Each year, Women of Achievement selects 10 honorees from an extensive process that begins with nominations submitted by the public. The honorees are volunteers who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the betterment of the St. Louis region through unpaid voluntary contributions, volunteer

Among the winners, the nomination of Gabriela Ramírez Arellano stands out. Originally from Mexico and inspired by her own experience growing up in the US, Gabriela is committed to helping others. Since she returned to St. Louis in 2016, she has focused her volunteer efforts on supporting small businesses, economic development, and language access. Gabriela helps small business owners achieve her dreams through her work at CORTEX and with her Auténtico podcast in collaboration with STLPR. Her work at the BALSA Foundation promotes social equity and prosperity. Gabriela, an author and marathon runner, is so proud to raise amazing children who inspire her to help make the world a better place.

“We are highlighting a selection of notable women who are committed to bettering and supporting the St. Louis community through volunteerism,” said Pam Toder, president of Women of Achievement. “For 68 years, Women of Achievement has been proud to honor the extraordinary volunteer efforts of women across the region.These are women who are motivated to give back and find a way to do it as a volunteer. Their work is vital to nonprofits and causes throughout the region, and we want to call attention to them and thank them for their tremendous commitment and impact.” leadership, and a meaningful volunteer career.

The Class of 2023 honorees will be recognized at the 2023 Women of Achievement Luncheon on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis. Doors open at 11:15 a.m. Lunch ends at 1:30 p.m. During lunch, a 30-minute video will be shown about the honorees and their extensive service to the St. Louis region.
