A generous, lifted, spicy nose, with cranberry fruit characters and a hint of cedar. The palate has fresh red cherry flavours and fine, polished tannins.

The nose has an exotic mix of ripe fig, bright red cherry and plum fruit with star anise spice, it’s lifted and pronounced. The palate has beautifully ripe red fruit characters alongside fig and date notes.

Extrovert on the nose – ripe red berries and vanilla spice. The palate has a cool red-fruited focus and a fresh drinkability, with fine supple tannins, good. Plantings: 35% Merlot, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot.

Ruby red in colour, this wine displays intense red fruit, spicy notes, over delicate tannins. It is a great match to roast dinners, BBQs or a cheese selection.
Chateau Talbot, Grand Cru Classé, St Julien | BORDEAUX, FRANCE
The Cordier family’s 100th vintage at Talbot also sees the highest ever percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, at 69%. Jean-Michel Laporte considers it, his second vintage, an exercise in “mastered power”. There is lots to admire – the fruit has lovely energy and bounces across the palate. A very good Talbot indeed.
