Meet Natalie Sprite
Natalie Sprite was shortlisted for the Australian Vogel Literary Award for her novel Grace Notes. She is the winner of several literary fellowships and awards, including a 2016 Asialink fellowship, the NT Literary Awards and Australia Council grants as both a songwriter and a novelist. Straw into gold – a workshop on editing
90% of writing is rewriting. This is where the juice lies. You will learn about both structural and line editing. You’ll gain tools in plotting, pacing and how to sharpen the arc of your story. Learn what to take out, what to leave in and what to expand. Find the most effective way to tell the story you want to tell and turn your first draft into gold. Life on the page
We all have stories that only we can tell. During these workshops, you will learn how to write scenes that turn the key moments of our lives into stories that are compelling and beautiful. You’ll find your voice and discover how to structure your memories into stories. You’ll also gain tools in deepening your craft and developing a regular writing practice. Saturday 10 September 1 – 3pm at Cleveland Library
Write a story in three sessions
In these hands-on workshops, you’ll be guided through the process of writing three scenes that will form the bones of a strong short story. You’ll learn the nuts and bolts of writing craft, including plot, characterisation and how to create work that is vibrant and powerful.
