fabric is one of the world’s most revered nightclubs. Launched in an era when so-called superclubs were taking hold of London, fabric was the opposite – a dark labyrinth set in a disused meat cellar, hidden deep beneath a derelict industrial stretch of the city. The sprawling building occupies the former site of Metropolitan Cold Stores in Farringdon, and since its opening weekend in October 1999, the club has welcomed millions of clubbers worldwide and held a place at the heart of club culture. fabric Records, the club’s beloved mix series, was founded in 2001. Alternating between fabric and FABRICLIVE, the series became an outlet for showcasing established and emerging names that reflect the values of the club and sounds played within its four walls every weekend. The series ran monthly across 100 editions until 2018. FABRICLIVE represents the finest in dubstep, drum & bass, jungle, breaks and experimental beats, whilst fabric covers house and techno, the breadth of talent displaying the far-reaching arms of both nights. The seminal series wrapped up in 2018 with closing instalments from fabric residents Craig Richards, Terry Francis and club founder Keith Reilly, alongside UK innovators Kode9 & Burial for FABRICLIVE. In 2019, the fabric presents series launched with an inaugural mix from Bonobo. The new label reimagined the iconic mix series into quarterly releases with an expanded roster of artists involved. It covers the wider range of calendar nights now on offer at the club and maintains the series’ place at the forefront of electronic music culture.

Houndstooth might come from the stellar team behind fabric, the worldfamous nightclub in East London, but the artist-led label is very much its own thing. Label head Rob Butterworth was already running fabric’s record label arm, responsible for releasing its fabric and FABRICLIVE mix compilations, when Houndstooth launched back in 2013 alongside Rob Booth, the curator of the award-winning Electronic Explorations podcast. Envisioned as a platform for focussing solely on unique, cutting-edge new music, the label’s artist roster includes UK talents Call Super, Special Request and Marquis Hawkes, as well as Swiss-Tibetan experimentalist Aïsha Devi, and Australian singer-songwriter Peneloppe Trappes. To give you an idea of how strong Houndstooth’s identity was straight out of the blocks, Resident Advisor featured Houndstooth as its Label of the Month within nine months of the label’s launch. Widely acclaimed for its bold sound of reshaping all strains of electronic music in their own image, Houndstooth caters for many tastes, with over 120 releases in seven years.

“Empathy is good, lack of empathy is bad, holy math says we’re never not together,” Caws declares at the end of “Something I Should Do,” a crashing power-pop track with an insistent melody that adds urgency to his thoughts about 21st-century life. The concept of “holy math” which informs that line – and the album’s title – was inspired by a Justin Vernon appearance on the Song Exploder podcast, where the Bon Iver leader talked about the interconnectedness of humans. “We’re all together, and that’s just the way it is, and the way it always will be,” says Caws. “That’s the sacred truth of it.” Never Not Together was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales, where artists like Echo & the Bunnymen, the Flamin’ Groovies, Iggy Pop and Oasis recorded albums. “I’ve been seeing the name on albums for so long,” says Caws. “It’s a working farm, and the founder/owner, Kingsley Ward, would come in and tell us stories when he wasn’t farming. I’d walk into town every morning and listen to the sheep talking as I walked by them.” That openness to listening – to their fans, to each other, to the world – has helped inform Nada Surf’s legacy as down-to-earth rock stars – musicians who can command festival stages around the world while connecting to audience members on a personal level, conscious of the shared humanity every step of the way. It was, and still is, a record that reveals something unexpected at every turn; one that found Scott-Heron pushing, probing and testing the limits just as he always had; always looking forward, still challenging conventions and expectations. To mark the tenth anniversary of I’m New Here’s release, XL Recordings will release a unique reimagining of the album by the acclaimed Chicago-based musician Makaya McCraven, whose work Russell first discovered after hearing McCraven’s “Above & Beyond,” from 2017’s Highly Rare album. Equally renowned and revered as a musician, drummer, sampler, beat-maker and producer, McCraven is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and original voices in modern jazz via a run of records that were at once genre-defying and redefining such as Universal Beings, Highly Rare and Where We Come From (CHICAGOxLONDON mixtape) for the highly influential Chicago label International Anthem. As the New York Times states: “Makaya McCraven has quietly become one of the best arguments for jazz’s vitality.” On We’re New Again – recorded and produced in the main at his Chicago home studio with a host of close-knit musicians - McCraven fuses the kind of killer, improvised live musicianship and electronic, sample-based approach to recording he’s renowned for with that vocal – the deep, stop-you-in-your–tracks, worldlywise voice of Gil Scott-Heron – to enormously powerful effect. The resulting record is a sonically rich, totally original yet deeply respectful accompanying piece to Scott-Heron and Russell’s original work and is the latest stage in the evolution of a record that was previously remixed by Jamie xx in 2011 for the groundbreaking collaborative album We’re New Here.

Recorded in 1989 but unreleased for decades, The Island transported listeners to Brazil, with all of its mystique and magic. Producer Sergio Mendes of Brasil ’66 fame and arranger-guitarist Dori Caymmi joined Mathis to subtly modernize the classic sounds of bossa nova and samba. He delivered some of his most sensual vocals ever for ten smoldering songs by Caymmi, Mendes, Ivan Lins, Brenda Russell, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and others. Featuring a small rhythm section including talents like Robbie Buchanan, Paulinho da Costa, and Toto’s Jeff Porcaro, The Island is one of Mathis’ most beautiful, intimate recordings. STREET DATE: FEBRUARY 7, 2020 If this 1972 record for the Paula label was the sum total of Dallas, Texas soul man Bobby Patterson’s career output, then he’d still be reckoned a cult figure among R&B fans. In fact, it’s so good that the fact that he went on to cut five other albums and produce artists ranging from Fontella Bass to Chuck Jackson to Little Johnny Taylor almost seems besides the point. This is a stone soul masterpiece, full of grit and groove, with a breathtaking stylistic breadth stretching from funky soul (“If You Took a Survey”; “How Do You Spell Love”) to romantic soul balladery (“I Get My Groove from You”) to James Brown-style workouts (“Make Sure You Can Handle It”) to socially-conscious, wah wah-drenched commentary (“The Whole Funky World Is a Ghetto”) and all points in between. But what really makes this record mind-blowing is that Patterson wrote all but one song (the one he didn’t write, “Right On Jody,” is an answer song to Johnnie Taylor’s big hit “Jody’s Got Your Girl and Gone”). For its first-ever LP reissue, we’ve pressed up 700 copies in transparent purple vinyl and re-created the original album art complete with lyric sheet. Every soul searcher needs this one!

S. Raekwon was born out of the need to create something beautiful during a period that felt colorless and transitory. Finding himself alone in a new city following graduation, Steven Raekwon Reynolds embraced his new-found isolation, throwing himself into his music, the only goal to create something both personal and beautiful.

Indeed, even the name of the project holds a great weight, the use of Steven’s middle-name ‘Raekwon’ an attempt to reclaim a part of himself he had previously tried to hide. “I have named the project after my middle name, Raekwon,” Steven himself explains. “Growing up I suppressed this name. I hid it from my friends and those I met. Being biracial and raised by a white single mother, questions of identity consumed me as a child. They still do. And while much has changed since then, I will forever be shaped by those feelings and experiences. I want to make songs that are honest. Releasing them under my middle name seems to be the most honest thing I can do.” Finding moments of clarity after passing through a personal storm, the first fruits of Steven’s labour arrive in early 2020, his debut work released as part of Saddle Creek’s burgeoning 7” Document series. It’s also, notably, the first music to be released by Saddle Creek that arrived via the label’s online demo submission page, a leap of faith from both which kick-started this journey. Offering a striking snapshot of S. Raekwon’s considered craft, the two songs here were recorded in his small studio apartment, where he wrote, recorded, produced, engineered, and mixed everything himself.

Making for a wholly thrilling introduction to the artist behind them, lead track ‘Parts Towards Whole’ blends Steven’s musical inspirations, which range from James Blake and Frank Ocean, to Grouper and Nicolas Jaar, to create a meditative reflection on sustaining a relationship; on “the beauty and doubt at the heart of that feeling,” as Steven himself puts it. Literary influences are also present in Steven’s work, and he cites Milan Kundera’s surreal and intimate ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ as a key influence on the 7”, while b-side ‘A Crow’s Smile’ was directly inspired by Haruki Murakami’s Kafka on the Shore, which he read at the recommendation of a friend in order to help combat a crippling bout of insomnia and anxiety, and which pertinently shaped the songs final form. * Taking inspiration from the original concept behind the founding of Saddle Creek, as an attempt to highlight our home city through music and art, we began the Document Series in 2017. Each release featured in the Document Series is comprised of an exclusive record featuring unreleased music from artists outside of the label's roster, along with a specially curated zine created by the artist.

Hamerkop is a pair of Baltimore-based sound nerds: Annabel Alpers, the composer, singer and instrumentalist formerly of New Zealand’s Bachelorette, and Adam Cooke, a Baltimorean drummer/audio engineer with credits that include Beach House, Wye Oak and Future Islands. Together, they have created a song-cycle that contrasts the often-mundane (yet often satisfying) everyday world with that of the idealized, longed-for fantasy, to find the spaces in between these things, the place where we all feel good about our existence.

Hamerkop’s debut, Remote, started as an exploration of the sonic beauty in Alpers’ collection of field recordings from her homeland and travels around the world. Looped and sampled, they became a set of instrumental sounds of their own, and when played live in a multiple-speaker, surround-sound experience, their effect was transporting. The finished album blends these expansive sounds in choral layers of synths and vocals, with a kaleidoscopic, almost psychedelic quality, all of it anchored by Cooke’s Kraut-minimal drumming. Remote is a natural progression from the criminally-underrated Bachelorette catalog — seeking catharsis through the contextualizing of personal texts into lush songscapes, using the chill of synth-pop to mask the fallible human soul hidden behind it. Far away from her native New Zealand with a new life and family in America, Annabel strove to find elements of her old identity in new environs, building songs out of sonic scraps from remote places, as if she were sewing a blanket in which to wrap them all. As she puts it, “Home for me is in two places, and it’s been causing a lot of creative tension because I wish I could be in both places at once.” The songs of Remote find depth and dimension via a rich tapestry of voices, found sounds and classic pop melodies, as constant synapse triggering from unexpected angles and algorithms reveals, by chance and design, a magical inner life scored by birds and babies, church bells and bonfires. Genre-defying, yet familiar, Hamerkop translates the topography that stretches out between us into a musical language that celebrates our shared places. The sound of Hamerkop is multi-layered, changing as it revolves. It’s the sound made by two people, but it could be all of us.

The third album on Black Focus continues the South London tradition, but this time in the form of one of the originators: a triple OG, Steve Spacek. Spacek recently released a solo record through Alexander Nut’s imprint Eglo, dBridge's Exit Records as Blackpocket, following on from his work with Ninja Tune under the Beat Spacek moniker, and collaboration with Mark Pritchard as Africa HiTech on Warp. He's also made formative work with legendary artists J Dilla, Raphael Saddiq, Q Tip, Common and made early drum'n'bass tunes with his brother dBridge. It’s an incredible career resume and an honour to be releasing this new work. 'HOUSES' sees Spacek return to his Detroit influences, with house music at the heart of this record as its foundation but as with all Spacek's releases, it transcends genre and focuses more on swing, melody and feeling. There's elements of soul, jazz & r&b interlaced within the DNA of his electronic music, alongside his signature falsetto vocals. Fans of the Berlin based Nils Frahm are by now familiar with his beguiling live shows where more often than not fellow touring artists are encouraged to join Frahm on stage – the likes of Rachel Grimes, Rob Lowe of Balmorhea as well as label colleagues Peter Broderick and Ólafur Arnalds have all obliged with fascinating results. It will come as no surprise then that Nils Frahm, an accomplished composer and producer who signed to Erased Tapes in 2009, has extended his collaborative live musings to encompass the recording studio, working for the first time with noted cellist and fellow Berliner Anne Müller to produce 7fingers. With their first collective release Frahm and Müller have built a world where modern classical and electronica collide creating an ‘intoxicating and delicious’ collection of songs. Primarily a pianist Nils Frahm provides evidence with 7fingers that he can effortlessly turn electric throwing in loops, samples and glitches to accompany and showcase Müller on cello. Anne Müller, a renowned musician noted for her work with the Wolf-FerrariEnsemble, Phillip Boa and recent tours with Agnes Obel, proves an amp musical partner for Frahm. As the recognition continues to grow for Nils Frahm’s previous solo piano works Wintermusik and The Bells, 2011 sees a new side to this young talent as he embarks on a detour into strings, symphonies and glitch beats alongside the estimable Anne Müller.

I asked my friends the Parkington Sisters to record him reading them aloud and then write music around his voice. These words have given me comfort and strength and bring me peace whenever I read them. CONTRIBUTORS: Peter James Caws was born in 1931 in Southall, Middlesex, now part of west London, in a house that can still be seen from the train between Heathrow and Paddington. In 1953, after earning a Bachelor of Science in physics from the University of London, he left for the United States, where a one-year fellowship at Yale grew into a Ph.D. in philosophy in 1956. He taught at Michigan State University, the University of Kansas, the City University of New York, and finally at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he is now University Professor of Philosophy Emeritus. He has published over one hundred scholarly articles and is the author, editor, or translator of eleven books. Ariel, Rose, and Sarah Parkington are sisters who grew up on Cape Cod. They began performing together on the streets of Provincetown in 2005 and have been touring and releasing music as Parkington Sisters ever since. Line Hoven’s debut novel, Love Looks Away, has been translated into a number of languages. Line illustrates novel and album covers and her scratchboard works regularly appear in magazines. She lives and works in Hamburg.

Acerbic yet winsome Scottish indiepoppers The Just Joans return with the dazzlingly maudlin collection of songs that hazily recall the past and contemplate the futility of the future. Follow-up to 2017’s You Might Be Smiling Now… and contains the kind of melodies and mockery that led Uncut to class the band as the point at which “Stephin Merritt lies down with The Vaselines.” At the forefront remain the mischievous lyrics and heartfelt vocals of siblings David and Katie Pope, aided and abetted by Chris Elkin on lead guitar, Fraser Ford on bass guitar and Jason Sweeney on drums. Yet it is the recruitment of multi-instrumentalist Arion Xenos and guest appearance of Butcher Boy’s Alison Eales to arrange strings that have helped elevate the band’s music to new heights. Their progression is most noticeable on lead single “Dear Diary, I Died Again today”, a painfully beautiful admission of everyday anxiety and “When Nietzsche Calls”, the triumphant cry of a spurned lover revelling in the misery of their ex to a backdrop of trumpets and violins. The juxtaposition of the fragility shown in these tracks with the menace of “Wee Guys (Bobby’s Got A Punctured Lung)” – an observation and understanding of the casual violence that once cast a shadow over the band’s hometown – highlights The Just Joans’ ability to seamlessly flip between sensitivity and danger, and sums up why Highway Queens described them as the “perfect Glasgow kiss.” The Private Memoirs and Confessions of the Just Joans is a veritable smorgasbord of misery, longing and unrequited love; stories of small town resentments, halfforgotten school friends, failing relationships and awkward workplace conversations. Sheepy from Liverpool play pop punk with mega catchy songs, tight hooks and lovely harmonies. Since 2012 the band toured across the UK and Europe. I had a crazy idea and was looking for musicians who perhaps didn’t ❝ think it was so insane.” - Dave Alvin Dave Alvin, Victor Krummenacher (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven), Michael Jerome (Toadies, Better Than Ezra) and David Immerglück (Counting Crows, Camper Van Beethoven) form the core of this group of seasoned musicians, who have joined forces to take a trip back to the psychedelic folk/rock sound of the late 1960s and early 1970s. They put their own spin on songs made famous by Alice Coltrane, 13th Floor Elevators, Fred Neil and others, plus an original song, “Claudia Cardinale,.” The First Edition CD and LP contain 2 remixes of “East West,” including one by Tchad Blake. “Many years ago I’d been reading John Szwed’s excellent biography of Miles Davis, “So What”, and was fascinated by his thorough descriptions of how Mr. Davis and his producer, Teo Macero,created some of his classic electric albums like Bitches Brew and Jack Johnson. Basically, Miles would gather great musicians in a studio, pick a key and a groove and then record everything live over several days. Then he and Mr. Macero would edit and shape these improvisations into compositions. Having never recorded like that, I had a fantasy to try it someday if the fates ever allowed.

Young Enough, Charly Bliss’ follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut Guppy, was embraced by critics and fans alike in a way that sophomore efforts often fall short. With critical acclaim pouring in, Hendricks, bassist Dan Shure, guitarist Spencer Fox and drummer Sam Hendricks spent most of 2019 on the road worldwide, making new fans everywhere they went. But the sessions for Young Enough were overly abundant. “We wrote too many songs and slowly whittled it down to the ones that told the most vivid and concise story,” recalls Hendricks. Aside from the song “Heaven” (named Best New Track by Pitchfork), which the band released as a standalone single last fall before opening for Death Cab for Cutie across the US, the tracks that didn’t quite fit on Young Enough weren’t planned for release, until now. “We’re so excited to release Supermoon, a small collection of songs that helped us get there,” says Hendricks. When listening to Supermoon, fans of the band can follow the path from Guppy, a brash punk album made by a group of scrappy upstarts, to the new sense of depth, maturity and pop sensibility found on Young Enough. “I think Supermoon fills in the cracks and enhances the narrative of Young Enough,” says Hendrix, “It shows you how we got where we were going.”

(Limited Hand-Numbered 4-LP 180-Gram Vinyl Edition) STREET DATE: FEBRUARY 14, 2020 For our second vinyl expedition into the Grateful Dead vaults (having sold out of Dick’s Picks Vol. 34), we’ve landed on one of the most momentous shows in the band’s long history: the March 23, 1974 show at the Cow Palace that marked the first appearance of the famous (or infamous, depending on which Dead Head you ask) Wall of Sound concert PA! And, since the calling card of that amplification system was its crystal-clear fidelity, we have taken absolutely no chances with the sound on this vinyl release: the show was mastered from the original analog tapes by long-time Dead engineer Jeffrey Norman at Mockingbird Mastering, and the venerable John Golden (who’s cut lacquer for everyone from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings to Jonathan Wilson to Soundgarden) at Golden Mastering cut the lacquers. It took two rounds of test pressings to run the approval gauntlet of Norman, Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux, and Real Gone’s own Gordon Anderson, so rest assured you’re getting the very best vinyl listening experience we can deliver, and the 180-gram vinyl pressing ensures minimum warpage and surface noise. In short, you’ll hear the same unprecedented sonic clarity that Bear envisioned when he put together the Wall of Sound PA…and indeed the set includes the note from Bear that accompanied the original CD release as part of the 4-page, fullsize, full-color insert that lies inside the color hardshell box containing the four LPs (which are housed inside poly-lined sleeves). Aside from the debut of the Wall of Sound, the 3/23/74 show is notable for several reasons. First, it featured the debut of two songs, “Cassidy” and “Scarlet Begonias,” that were to become staples of the band’s repertoire. And, second, this show marked the third and last appearance of the “Playing in the Band/Uncle John’s Band/Morning Dew/Uncle John’s Band/Playing in the Band” medley, and you can see why…it would be very, very hard to top this performance, which stretched its “Playing in the Band” segments almost to their breaking point. Katy Moffatt is all perfection and substance, an endearing figure in the music business whose talent is just as admirable. Sturdy and enduring, Moffatt’s beauty belies the great strength of character with which she operates. Both in the studio and on-stage, Moffatt is a power to be reckoned with. Subtle and soft, she reaches out to her audience and takes them by the heart. As both an interpreter of the work of other songwriters as well as a marvelous voice for her own compositions, Moffatt sparkles. This time around she covers Chris Smither’s gigantic blues hit “Love Me Like a Man” with aplomb and grace, while retaining all the baser animal instincts Smither so delicately wove into his song. Just as good is Cole Porter’s “Miss Otis Regrets,” an out-of-time tidbit that comes to life in an different time and place. Steve Goodman’s “I Just Keep Falling in Love” is brilliant. As for herself, Moffatt presents several wonderful tunes which she wrote with longtime friends Tom Russell, Rosie Flores, Wendy Waldman and her brother Hugh Moffatt. “Jigsaw Love Affair,” “The Game,” and “Mother of Pearl” are reflective of the high caliber of talent both Moffatt and Russell possess. Moffatt and Russell came up with the Eagles-esque “Thinkin’ with My Heart,” which is what you start doing after you’ve lost your mind. She and Flores (with help from Wendy Waldman) cooked up “Ruin This Romance,” a bouncy, funny tune about a boy who just won’t take a hint and go away. On her own, Moffatt wrote “Kansas City Mornin’,” a lovely ballad about lost love. The production is simple and spare - proving that it doesn’t take a lot to make good music burn brightly. Magnificent is the only word one can use to describe this steely yet gossamer-like project. Moffatt never sounded better.

Her voice is more forward, often densely layered in choral laments above a coarse foundation of hard and brittle sound design, the latter of which is rooted in her film school training. Lyrics are rooted in the events she was experiencing, but describe personifications and abstracted feelings. Jamaica All Stars Vol .1 and Vol. 2 were never officially reissued, making this compilation of the two albums the first time the material has ever gotten a proper reissue. Produced by Studio One founder and “Father of Jamaican Music” Coxsone Dodd, Jamaica All Stars exhibits the quality of musicians that Jamaica had to offer in the ‘70s. Placing iconic artists like Ernest Ranglin and Hortense Ellis next to lesser-known vocalists like Jerry Jones and Winston Francis, the high quality of Studio One rocksteady, roots, and ska stays the same. ‘3D Routine’ has arrived. Following on from their ‘Induction Party E.P’, Mush are circulating their own sonic mythology, blurring the lines between abstract surrealism, existentialism and social commentary. Like its predecessor ‘3D Routine’ is a sensory overload of clattering, hooky, guitar work. However, this time space emerges between the onslaughts and in this respite, room is found for new emotional depth. More expansive than ever before, ‘3D Routine’ manages to maintain the rawness of a classic debut but it’s experimentation and variety portray a band unlikely to rest on their ‘guitar band’ chops. Songwriter Dan Hyndman explains the genesis of the band as being “fairly boiler plate” a combination of friends old and new converging in Leeds post-uni to form a band predominantly united in their mutual affection for the Pavement back catalogue. Finally settling on a lineup of Nick Grant (bass), Tyson (guitar) and Phil Porter (drums) the band’s progression has taken them far beyond this original vision. Having garnered local attention in the early days for their unhinged and often calamitous live shows in Leeds, it was the unlikely radio hit ‘Alternative Facts’, (clocking in at an uncompromising ten minutes) that brought the Mush to the attention of a wider audience. The song, one of the last releases for the legendary Too Pure Singles Club saw early support from Marc Riley and others on BBC 6music with them playing multiple sessions, and the follow up single, ‘Gig Economy’ hopping onto the 6music playlist. Roaming further afield from their hometown, Mush spent the first half of 2019 heading out around the UK, earning a reputation for their intense live performances, supporting the likes of Girl Band, The Lovely Eggs, Yak, Shame and Stereolab, as well as releasing the ‘Induction Party’ EP to great acclaim. At the tail end of summer of 2019 Mush headed to Leeds’ Green Mount Studio and with Andy Savours (Dream Wife, Our Girl, My Bloody Valentine) manning the mixing desk, their debut LP, ‘3D Routine’ was born. The way in which the album brazenly moves from polished 3minute punk tracks, to avant-garde spoken word, to sardonicpolitical funk, whilst sounding like the same band is testament to an uncompromisingly unrefined ethic and compounds the jarring nature of Mush. Together, the songs form a unified, abrasive, emotive, frenetic and entirely beguiling concoction of sound and opinion, a fast-moving snapshot of current times, relatable, politically minded and incredibly personal. Music for those who want their guitars loud and weird, and their political commentary a little less ‘on the nose’.

Andre Canniere is an acclaimed trumpet player, composer and educator currently based in London. Originally from rural Pennsylvania, Canniere spent the first five years of his career in New York City where he worked with artists such as Maria Schneider, Becca Stevens, Donny McCaslin, Kate McGarry, Ingrid Jensen and Darcy James Argue. Since his arrival in the UK, Canniere’s profile has been steadily rising, both as a solo artist and a collaborator. In 2012 Canniere released his critically acclaimed debut Forward Space on Whirlwind Recordings (“the new label of the moment” - BBC Radio 2) which Jazzwise hailed as “one of the best recordings in a long time” and listed as one of their ‘Best Albums of 2012’. The following year Canniere released ‘Coalescence’, his second Whirlwind album which was equally lauded by the press and firmly established Canniere as “one of the most compelling artists on the current London jazz scene” (The Scotsman).
In 2016, Canniere released his third album ‘The Darkening Blue’ on Whirlwind, “a fine example of a stellar line-up achieving a remarkable amalgam of depth, warmth and sensitivity." ★★★★ All About Jazz As a composer, Canniere has been described as an “imaginative newcomer” whose music is “audaciously crafted” and “shows glimpses of an unusual fluency and freedom within the context of a dense and rhythmically intricate contemporaryjazz sound” (The Guardian).
