COOLIO

‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ rapper, died at age 59

Hip

Hop Superstar Coolio died of a heart attack at a friend’s house on Wednesday September 28th, 2002. Coolio was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. on August 1st, 1963 in L.A. He is most widely known for his incredibly famous ear worm song that has been in staple in clubs, movies and TV shows for three decades. Of course I am referring to Gangsta’s Paradise one of the most famous hip-hop songs of all time. It was originally released in 1995 as the hit song on the soundtrack for the movie Dangerous Minds. And later as a single it reached double plat inum status and then reached even higher fame after it was remade and parodied by Weird Al Yankovic in 1996 with Amish Paradise. And then in more recent times the song has seen a resurgence in popularity as it became a one billion view song on youtube. This was truly a song that stood the test of time and is just as popular today as the day it was made almost 30 years ago. Coolio was more than just a one hit wonder though. He per formed on albums with some of the G.O.A.T.S including Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Method Man and The Notorious B.I.G. He got his start in the early 90’s with WC and the MAAD Circle where he was there song writer and lyricist that wrote songs related to racism, black history and resisting the man (feds). WC later formed the group Westside Connection with Ice Cube and Mac 10. Coolio himself went solo in 1994 with the single Fantastic Voyage. Two other hit earworms for the dance floors around the world were Too Hot and 1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New) which debuted on a Double Platinum LP along with Gangsta’s Paradise. Coolio also went on to create the theme song Aw, Here It Goes! For the popular Nickelodeon show Kenan and KEl.

In addition to his musical success, Coolio also appeared in sev eral TV shows and movies, and had a bit of a philanthropic side, He was a spokesperson for Environmental Justice and Climate Change where he travelled and spoke to youths in predominantly black colleges and universities to educate the minority population on the dangers of Climate change and global warming. He also was a spokesperson for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America because both himself and his children were asthma suf ferers. And something many people may have since forgotten as politics in America have gotten ever so crazy… In 2020 he was the Vice President Running mate alongside Porn Star Cherie Deville as she ran for the democratic nod for President of the United States. An interesting life indeed. Coolio, you will always be remembered by your fans and may you rest in peace forever in your very own Gangsta’s Paradise.

Queen Elizabeth II

UK's

Queen

Elizabeth II, died on September 8th, 2022. She died under the care of her Physician and with her family present. The loss is devastat ing not just to the royal family and Great Britain but to the World at large. Queen Elizabeth II, was the longest running female Monarch in World history and second only to King Louis XIV of France to being the longest ruling King or Queen who ever lived. She ruled for 70 years and was beloved by all those under her Realms many flags and to most of the people around the globe.

She was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, born to Prince Albert, Duke of York, later King George VI and Elizabeth, Duchess of York, later Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. This was all during the reign of her Grandfather, King George V. Soon after her Father King George VI took over the crown after the passing of her grandfather and abdi cation of the throne of her Uncle King Edward VIII, she was named heir to the throne. After her father’s untimely passing and while she was still at the young age of 25, Elizabeth became known as Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and all British Territories and Dependencies throughout the Realm. Her Realm included 32 independent countries. Among those coun tries were 15 that remained under the Realm of the crown up until present day. Including Canada, The United Kingdom, Australia, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Belize, New Zealand, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, The Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu. She was Queen to all of them.

It is incredible that so many nations swore allegiance to one ruler for over 70 years. Among the countries that declared inde pendence from the crown throughout the Queen’s long tenure, are Pakistan, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji, Barbados, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, and several other African nations. In this modern day and age she was among the last rulers in the world to exhibit control over so many nations that were remnants of the Imperialist and Colonialist Eras of our world’s history. But let that serve as the primary testament to the love and respect that this magnificent woman garnered from the entire world. In this age of “freedom” and Self-identity, all of these nations chose to remain under her Majesty and her just rule and protection.

Throughout her Majesty’s long monarchy she was the most visi ble, travelled, and sociable British ruler. She met with 13 U.S. Presidents, 5 Popes, and she worked with 15 Prime Ministers in the United Kingdom and 179 Prime Ministers throughout the Realm of the Monarchy. She was also the first reigning monarch to visit Australia and New Zealand. And she later over the years made sure to tour the majority of the countries throughout the World, 116 countries in total. She also became the first British Ruler to visit a communist country when she visited Yugoslavia and later China on missions of Peace. There is a hardly a country in the world that hasn’t had some contact or influence from the Queen. As the government of The United Kingdom evolved into a parliamentary system with The Prime Minister and Parliament handling most international affairs, the Queen became mostly a symbolic Ruler, however it can never be denied that she was quite probably the most powerful woman who ever lived and she han dled that power with grace, dignity and fairness everlasting.

At an early age Elizabeth was given big responsibilities and han dled them diligently. At only 18 Parliament changed the law so she could act as one of five Counsellors of State in the event of her father's incapacity or absence abroad. And she executed this role many times including a visit to Italy in 1944, and later in 1951 when she toured Canada and visited with President Harry S. Truman on behalf of her father, The King. It was during a tour Australia, New Zealand and Kenya that her ailing father passed away and she was immediately declared Queen, while in a resi dence in Kenya. And even though she was married to Phillip Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh, she chose to retain the king dom under the Family name of her ancestors, the Windsor’s and did not take her husband’s name to the crown.

In 1947 while only 21, then Princess Elizabeth, gave a radio speech to The United Kingdom and the world on her 21st birth day declaring the following pledge, "I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong." And for her entire life she maintained this promise of service and honor. Proving how devoted the

Talk about dedication, most people in today’s millennial society refuse to go to work if they have a bad allergy day or a cold. Queen Elizabeth II was still handling matters of State impor tance up until her moment of passing. Truly extraor dinary.

The Queen was not all Pomp and Circumstance however, she began a new to the crown tradition of “Royal Walkabouts” where she would meet ordinary members of the public, regular Joe’s, just to try and show that she cared for all of her subjects big and small. She also hosted three annual Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace welcoming thousands of people each summer inside the gates of the Palace to receive accolades for service to their community. And to take things a step further, she loved to show her fun side whenever the situation allowed. For example during

the opening celebration of the 2012 Olympics in London, she posed as herself in a James Bond mon tage alongside Daniel Craig and for that appearance she received an honorary BAFTA for her patronage of the film industry and was called "the most memorable Bond girl yet." And then just this year at her Platinum Jubilee Celebration celebrating the 70th anniversary of her ascension to the crown, she acted out a comedy sketch with the mischievous and love able children’s show character, Paddington Bear. She was truly the People’s Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II lived a long and endearing life full of grace, integrity and genuine affection for the Empire under her domain and for the people of the World. She was equally loved back, by the entire world. She will go down in history as one of the most influential people who ever lived and even that will be an understatement. It goes without saying that Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor will be missed and remembered forever in the hearts and minds of almost everyone on Earth. Rest in Peace Your Majesty.

She was a chemist, a product developer and consumer all at the same time. I loved watching her process and it would begin my love affair with makeup.

M M E

Hello again RED INK foodies! In this issue we hope you enjoy our wonderful recipe selection for this month. We are always happy to share with our readers a fun recipe for you to try.

This recipe was first shared by Queen Elizabeth in a letter to President Dwight D. Eisenhower back in 1960. The original letter and recipe, which is available in the National Archives, reveals that the Queen served the pancakes (which are actually called "drop scones") to Eisenhower and his wife, Mamie, when they vis ited the queen at her castle in Balmoral.

Instructions:

Step 1

"Beat eggs, sugar, and about half the milk together, add flour, and mix well together, adding remainder of milk as required, also bicarbonate and cream of tartar, fold in the melted but ter."

The Queen's recipe ends there so in true royal fashion, there's a bit of secrecy when it comes to how long to cook them and what exactly is a teacup, anyway?

Here's what we suggest: 1 teacup = approximately 3/4 cup so you'll need 3 cups flour and 1 1/2 cups milk. Heat a griddle with some melted butter and drop the batter by the spoonful onto the griddle. Then, as is the case with pancakes, when bub bles start to form, flip to the other side and continue to cook until golden. The finished result will be pancakes fit for a queen!

Serve. Enjoy!

*Disclaimer: I am not a physician or medical professional. If you have any medical issues or concerns, please always consult your doctor before com mitting to a challenge. The challenges are intended for introducing small lifestyle changes in a fun and easy format

RECIPE:

Queen Elizabeth's Pancake Recipe

4 teacups flour

4 tablespoons caster sugar (or granulated sugar)

2 teacups milk

2 whole eggs

2 teaspoons bicarbonate soda (or baking soda)

3 teaspoons cream of tartar

2 tablespoons melted butter

With October coming, Capricorns will start separating from the outside world. You will feel fulfilled when being outside in nature, preferably somewhere by the water where there is a lot of fresh air. You will sort out your thoughts, and you will seek inner peace and harmony.

In October, Aquarians should be careful at work because their boss might try to get you and prove that you do something wrong. So do not give him/her a chance and show him/her that even though you are taking everything with humour, you are still perfect at work.

In October, Pisces will take too much on their shoulders, and they will not be on top of it at all. At the same time, you will expect too much from yourself, which will make the whole sit uation worse, and you will start feeling despair.
