VANESSA BOWMAN

Vanessa Bowman One look at the titles of Vanessa’s paintings immediately tells us that we are on a journey through the cottages and gardens of quintessential rural England. Inspired by her native Dorset she captures gardens, gardeners and garden produce in her vibrant, colourful and instantly recognisable style. Wild birds and animals punctuate the scene against a backdrop of churches and charming cottages, whose inhabitants toil away throughout the seasons in careful preparation for the village flower show and the Harvest Festival. Born in 1970 into a family with a long-standing artistic tradition,Vanessa graduated from Winchester School of Art with First Class Honours in 1993. She worked for ten years in printed textile design, selling to worldwide markets, before committing to painting full-time after settling with her husband and family in West Dorset. Vanessa has won many art prizes for her stunning work, which has been used for several illustration projects, including House and Gardens magazine, Highgrove Estate, and Farrow & Ball.

ESTÉ MACLEOD

Esté MacLeod Colour is the essential element of Este’s work, which she uses ‘to surprise, evoke calming emotions and a sense of joy’. Consequently her paintings are uplifting and positive, full of shapes, patterns and layers strongly reflecting her background in design. Much of her work is inspired by and celebrates the natural world; birds in particular can become part of the mosaic of her pictures, remaining initially unseen before being revealed to the viewer. Born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1968, Esté was passionate about painting and drawing from childhood. This led to her studying art and textile design at Pretoria Technikon - now Tshwane University of Technology - and on graduating she forged a career as a textile designer and ceramicist. Having relocated to the UK 25 years ago, this is where she now calls home and continues to paint and create ceramic art. More recently she completed an MA in Contemporary Crafts and, alongside this and her own artistic practice, teaches art through courses, workshops, and retreats.
