WEDNESDAY MARCH 5, 2025 LUNCH AT 12PM SALE TO FOLLOW AT 1PM
Join us for this annual event held on the farm near the beautiful area of Shiningbank Lake. Come early for a pre-sale lunch and bull viewing.
We are currently experiencing some of the highest commercial prices in history. Now is the perfect time to consider replacing any bull over 4 years old, as cull bulls have never been this valuable. This is an amazing opportunity for commercial producers to add young bulls to their programs.
The Bremmekamp’s and Lairds consistently bring their bulls along at a modest level, ensuring longevity and structural soundness. This honest, hairy set of bulls will thrive in any environment.
This year’s offering is larger due to a shift away from 2-year-old bulls, resulting in a greater selection of yearlings. This is your last chance to purchase 2-year-old bulls from this sale, and the quality is impressive! There’s a homo-polled fleck bull that will garner significant interest. Whether you need a fleck or a red bull, be sure to check these guys out.
When I viewed the bulls in late January, I was very impressed by the uniformity, good footed, heavy musculature, and hairy coats. Whether you need a fleck, red, or black bull, there’s sure to be one that fits your program. If you’re looking for a calving ease bull, there are many intriguing options to choose from.
Additionally, there’s a great group of heifers available this year, with 30+ heifers offering a variety of reds and flecks. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your cowherd!
If you’re unable to attend, please reach out to any of the Transcon Team. We would be happy to assist you. Hope to see you on sale day!

Offering 76 yearlings, 9 two year olds, and 31 registered replacement heifers. Lunch at 12 PM, sale to follow at 1 PM MST
Welcome to our 21st Annual Bull and Heifer Sale! We’ve had another great year here on the farm. Cattle prices are at an all- time high and even though feed was a bit tight this summer, we did manage to squeak by with enough. It’s a good time to be in the cattle industry. Randy and I also welcomed a baby girl to our mix on October 10, Kahlan Kristine Laird. She is very loved by her two older brothers.
We will once again be working with the Transcon Team for our sale. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of their sales representatives for any info or questions, or directly to Gerd or I.
Our bull program focuses on the quality and longevity of each individual bull. We do not creepfeed on pasture and allow the bulls to grow at a slower rate to avoid burnout in the future. We really value the number of repeat customers we have and love hearing about the longevity of our bulls. We select our sale bulls and heifers from our herd of 380 registered cows focusing on soundness, temperament, udder structure, and longevity as well as calving ease. Our replacement heifer calves are heifers that represent our herd and breeding program as a whole. We strive to aim for an unassisted calf with good vigor that hops up and nurses quickly and a trouble free cow. Every one of our calves is weighed on a digital scale within 24 hours of birth.
In the past we have always sold two year olds bulls in our sale. However due to the increased costs and management involved with keeping these bulls an extra year, we have made the decision to dissolve our two year old program. This year will be the final year we offer these extended age bulls in the sale. Going forward we will have yearlings only. Our two year olds have always been bulls held after a specific birthdate. They are not the weaker ones by any means but rather just the younger ones.
This year we have a wide selection of Full Fleckvieh bulls available from a few of our tried and true herd sires as well as a few new ones. There are some polled bulls and quite a few calving ease ones too. In our purebred program there are a good variety of homozygous polled red and black sons. We have calving ease sons as well as power and growth bulls. We also have a neat cross between some of our purebred cows with our full fleck bull, Keato Pld Director’s Cut as well as his half fleck son, the Jackpot 336J bull. We strive to produce bulls to fit a variety of programs and all are semen tested, guaranteed, and affordable!
Once again our sale will be a live video auction on the farm. The bulls will be available to view on farm at any time and will be in pens for the buyers convenience on Tuesday and Wednesday. Feel free to stop by whenever or check out the bulls online. Snacks and coffee will be provided daily with lunch on sale day. Videos will be posted of each lot on our website at www. swantewittsimmentals.ca and can be found online on Transcon and the DLMS websites.
The cattle are on a complete health program provided by the Edson Veterinary Clinic. All calves receive Nasalgen, an intranasal vaccine, as newborn calves and are then boostered in spring with Pyramid + Presponse and Vision 8 with somnus. They are boostered again in fall with Presponse HM, Express 5, Vision 8 with somnugen, and dewormed with Bovimectin and Clean Up II. We hope to see you there!

100% Full Fleckvieh: We seriously considered keeping Mystery for our own herd use. However we do already have 2 Elevation herd sires working so we made the decision to offer him for sale. His dam is an older cow so her calves’ birth weights are starting to creep up as we often see in our older cows. She’s been a very productive cow for us and we sold Mystery’s maternal sister through the Lone Stone sale last fall to Starwest Simmentals for $14000.00. If you’re looking for that dark red pigmentation and good growth and performance, Mystery is the bull. Check out his 2 year old brother and dam picture on Lot 38.

The Blanche cow is 9 years old and calved in mid January this year. She still has a beautiful udder and moves out great. She holds her condition well year after year and is dark brown with goggles. She’s a moderate framed lady who, just like her dam, has a great udder. The Alanna 58A cow was one of our favorites and walked our herd until 2 years ago. The Yordan 144Y cow also just left the farm in the past 2 years and we still have many daughters from both of these cows working for us. This combination between her daughter, Gisela, and the Fitzroy bull really worked! Murphy has very good muscling and some nice growth but also loads of calving ease. The Gisela cow has always thrown us nice low birth weights. She is a very moderate sized lady and just like her dam, has a great udder and very nice feet.

We also have a few sisters to the Finesse 50F cow in our herd. Overall this cow line has been very productive for us. Modern has that nice cherry red color to him and a good temper to work with. We’ve still got the 515D cow in the herd and she’s held up very well for being a 9 year old cow. Lots of thickness in this bull of Ted and Marianne’s.

Plus the red factor traits on the dam’s side and the calving ease of the Mountain bull. The cows are all the same- nice big, thick haired, muscular females. You’ll see the Zoris 32Z cow in a few of the bull pedigrees. Moscow has that rugged look to him and is structurally sound. He’s a bull with a bit more power in him.

We have many of these cows in the herd because they have great udders and we love how maternal they are. They’ve worked very well for us as some of our top producing cows every year. Freckles is no exception. The cows in this pedigree are all solid red girls and have lots of performance. This guy is a cow bull who will put pounds on calves.

Marb’s dam is a nice moderate framed cow with lots of depth of rib and easy fleshing. She’s going strong in the herd still and consistently produces a marketable calf for me every year. She’s a brown, blaze faced lady with good feet and a beautiful udder. Marb carries that thickness from both his parents as well as the muscling. Scurred Fullblood, Full Fleckvieh: We did something different during breeding season this year and used a Full Fleckvieh bull on a group of our purebred cows for 10 days of the breeding season. Director’s Cut was our heifer bull for our fleckvieh program for many years but became too related to use any longer. However we just love him so much that we decided to try some outcross breeding on our purebred cows and we were really happy with the outcome. He is a really neat combination of calving ease with muscle, growth, and performance. He walked our herd until spring 2023 so these are his final calves on offer. Director’s Cut sires thick, stylish calves and his females are often our top selling heifers. We find his son’s have phenomenal libido and the daughter’s are super maternal with great udders.

Mara is one of my favorite heifers in the pen. I just can’t get over how incredibly thick she is and she’s a doll to work with. Easily one of the quietest heifers on the farm. The Trustin cow’s have been very great cows for us over the years and Rattler throws nice, dark red coloring and a very good disposition.

Here’s another young cow who weaned off quite the beauty for a first calver. There is longevity in this line as the Yulu 134Y just calved again here in January for us. She’s 14 years old and has held up amazingly over the years. We love all the cows we have from her and her cow family. They are very reliable and productive ladies.

Here’s another Cayenne cow also out of an old Y cow who is still on the farm. 12Y hasn’t aged a day it seems and she still produces very well for us at the ripe old age of 14. The Fanta cow is a blaze faced cow. These ladies all have great feet and udders.

Margarita has a lot of thickness. Her dam is an Amber Jack daughter with good calving ease and she’s been a very good cow for us so far. We like the trouble free udders and sound confirmation of these cows. Margarita has a wonderful temper.

Mildred comes from a very nice, easy going, solid brown cow with a moderate build. She goes back to the Violet cow who is the dam of our Everest bull. These cows have good fertility and longevity.

The farm is located halfway between Edson and Whitecourt on Highway 32. Turn west off the pavement at the blue Shiningbank Lake Park government sign (TWP 562). Follow this around to the west side of lake, staying to the left when the road splits off to the campground. At the T intersection, turn north on Range Road 145A and then east 1 mile down the road on TWP 564.
Our sign is in the field. Follow it all the way up into the farm.
