The Bremmekamps and Lairds operate on a very large land base, “bushy” and vast pastures with their 350 mother cowherd. The 2 year old bulls offered are sorted from the prior year’s calving deadlines by age, and are wintered in an open area that has the bed pack, feed area and water availability in a quadrant of the large wintering area they live in. After seeing these bulls, the first thing that comes to mind, is they are sound, quiet and good, and the economic value is there! Think of how many more cows they will breed, aside from the fact they have never been offered for sale prior!
BREEDERS GUARANTEE: Standard terms set forth by the Canadian Simmental Association, with the exception where any animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale., the guarantee shall be null and void.
The coming yearlings bulls, to use the redundant phrase, that many claim, are “fed to last”, is true here. They still posses adequate pounds and of course the maternal values that the Simmental breed provides. There’s no hiding that they won’t be the heaviest bulls to sell in 2024, but you’ll own them for a long time! Don’t overlook the 30 replacement heifers on offer, right from the heart of the herd, and sisters to the sale bulls. These Simmental females always make great cows, whether you want to keep them as registered or decide to breed them another way! We are available to bid and/or buy on your behalf if you can’t attend personally. We encourage you to be with us sale day but in the event you can’t, please feel free to call any of our cell phones listed for absentee buying options. It’s conflict free as we don’t own cattle ourselves so we are never bidding against you and also at no charge to you. We would enjoy hearing from you either way.

FLECKVIEH STATUS: Full Fleckvieh fullblood will have a minimum of 5 generations or more in their pedigree. It is recommended if further research is required to contact the Canadian Simmental Association and no assumption of fleckvieh heritage will be guaranteed by the consignor or CSA. SEMEN TESTING: All bulls selling at this sale over the age of 12 months will be semen tested by a certified veterinarian. FERTILITY AND HEALTH: All bulls and heifers have been under a full herd health program under the guidance of Edson Veterinary Clinic. All bulls have passed a Breeding Soundness Exam prior to the sale. WEANING DATE: All yearling weaning dates were taken on September 20, 2023 for the bull calves and September 28, 2023 for heifers. DELIVERY OPTIONS: Bulls will be delivered free of charge within 200 km of the farm as soon as possible after the sale at the sellers convenience. Over 200 km will require part way meeting locations or a cost. Bulls can be kept at the sellers farm at no charge until April 1, 2024. A charge of $6.00 per day will apply after that Heifers should be taken/delivered on or soon after sale day. It is recommended that the 2 year old bulls are taken/delivered in a timely manner, due to the difficulty in managing these mature bulls.

Welcome to our 20th Annual Sale. What an interesting year it has been around the farm. We started the spring off with some pretty major weather scares and evacuation orders due to fires approaching very close to our land. Luckily the community really pulled together during these stressful and trying times to help support all the people at risk of losing homes and infrastructure. We then moved into some major flooding in later spring but after that things seemed to smooth out. Crops were quite good and cattle prices have continued to remain strong making the industry appear brighter than it has in awhile. We decided to make a few changes to our sale this year. You’ll note that the date has changed to a Wednesday on the farm with lunch. We are also very excited to be switching back to a live auction with a video sale and to be teaming up with the crew at Transcon! We have worked with Transcon for the past few years in the Lone Stone Farms Invitational Female Sale and love the way they’ve supported our female bred heifer program. We really appreciate being able to bring them on board with our bull and heifer sale now as well! As far as our program goes, we continue to strive to produce the same high quality, affordable bulls for the commercial herd that we have built our herd around for years. This year in our Fleckvieh offering we have a selection of calving ease bulls from our Haiti, Director’s Cut, and Wolfe Fitzroy sires as well as quite a few polled fleckvieh bulls sired by our homozygous polled Benchmark and Golf bulls. There are a couple of neat AI calves on offer and we have many Sully sons with heavy pigmentation and lots of muscle.
In our purebred program there are a good variety of homozygous polled red and black sons. A few calving ease sons from the NUG Truffle bull as well as power and growth bulls from Major League and Rattler. Our homegrown Gibraltar bull sired by the LFE Amber Jack bull has a few bulls in the sale and he also calves fantastic and produces many dark red calves. We strive to produce bulls to fit a variety of programs and all are semen tested and guaranteed. Our replacement heifer calves are heifers that represent our herd and breeding program as a whole. All the calves at the sale are vaccinated as newborn calves with Nasalgen, an intranasal vaccine, and then boostered in spring with Pyramid + presponse and Vision 8 with somnus. They are boostered again in fall with Presponse HM, Express 5, Vision 8 with somnugen, and dewormed with Bovimectin and Clean Up II. We select our sale calves from our herd of 350 registered cows focusing on soundness, temperament, udder structure, and longevity as well as calving ease. To us it’s very important to aim for an unassisted calf with good vigor that hops up and nurses quickly. No one has the time to be pulling calves in this busy day and age or fighting with them to get colostrum during those first critical hours. Every one of our calves is weighed on a digital scale within 24 hours of birth. Once again our sale will be a live video auction on the farm. The bulls will be available to view on farm at any time and will be in pens for
the buyers convenience on Tuesday and Wednesday. Feel free to stop by whenever or check out the bulls online. Snacks and coffee will be provided daily with lunch on sale day. He’s showy and the typical red, goggle eyed Elevation son with nice muscling but not too large of frame size. His dam is a very well put together female who has done great in our herd and has a nice udder with good feet. We purchased the DT Eily cow through the Lone Stone Sale quite a few years ago and we have been quite happy with the Flamingo 19F cow. A full brother sold in our sale last year.

There’s calving ease potential in him from the Barcelona bull who we used with Tony Wolfe on heifers for 7 years. There’s also all the meat and muscling from the Spartacus bull. Levitate is really quite a neat combination.

His dam is a Furtive daughter and even though Furtive doesn’t have a high calving ease score, he sure did calve very well for us on young cows. We would have even considered using him on heifers he calved so well. His daughters have growth and milk and Jeanine is no exception. She is a combination of Furtive’s style and muscle coming from the Bonnie cow. Bonnie is another older cow who is still calving for us each year. Overall Link has a lot of calving ease genetics in his pedigree and a lot of potential.

We did use the Gilbert bull on heifers but have found him to work better on young cows. Homozygous Polled Purebred: Check out this deep, dark, thick bull of Ted’s. His dam also rocks that dark red solid coloring and so do many of his siblings. Ted has a small herd that we manage very tightly for him so his cows are known for awesome fertility and lots of growth in the calves. Our heifer calves are the pride and joy of our farm and what we are most proud of. We feel that over the years we have built our female program to focus on wonderful maternal instincts, docility, good feet and trouble free udders. Every year we struggle to choose which heifers will be retained in our herd and which we will part with since we love them all so much. We try to choose ones that represent the herdsires we are currently using. We select the heifers for our own herd at the same time as the ones for our heifer sales and aim to provide our buyers with a great representation of the kind of females we like to build our herd around. This year we have a fairly equal fullblood to purebred ratio and can say with certainty that we would happily keep every one of these heifers for our own use.

Terms & Conditions TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2.5% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers. BID - No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. INSURANCE – Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured. US BUYERS – There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer. CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate. ANNOUNCEMENTS – All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association. SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price. EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. EMBRYO & SEMEN – Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties. Any legal action that may be taken, in exceptional cases, must be between buyer and seller.

How to find us Follow the directions below or scan the QR code with your phone to open the directions in google maps. The farm is located halfway between Edson and Whitecourt on Highway 32. Turn west off the pavement at the blue Shiningbank Lake Park government sign (TWP 562). Follow this around to the west side of lake, staying to the left when the road splits off to the campground. At the T intersection turn north on Range Road 145A and then east 1 mile down the road on TWP 564. Our sign is in the field. Follow it all the way up into the farm.
