regents community, Regents Community, It is the time of year to pause, reflect, and imagine. As Head of School, I am in awe of the many ways God has blessed this school over the last three decades. Last May, we hit two milestones. First, we completed our 30th year as a school.

Second, we surpassed 1,000 graduates sent into the world. As we contemplate our past, present, and future, it is important to be reminded of God’s faithfulness that extends to each generation.

OUR TIME, OUR TURN The tapestry is long, full of rich color and made by God’s graceful hands.

It’s the story of our school. So many faces, moments, and memories blend together over 31 years to make us who we are. It is a dense heritage and a firm foundation. What will Regents look like in the next 30 years? The picture is less clear, but what is unmistakable is that the faces around campus today are of those who are creating the future.

I see that future being created through the generosity of our community in 2021-2022.

Our biennial Families Helping Families (FHF) event, held at Starhill Ranch was far and away the most successful event in the history of our school. Over one million dollars was raised that evening to bolster The Regents Fund, one of our primary means of providing tuition assistance. Paddles Up at FHF traditionally funds modest campus improvements and once again records were broken with over $300,000 being raised during this portion alone. To the delight of children and parents, those funds were used to replace and upgrade our grammar playground.

End of year giving towards Friends of Regents, our historic and traditional effort that provides our staff and faculty with an end of year financial blessing was overwhelmingly funded.

The giving towards Friends of Regents simply did not slow down after the end of the year, so our staff and faculty were able to receive not only their December blessing, but another one in January.

Finally after a two year COVIDinitiated absence, Regents Cup, our annual golf tournament returned, and this year we added a huge crowd pleasing Pickleball tournament.

Regents Cup is the primary way that our Athletic and Fine Arts Departments are funded.

I have become fond of saying over the last year that Regents is built on God’s grace and the generosity of His people. As we look ahead towards the next 30 years, while there will be opportunities to bless and benefit our “today” community, there will be opportunities to bless the future Regents kids, who have yet to be born!

OUR DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY Regents School of Austin is an independent school, meaning that the school selects or designs all of its curricula and programs, operates independent of financial support from the federal, state, or local government, and is governed by its own Board of Trustees. Unlike public schools which are funded by tax dollars, independent schools rely solely upon tuition fees, endowment income, year-round needbased giving, and proceeds from fundraising to meet the operating expenses.

Regents has a responsibility to its community to advance the mission of the school. The development office helps to facilitate this process by serving as good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us given throughout the year as well as gifts given through fundraising events.

All records of gifts are kept highly confidential. While the board and founders recognize the tremendous sacrifice of each and every gift, public recognition of gifts is not made in order to protect and preserve the mission and purpose of the school.

2021-2022 DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES

Families Helping Families 2021 PURPOSE:

Families Helping Families is our biennial celebration for fellowship and fundraising. Families Helping Families 2021 was held on November 6 at Star Hill ranch and an unprecedented amount of money was raised to sustain our school’s mission and support tuition assistance.

Friends of Regents 2021 PURPOSE:

Friends of Regents serves a unique purpose in allowing families to donate to one place and bless all of the faculty and staff at Christmas time in an equitable way. The offering collected from our community is equally shared among all employees. In 2021, an unprecedented amount was raised, so two gifts were given to bless our faculty and staff.

Regents Cup 2022 PURPOSE:

Athletics and Fine Arts are not fully funded through tuition dollars so both are dependent on Regents Cup to cover needs that are not met. Regents Cup 2022 was held on April 4, 2022 at Grey Rock Golf & Tennis Club.

The Class of 2022 had 81 graduates. Thirty-one members of the Class of 2022 attended Regents since kindergarten.

The Class of 2022 was accepted to 112 different colleges in the United States and abroad, including Northwestern, NYU, Georgetown, Tulane, USC, and UC Berkeley.

Of those immediately attending college, 56% stayed in-state with the most popular choices being University of Texas at Austin (11), Texas A&M (9), and Baylor (8).

Outside of Texas, the states that received the highest number of graduates were Tennessee (8) and Arkansas (6). Other members of the class traveled far and wide from Chapel Hill to Chicago, Malibu to Milwaukee, and Savannah to Villanova. The furthest-flying student attended the University of York in the United Kingdom.

Five student-athletes continued to play a sport at the collegiate level. Football players joined teams at UT Austin and Vanderbilt, and Regents is represented in lacrosse at High Point, soccer at Mary Hardin-Baylor, and women’s rugby at Princeton.

As a class, they logged more than 13,000 hours of service throughout high school with an especially impressive group of five young women who each surpassed 500 hours on their own. Eight graduates earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Four graduates are ROTC Scholarship recipients and joined programs at their universities for Air Force, Army, and Navy.

The Class of 2022 also included four National Commended Scholars, four National Hispanic Scholars, and 11 AP Scholars
