A bracing mixture of something akin to blues-based Southern rock and pure British Invasion-influenced pop. – WYMA
Hollis Brown make music that sounds just as alive today as it would’ve in 1966 and will 40 years from now. – SPIN
Ride On The Train is the group’s debut full-length album, and it’s a gem, full of memorable songs and a sharp, taut sound that only includes what is necessary to put the song over. – ALL MUSIC
Their well-crafted songs are rooted in the blues and feature pop hooks that sink in and don’t let go. – CMT Fully honest, slightly bluesy, and all-American. – ROCTOBER
(Ride On The Train) might be one of the best rock records you’re gonna hear all year. – The COUCH SESSIONS
(Ride On the Train) Their debut is something to behold. – HEAR YA
Packed to the brim with sterling songs that measure up to those covers they’re so fond of playing live. – KUT (Austin)
It’s easy to see how Hollis Brown’s sound could be as relevant years down the road as it is today. – PASTE

Overview
WARPCD254/LP254/LP254X
“This album is everything I’ve been working towards. I wanted to make a classic - at least for me and my friends. I never wanted to be any genre. I wanted to be my own thing. Everything.” – Hudson Mohawke
This summer Hudson Mohawke will release Lantern, his first solo full length in nearly six years. The producer has been on a meteoric rise, working with some of the biggest names in hip hop, pop and dance music. From age 15 he was an award winning scratch DJ producing happy hardcore on cracked software - he came to define a generation of electronic fusion producers but unlike many of his peers, Hudson has matured into a fully fledged contemporary hitmaker continually working to break the mold.
Format: Indie-only Limited Edition Vinyl Boxlot: 15 Price: $24.99 Packaging: 2LP in gatefold with addl print and DL card with bonus download track “Sex”
Born of the underground club scene in the UK, ‘Hud Mo’ has been cultivating a formidable presence in the community, right from the earliest days producing on Fruityloops from his bedroom. His US break-out came in 2012 with TNGHT, the collaborative project with fellow producer Lunice, which saw their production influence the A-list in rap (being jumped on by the likes of Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne) and help reintroduce the US dance / EDM scene to Hip Hop as club music. In the two years following, Hudson has worked on releases from Drake, Kanye West, John Legend, Young Thug, Pusha-T, and Antony Hegarty. Despite becoming one of pops go-to producers, to his avid fans he’s never been tied to one genre - and with Lantern we hear the realization of everything he has been working on since that Glasgow bedroom.

“Dirty Spliff Blues” is Left Lane Cruiser’s 5th album for Alive Naturalsound, and the first one as a trio. The blues-driven rock’n’roll noise combo, now firmly headed by slide guitarist and lead vocalist Freddy J IV (aka Joe Evans), with Joe Bent on bass and skateboard (yes, he uses his skateboard as an instrument), and with Pete Dio on drums and assorted trash, delivers another primal high voltage take on the boogie and Hill Country blues.

Mates of State’s new self-produced EP, You’re Going To Make It, is nothing but choice cuts: five anthemic and emotionally-rich songs that will quickly take up residence in your mental jukebox; five anthemic songs that wriggle into your every waking hour like the earworms they are.

Staring Contest Beautiful Kids I Want To Run Gonna Get It Sides Of Boxes
This new batch of tunes is Mates of State in its purest form. The razor sharp harmonies, shimmering new wave synth melodies, an internal warmth that can only come from a couple that has been musically and romantically involved for nearly two decades, and lyrics that speak to both personal and universal concerns. On “Beautiful Kids,” the band speaks to how, even though we are connected to one another 24/7 thanks to modern technology, a sense of loneliness still pervades. Or as Hammel puts it: “We all just want to be seen, but we won’t look up from our screens so that we can be seen.” “Gonna Get It” and “I Want To Run” build off the same inspiring notion of the EP’s title, encouraging both themselves and their fans to keep striving no matter what the odds. And fist-pumping opener “Staring Contest” speaks to that delicious ache of schoolyard crushes and youthful love.

Though conceived as a duo, Mates of State have never failed to generate a trademark wall of sound built on dozens of varied voicings of keys, drums, and alternately lushly-layered and playfully-dueling vocals. On Re-arrange Us they move beyond these boundaries (Kori’s traditional organ sound is a distant memory, replaced with organic piano and synth sounds) with additional instrumentation including lush strings, guitar, and horns to back up their already-honed melodic songwriting, which continues to shine on instantly indelible gems like “Get Better,” “Now,” and “Jigsaw.” Both this newfound broadening of instrumentation and the increased emergence of both Mates’ lead vocals signal the next stage of the band’s evolution. “On their latest, Re-Arrange Us, Gardner and Hammel show that they've grown a little older and wiser, with their richest and most reflective collection of songs to date.” - NPR "Adorned with piano and synth, the ten songs on Re-Arrange Us are fuller, more elegant vessels for the duo’s warm, intricate melodies." – Paste “The powerhouse Re-Arrange Us is both natural progression and quantum leap.” – Magnet

They say there’s no time like the present; what they really mean is there’s no such thing as the present. Five seconds into the future will be five seconds in the past once you finish reading this sentence. Translated into rock ‘n’ roll, terms, it means you’re either ahead of your time or past your prime. And we’re cool with that. We like categories and demographics and timelines because they allow us not to think; everything can be explained with the check of a box or a dot on a graph.

But Metric don’t let you off that easy. Their measures are decidedly cubist: eternal, multilayered portraits of instantaneous moments, the luminous blur of street life rendered as a freeze-tableaux, daily rituals portrayed in a fantastical light. This is music born out of sly, considered observation instead of gratuitous introspection — which makes it refreshingly anomalous in an era when so much popular music fudges the line between self-absorption and self-parody. Their debut album, OLD WORLD UNDERGROUND, WHERE ARE YOU NOW? launched Metric’s career and helped to usher in a wave (or New Wave) of Canadian indie bands such as Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire. They have since gone on to sell over a million singles and 500,000 albums worldwide. Finally available on vinyl, the album sounds as urgent and timeless today as it did in 2003 and like all of Metric’s music to date, OLD WORLD UNDERGROUND, WHERE ARE YOU NOW? isn’t so much a summation of influences as experiences. The old world underground they so romanticize; they’re not sure if it ever truly existed.

D J K O Z E DJ-KICKS DJ Koze – with his friendly and sometimes slightly melancholic take on the world – is one of the greatest auteurs of club music today, and one of the few internationally active DJs who dares to make music that has relevance beyond the dance floor. During the 70-minute journey on his DJ Kicks – the 50th edition – Kosi Kos manages to establish a uniform color even though genres alternate in a way that is rarely heard on a mix CD: the stripped down hip hop of Madlib, brutalist Berghain techno, timeless songwriting, floating indie-pop and outlier numbers that oscillate between absurdity and melancholy. Koze's disregard for the stylistic yoke presents him with an immense challenge. Hence, almost all the tracks are more or less
edited, and one is fully rhymed (Session Victim: Hyuwee). Koze rambles on here himself: "I didn't want to kick around sophisticated knowledge, but rather try and weave together some good gems that would make sense to anyone, even people who aren't necessarily music nerds". But this is blabbing that you can count on, also because he approaches the term "mix" from a different angle and doesn't even try to make something fit that doesn't fit: "During the day, I don't need to hear anything that's mixed on the beat. I put the focus on making sure that it works harmoniously – the idea is more to create the impression of a radio show, like people such as John Peel did so uniquely. There is a giant cosmos of music and it runs through my filter".

DJ VADIM & SENA GROW SLOW About There was once a young African princess who embarked on a huge journey in pursuit of her dreams. She arrived at a mystical island covered in clouds where she met a cunning wizard… Sounds like the beginning of some Disney fantasy but the truth is not so different. The Princess is Sena who came from Accra, Ghana to a festival in the centre of Budapest, Hungary and met a musical wizard by the name of DJ Vadim… that was in 2005. What happened that night was the meeting not only of like minded souls, but the beginning of a future journey into sound and space. First came recordings for Vadim for the Soundcatcher album Talk To Me (2007 BBE) which was much lauded by Gilles Peterson at the time… Which led to a long process of creating an album. Much happened in between. Each had many of their own adventures. Grammy Award shows, sell out arena shows for Sena’s band in Hungary - Irie Mafia - plus the birth of her beautiful daughter Kekeli and the release of her second solo album Lots Of Trees on French Soulbeats Records; world wide shenanagins for DJ Vadim with his groups, One Self, The Electric and many solo projects… Perhaps a good analogy would be the perfect pasta. One needs both to cook it exactly, not too hard or too soft and also a complimentary sauce. It takes time, love, effort and good ingredients. What’s the result, simple but delicious and what a perfect combination Sena & Vadim make also. Perhaps add some chile pepper to bring out the African funk mixed with London tricknology from the grimey east London hoods and that’s what it sounds like. It’s not just soul but has a peppery kick, a proud African roar with somewhat a Caribbean touch. Then again, that’s the Dubcatcher Vadim bringing his bass and skank to the mix. This isn’t rose tinted squeaky clean US R&B, this is a diamond in the ruff worldly spoken words, raps and emotions… Think Erykah Badu meets Damian Marley over the new upsetter hot steppa DJ Vadim… Key Selling Points • Full press & radio campaign UK, France, Germany, USA • Over 150 gigs globally in 2014, DJ Vadim will be appearing in a town near you soon • Massive online presence with over 150,000 dedicated followers • Limited Vinyl of the LP includes CD • Digital singles, videos, remixes to compliment

PAT TH O M A S & K WA S H I B U A R E A B A N D “I’m an afrobeat drummer but Pat Thomas is highlife. That is what he does so well.” Tony Allen Strut are proud to announce the brand new studio album by one of Ghana’s all-time great vocalists, “The Golden Voice Of Africa”, Pat Thomas, in conjunction with the Kwashibu Area Band led by multi-instrumentalist Kwame Yeboah (Cat Stevens, Patrice) and saxophonist Ben Abarbanel-Wolff (Ebo Taylor, Poets of Rhythm). Hailing from Kumasi, Thomas had lived with highlife legend King Onyina from a young age before working with Ebo Taylor in two of Ghana’s great 1960s highlife big bands, Broadway Dance Band and Stargazers. They would collaborate regularly, Pat contributing vocals to Ebo’s solo albums and Ebo arranging horns for Pat’s songs. Both would become a mainstay of the ‘70s and ‘80s Ghanaian highlife, afrobeat and afro-pop scenes, hitting big with the Ghana Cocoa Board-sponsored Sweet Beans band. Fela Kuti’s bandleader, drummer Tony Allen, would record a session with Sweet Beans in Kumasi in 1975 (as yet unreleased). “Highlife was our music,” Pat remembers. “People like Ebo and I modernised it, made it more relevant to our day. We took the Kwa music of Kumasi and other local styles and added Western elements.” With his distinctive flowing vocal style, sung in Fanti and Ashanti Twi dialect, Pat became established as one of Ghana’s biggest musical draws. During the ‘80s, Pat continued to stay close to highlife and, by the middle of the decade, had become the biggest star in the emerging “burger highlife” scene involving recordings produced in Berlin and Hamburg and exported to Ghana. Together with guitarist George Darko, his output added to the rich mix of cultures making the global reach of highlife possible. Recorded in Accra and mixed at Lovelite Studios’ analogue HQ in Berlin, Thomas’ new album marks over 50 years making music and reunites him with old friends: Ebo Taylor provides horn arrangements, Tony Allen contributes drums to several tracks, Osei Tutu (Hedzolleh Sounds) plays a memorable trumpet solo and prolific 1970s bassist Ralph Karikari (The Noble Kings) also features. Younger generation stars appearing include bassist Emmanuel Ofori, percussionist “Sunday” Owusu and Pat Thomas’ daughter Nanaaya, an acclaimed vocalist in her own right. The album features new full band arrangements of original ‘80s Thomas classics ‘Gyae Su’, ‘Odoo Adada’ and ‘Mewo Akoma’. Abarbanel-Wolff explains: “By the mid-1980s, Ghanaian music had started to use digital production and the heyday of the “golden era” was over. With this album, we wanted to continue the tradition of the late ‘70s sound and bring the roots back.” Kwame Yeboah continues, “We had to create our own buzz, keep the sound totally real - there are no digital, machine or sampled sounds here.” - New compositions also feature, including the superb, yearning ‘Me Ho Asem’ and the infectious afrobeat jam, ‘Odoo Be Ba’. ‘Pat Thomas and Kwashibu Area Band’ is released on June 16th 2015 on CD, LP and digital formats featuring hand-drawn artwork by Lewis Heriz and full sleeve notes. The campaign will feature remixes released in conjunction with Absolut Vodka.

JAY-JAY JOHANSON OPIUM It was in 1996 that Jay-Jay Johanson, a young man from a cold climate, fascinated by the Bristol sound they called triphop and Portishead in particular, first tapped delicately on our eardrums. In only a few songs he revealed a family tree that spread its roots far and wide: on one branch Chet Baker and Lee Hazelwood, on the other John Coltrane with Johnny Hartman, and in between a whole army of jazz or symphonic recordings sampled from everywhere imaginable. Almost 20 years later he has returned with an incredible new album called Opium. It contains the very essence of Johanson’s music: an ease with inventing melodies, a voice that gently caresses, and the jacked up, heady rhythms that lift and carry the songs. From the peaceful harmonica opening of Drowsy / Too Young To Say Good Night to the smoke-wreathed love song I Don’t Know Much About Loving, via titles with a sporadic and light groove (NDE, Alone Too Long), Opium is a courageous offering. Johanson opens his heart with fearlessness and modesty, gracefully lowering his guard and evoking the questions that torment men of his age: love, solitude, fatherhood, immaturity. The songwriting is unerving, the words have a suppressed poetry. This new Jay-Jay Johanson is the work of a guy who has survived the avalanches, who is no longer looking for answers and is content to sketch out the perspectives in as many songs. Some titles are serious (Harakiri), but others immediately take up the reins casting a more gentle, peaceful light, like Scarecrow, a collaboration with Robin Guthrie that would not have sounded out of place on a Cocteau Twins album, or of the strange positivity of Be Yourself or I Love Him So. The strength of Opium is that it asks questions that don’t necessarily have an answer; it offers a collection of songs freed from any certitude but which convince through their modesty, through their precision. In short, Jay-Jay Johanson at his best.

New Air Slowness Smart Thing Boy Happy Birthday Wind or Vertigo Genderless Framed On the Water, on the Way 10. Cold Light Home 11. Swam Out
‘Their debut masters the ache of post-party loneliness with bombastic bass, creating something that's both hedonistic and haunting’ 4/5 Guardian ‘Only a matter of time before they’re one of the country’s most important bands’ 8/10 Time Out At the beginning of 2014, Outfit found themselves scattered across two countries and three cities, separated by life and love from each other and from those closest to them. ‘Slowness’, the band's second full length LP due June 15 on new label home Memphis Industries, is the sound of its five members snatching intensive weeks to plant themselves in one place, with the tensions of touring, moving, and transatlantic relationships still weighing heavy in mind, to create an album with bold presence. ‘Slowness’ paints a portrait of distance using haunting piano, piercing synthesizers and guitars, all underpinned by Outfit's trademark rhythm section. It dwells on physical distance between lovers, the emotional distance when we return, and the ways in which we imagine each other thousands of miles apart. Over the stuttering synths of opener ‘New Air’, the duelling lyrics of vocalist Andrew PM Hunt and keyboardist Thomas Gorton are rooted in optimism and beckon an unseen presence to join them in a new life, whilst closer 'Swam Out' sees the band go from beaten and worn down to joyfully triumphant over the course of a song decorated with decaying Skype noises and 1am phone calls. The album's contrasting textures and timbres recall late period Talk Talk and other more expansive New Wave outsiders, but there is a deep sense of modern life to ‘Slowness’. ‘Slowness’ is Outfit's most cohesive work to date, a marked progression both sonically and emotionally, capturing the harrowing shock of being in love and apart, and the stillness of staring into screens. Ultimately, though, ‘Slowness’ sounds like a band coming to terms with themselves as artists and people to create an album that celebrates life's obstacles: a record made between New York, London and Liverpool -- a piece of work compelled by distance.
Evan Caminiti Meridian Thrill - 393
Evan Caminiti’s slow but steady progression towards electronic music from sand-swept guitar drone mirrors the pace of the music he makes. It has been measured, each move well-considered and clearly intentional. Caminiti has immersed himself in electronic production on Meridian, creating organic sounds through his machines, patching sounds that recall the brassy resonance of horns and hazy choral clusters. Synthesizers hiss and crackle under layers of reverb and fog. Sounds undulate and implode in upon themselves, with bursts of noise dropping in and out to create shadows of rhythm. Caminiti’s electronic systems do not run autonomously - the sounds heard on Meridian required real-time human interaction to bring them to life, and that human touch is essential to the mysterious atmosphere he produces on this new album. On Meridian, Caminiti expands upon the themes he began developing on two of his previous solo works, Dreamless Sleep and Night Dust, and with his other project, Barn Owl. Barn Owl’s most recent album, V, incorporated more electronic textures and layers than their previous works, hinting at the direction that Caminiti takes on Meridian. While Dreamless Sleep and Night Dust were centered around Caminiti’s guitar and his manipulations of the instrument, Meridian highlights Caminiti’s dextrous synthesizer work and production skills. Chiming tones float above monstrous swells of sub-bass, creating the illusion of a massive spacial divide. Caminiti adds rhythms and dynamic swells to abstract sonic textures and field recordings taken over the course of two years, grounding the album in specific times and places, however obscured from the listener. The album takes its name from the concept of energy flowing throughout the body along different paths called meridians. The pieces on Meridian were developed through live performance and made with the intention of being played at full volume, causing the sounds to course through the veins and along the meridional paths. The tracks pulsate and flow, from the throbbing beat of “Collapse” to the orchestral sounds of “Wire,” all connected by the foggy, atmospheric framework established on album opener “Overtaken.” Meridian was recorded and mixed in San Francisco and New York between 2013 and 2015.

JUKEBOX THE GHOST LET LIVE & LET GHOSTS
Jukebox the Ghost’s debut album, Let Live & Let Ghosts, released in 2008, laid the foundation for the band’s signature sound—piano-driven power-pop that disguises very thoughtful, often somber, lyrics. Their debut is definitely more raw than the albums that came later, but it contains songs that have become fan favorites and staples of Jukebox the Ghost’s live shows, including “Victoria,” and “Hold It In.” Yep Roc Records is proud to release the LP of this album, which has long been out of print.
HIGHLIGHTS: - Jukebox the Ghost will be touring with Ingrid Michaelson this summer - LP had a very limited first pressing, but is available again - “ Jukebox the Ghost have carved out a niche of piano pop rock bliss that is as good as it is fun. An outrageous Rhythm & Blues singer, overlooked by the music historians, whose spectacular performances ripped up 60’s Toronto “ the Good “ a scene better known for Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Ian & Sylvia, Gordon Lightfoot, The Paupers, Steppenwolf, The Band, (and yes) Rick “Super Freak” James and many others. This re-release of 9 Soul Shaking Sizzlers finally shines the spotlight on Jackie’s notoriety and showmanship. Originally a female impersonator, Jackie Shane, born & raised in Nashville Tenn., toured the “Chitlin’ Circuit” opening for performers like Etta James. A chance encounter at Montreal’s Esquire Show Bar circa 1962 landed Jackie the lead vocalist spot with Washington, DC’s R’n B Jazz outfit Frank Motley & The Motley Crew. Motley & Crew had found the promised land in Toronto, Canada, their new home base and they had now found a sensational front “ man “. Jackie Shane’s 1st recording of William Bell’s “ Any Other Way “ released regionally on Boston’s Cookin’ Label and Nationally on the Sue label landed the #2 spot on Toronto’s mighty CHUM Radio Chart in the spring of 1963. It remained in the charts for 20 weeks! Jackie re-wrote his rendition to include the lyrics “ TELL HER THAT I’M HAPPY, TELL HER THAT I’M GAY, TELL HER THAT I WOULDN’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY “ A re-release of the same song in 1967 charted for a SECOND time! Jackie sings a heart wrenching rendition of “ Any Other Way “ as the closing song on this record. By the fall of 1966 Jackie had given up Toronto for the sunny climes of Southern California, and was only lured back to the city that had so affectionately embraced him by an invitation from Motley to make a live record. They had had long residencies at the Saphire Club, just off Toronto’s notorious Young Street Strip. Assembled for these recordings were Motley, a couple of the old Crew and supported by Motley’s new group The Hitchhikers. Here then are the Dynamic Rock’n Soul songs recorded at Toronto’s Saphire Club available officially for the first time since the Original 1967 release…completely restored and pressed on RED WAX! OVERVIEW: This Spring the influential Visionquest label run by Detroit born, Berlin based DJs and producers Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss is to take stock of the ground breaking work they have done so far by offering up a compilation of their greatest moments to date. Coming as a fantastic three CD package, discs 1 and 2 will offer up some of the most memorable releases on the label so far, whilst disc three is a stunning back catalogue mix put together by none other than DJ Three. The Visionquest label has very much carved out its own sonic niche since 2011 when it launched. Spearheaded by cultured A&R, releases have ranged from deep house to spiritual techno and often come with a rare sense of melody that is both uplifting, colourful and charming. Artists revisited along the course of CD1 here include the seminal, game changing Walk & Talk from Benoit & Sergio, a killer Ewan Pearson remix of Footprintz and enduring hits like Maceo Plex’s Fallin, Laura Jones’ Let Me In and Tale of Us’ breakthrough track Dark Song. CD2 keeps up the pressure, reminding us just how wide the scope of the label has been, taking in artists old and new from across the globe. Dinky, Canadian outfit My Favourite Robot, legendary Brett Johnson and influential label boss Guy Gerber and countrymen Chaim all pop up with standout cuts that sound as great now as they did upon day of release. As for disc three, it is a perfect journey deep into the Visionquest world as curated by pioneering figure DJ Three. Touching on many different styles in a coherent and cohesive way, the energetic mix takes you up, down and round and round thanks to inclusions from artists like Pezzner, Konrad Black, the new one from Shaun Reeves & Tuccillo, a modern classic from Ryan Crosson & Tale of Us plus Butch, Rework and many more. This is a timely reminder of just how important the Visionquest label has been in the furtherment of techno. Rather than looking back, the label continually looks forward, unearths new talent, gets the best out of established names and continues to foment its own singular scene. This is the perfect encapsulation of the Visionquest sound and you are invited to get lost in it…

“The Sanguine Cadaver” is a new expedition through the percussion-centric world of drummer John Colpitts, better known as Kid Millions. Known for his driving force as the drummer of experimental rock outfit Oneida, as well as his personal conceptual percussion project Man Forever, Kid Millions is also a key player in a long list of amazing collaborations with artists such as William Basinski, Laurie Anderson, the Boredoms, Akron Family, Jim Sauter (of Borbetomagus), and many more. Throughout both sides of “The Sanguine Cadaver,” Colpitts expresses his complete devotion to the act of percussion, embodying and luxuriating in the physical and spiritual connection between human and drum kit. The first piece, “Begging Attire,” creates a cavernous sound world with the assistance of additional musicians on guitar, keyboard, and added percussion. A dense, dynamic wall of droning resonance is constructed, powerfully covering all corners of the frequency spectrum. Each musician’s respective sound flows in and out of focus, creating subtle shifts that alter the mood of the piece. Every instrument plays a specific role, never overpowering one another but instead working in a ritual unison, lending to the billowing, impenetrable qualities of the resulting sonic environment. Although rooted in static minimalism, “Begging Attire” is a far cry from peaceful ambiance. Instead, it sprawls forth in a menacing, ominous storm of deep tones and percussive metallic textures, eventually locking into a howling, almost Industrial ceremony of buzzing, churning squalls and slow, plodding rhythms. On the second piece, “For Jerry,” we find Kid Millions in a personal, exploratory space. This is the sound of one man and his drums, a complete physical immersion in rhythm through a catharsis of primal energy. Colpitts blazes forward relentlessly, never resting on one pattern or tempo but instead seemingly playing multiple ones simultaneously. “For Jerry” is, however, more than just an impressive display of chops. It is a document of a human reaching elevated levels of consciousness through intense, sustained interaction with his instrument. Wordless vocal chanting and tonal incantations make their way through the maelstrom, suggesting altered states of spiritual transcendence. The extended technique of the piece is not only a feat of strength and a challenge to the performer, but the listener as well. When Kid Millions plays, it’s clear that he puts his entire being into it, a quality that translates magnificently throughout all moments of this cassette.

Nu Trance by Wei Zhongle is an exciting moment in music. It explores oppositions of globalism and hermeticism, male and female, precision and feeling. Sounding like a broadcast from the future, This Heat and 80′s Downtown New York lay somewhere in its world mutant genetic imprint. The members of Wei Zhongle are nomads. The intuitive vocals by Rob Jacobs are sometimes in English but mostly in a language of his own, inventive but perhaps also channeling ancient vocal traditions, while laying down hypnotizing guitar. Sam Klickner’s forceful but intentional drums are a free ticket to Bonkersville. The effects-enhanced clarinet by John McCowen floats over and weaves through it all, pulling everything out in four dimensions. Minds are blown when these three elements merge. *Co-release: Vinyl & Digital versions available from Hairy Spider Legs.

The Swedish road dogs in fifth studio album, and follow-up to 2013's critically acclaimed Bombo. Devils features twelve newly written songs, penned by main man Pontus Snibb. This time there's a broader sonic spectrum and a more lively production. The album was recorded, just like Bombo, in bassist Martin Ekelund's own studio Lemon Recordings in Klippan, Sweden. ”This record has a tougher live vibe and sound than the previous one, as it was recorded almost live in the studio. We wanted to get as close to a live show as possible, to capture that magic that happens on stage when everything's coming together”, Pontus says.
