Miguel Maestre releases Soca Anthem ‘Carnival I Miss You’

O

ntario (Sonique Solutions) – Torontobased artiste Miguel Maestre has released a new track which is dedicated to all Soca fans and international lovers of Carnival culture who share a common void due to the near 17 month lack of physical festival celebrations. The Trinidadian-Canadian, singer, songwriter, producer and audio engineer describes his new song as one for all Carnival enthusiasts who genuinely miss the feeling of freedom, sense camaraderie and general release that come along with the annual ritual and who eagerly anticipate a return to that happy place.

4

The energetic yet melodic Groovy Soca tune was written by Maestre, produced & mixed by Rich Persad and mastered by Grammy award winning engineer Inaam Haq. With bubbly synthesizers, vibrant guitar strumming and relevant lyrics, ‘Carnival I Miss You’ has so far gained wide attention and positive feedback from Soca-holics across the globe. The recently released track’s relatable refrain of “I feeling to fete again, I want to fete again, I long to fete again,” has tugged at the heartstrings of masqueraders, fete-goers and anyone associated with the tradition of Carnival.

RED INK MAGAZINE

‘Carnival I Miss You’ was released on Canadian record label One Love Nation Inc. Miguel who was recently signed to the label shared, “Getting signed to One Love Nation Inc has been a dream come true. I’m grateful for this opportunity that allows me the freedom to write, produce, create, sing and release a lot of music while keeping my focus on the things that are most important. We have a ton of music on the way including an album and several collaborations.” One Love Nation Inc’s Eb “Mr Ceqsi” Reinbergs echoed this sentiment stating, “Miguel represents both the island and international style of artiste we were seeking. Being the great writer and performer that he is, his song ‘Carnival I Miss You’ captures a feeling that all Caribbean and Carnival aficionados on this planet have at this current moment in our timeline. We are excited to release this track and share it with the world.” In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, professionally trained in vocals, the guitar, piano,

drums and cuatro, Miguel’s skillset also includes audio engineering and music production, thus making him a one stop music machine. With a fresh new single, new record label and a mission for non-stop growth, Miguel plans to continuously release music, resume touring and collaborate with a wide-cross section of artistes and producers within various genres of music. He remains thankful to the public for supporting him and his music and looks forward to engaging with new fans at live events in the very near future. “Carnival I Miss you” released by One Love Nation Inc. is available on all major digital streaming platforms. QUARA AHNYA

Q

has never limited his outlook, experimenting with different sounds to express himself. That commitment to diversity in music has helped keep him in tune over the UARA AHNYA

years. His music reflects personal and professional maturity. "When I first started music I was a boy with no real-life experience. As I grew into a man I learned more about life and the struggles and happiness that love can bring. By incorporating my life lessons, I used my lyrical ability to create my unique sound. Which brought forth smoother melodies because it’s coming from years of gained wisdom," he said. From East Kingston, he started his career as Ras Ikan. His early influences were a mix of lovers rock (Dennis Brown, Beres Hammond, Half Pint, Maxi Priest and Sanchez), and Dancehall (Capelton, Anthony B and Sizzla). Two years ago, he changed his stage name to Quara Ahnya, Hebrew for Call I. His songs, like No One and One For You, shows Quara Ahnya’s willingness to appeal to different audiences by recording lovers rock ballads. "What I am doing is singing about authentic love which speaks life into people that is roots in itself, bringing forth love and positive vibrations". QUARA AHNYA will be releasing a Seven (7) tracks EP in September 2021 and it will be produced by Yaadflame Productions, ALKEBU-LAN POWER SOUNDS and Sly & Robbie. Musicians including Sly & Robbie, Franklyn "Bubbler" Waul, Cat Coore, Dean Fraser, Aubrey 'Prince' Manning, Ansel Collins, Keith Francis, Mickey Fletcher, Andrew Bassie, Billy Congo, Bongo Herman and Robbie Lyn. Rolling Stones Drummer, Charlie Watts, has Played his Last Beat at 80

C

harlie Watts was the heart and soul of the Rolling Stones for the last 58 years. It was his drum beats that set the tone for every hit song that we all know and love the Stones for. It was his incredible drumming that created the tempo and flow for some of the most iconic hit songs like Sympathy for the Devil, (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, and Jumpin’ Jack Flash. I’d be willing to bet there are very few people, alive today, of any age group; that can say they don’t know these songs. These are American classics that are on the radio every day and the juke box every night, and it was Charlie Watts who set the beat. The Rolling Stones formed in 1962, but it did not become THE ROLLING STONES until January 1963, when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones recruited him after hearing him play at a London rhythm and blues club. Born on June 2nd, 1941, Charles Robert Watts, was born and raised in London, growing up in Wembley. Obsessed with Jazz records as a child, he grew up playing the first drum kit his parents got him along with the beat of the records of his favorite jazz musicians. His favorite artist was

18

Jazz drummer Chico Hamilton, and the person he credits with his love of Jazz and the Drums. Even though Charlie grew up loving music and becoming one of the world’s greatest drummers of all time; his first career was not music. After graduating from Harrow Art School, he started life as a graphic artist / designer for an advertising company. And this was also a passion, so much so, that he designed many of the album covers, record inserts and tour stages for the Rolling Stones personally. Watts was an icon and a legend, but he was never one for the limelight. He was much more about family than fame and never cared much about being the center of attention, he was never flashy or focused on solos in the music. He was more about creating the flow for the song and making the whole band great and letting the leads Jagger and Richards bathe in the spotlight. In an interview with the San Diego Tribune in 1991 he was quoted as saying, "I've actually never been interested in all that stuff and still am not. I don't know what showbiz is and I've never watched MTV. There are people who just play instruments, and I'm pleased to know that I'm one of them."

Charlie Watts was one of the greatest drummers of all time, and The Rolling Stones released this statement upon his death, “It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Charlie Watts; He was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and one of the greatest drummers of his generation." Along with the announcement, The Roiling Stones issued a short tribute video to their drummer. The tribute video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RREOsYR3xqE Soon after the announcement, many of the world’s greatest musicians took to twitter and Instagram to express their own words of sympathy and praise. The list is too many to count and add here, but I implore you to take to twitter and Instagram and see the amazing things people like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Duran Duran, the Beach Boys, and so many others had to say. Charlie Watts, you are a superstar, and truly earned your place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame. You will be missed but you will forever live on as the beat of the Heart and Soul of the Rolling Stones. Rest in Peace good sir, may you forever have your drumsticks in your hand and your drum kit set before you.

Instructions: 1. Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. 2. Cook the pasta to al dente according to the package directions. (Reserve some pasta water to add back in case the dish needs moisture.) 3. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until very fragrant but not browned, about 1 minute. Add the cream and Parmesan and cook, stirring frequently until the mixture begins to boil, about 5 minutes. Add the chicken and cooked pasta and carefully toss to completely coat, then continue to cook until

RECIPE: Caprese Chicken Pasta Ingredients: 1 pound penne pasta 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter 2 cloves garlic, finely grated 3 cups heavy cream 2 cups finely grated Parmesan 2 cups chopped cooked white meat chicken (from 1 rotisserie chicken) Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper 2 large red heirloom beefsteak tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick 1 pound fresh salted mozzarella, sliced 1/4 inch thick 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 1/2 cup torn fresh basil leaves

the mixture is smooth and thick, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and add the remaining 6 tablespoons butter. Carefully stir until the butter is completely melted and the sauce is glossy and creamy; remove from the heat. 4. Alternating 1 slice of tomato and 1 slice of mozzarella, shingle around the outer edge of the skillet creating a ring that covers the pasta. Repeat with the remaining tomato and mozzarella forming smaller concentric rings until the pasta is completely covered. Drizzle with the olive oil, sprinkle with some salt and bake until the mozzarella is beginning to melt but the slices still hold their shape and are still white, about 20 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes, then top with the basil and serve.
