NADINE SUTHERLAND

Reggae Dancehall Queen release her powerful single "QUEEN"

Nadine Sutherland has re-released her powerful single “Queen” as an acoustic version in time for Mother’s Day. Taking to her Instagram page, and with acoustic accompaniment, Nadine introduced the new version by saying “”It’s important for women to hear themselves in this song and feel they can relate to the story I’m telling.”

Acoustic “Queen” hears Nadine Sutherland unplugged and uncut, emoting the journeys women take throughout their lives. Going deeper, Nadine weaves the narrative that when you see a woman standing, half of her story has not, and probably will never be told about how she got her gems in her crown.

“It’s a song I’ve poured my heart into. It’s about women who have gone through the wringer to be successful, who have been hit down and rise back up, and through it all women are Queens. She is you, because we’ve had so many similar journeys” says Nadine.

Acoustic Queen was recorded and shot on location at Anchor Studios with Neil-Prince Halliburton on guitar and engineered by Delroy “Fatta” Pottinger. Accompanying the release of the acoustic single is an official music video recorded and shot on location at Anchor Recording Studios.

MIKE MANNING

Emmy-winning Actor, Writer and Producer

As a multi-Emmy-winning actor, writer and producer, Mike

Manning has demonstrated a wide range of talents while working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. On television, Manning is most known for his role in Disney’s snowboarding movie "Cloud 9," on MTV's "Teen Wolf," as ‘The Manny’ on NBC’s popular drama series “This Is Us,” and as ‘Charlie Dale’ on NBC's "Days of Our Lives." Other TV credits include "Hawaii Five-0" on CBS, "Major Crimes" on TNT, "Crash & Bernstein" on Disney XD, Tyler Perry's "The Haves and the Have Nots,” and as 'Caleb McKinnon' on "The Bay" (Peacock), for which Manning won two Emmy Awards and was also nominated for an Independent Series Award. Manning has been recognized for his noteworthy performances in the civil rights feature "Son of the South" executive produced by Oscar-winner Spike Lee, and the third installment of the faith-based blockbuster "God's Not Dead." Other notable film credits include the WWII drama "DDay: Battle of Omaha Beach," "The Call" featuring Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell, the popular SHUDDER Original “Slapface,” and the Tubi Original romantic comedy "The Engagement Dress."

Growing up in Colorado, Manning showed an interest in stage acting at an early age, getting involved in high school productions like "Oliver!" and "The Secret Garden." He has since performed at the Santa Monica Playhouse in the production of Lisa Visca's original "Climax" opposite Rae Dawn Chong, and later the lead role in "Raise Me Up.”

Mike is also a voiceover actor, working as an English voice on some of the largest foreign Netflix shows in the world, including the worldwide Spanish hit "Money Heist,", France's "Lupin," Mexico's "Unstoppable," Italy's "Generation 56K," Brazil's "Spectros," and the Spanish Sci-Fi "Welcome to Eden."

RED INK MAGAZINE 8

In 2014, Mike executive produced the Showtime documentary "Kidnapped for Christ" alongside Tom DeSanto (“X-Men”). That year, the New York Post referred to Manning as an "up-and-coming producer to remember," and after co-founding his production company Chhibber Mann Productions, he's been creating meaningful content on both sides of the camera ever since. In 2023, Manning launched Mannifest Productions, aiming at continuing his producing endeavors, with a focus on representation and a variety of social causes.

Mike also produced the homeless youth documentary "Lost in America," featuring Oscar-winner Halle Berry, Tiffany Haddish, Grammy-winner Jewel and Rosario Dawson, and "The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson," directed by Oscar-nominated David France, which was a Netflix Original after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival. Other producing credits include: the SXSW thriller "M.F.A.," the Tribeca comedy "Folk Hero & Funny Guy" with Wyatt Russell and Melanie Lynskey, the SXSW award-winning drama "Jinn" (Filmmaker Magazine's "50 Most Anticipated Films of 2018”) and the Lionsgate family film “Powder Pup,” which Manning co-wrote.

Mike works with nonprofits that advocate for the poor, the environment, and equal rights. In 2010, Manning lobbied Congress on behalf of The Human Rights Campaign while a cast member on MTV's "The Real World." Since then, Mike has received proclamations from the New York City Council for his cause-related work. He's on the board of Boo2Bullying, Legacy Youth Leadership, and the world's largest youth-led clean water organization, Thirst Project.

Red Ink Magazine had the pleasure of asking Mike Manning a few questions, this is what this amazing, incredibly talented Actor/Writer/Producer told us. REDINK: Who or what inspired you to get into the entertainment business?

MM: For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to movies. I remember watching E.T. when younger and believing I'd make friends with an alien some day, or Rocky and believing I could be a world champion boxer, or acting out Aladdin or The Lion King with my neighborhood friends, running around the house or flying on a magic carpet. I think most kids are born with an imagination like that. Mine never went away. Continue on page 10

9 RED INK MAGAZINE

Continued from page 9

REDINK: How do you balance it all with your acting, writing and producing?

MM: At my core, I'm a storyteller. I find projects that excite me and I work my ass off to try and be part of them. Sometimes that involves me falling in love with a certain character and wanting to play that character on camera, wanting to dig in and live in that character's shoes for a while. And sometimes I don't have a place in front of the camera, but I still think the overall story is something the world should see, so I work to support the project in other ways on the production side. And then if there's a story in my mind that doesn't yet exist on paper, I'll write it and invite others to be part of that world with me.

REDINK: Do you have a preference of which you enjoy more?

MM: I love it all, but if I had to pick one, it would be acting. To me, there's no greater feeling than to be playing in the "sandbox" with other actors that love what they're doing, creating meaningful work, and then sharing that work with the world. "Becoming" these different characters is the most exciting part. I will say, however, that I do enjoy the freedom and ownership that comes with producing. I'm not just waiting for permission from others to work in certain movies or on TV shows. I'm creating my own opportunities, and there's something powerful and confidence-building about that.

REDINK: If you could collaborate with someone you never worked with before, who would that be and why?

people. I can't wait to share that one with the world. The character was quirky and comedic, which I don't get to play very often, so it was fun. I just started shooting Season 9 of The Bay, so that's exciting. Patrick Muldoon and Jennifer Taylor are playing my parents this season, so it's been wonderful working with them so far. And then I just started shooting a movie with Sir Anthony Hopkins that I co-wrote. He's one of my favorite actors on the planet, so that's been an absolute dream.

REDINK: It was great meeting you at a charity event at Lakewood Ranch in Florida for Samantha's Friends @_samanthasfriends_

MM: There are too many to count, but if I had to pick a few they would be: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, James McAvoy, Priyanka Chopra, Jodie Comer, Toni Collette and Dev Patel. Toni Collette in Hereditary, she was amazing. And Dev Patel recently in Monkey Man was incredible - which he also wrote and directed. All of these people are so incredibly talented and I'd love to work with them some day.

REDINK: Can you tell us about any projects that you are working on now?

MM: I just wrapped a movie called Unexpected Treasures. I was one of the leads. We shot in Joshua Tree, CA and I played an alien who is trying to escape the clutches of a group of bad

Tell us what this charity means to you and all the different charities that you are involved with.

MM: The Samantha’s Friends charity Gala Fundraiser events are great because they allow me to travel to Florida twice a year, to hang with fans, and to support a variety of charities. Usually the charities are smaller, so every dollar raised means a lot to them. At the events, actors from daytime shows come together and perform, take pictures, sign autographs, and auction off items for charity.

In addition to Samantha’s Friends, I’m an ambassador for Boo2Bullying (an anti-bullying organization focused on youth) and a board member for the Thirst Project (ending the global water crisis) and Legacy Youth Leadership (empowering youth to be activists for causes they care about).

REDINK: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

MM: Hopefully in 10 years I'm still doing what I love - creating movies, playing characters, writing scripts, working with people I like to tell stories that fill my soul. With 12 dogs. I better have 12 dogs in the future. Right now I have two and it's not enough.

REDINK: What can we expect next from you?

MM: I just started a podcast called "The Actor's Agenda" that's going really well, so I'm going to continue doing that. I meet with actors, singers and other industry professionals each week and talk to them about their journeys in the industry. And then for the rest, you'll just have to wait and see. ;) If people are curious, they can follow me on social media and I'll keep them updated. I'm @mike_manning_ & the podcast is @theactorsagenda. This concludes our interview with Mike Manning. He’s truly an extraordinary person with many talants.

Check him out on his social media platforms and his movies or just catch him at one of his charity events like we did. u

June will bring Aries a strong desire to travel and meet new people. Due to unfinished work, you will feel light fatigue and demotivation to work. However, don't let stress control you and go for a drink with friends who will help you clear your head and cheer you up.

This month, Taurus will struggle with negative thoughts and attitudes to life. Old blocks that you have been carrying for a long time will start to surface and may even cause mental problems associated with depression. Don't be devastated by it and, on the contrary, try to take it as a great opportunity for change, especially in your personal and love life.

June will bring Gemini the ability and desire to learn new things that will bring you a lot of success at work, so do not be afraid to ask about a salary increase. This period directly encourages you to plan an exotic holiday, where you will have time to study foreign languages and learn about a new culture.

June will be a month of love for Cancer. During this period, you will feel very confident and attractive, which will work as an aphrodisiac for others, and they will not take their eyes off you. You have a unique opportunity to choose, so do not be afraid to be demanding and use this opportunity to establish new relationships or only casual flirts.
