leng Deng is passionate about using technology to create a better tomorrow. “I believe in the power of dig ital innovation to bridge gaps and make resources accessible to everyone,” she says. At QUT studying for a Bachelor of IT, Aleng’s focus is on applyin g tech to education and healthcare. “I’m really drawn to where tech me ets design, especially with AI becoming such a big par t of everything. I’d love to use what I’ve learned to give back to my community, or even start something of my ow n one day.” Aleng says securing a Westp ac Young Technologists Schola rsh ip has connected her with changemakers who share her passions. “Some of my favourite mome nts have been in group projec ts where we’re bouncing ideas around and tro ubleshooting together. raig’s journey – from resear ching cyber security in the Netherlands to working on cutting-edge cryptography at Microsoft – has been shaped by one key truth: technolog y never stops evolving. “That’s what makes a career in IT so exciting,” Craig says. “There’s always something new to learn, new problems to solve and new opportunities to make a difference.” Craig says tech is creating mo re opportunities than ever before. “The demand for tech professionals is only growing – and those with the right skills will always be needed,” Craig says. “Right now, businesses across every industry are undergoin g a digital transformation. ver since Lachie Wren was a child, they’ve been passionat e about video games and IT. “I’ve always been interested in creating and using techno logy,” Lachie says, “particularly wit h the intent of educating or oth erwise benefitting people.” Studying a Bachelor of IT at QU T, Lachie is loving the proble msolving aspects of the degree and plans to pursue a career in sof tware engineering or cybersecurity . “Ultimately, the impact I’d like to have on the tech industry, and on society as a whole, is one tha t improves people’s lives and stre ngt hens human connection,” they say . “I also hope to contribute to the representation of women and LGBTQ+ people throughout the industry.” Degree: Bachelor of Inform ation Technolog y
