued to work in Jones Day’s Detroit office until 2019.

In 2019, she began her current role as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan. Meghan has also been on the Board of Directors of Regina High School since 2018.

Her proudest and best moment, however, was the birth of her sweet daughter (& future Saddlelite), Georgia Grace in July 2020.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina provided me with an excellent, faith-centered education in a supportive environment. More importantly, the all-girls format helped instill confidence in me and helped me form lasting friendships with women (and their families) who remain my closest friends.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memories include playing basketball, volleyball, and softball with my dear friends, being coached by Ms. Laffey, and winning the softball State Championship my senior year.

Karolina Biernacka Braun '08 Senior Agency Account Strategist - Google HIGHER EDUCATION: Wayne State University

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina, Karolina attended Wayne State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Communications.

Since graduating from Wayne State, she worked almost eight years for Red Bull as a Project Manager, Field Marketing Specialist, and Marketing Manager.

She has been at Google for the past two and half years, currently working in strategy and sales as a Senior Agency Account Strategist.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My years at Regina molded me into the person I am today. Regina instilled in me a strong foundation of empathy and the important skill of communication that have guided me throughout my life. The friendships and network I formed during my years there have lasted my lifetime for which I will be forever grateful.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory has to be looking forward to Tuesday chicken sandwich days. The craze of chicken sandwiches may have swept the nation last year, but Regina will always have the original.

TeQuion Brookins '08

Director of Operations - McGregor Fund HIGHER EDUCATION: College of Wooster

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: TeQuion currently works at the McGregor Fund, a private grantmaking foundation located in Downtown Detroit that funds charitable organizations committed to alleviating chronic homelessness and unemployment in the City. After being appointed as McGregor’s first director of operations, she became the foundation's youngest and only African American employee to ever hold a director-level position.

In addition to her work at McGregor, TeQuion has also founded several social enterprises including a business consulting firm specializing in start-up assistance for small, women and minority-owned entities. During the pandemic, she has developed several new businesses including a sanitizing company to help make indoor spaces safer as well as a plant-based food business to help others transition to vegan diets. She self-published a professional development workbook in 2018 entitled "The Guide to Balancing Chaos & Career," which achieved recognition as a top read by many prominent organizations its first year.

TeQuion earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the College of Wooster with a minor in Africana Studies in 2012. She received dual master’s degrees in Finance and in Business Administration from Walsh College of Business and Accountancy in 2018.

In 2019 she founded The Minority Freedom Community Fund, a national nonprofit with a mission to improve the lives of African Americans and minorities, and serves on the board of two international charities. She is a 2020 recipient of Crain’s Detroit Business’ 20 in Their 20s award and was recently nominated for Corp! Magazine Michigan’s Most Valuable Millennial award.

She's involved in many philanthropic and civic organizations/initiatives including: The Michigan Nonprofit Association, National Black MBA Association, Detroit Chamber of Commerce, Association for Black Foundation Executives, National Small Business Association’s Leadership Advisory Council, Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Technology Affinity Group, and many more. She now lives in Southfield, MI with her partner Erron and two dogs Choco and Baby.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina laid the foundation for three of the most important qualities that I attribute all of my accomplishments to: faith, hard work, and time management. My faith has been instrumental in helping me apply for opportunities, face difficult situations with grace, and provide compassion and love to all people I interact with. The concept of sacrificing “fun” to prioritize schoolwork definitely came into practice during my college studies and developing my businesses. Lastly, the Regina agenda taught me the essentials of time management and project planning at a young age. These skills are crucial when balancing 30-40 affiliations, businesses, and clients while maintaining a personal life. My calendar app on my phone has served as my high-tech version of the agenda for over a decade.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory will always be our senior class’ pep rally for our Powderpuff game when our whole class ran in and did the soulja boy dance in the gym. (We also won Powerderpuff thanks to the awesome athletes in our class).

Dr. Diana Harper Carlson '00

Internal Medicine Physician - DMC Huron Valley Sinai Hospital HIGHER EDUCATION: Wayne State University (BS); ATSU- Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After obtaining her BA in biology from the Honors Program at WSU, Diana matriculated through medical school at ATSU Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to intern at Oakwood Southshore Hospital in 2009. The next year and a half was spent in Cleveland, Ohio, as a research fellow in translational medicine at Case Western Reserve University where she ran a clinical trial with an investigational drug and laser therapy for psoriasis.

In 2018, Diana moved home to Michigan and adopted her two young nieces who needed a new stable home. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at DMC Huron Valley Sinai Hospital, finishing in 2014, after the birth of her third daughter in 2013. She is married to a wonderful man that has always supported her academic and professional pursuits. She went on to have one more daughter in 2016.

Diana has spent the past six years as a full-time private practice internist on clinical teaching faculty at DMC Huron Valley Sinai Hospital. She splits her time between the hospital and the clinic. She has the opportunity to directly supervise internal medicine residents and medical students on internal medicine rotations at the hospital. She also runs a residential internal medicine continuity clinic in addition to her regular clinical duties. She was honored to be named "Teacher of the Year" for 2020 as voted by the residents.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My educational experience at Regina was invaluable. I learned organization, time management, confidence, and the importance of attention to detail. My coursework was rigorous, but enriching. Our teachers had high expectations and pushed us to produce our very best work. I developed time management skills juggling my school work and volleyball. The all-girls environment allowed better concentration and fostered rich and kindred friendships. I was well prepared for college and medical school when I graduated with the class of 2000. I am certain my confidence and leadership

was nurtured at Regina. I was an outspoken voice at the beginning of the Sars-Cov-2 pandemic - trying to warn others of the gravity of the situation. This year, more than ever, we are called to speak the truth. Ultimately, my faith in Christ has carried me along my journey and is at the heart of my call to medicine. Life is busy, but rich and full of blessings. Juggling a family and career brings me joy. Each day, I hope to share the love of God in every action.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: The best part of Regina was the friendships. Long before text messages, we passed notes, folded in a nicely tucked triangle, decorated lockers for birthdays, and made each other mix-tapes of music. We went to dances, football games and parties. We laughed and cried together. Now, we continue to share our lives and remain best of friends. I am forever grateful for my friendships with Nicole (Gawlik) Labut, Elizabeth (Bilbrey) Gray, Jodie (Young) Hefel, Lisa Kepler, and so many others. I cherish countless great memories at Regina and wouldn't trade my time there for anything.

Dr. Renee Cholyway '09 Resident Physician - Virginia Commonwealth University HIGHER EDUCATION: University of St. Francis, BS in Biology, minor in Chemistry, minor in Visual Arts; Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, MD; Virginia Commonwealth University, current student for MS in Clinical & Translational Sciences PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Renee matched into Virginia Commonwealth University's General Surgery residency program in Richmond, and was awarded the VCU Department of Surgery 2017-2018 Intern of the Year Award. She also earned several grant awards including the Thoracic Surgery Foundation: Southern Thoracic Surgical Association Resident Research Fellowship Grant, and the American Medical Association: Accelerating Change in Medical Education Innovation Grant. She has also published research articles including "Passing the Virtual Tissue: Tips and Tricks for Breaking Bad News Using Virtual Communication"; "Pseudocyst of Pancreas Transplant Allograft, a Rare Complication"; "Clinical and Cost Comparison of Two Trial of Void Methods after Outpatient Midurethral Sling Placement" and more.

She is currently involved in many surgical research projects that include describing a model for murine heterotopic heart transplantation; exploring optimal temperatures and perfusion solutions to protect heart tissue for transplantation; identifying the years of training required to become most efficient for aortic surgery cases based on patient outcomes and complications. Other achievements as a Physician include lecturing at the VCU School of Medicine to present cardiac surgery cases, and raising over $1,000 for cancer research by racing the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Writing skills gained at Regina were instrumental in reaching the next steps in my career; writing a solid personal statement and concisely yet clearly describing a research goal is invaluable. Drama Club transformed me into a woman of fearless self-expression, empowering me to comfortably present in front of large audiences for conferences and lectures. Friendships made at Regina last a lifetime. Those girls are my go-to when I have been defeated by a rough day, which as a surgery resident, is often. Running at Regina developed discipline and time-management skills to train for long-term goals like pursuing a career in surgery, an estimated 13-18 years of education and training after high school.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: There are too many favorite memories, but one of the best was enjoying lunch with my girls and trying to figure out how the sisters made the ultimate Regina lunch SO delicious: those chicken sandwiches, ranch dressing and French fries, and a chocolate chip cookie.

Christine Constantino, Jr. '03

Associate Attorney - Norman Yatooma & Associates, PC HIGHER EDUCATION: Wayne State University; Thomas M. Cooley Law School PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Since Regina, Christine obtained a scholarship to Wayne State and graduated with a BA in Political Science. Following undergrad, she was assaulted by a police officer and endured a public, painful, five-year battle pursuing justice. Ultimately, the officer was convicted and jailed. The horrific ordeal spurred her into her legal career. She attended Thomas Cooley Law School and then went to work for Norman Yatooma & Associates, P.C. She is currently in her fifth year of practice with NYA. In these five short years, she already has occasion to serve as one of a three lawyer trial team who achieved the largest judgment in the state of Michigan in 2018 ($13.1m - St. Clair Intellectual Property v Rader, Fishman, & Grauer); chaired a multi-week arbitration hearing against a large commercial art corporation in San Diego; authored a winning brief before the Michigan Court of Appeals, resulting in a published opinion (8/13/2020 Tinsley v Norman Yatooma & Associates, P.C); represented Congresswoman Karen Whitsett in a civil rights lawsuit against Governor Whitmer (voluntarily dismissed); and litigated against Proctor & Gamble, resulting in a settlement.

In July 2019, Christine was involved in a near-death accident that left her skull in pieces and resulted in a traumatic brain injury. She refused to give up. With the help of God, her husband, family and friends, and her boss, she worked hard to heal (four titanium plates and twenty-two screws later) and recover. She came back to work full-time in January 2020, and took on her first solo trial shortly thereafter. She won.

Christine says she became a lawyer to bring a voice to those without one. While her career centers around commercial litigation, her boss also runs a charity, which assists families of children who have lost a parent - Yatooma’s Foundation for the Kids. As a result, she is able to do pro bono work to give back to the community and help those who are economically unable to engage competent legal counsel. She looks forward to what she will achieve in the years to come and credits Regina for not only providing her with amazing education, but for fostering a strong moral compass within her that has set her apart in her profession.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: It was a shock for me to discover how many women cannot work well with other women.

Regina taught me how to work well with women, which in the business world, is a huge strength. By having that ability, I've been able to motivate and lead others in situations where others may have chosen a different and less effective path. As an attorney, I am privileged to teach the many interns and clerks at NYA. I mentor them the way I was mentored - both at Regina and throughout my career. I even refer to some of my interns/clerks as "my littles" (a play on the Regina Big/Lil Sis Program).

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory was performing in the Show Boats. I was in the 1999, 2002, and 2003 events at Regina.

Nicole Nemitz Cortis '06 Cancer Research Lab - Michigan Center for Translational Pathology HIGHER EDUCATION: The University of Michigan; Eastern Michigan University

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina High School in 2006, Nikki played softball for The University of Michigan from 2007-2010. During her four-year career, she earned 3 All-American Honors (2008, 2009, 2010) and was named to the Big Ten First Team all four years (2007-2010). She was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and the Big Ten Co-Player of the Year in 2010. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with a BS in Physical Education with a minor in Health. She was drafted in the 2010 National Pro Fastpitch League’s first round to the Chicago Bandits, where she competed from 2010-2013. In her first season, she was named Rookie of the Year.

While playing professionally, she proceeded to coach softball at The University of Michigan and pursued her MBA at Eastern Michigan University, which she received in 2016. She transitioned to the Director of Softball Operations at Michigan, a position she held until 2018. She currently works in a cancer research lab at The University of Michigan, the Michigan Center for Translational Pathology.

Nikki is married to Regina Alum, Rachel Cortis, and together they have two sons, Charlie and Noah.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: While at Regina I gained the confidence to be myself. The teachers and staff allowed us to explore and learn in the safest environment and taught me to trust myself and my instincts.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I had so many great times at Regina from winning state championships, playing in powderpuff, and pulling pranks. My favorite memory would have to be all the Coach Laffey quotes from basketball and softball practices and games. Coach Laffey made practices and games tough but fun which is not an easy task.

Cassie DiLaura '11

Co-Host / Producer - ET Live at Entertainment Tonight HIGHER EDUCATION: Syracuse University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Cassie DiLaura is making a name for herself in the entertainment industry by being a co-host & producer for Entertainment Tonight’s “ET Live.” She produces and hosts shows and daily segments covering breaking news reports and other entertainment news, including interviews with top celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson and many more. In her position at ET, she has also covered multiple red carpet events such as the CMA Awards, GRAMMYs, and show recaps for EMMYs, Golden Globes and the Oscars.

Cassie’s previous entertainment includes being a social media producer for Fox; host/producer for CelebTV; production intern for E! News (which included being a personal assistant for Giuliana Rancic); production associate for NBC Olympics in Sochi; and production intern for Ann Curry at NBC News.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Simply put, if it weren't for the opportunity to take a Journalism class at Regina High School, I would not have made the decision to pursue the career I have now. Once I was set on pursuing a career in Communications, my academic advisor at Regina was extremely helpful in assisting me with narrowing down the top Journalism schools to apply to, which led me to Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Looking back at my 4 years at Regina, my favorite memory and what I am most grateful for are the friendships I made. To this day, I am still very close with my group of girlfriends from high school and it is such a blessing. Even though I live across the country now in Los Angeles, whenever I am home, we always make time to have our girls nights and spend quality time with each other. Whether I was in New York for school or now California for my career, my friends have made trips to come see me too! Their love, support and encouragement means the world to me and it all goes back to Regina!

Lauri Eisen '02

Macomb County Project Manager - Department of Planning and Economic Development HIGHER EDUCATION: Siena Heights University - Bachelor of Business Administration; Wayne State University - Master of Business Administration

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After college, Lauri started her career in marketing working for three different companies, all in different industries. She expanded her knowledge and experienced a range of marketing tasks and projects that all prepared her for her current position as Project Manager for Macomb County in the Department of Planning and Economic Development. Within her first few months, she was asked to co-chair a committee to help celebrate Macomb County’s bicentennial. Their challenge? To develop a 200mile torch relay for 200 runners that included stops in all 27 of Macomb County’s communities. She was able to run the last leg with the final relay team and was greeted by cheering crowds as they entered downtown Mount Clemens just in time for the city’s annual fireworks celebrations. It is one of her favorite projects.

Other notable assignments have included coordinating the county’s annual Macomb Business Awards, Manufacturing Day, and other projects to help market County Executive Mark Hackel’s “Make Macomb Your Home” campaign. She has also played a key role in helping launch Ford Next Generation Learning program at both Romeo and Center Line High Schools. Romeo's was the first in Michigan.

Outside of the office, she helped find and currently co-chairs “City Sneakers,” a running and walking group based in Mount Clemens. They meet every Tuesday for a walk or run and then enjoy dinner and friendship afterwards at different restaurants around town. They are more than just exercise; they give back to the community. They adopted a flower garden in the city and volunteer at local running events. She is proud to say that in 2019, they were selected as one of the Top Five running groups in the region by Hour (Detroit) Magazine.

Most recently, she has been directly involved in COVID-19 relief efforts. She was asked to lead the team responsible for distributing $70 million in federal CARES Act to aid small businesses. Working with local business leaders, they developed a plan to distribute funds through several distinct programs including Small Business Sustainability Grants, Workplace Safety Reimbursement, Online Business Connect, job training grants, support for agricultural producers, nonprofit organizations and several others.

As part of the plan, they developed criteria for each program; a universal application; created and launched a marketing plan and then managed the review process to ensure that needed help was provided to businesses in a timely manner. To say that this was a monumental task is an understatement. The work has been hard, but they persevered with the knowledge that they are on the frontline helping to save Macomb County’s economy.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: I never would have thought four years at Regina would have such a big impact on my career. Regina developed the soft skills necessary for me to help me be the leader I am today. It laid the foundation for time management, my strong work ethic, problem solving and the ability to communicate and be patient, while working with a range of different business leaders and employees. Most importantly, Regina encouraged me to stand up for what I believe in, even if it is not the most popular decision. Lastly, one of the greatest feelings of graduating from Regina is when I am working with business leaders through Macomb County and we get into conversation and I find out they are a fellow Regina Alumna. The level of respect, understanding and trust instantly increases. Yes, we learned history, math, science, etc., but what I learned at Regina, you cannot find in a textbook. Thank you Regina for laying the foundation for who I am today and the leader I have become.

Dr. Rebecca DeWitt Emiah '08

Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology - Emory University HIGHER EDUCATION: Grand Valley State University; Michigan College of Optometry PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Rebecca went on to receive a double major at Grand Valley State University in Cell & Molecular Biology and Biomedical Science.

She then received her doctorate degree from the Michigan College of Optometry and now is a practicing eye doctor. Dr. Emiah then completed a residency in ocular disease/ocular and refractive surgery through the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. She now is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. She serves her community by volunteering for events, such as World Sight Day helping serve the underprivileged population performing eye exams on patients who cannot access eye care.

She mentors Emory undergraduate students who wish to pursue a career in ophthalmology or optometry. She also teaches both medical students and residents on the human eye, performing eye exams and the study of physical optics. She also presents research and case studies at both regional and national meetings regarding novel care that is performed during her clinical time.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina helped lay my path for success by preparing me for college and giving me the academic foundation that was needed. I felt very prepared for my future endeavors and studies after leaving Regina. I also gained the important sense of serving others and giving back to my community.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Favorite Regina memory is hard to choose! I loved so many things about the Regina experience

including the annual talent show, putting our shoes out for St. Nick, big and little sister events, but my favorite of all would have to be winning our powderpuff game!

Sarah Fioritto '14

Tax Consultant - Deloitte Tax LLP HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Detroit Mercy - Bachelors of Science in Business Administration & Masters in Business Administration PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: At the age of 23, Sarah has worked hard to earn a Bachelors in Business Administration (BSBA) in 2018 and graduated with her Masters in Business Administration in 2019. She stood as the President of the University of Detroit Mercy's Business Administration Student Advisory Board. She recently just passed her CPA exam in September of 2020. She completed two internships at Deloitte Tax LLP while in college, in addition to Quicken Loans, Talmer Bank, American Axle & Manufacturing, the DMC, and Fioritto & Associates.

She has been practicing as a tax consultant at Deloitte Tax LLP for the past year in Multi-State Tax. She has also engaged herself in various nonprofit activities, such as Accounting Aid Society, Focus HOPE, Campus Kitchen, and Habitat for Humanity.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina's educational experience helped me desire to be a woman of faith and vision.

Attending Regina taught me to become an empowered woman and work hard to achieve my goals.

Corinne Forys '00 Academic Advisor - Department of Psychology, Wayne State University HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Michigan; Wayne State University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Corinne has worked in education for 10 years. After finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (University of Michigan) and Master of Arts in Counseling (Wayne State University), she spent three years as a guidance counselor at Regina High School.

She is now in her seventh year as an Academic Advisor in the Department of Psychology at Wayne State University. Corinne has presented at state and regional student success conferences and is involved in many aspects of advising at Wayne State. She was instrumental in creating the new student orientation advising program for the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS) and was recognized for her work in this area as "Most Innovative CLAS Advisor" in 2017.

Corinne currently advises over 400 undergraduate students, serves as PresidentElect of the CLAS Academic Staff Collegial Committee, and is the first academic advisor elected to serve on the CLAS faculty council's curriculum committee.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My Regina High School education instilled a love of learning that eventually brought me back to working directly with students. It helped me find my voice, and I feel comfortable speaking up as a woman in a room full of powerful people. The faith foundation built during my time at Regina also led to my sense of empathy and social justice, two things that guide every interaction I have in my career.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I have so many great Regina memories, but my favorites are simple times with my friends.

My senior year lunch table group was an amazing group of women and seeing them every day was always a highlight.

Dr. Elizabeth Gwinn '00 Trauma, Surgical Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery Attending - Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center HIGHER EDUCATION: Albion College; Wayne State University School of Medicine PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Dr. Elizabeth Gwinn is a female standout in a male dominated field. Once she graduated from Regina and completed her undergraduate degree at Albion College, she went on to medical school at Wayne State University and fell in love with surgery during her rotations.

She then moved to Chicago to attend Rush University Medical Center for her surgical residency. After 5 long years and a growing passion for trauma surgery, she finished a 1 year trauma surgery fellowship at Cook County. To be more competitive in her field, she completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the U of M Health System. After 11 years of training, she moved back to Chicago to fulfill her dream. She is currently a Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery attending at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago.

In addition to her day job, she is also the co-Director of the surgical intensive care unit and the Program Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. She continues her love of teaching as Assistant Professor of Surgery at UIC College of Medicine, Faculty instructor for both Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and Midwestern University, and is an Advanced Trauma Life Support Course Director. She has been the main author for three medical book chapters and has been the illustrator for one. She has published and authored four medical papers throughout her career.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: I always wanted to be a physician and during my junior year of high school I was nominated by Regina faculty to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston, MA, which was an opportunity to meet with other high school students from around the country interested in medicine as a career. We spent time in the hospitals and medical schools of Boston and this experience only increased my drive and dedication to continue my educational pursuit of medical school.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My freshman year first period gym class - the friends I met and made in that class are now family and we still to this day, 24 years later, have a "Reggies" group text message.

Dr. Vanessa Sauerberg Hereford '01 Hospital Physician - St. Joseph Mercy Hospital HIGHER EDUCATION: Wayne State University

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating undergrad with a Bachelor of Science at Wayne State University, Vanessa was accepted into Wayne State University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency in Family Medicine at St. John Hospital. She was the chief resident her third year of residency. After residency she started a job at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston in Howell as a Hospitalist, where she continues to work today.

She sits on the medical executive board as well.

Vanessa is also the inpatient coordinator for their Family Medicine Residency program.

Additionally, she works as a Utilization Review Physician Advisor to help her hospital ensure proper billing for their patients.

In her time off of work, she still enjoys playing ice hockey and being active. She has 3 kids who are very active themselves and keep her and her husband on their toes. They currently live in Brighton and enjoy going up north when able.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My Regina education prepared me extremely well for all my future schooling and ongoing lifelong learning. The skills I learned while at Regina have helped ensure my studies are always as easy as possible. Regina has also provided me with a solid set of amazing friends who have the same solid skills to succeed in life.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory is difficult to pick, there was so many. I think my favorite memory though is Spirit Week and all the fun, activities, and decorating that occurred that week. I loved dressing up in the theme of the day and taking part of the games.

Sarah Hirschmann '15

Teacher - Christ the King School Detroit HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Detroit Mercy PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina, Sarah attended the University of Detroit Mercy where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Arts in Primary Education, specializing in Language Arts with a minor in Leadership. She continued her athletic career at Detroit Mercy as a member of the women’s soccer team. She graduated in May 2020 where she was the Class Valedictorian.

Additionally she was nominated for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year. Over 600 female college athletes were nominated this award which recognizes graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service, and leadership throughout their college careers.

She has spent many volunteer hours with both Detroit Mercy and a non-profit organization she started in 2015, One Kid At A Time. The organization sponsors the education of two students in Kenya and distributes funds throughout Detroit. She has also spent two summers with the International Volunteer Headquarters, teaching children in Kenya and India. She has also volunteered with Ford Community Corps Partnership, working with students with behavioral disabilities in Detroit Public Schools, in addition to Zoe Counseling Services at Detroit Public Libraries, tutoring students in and out of foster care. She attended an advocacy day in Washington D.C. through the Ignatian Family Teach in For Justice organization, where students gather around the country to learn about ways to fight injustice and advocate for themselves and others. One of her main volunteer efforts on Detroit Mercy’s campus was with the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference, where she led a committee of 20 students to host it on the campus for the first time.

Currently Sarah teaches at Christ the King School Detroit in a split class of 3rd and 5th graders. She also coaches soccer for Bloomfield Hills HS and Eastside FC. HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Everything I have done in my life so far has been focused on working with people.

Regina instilled in me a love for building relationships with people--teammates, classmates, student council members, and teachers and staff. Regina fosters an environment where everyone is welcome, and everyone is a family. I have taken those community ideals with me and put them at the forefront of my work with children. Some people look at a child who is struggling in school and sees a troublemaker who is three grade levels behind and who doesn't pay attention, but Regina taught me that there is always more than meets the eye. If you instead look at that child as part of your family, and get to know them, you realize they are a fighter who has lived through abuse and neglect. Regina taught me that if you take the time to get to know people, and then love them for who they are, they will accomplish unimaginable things.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory was when we beat Ladywood in Regional Semifinals in soccer. I was a goalkeeper, and there was a PK shootout after overtime. My teammates made some great shots, and I had a couple saves. I am convinced to this day that the Regina soccer team that year was the hardest working and most passionate team in the world, and the feeling when we won is a hard one to describe. None of us could stop smiling until we fell asleep.

Lindsay Laskowski Hull '00 VP Marketing, Training & Quality - Envolve Pharmacy Solutions HIGHER EDUCATION: Rollins College PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After high school, Lindsay went on to attend Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, where she obtained her BA in English, with a minor in Communications. While at Rollins, she also played on the golf team. After graduating in 2004, she worked in Marketing in the golf industry for a few years before returning to Rollins, where she obtained a position in the Advancement Office as a Research Associate and attended the Crummer Graduate School of Business in the evenings.

In 2009, she obtained her MBA, with concentrations in Marketing and Management. After graduating from Crummer, she started her career in the healthcare industry at Magellan Health, where she served in a variety of market research roles. In 2012, she was recruited to join a start-up specialty pharmacy, AcariaHealth, an organization that provides high-cost, complex and high touch medications to patients, as the Director of Marketing. At that time, the organization had just over 40 employees, and Lindsay was a department of one, focused on creating new marketing collateral and websites, supporting field sales team members, responding to requests for proposals, writing internal communications and more. In 2013, AcariaHealth was acquired by Centene Corporation, and the organization and her career grew. Centene is the nation’s leading provider of government-sponsored healthcare in the U.S., serving over 24.6 million managed care members in 50 states. Centene is a Fortune #42 organization, with 71,800 diverse and dedicated employees across the country. Throughout her career within the Centene enterprise, Lindsay has held roles such as VP, Marketing & Communications, VP, Strategic Initiatives, VP, Marketing, Product and Strategy, and she has also led the pharmacy project team for two large-scale acquisitions. Her current role with Centene subsidiary, Envolve Pharmacy Solutions, is VP, Marketing, Training & Quality where she is responsible for creating and implementing marketing and strategic initiatives to support the organization’s goals, training/development initiatives for over 3200 employees, as well as overseeing quality/process improvement for the enterprise. She also oversees Business Continuity and has been instrumental in developing and executing the company's response to COVID-19, including quickly shifting over 3000 employees to a work-from-home environment back in March, while ensuring no disruption to the care of the patients and members the organization serves. She has been recognized for her achievements by the organization: Receiving the company’s Core Value Champion Award; Being selected to participate in Centene’s Innovative Leadership program, REACH, Readying Executives to Answer the Challenges of Healthcare, in partnership with Trinity University and Washington University in St. Louis.

Lindsay enjoys giving back to the community and supporting her alma mater – she has served as a mentor for Rollins College graduates, and as a member of the Young Alumni Board. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys spending time with family, including husband, Justin, two and half year old daughter, Sullivan, and baby girl Emerson, the newest addition to the family who arrived on October 24.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My Regina education prepared me for college and beyond in many ways! For example, I learned proper time management and scheduling using my all-time favorite “agenda,” and while I wasn’t a fan of Speech class at the time, I learned strong public speaking skills, which have proven invaluable in my career.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: This is a tough one to answer as I truly enjoyed my time at Regina - a few stand outs include our Powderpuff game where Julie Krol made the final field goal to secure our victory over Marian; playing on the golf team; and, of course, chicken sandwich (with fries a side of ranch day).

Denielle Lucido Kearns '01 Tax Partner - Ernst & Young

HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University; Oakland University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: In August of 2020, Denielle made Partner at Ernst & Young, a Big Four accounting firm. She has spent her entire career at EY since graduating with her Masters in Accounting. She is a Tax Partner in the EY Detroit Office.

At EY, she is an account leader for large multinational public companies specializing in tax account, compliance and report. She is also very involved with coaching and mentoring junior professionals, EY Professional Women's Network and is an United Way of Southeast Michigan Emerging Philanthropist. Denielle currently resides in Troy, Michigan, with her husband, who she met at EY, and their golden doodle, Lucy.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: The discipline and work ethic, along with the high quality education I received at Regina, aided me tremendously to study hard in college, pass the CPA exam, and work very hard at EY to make partner. Regina also instilled in me that women can do anything and be anything they want to be. Working hard, staying focused, giving back to your community, supporting others, and being kind (all values practiced during my time at RHS) have been keys to my success.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: It's really not just one memory, although there were many, many great times that I had at Regina! For me, it is the life long lasting friendships I made at Regina. The ladies I met during my four years at Regina are today some of my closest friends that I consider family. My "Regina Girls" have been by my side through the happiest and toughest moments of my life. We have supported each other through college, job interviews, careers, marriages, having children, loss and career transitions. We have celebrated life's greatest milestones with each other and held each other up through life's toughest challenges. I am eternally grateful to the Strong, Amazing Women I met at Regina. Regina creates this amazing sense of community that stays with you long after you graduate and transforms classmates into friends and into family.

Shelby Liebler-Kukuk '02 Teacher - McCollough-Unis (East Dearborn Public Schools) HIGHER EDUCATION: Saginaw Valley State University

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Shelby has accomplished much since graduating from Regina.

She has become a very successful and award-winning teacher in low income neighborhood. She is often referred to as "Freedom Writer." Her education at Regina was a huge help in building both her academic career skills and her confidence to succeed in everything she does. In addition, she received an MA from Saginaw Valley State in Education Technology and Teaching Online, and she also received a post-graduate certificate to be an authorized ESL teacher. She taught English Language Arts at a middle school at Cesar Chavez Middle School in Southwest Detroit, and for the past several years, she has been teaching in East Dearborn at McCollough-Unis. She has won several teaching awards from both schools. She is one of the most popular and engaging teachers in East Dearborn, as she was in Southwest Detroit.

Shelby is said to be one of the most innovative teachers working in Detroit today. She has a very unique ability to engage and communicate with these specific populations. Her students really love and appreciate her. She states that she learned these important teaching and life skills by attending Regina. She closely observed and worked with her teachers at Regina, and she learned much from them. She was especially influenced by Regina's great English teacher Ms. Gagnier, Ms. Moscota, Ms. Brinker, and Sister Leanne's guidance. Simply put, Regina is a large part of her success in her life and career. She draws upon her Regina skills to this day, and she passes them on to her students.

Shelby is a "saddle shoe" girl for life.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: When I came to Regina in 1999, I was shy and insecure with who I was. I knew what I wanted to be, but was unclear on how to get there. The teachers I had at Regina helped mold me into an empathetic, resilient, and assertive woman. Specifically a shout out to Ms. Gangier, Ms. Moscotta, Ms. Brinker, Mrs. Biondo, and Ms. Keifer. I could list a 1,000 things that I learned by sitting in their classrooms. They not only made learning come alive, but also made me see what I wanted to be. From learning Shakespeare to simple things like the test prayer, all of which they did shaped me into who I am now.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: The Powderpuff rally and game was incredible. We, of course, Beat Marian. If you want to see a group of people come together with one goal in mind, then go to a powderpuff game! The energy is so strong and inspiring.

Ashley Lewis '05 VP, Financial Communications & Capital Markets - Edelman HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University (Bachelor of Arts – Mass Media Communication)

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Ashley serves as a Vice President at the global public relations firm Edelman. where she is a leader within the Financial Communications practice. Edelman Financial Communications is a specialized group of advisors with deep expertise in the financial services industry. Ashley provides counsel to a range of Edelman clients on media strategies and public affairs.

Ashley most recently served as Communications Director for the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Previously she served in the Obama Administration as the Senior Communications Advisor to the Chairman of the ExportImport Bank of the United States. Prior to Ex-Im Bank, Ashley worked at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, AFL-CIO and U.S. House of Representatives.

In 2019, Ashley was named ‘40 Under 40’ Women in Housing and Finance by Women in Housing and Finance, Inc. She is a Detroit native and a proud graduate of Regina High School and Michigan State University.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My educational experience at Regina provided a sense of empowerment and self, that women can and will succeed at whatever we put our minds to.

Melissa Abuel Lindquist '01

Vice President of Program Management - Stoneridge Inc HIGHER EDUCATION: Kettering University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Melissa has accomplished a great deal across several engineering and manufacturing industries. She has served as a role model and mentor to many women, both in and out of the workplace, in STEM fields through her accomplishments in these male-dominated industries. Currently at Stoneridge Inc as the Vice President of Program Management, she overhauled their product development system and is revamping the corporate culture to be more aligned with international transportation standards to position Stoneridge's business for vehicle electrification and autonomy. During the COVID peak, she was part of multiple projects researching how to use current product to build ventilators. Previously, she was the driving force behind the launch of many award-winning products/systems: branded audio systems in cars (Revel in Lincoln, AKG in Cadillac), vehicle emissions and fuel systems, compressors for large scale construction, and even washing machines/dryers. One of her washer/dryer projects was ranked as the highest in cleaning scores in 2014 by Consumer Reports, and many other product launches earned awards by the likes of Ford, GM, Toyota, Caterpillar, and John Deere to name a few. Early in her career, she was sent as an expat to Germany as part of an accelerated management program for high potential employees. She spent 4 years there and was featured in a German newspaper (Stuttgarter Zeitschrift). She was also in a John Deere magazine "PowerSource."

All these accomplishments are in addition to her responsibilities for her family. Family is paramount to her, and her family is what inspires her to not see the supposed "glass ceiling." Melissa strives every day to lead her family and others with integrity, and while she doesn't believe that women can have it all, she's been told by many, that she's pretty darn close.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My experience at Regina had a major impact on how I face and view the world. Regina instilled a spirituality in me that inspires me to seek the good in everyone I come across. This has built a sort of empathy in my business and personal pursuits that is critical when it comes to leading professional organizations. Regina's same-sex education was also very impactful when heading into a male-dominated university and subsequently multiple male-dominated industries. Going to Regina conditioned me to always be myself and not try to constantly impress others. This was so engrained in me that going into male-dominated anything, I didn't know any other way to be except true to myself. I have Regina's environment to thank for that.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: There are so many great memories at Regina, but one of my favorites was the Cedar Point trip my freshman year. Our bus got rear-ended on the way onto the highway, and so we started to play Red Rover in a field with about 20 girls on one side, and 20 on the other. It must have been a crazy sight to see for the bystanders, but that is how we passed the time for at least an hour until we could get back on the bus and go home. To me, it was always a great reflection of our creativity and sisterhood. We could take it anywhere and turn it on anytime.

Katy Litwin '00 Assistant Director of Architecture - Integrated Design Solutions HIGHER EDUCATION: Lawrence Technological University (Bachelors and Masters - Architecture) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Katy graduated from Lawrence Technological University at the top of her class, receiving both degrees within five years of graduating from Regina.

Since that time she has worked on numerous complex architectural projects, collaboratively developing the design with other architects, engineers and building owners, and eventually growing into the role of a Lead Project Designer. Her focus has been primarily on the higher education market, with notable projects including Wayne State University's Medical Education Commons, Texas Tech University’s Law School Addition and Renovation, the University of Notre Dame’s Stadium Renovations, the University of Michigan's Alumni Center Renovation, Michigan State University’s Bio Engineering Facility and the upcoming STEM building. She has also had the opportunity to branch into other market types with corporate clients that include United Shore Financial, Quicken Loans, Ford and Chrysler as well as numerous local K-12 initiatives such as the new P20 vision at Marygrove.

Katy’s recent achievements include receiving the 2018 Michigan American Institute of Architects Young Architect Award. She has also led the path for female leadership in her office as she's one of the first female members of her firm and the first female assistant director of architecture.

On a personal note, Katy is married to a fellow architect who shares her values and supports her in all she does. They are blessed to have a young daughter.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina instilled in me the knowledge, confidence, and self-respect that allowed me to reach for my goals and never set limits to what I can achieve. As a woman that can at times be difficult in a profession that was previously perceived to be dominated by men. My education and pride in my abilities have allowed me to carve a new path with respect and integrity that is in keeping with the foundation that I found at Regina.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Although there are many favorite memories that I can think of, the one that comes to mind is my first day at Regina which was as a transfer student my sophomore year. The immense feeling of welcome by other students and by all the teachers made me feel confident that this is where I was meant to be. Specifically I remember my French class with Miss Seidler (later McClain), where I was the only sophomore in a class of juniors and seniors. Coming into the class I was a little intimidated but very quickly felt at home through the overwhelming sense of inclusion, community and sisterhood!

Dr. Lauren Mellor '02

OBGYN - Comprehensive Woman's Care HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina, Lauren went to undergrad at Michigan State University. She continued her education there for osteopathic medical school as well. Lauren completed her residency at McLaren Macomb. She is currently a partner at her practice, Comprehensive Woman's Care as an OBGYN. One of the best parts about being an OBGYN is seeing tons of Reginites, both current and alumnae. Lauren says she loves when they wear their Regina gear to appointments. She also has had the honor of delivering many Regina babies, including Shelby Liebler Kukuk '02. Another Regina Alumna said, "She saved my life when I gave birth to my first born. I would not be here today if it wasn't for Dr. Mellor."

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina challenged me academically and prepared me for college. The Anatomy and Physiology class I took as a senior sparked my interest in the human body and in medicine. Regina also allowed me to grow spiritually and deepen my faith. It is easy to have faith when you see the miracle of childbirth. But, it is the pregnancy losses and cancer diagnosis that challenge it. I believe my faith helps me provide companionate care in times of joy and in times and times of sorrow. I truly believe Regina gave me the academic and spiritual foundation that has allowed me to excel.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My hands down favorite memory at Regina was winning powderpuff! I will also forever be grateful for

the friends I made and the bonds that were created along that way. To this day most of my closest friends were made at Regina. Without their love and support I would not be where I am today.

Michelle Oben '05

Vice President of Digital Platforms - FCB Chicago HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University (Bachelor of Arts - Marketing)

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Michelle is the Vice President of Digital Platforms at FCB Chicago— the second largest advertising agency in Chicago. As one of the youngest VPs, she is responsible for enabling creativity through technology.

While overseeing the Digital Product Analyst, User Experience, and Influencer teams at FCB Chicago, she is tasked with solving strategic problems for large clients, the agency and the FCB network on a North American level.

Prior to joining FCB, Michelle attended Michigan State University where she graduated with a degree in Marketing. At MSU, she was a part of the Women in Business Student Association and held executive board positions on the Multicultural Business Students’ Association.

After college, she worked for various companies within the marketing and technology space. She started her career as an analyst at Target Headquarters in Minneapolis before returning to Michigan at the age of 25 to start her own business, which was a mentorship marketplace for international college students. In the years following, she worked for a startup backed by Detroit Venture Partners, as well as Chicago-based predictive analytics healthcare technology startup.

Out of work, Michelle enjoys photography and developing content that revolves around her passion of travel, design and technology.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: I wouldn’t be where I am today without the foundation that Regina provided. To succeed as a womxn in the modern world, you need to believe in yourself, to think critically, and to fight for what you want—Regina prepared me for all of these things. Its academic and athletic programs molded me into a confident leader who can navigate the world with strength and grace.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Can’t pick just one! Crushing Marian in Powderpuff, Econ and English classes (Robertson, Gagnier, Weinert), and

auctioning my mom’s sandwiches at lunch were all top contenders. Though, if I had to pick one it would be life chats with Ms. Laffey because she greeted every conversation with empathy, pragmatism, and pushed me to be the best I could be.

Jeanette Pierce '99

Founder and Director - Detroit Experience Factory HIGHER EDUCATION: Aquinas College (Bachelor of Arts - Communication) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Jeanette is a social entrepreneur and lifelong Detroit resident. She has a bachelor’s of arts degree in communication from Aquinas College, and is the mother of triplets.

In 2006, she founded a grassroots nonprofit that used tours and experiences to take people beyond the headlines and educate them about Detroit’s history, culture and community. Today that organization has evolved into the Detroit Experience Factory which engages people in Detroit’s stories - helping them understand its complex history and connecting them to Detroit’s people, places and projects. Over 115,000 people have taken a tour in the last 13 years to learn about Detroit’s assets, small businesses, historic neighborhoods, city planning & development policies and innovative solutions to the challenges the city faces.

As clients approached her seeking even more in-depth learning and the opportunity to leverage the knowledge and expertise built since she began this work in 2006 she saw a need for a new project that would share lessons learned from Detroit to inspire individuals, organizations and cities to innovate for a better future for all. So in 2018, Jeanette launched The City Institute to do just that. The City Institute offers learning journeys, city experience consulting, speaking engagements, and workshops. Early City Institute clients included Harvard Loeb Institute, State of Oregon, City of Akron, City of Graz and Salesforce Leadership.

She has presented at more than 100 events including Atlantic Magazine’s CityLab Conference, Governor’s Economic Summit, Downtown Las Vegas Annual Meeting and the Oregon Heritage Conference. She was honored

by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of the Top Forty under 40, by DBusiness Magazine as a Thirty in their 30's, was awarded the Shining Light Future Leader Award from the Detroit Free Press as well as receiving many other recognitions and awards.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: The educational experience at Regina helped me to win a full tuition scholarship to Aquinas College which had a major impact on my life’s trajectory. I especially appreciated the fact that at an all-girl school, all leadership positions from class president to student council are held by women. On another note, Ms. Gerard’s Spanish classes were not only fun but prepared me to study abroad in Spain while in college which was a life-changing experience. Learning about current events and elected officials in Government class helped grow my interest in social justice and politics and Public Speaking class had such an impact that I’m a professional public speaker today.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Playing the lead in the Spring Play my senior year, Cheaper By the Dozen, because we had such an amazing time as a cast and because it turned out that I was cast in the same role that my mom had played in the same play at Regina in 1964.

Dr. Meredith Pezda Price '01 Dermatologist - Hamzavi Dermatology Grosse Pointe HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Michigan - Ann Arbor PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Dr. Meredith Price, MD FAAD graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a bachelor degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in 2005, and completed her medical training at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2009.

There she received the School of Medicine Faculty Endowed Scholarship (2006-2008) and the Janet M Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation in 2009. She subsequently completed her internship at St. John Hospital and her residency in dermatology at Wayne State University, where she served as the chief resident. Throughout residency she was active in research endeavors and presented at Michigan Dermatologic Society, American Academy of Dermatology, and Cosmetic Surgery Forum meetings.

Dr. Price is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Michigan Dermatologic Society. She currently heads her own practice at Hamzavi Dermatology Grosse Pointe.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My educational experience at Regina High School set the foundation for my future success by instilling in me a great work ethic, a personal sense of responsibility, and a confidence in myself that allowed me to know I could achieve anything.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: One of my favorite memories from Regina would be going to the State Championships twice for tennis. Tennis is such a great sport that one can play their entire life.

Today, I still actively play competitive USTA Women's 18+ league tennis, so I got a good start playing on the tennis team at Regina.

Leanne West Ross '02

Senior Vice President of Agency Recruitment - Renaissance Alliance HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University - Bachelors of Science (Business) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Leanne is currently the Senior Vice President of Agency Recruitment for Renaissance Alliance – an insurance company that works with independent agencies. As the organization’s sales leader, Leanne spearheads an aggressive growth strategy to bring on new member agencies and geographically expand the organization. Drawing from her vast experience and expertise in the insurance industry, Leanne oversees the sales team, providing perspective on overall strategy and direction of the organization. As a passionate leader, Leanne is focused on empowering agencies by offering them the tools and resources to bring their organizations to the next level.

Prior to joining Renaissance Alliance, she was founder and president of IVY LADDER, providing sales consultation and career coaching services. Previously, Leanne was a Regional Sales Executive at The Hartford, where she oversaw Small Commercial Segment $100M+ operation for the Boston Regional Office, leading a team of sales representatives and 300+ agency relationships in four states. She was responsible for managing the agency distribution partnerships to leverage Small Commercial product offerings for increased profitable sales in the Regional Office. Before this, she served as Commercial Lines Manager and Sales Executive for Brown & Brown’s Detroit Division. She oversaw the sales and service operations of the division, carrier relationship management, and marketing of new Middle Market business to carriers. She was responsible for recruiting, hiring and training of both sales producers and account management staff.

She is also a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), a Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and a licensed property & casualty producer. She currently lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts with her husband Mike (President of Brown & Brown in Dedham, MA) and daughter Ari. HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: At Regina, we were always told we could do anything we put our minds to, regardless of our gender or size. Where there was a will, there was a way - sometimes we just had to create that way. That attitude still lives with me to this day in both my professional and personal life. It has been a driving force for me, showing up as creative strategy, persistence, teamwork, dedication, discipline and grit. It has made me a stronger person, and allowed me to have a successful and fulfilling career and life.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I have so many memorable moments at Regina from powderpuff to plays, chipwichs to chicken sandwiches, Mrs. Robertson's classes to morning announcements in Sr. Hyacinth's office, and dances to retreats. Some of the most fun that I had was at Student Council States weekends with Mrs. Belanger and friends.

Emily Sawicki '09 Managing Editor - The Malibu Times HIGHER EDUCATION: Fordham University PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina, Emily earned her BA in communications and media studies from Fordham University in the Bronx. From there, she moved to California where she has worked as a journalist at The Malibu Times for seven years, beginning as an editorial intern and working up to the position of managing editor, overseeing a team of about a dozen reporters, photographers, designers and columnists.

In her time as managing editor, she has covered the devastating 2018 Woolsey fire and the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, as well as countless local government meetings, breaking news events and feature stories.

Throughout her career so far she has earned numerous local and national awards from organizations such as the California News Publishers Association and the Inland Press Association. In 2019, her newsroom also received a certificate of appreciation from FEMA and Cal OES (the California governor's office of emergency services) for service to Malibu's fire survivors amid the Woolsey fire and its aftermath.

Outside of work, Emily volunteers her time at her local NPR station, is a member of the LA Conservancy and enjoys hiking, camping, and travel. She is currently also planning her wedding.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina's education shaped me into who I am today, from expert note-taking skills (thank you, AP Euro!) to confidence in collaborative projects, which is key when working in print journalism. Just like in high school group projects, editors work with photographers, graphic designers and reporters to piece together each publication. The skills Regina teaches girls, like how to speak up for yourself, how to take and provide constructive criticism and how to effectively manage your time, are all things I use constantly in my job today. I also remain an advocate of female-only education. I credit my all-girls school background for teaching me to respect and appreciate female voices, to see women as allies, and for teaching me at an early age the virtue of a messy bun.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I have so many great Regina memories, from our Powderpuff carpool to going out to breakfast on late start days to all the ridiculous late nights with drama club...but to be honest, my favorite memories are all the time I got to spend with my mom, Mrs. Sawicki, hanging out in her classroom after school or between classes. Having my mom as a teacher and forensics coach was such a gift. Now that I'm almost 30 and live 1,000 miles away, I appreciate how cool it is that my mom knew and loved my friends as much as I did and how fortunate I was to always have her there, offering me 50 cents to buy myself a cookie when I was having a bad day.

Dr. Katherine Gwinn Shea '02 Associate Director of Field Medical Training - Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. HIGHER EDUCATION: Central Michigan University; Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Katherine has always had a passion and dedication to care for others. Upon graduation from Regina, she attend Central Michigan University where she double majored in Dietetics and Psychology. Following graduation, she completed her dietetic internship at Henry Ford Hospital. It was there she realized her passion for pharmacy and turned down a full-time job as a dietitian to complete her prerequisites and apply to pharmacy school. By a stroke of luck, her boss turned her part-time job to a full-time job and within a year, she was accepted by Wayne State University's Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to join the PharmD class of 2012. Her desire for teaching and mentoring landed her a role as a Student Mentor. This allowed her to develop supplemental curriculum to assist young classes while she was completing her degree. After graduation, Katherine took a path not everyone takes and furthered her pharmacy education by completing a two year Pharmacy Residency at the University of Chicago Medicine - with a second year focused on Oncology Pharmacy. She then practiced for 5 years as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Chicago Medicine. During her time there, she published five research papers in scientific journals and contributed to policies and procedures within the institution to improve patient care. She also assisted the Director of the Oncology Pharmacy Residency program and helped to revamp the didactic portion of the residency experience. She mentored numerous pharmacy students and residents, as well as, taught at the Chicago State School of Pharmacy.

When the opportunity arose, she joined the Pharmaceutical Industry as a Medical Science Liaison. Due to her strong work ethic, she was promoted to a Senior Medical Science Liaison within 18 months of joining her team. Most recently, her dedication to mentorship and teaching have driven her to accept a role as an Associate Director of Field Medical Training. Her compassion for others and dedication to life-long learning have driven her to where she is today. Without the confidence instilled in her by Regina and her family, she would not have stood up to others and followed her dream to become a pharmacist and the successful woman she is today.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My Regina education instilled in me the confidence that I am enough and I can succeed at anything I put my min to. It provided me with the motivation to continue to pursue my dreams, despite roadblocks that others threw in the way. I was asked by several individuals "why would you spend the time going back to pharmacy school; it's so hard." The lack of support from peers and mentors was frustrating. Deep in my heart, I knew that in order to always be able to support myself, I needed to further my education. In the end, my response to those that challenged me was to graduate at the top of my class. As a result of said hard work, I was accepted into a prestigious and competitive residency program; a route not taken by most pharmacists. My drive throughout my career has landed me in my dream job in less than two years working in the pharmaceutical industry. I really feel that using my high school years to focus on my education and to build up my confidence has led me to the success I see today.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory comes from working in art class. I have always had a science and math focused brain and I never found myself to be overly 'creative'. One of our projects was working with metals and I was at a loss of what to create. I finally decided to make a heart pendant for my mom and I absolutely love that she still wears it to this day. Since then, I have used art as a means of stress relief and self-care.

Jackie Sheridan '05

Director of Scholars Program - Wake Forest University HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Notre Dame (BA); Georgetown University (MA)

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Regina, Jackie received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science and Russian from the University of Notre Dame. She continued her education at Georgetown University where she graduated with a Masters of Arts in Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies.

She began her career as an advisor for The Washington Center – an organization that provides internships and professional development to students to help them prepare for their future. In addition to advising students, she managed semesterlong academic enrichment programs tailored to the needs of partners like the Ford Foundation, the Prudential Foundation, and the Panamanian Ministry of Science and Technology.

She later oversaw the Pickering Fellowship program, a talent pipeline that selects and prepares talented young men and women from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to be diplomats in the U.S. Foreign Service.

In 2018, she moved to Vanderbilt University as the Associate Director of Post Baccalaureate Opportunities to explore a more traditional higher education experience. She recently became the Director of the Scholars Program at Wake Forest University. Her work on campus involves mentoring undergraduates and recent alumni as they pursue prestigious awards like the Rhodes and Fulbright Scholarships, and selecting and supporting incoming students who receive merit scholarships to study at Wake.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina gave me the basic academic skills to succeed in college, and the critical thinking skills to succeed in life outside of school. Our teachers prompted us to go beyond regurgitating the material, encouraging expansive thinking on lots of different topics (especially wide-ranging in our English classes!). That ability to connect different pieces together, to think outside of the current bounds, has helped me recognize opportunities when they come (I never anticipated my career no one imagines being a Scholars Program Director when they finish high school!) and respond to major challenges as they’ve arisen in my work. Regina has helped me stay sane - the friends I made here are still some of the most impressive, uplifting, wonderful women I know.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: Four years is a long time, so my strongest memories tend to be the more everyday ones: loud, music-filled drives to the pool for practice with the Swim Team, Ms. White looking giving you “that look” over the top of her glasses, Meg wishing us “Terrific Tuesdays” and “Wonderful Wednesdays” during announcements, Mr. Wise asking (very kindly) for me to please leave my pajama pants in my locker before first period. Each day for practice, the Swim Team would carpool over to East Detroit (now Eastpointe) High School, with upperclassmen driving younger students in their cars. It was a short ride, but a loud one—the radio was usually up, the windows usually down, and whatever mix of swimmers was in the car that day would be talking, laughing, and singing along. And we got into the habit of throwing snacks into each others’ windows at stoplights—I don’t know how it started, but Animal Crackers became the tossed treat of choice, so I eventually bought a giant tub of Animal Cracker cookies and kept it in my car for just this purpose.

Katherine Daudlin Shubnell '01 Chief Executing Officer - Daudlin Search HIGHER EDUCATION: Madonna University, University of Michigan PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Katie graduated from Regina High School in 2001 and has used the values that were instilled through her Catholic education in a career path that has directly helped others.

After graduating with her bachelor’s degree from Madonna University, she began working in philanthropy and was successful in raising funds to enhance medical services and create programs for community based healthcare organizations. In 2010, she obtained her Masters in Public Administration with a focus in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Michigan.

With her childhood dream being to work alongside her Dad, Katie joined his healthcare recruiting firm and assisted clients by identifying qualified individuals who would make an impact in their respective hospitals. Upon her Dad’s retirement, she began overseeing Daudlin Search, which expanded to serve education and nonprofit organizations in addition to healthcare. Although Katie enjoys her work in the recruiting firm, she missed the interaction and work she did in fundraising and began working at Kids On The Go, a nonprofit organization serving children with special needs throughout Southeast Michigan, . (Kids On The Go was founded by fellow Regina alumna, Kristy Piana Schena '90.) In that role, she has helped with the growth and development efforts of the organization, which recently expanded to year-round programming and offering services in Traverse City.

Katie is a proud mother of three children (Jack, Olivia, and Joey) and married to De La Salle Alumnus, Kevin Shubnell. She is an active parishioner and enjoys her time volunteering at Our Lady Star of the Sea School where her children attend.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: The education I received at Regina High School provided me with an appreciation for being a well-rounded person of faith. While I strive to do well in my career and as a wife and mother, I have found that I am my happiest and do my best when I am able do all of those things while maintaining professional relationships and personal friendships that support me as a "whole". Regina High School provided a platform for a wonderful education in an environment that showcased the importance of growing through experiences and by interacting with others. Most of all, we were taught that we should live in such a way that others can witness God's love and plan through us.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite academic memory was English Junior Year with Ms. McKenzie - I wrote a paper on the value of a Liberal Arts Education that provided some much needed direction for college. In general, my favorite memory was the busy schedule of Senior Year that was filled with lots and lots of laughter, many Regina milestones like PowderPuff and the great experience of Regina hosting the State Conference for Student Council.

Caroline Strasz Soave '08 Human Resources Specialist - U.S. Department of the Interior HIGHER EDUCATION: The University of Detroit Mercy (BA); The Catholic University of America (MA) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Carrie is a Human Resource Specialist in the Executive Resources Division at the U.S. Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she works with the Department’s senior leaders to create HR policy and manage programs related to the Senior Executive Service. Her work ethic has earned her a reputation as a rising star and she was selected as the Department’s first Human Resources Fellow for the Office of Executive Council’s CXO Fellowship Program and as a participant of the Partnership for Public Service’s Emerging HR Leaders Forum. Prior to moving to Washington, DC with her husband and dogs, Carrie worked as an HR Specialist at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, where she received the Federal Executive Board of Detroit’s Employee Recognition Award. Throughout her career, she has provided employment advice and guidance to those looking to establish a career in the federal government. She continues to exemplify the character and excellence inherent to a Regina education.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: My 20 years of Catholic education have truly shaped who I am and given the tools to excel professionally and personally in my adult years. Regina provided me with an excellent educational, spiritual, and social foundation and as well as the writing and presentation skills that have allowed me to thrive in my current position. My RHS teachers taught me to challenge myself intellectually and hone my academic talents, while my classmates taught me leadership, interpersonal skills, and the importance of building up others. I'm deeply grateful for the positive way Regina's mission of creating women of faith and vision has shaped my teen years and helped me to solidify my values and commitment to public service as an adult.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: It’s very hard to choose a favorite. But the pride I felt at graduation, celebrating the accomplishments of the class of 2008, and knowing that I was in a position to succeed in college and in the future with the support of an alumnae community of strong, smart women of character—including my Mom and three older sisters—is something I have always cherished.

Rebecca Sparagowski '10 Freelance ESL Teacher HIGHER EDUCATION: Loyola University Chicago

PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Rebecca graduated in three years from Loyola University Chicago with a degree in English Literature and a concentration in Creative Writing. She then earned her certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She spent one year in Zory, Poland teaching English, and another year in Villafranca Tirrena, Sicily (with a short stint in Milan!). In Sicily, she was promoted to lead teacher and had the responsibility of training new teachers, developing curricula, and helping open a new school location.

In Scotland, she started a new career! Rebecca attended the University of Edinburgh, where she earned an MSc in Book History and Material Culture. While there, she worked for the university and several other libraries, including the Edinburgh Central Library and the National Museum of Scotland Library, to improve access to their cultural heritage collections. At the same time, she also taught English at an immersion camp in Edinburgh, where students came for a two-week intensive course on English language and Scottish culture.

Back in the US, she worked at Oberlin College in Ohio in their Archives and Special Collections, where the focus is on using cultural heritage items in classroom settings. She is also currently working on a project with the Ohio Outdoor Sculpture database, run through the Sculpture Center in Cleveland, to improve digital records of Ohio's sculptures and statues.

Through all of this, she is still teaching! She teaches English online as a freelancer and develops ESL resources for other teachers to use in their lessons.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: I found my love of language and literature in Ms. Gagnier's freshman English class. My passion developed from there, and I worked to build a skillset with that passion. I also credit all my AP courses with teaching me time management and the value of pushing through a difficult project (as well as being able to graduate from university early!). Those are things that have really helped me stay the course through rough patches and progress plateaus.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memories come from the sports teams I was on. I loved the change of pace from my rigorous class schedule, and all the camaraderie that went along with team functions.

Leyanna Torres '02 Indirect Procurement Country Manager - Faurecia HIGHER EDUCATION: Michigan State University - Bachelors of Science (Packaging); University of Phoenix - MBA PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from Michigan State University majoring in packaging, Leyanna pursued her MBA at the University of Phoenix. She worked at a few different companies before going to the ZF Group where she began as a Senior Product Engineer and eventually became a Principal Commodity Buyer for Textiles & Pyrotechnics. She was responsible for developing all North American Micro-gas Generator, Webbing and thread sourcing strategies. It was at ZF in 2017 where she was named one of Oakland County’s 40 Under 40 recipients. Also at ZF, Leyanna delivered a TED talk spin off “ZED talk” where she was nominated to speak before hundreds of ZF employees and executive management to promote ideas and understanding of a healthier work-life balance by keeping the “mindset in shape.”

Leyanna is now an Indirect Procurement Country Manager at Faurecia, one of the largest global automotive suppliers. The company focuses on the “cockpit of the future” and hydrogen fuel cell technology which entails the broad spectrum of unique vehicle products which will change the look, feel and overall function of the future automobile as we transition to autonomous driving. She manages the country’s purchasing team implementing strategy and key performance indicators which drive exemplary savings, developing synergies globally.

Leyanna is also a “STEMinista” through the Michigan Science Center STEMinista Project, which is a program designed for girls in 4th through 8th grade. The Project and STEMinistas offer special opportunities in STEM with girls in mind. The project promotes that girls can do anything with STEM, and Leyanna is a true example of that.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Becoming a member and student of the Regina community was not like being a student at any high school. Regina, from day one, implants a sense of pride in the minds of the girls that they help to shape and mold into strong educated women of faith, creating a community of women that are strong in mind, body and soul. The unique curriculum taught in the core and specials classes to this very day I use in my professional career. Science happens to be my favorite subjects. Women in STEM was at a low when I graduated from Regina. The extensive science curriculum and how excited the teacher was to expel this knowledge onto us is what empowered me to enter into a STEM field. The specials speech class pushed me to overcome public speaking fears which I later used to give what was similar to a TED talk to hundreds of colleagues and superiors without breaking a sweat. I now can deliver presentations to Global Leadership with extreme confidence because of this class using all the tactics and tricks that were

taught to me when I attended class there almost 20 years ago! You are taught to be tought leaders, to not be afraid to ask questions and challenge others, speak up for others, be kind and most importantly to always give nothing but your best effort. You don't really understand the importance of acquiring these skill sets until much later in life. Regina provides an environment that allowed me to thrive comfortably without distraction. I was fully focused on my studies and my friendships that were developed at Regina and further created a sisterhood that no one else but a Reginite could understand. You can’t get that experience just anywhere or at any school, its Regina specific.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory was my entire senior year. Specifically, the senior retreat. I hadn’t really met or got to know much of my classmates until we had our senior retreat and joined together to play Powderpuff as one unit. A lot of bonding, sadness that our 4 years flew by so quickly and the making of new friendships that hadn’t happened those previous 3 years happened in those single moments. 2002 was definitely the best and most memorable year at Regina. #Class2002

Jennifer Gwinn Wawrzynczak '04 Senior Software Developer - HMS, Inc. HIGHER EDUCATION: Aquinas College PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Jennifer has been an innovator in a male dominated field. Upon graduation from Regina High School, she went to Aquinas College where she complete her Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration and a minor in Mathematics. Right after graduation, she was recruited by EPIC systems corporation as a software developer and within two year she became a team Lead. She led a team of 8 individuals in various projects before she was recruited by WTS Paradigm to be a software developer. She continued in a leadership role by being a mentor to fellow developers while continuing her main task do designing complex and custom software features for customers. CUNA mutual group then recruited her to join their prestigious team where she obtained her certification as a Professional Scrum Developer. Using her communication skills, she met the needs of the customer and collaborated with off-shore testing teams to keep projects on track. With her skills and certification, she was recruited to join the National Decision Support Company where she designed and developed web services and solutions for Amazon. She then moved across the country for her dream job with HMS Inc as a Senior Software Developer. She continues to mentor new team members and develops custom enhancements to meet the needs of the customers. Jennifer is a star in her field, constantly being recruited to join new teams based on her elevated skills. She helps to develop the skills in other members of her field through her leadership and mentorship.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina helped inspire me to discover what I truly wanted to do. Up until my Junior year I was planning on going into teaching and wanted to be a teacher. But then I took an intro into programming at Regina and discovered my love of programming languages and where my skill truly lies. With that class and the rest of Regina's education I was able to study Computer Information Systems and build a foundation that helps me understand how people use software and how I can help make their experiences better.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: My favorite Regina memory is always going to be the golf team and being able to go to state as a team both my senior and junior years. I still remember coming in from the course my junior year, with my lowest score yet and it was the score that cinched our spot in States.

Nicole Winowiecki '02

Chief Opportunity Officer - Real Life Colorado HIGHER EDUCATION: Grand Valley State University (Bachelors of Science – Psychology/Special Education); University of Colorado – Boulder (Masters of Education – Curriculum and Instruction; Math and Science) PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Nicole has spent her career being an advocate for the special needs community. She began her career as a special education teacher in the classroom and is now finding ways to support educators, students, and parents. She is currently the Chief Opportunity Officer for Real Life Colorado – a non-profit that serves the Colorado Intellectual and Developmentally Disabled community.

She is developing a one-of-a-kind program for complex learners with non-verbal learning disabilities, youth through adult, focused on giving students a voice through the use of augmentative communication devices.

Nicole has built high school transition programs, does private tutoring and service navigation, provided services as a Department of Voc Rehab vendor, worked as a disability benefits advocate, served as a director for workforce training programs and was a Special Education Faculty member at the University of Colorado Denver, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses for special education teachers.

Overall, Nicole works to ensure that every student has access to equitable learning opportunities and is able to reach his or her potential in life through student-centered services, supports and educational programming.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina gave me the skills and confidence to be a leader in today's world. I feel grateful that I had the privilege and opportunity to have such an exceptional education early in life that laid the foundation for success in my career. I was taught personal accountability, was challenged intellectually, and I was surrounded by other strong women that still shape my life every day. The lasting friendships I built in high school are invaluable to me and without them I would not have been able to push myself as far as I have.

Regina made me the woman I am today and I will always feel fortunate to call myself a Saddlelite!

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I have so many wonderful memories of classes and lunch hours (not just the chicken sandwiches!) but Powderpuff and all the events leading up to it stand out the most for me. Being a senior and going to practices with my friends was a fun experience that I had looked forward to for years, but I think it was exceptionally meaningful to me because we were all going through the aftermath of 9/11. Spirit weeks never disappointed; however, that year I felt like the game provided us with the positive energy and a sense of community that we really needed during a difficult time.

Dr. Kristina Gwinn Wixon '06 Family Practice Physician - Partners in Family Medicine HIGHER EDUCATION: Central Michigan University; Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Kristina has always been a leader to her peers and carved her own path. After her graduation from Regina, she went to Central Michigan University to study to become a physician. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree that emphasized a major in Biomedical Science and a minor in nutrition. Following her curiosity for natural medicine, she joined the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program at Michigan State University. She demonstrated her caring and compassion for others by working at Sunrise Assisted Living as a patient care manager prior to medical school. She has used her knowledge and skills to volunteer at the Student Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic while in medical school. Following graduation, she completed her Family Medicine Residency program at St. John Providence Health. During her first year of residency, she was the Chief Intern. Her desire to care for patients of all ages drove her to work at Oakland Family Practice Urgent Care and the Silver Pines Urgent Cares, all while being a very busy Resident. Her compassion for helping others was the reason behind her volunteering at Forgotten Harvest. At the completion of her residency, she was recruited to join Partners in Family Medicine as a Family Practice Physician. Kristina has never let barriers stand in her way and she made sure to follow her passion to her dream job. She loves caring for patients of all ages and does it with a holistic, comprehensive approach. Her patients adore her and appreciate her caring and compassionate approach to their care.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina's education provided me with a solid foundation to excel in undergraduate and graduate school. Doing well in undergraduate and graduate school is the reason I have been able to build a successful career as a physician. Regina taught me leadership skills that have aided me throughout medical school and residency.

Beatrice Tepel Wolnerman '10 CEO and Founder - Bea's Detroit & Bea's Squeeze HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Michigan PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: Beatrice is no stranger to turning lemons into lemonade. She is an amazing entrepreneur and leader. Since graduating in 2010, she has started and sold her corporate gifting company (Open Me When). In 2018, she purchased a building in Eastern Market and converted the 4,000-square-foot former meatpacking plant into Bea's Detroit, a co-working/café/event space (beasdetroit.com). Looking for a way to connect with potential tenants of the co-working space while the project was under construction, she and her husband Eli came upon an odd, 600-square-foot triangular parcel of land about 5-feet above the Dequindre Cut. Soon enough, the pop-up lemonade stand, Bea's Squeeze was born. It quickly gained distribution into 11 states across the US (beassqueeze.com).

Beatrice works with businesses as a mentor and has become a recognizable figure in the City of Detroit.

A Crain's 20 in their 20's for 2020, Beatrice has accomplished so much in such a short period of time.

Her husband and business partner Eli was one of THREE people that nominated Beatrice for Regina's 40 Under 40! Eli said the following about the Regina Community: "Wow, the support we have received from the Regina community has been amazing. Beatrice absolutely loved Regina and talks about high school and her friends every day still. I couldn't think of a better representative of Regina High School."

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina gave me the courage and leadership skills to go after my dreams and run my own business. Being surrounded by so many strong women empowered me to become a strong woman myself, giving me the confidence I needed to jump head first into the entrepreneur world and make my vision a reality. Everyone from the teachers to my fellow classmates were always so encouraging and supportive.

I couldn’t have asked for a better high school experience!

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: How can I pick just one favorite Regina memory?! After years of lots of fun but not so much success on the ice hockey team, I finally scored my first goal. The entire team came off the bench and piled on top of me to celebrate! I’m pretty sure the other team thought we were crazy, and that we didn’t even win the game, but I always felt like a winner being able to play with such amazing girls.

Stacy Ziarko '99 President & CEO - Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce HIGHER EDUCATION: University of Dayton PROFESSIONAL/PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS: After graduating from the University of Dayton, Stacy worked with both St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and The Heat and Warmth Fund. She spent twelve years at ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital raising funds throughout the state and around the country. At The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW), she helped those who struggled with their utility bills. She considers herself a “professional fundraiser” so she is able to help both individuals and organizations in her community.

She is now the President and CEO of the Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce where she is responsible for running events and programming as well as growing membership. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, she has worked even harder to support small businesses in Sterling Heights and throughout Macomb County. A small business owner in Macomb County said, “Stacy is the absolute best person to have in your corner.” She was also most recently named to Crain’s Detroit Business’s 40 Under 40.

Since COVID hit, the Chamber has been doing everything they can to support the small businesses in Macomb County. She's helped connect businesses with millions of dollars in grant opportunities – some of these grants included ways to increase their digital presence, be reimbursed for PPE or technology that they needed to keep the workforce safe and grants to allow their business to sustain. She also provided virtual events to help employers navigate the unemployment system, created a series of Covid Casts that introduced members to industry experts to help them survive the pandemic, hosted virtual networking and social events. She also showcased weekly the members that were still open during the shut down – especially the restaurants that were sharing their take out specials. She and the Chamber tried a little bit of everything to ensure the success of small businesses.

HOW DID REGINA HELP YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY: Regina taught me to think for myself and allowed me to try new things. I was able to find out what my passions were and make lifelong friends.

FAVORITE REGINA MEMORY: I played on the Regina Golf Team and some of my favorite memories are the golf trips we took. I was also active in the Drama Club and cannot see "Fiddler on the Roof" without thinking of my team on the side of the Regina stage.
