JOSH ROUSE

THE EMBERS OF TIME RELEASE DATE (CD/LP): 4/7/15

The Embers of Time is one of the finest collections in a celebrated career that’s earned Josh Rouse plaudits everywhere from the NY Times to NPR. Hailed for his “sharp wit” by Rolling Stone and as “a talent to outrank Ryan Adams or Conor Oberst” by Uncut, Rouse has long since solidified his status as a songwriter of the highest caliber over his ten preceding studio releases. Album opener “Some Days I’m Golden All Night” finds comfort in accepting that there are no easy answers. The album’s laidback, countrypolitan vibe—captured in part in Rouse’s studio in Valencia and in part in his former American home base of Nashville with producer Brad Jones—continues on “Too Many Things On My Mind,” which was inspired by economist E.F. Schumacher’s book Small Is Beautiful. Simplification is a recurring theme on the album, as the pedal steel and harmonica drenched “New Young” finds Rouse “making plans to move out to the country,” and “Crystal Falls” is propelled by uncomplicated rhythm from an unexpected source. “…I didn’t want the record to come off as overly serious, so it was important to me that songs like this have a sense of humor to them.” That sense of humor sustains Rouse as he faces down some of life’s biggest questions on this record with grace and humility. “Am I a hunter or a fox?” he sings on “Pheasant Feather”. The Embers Of Time suggests that Rouse has discovered he may never know the answer, and that’s just fine. “Largely acoustic-based, but lush nonetheless, the instrumentation and arrangements feel effortless…” —MAGNET “He’s found a way to encapsulate all the dichotomies of life and make them work within the confines of a three-minute pop song”—POPMATTERS “a talent to outrank Ryan Adams or Conor Oberst”—UNCUT HIGHLIGHTS: • First single, “Some Days I’m Golden All Night” to be promoted at AAA/Non-comm • National US Tour: May, June and beyond • Produced by Brad Jones (The Happiness Waltz, 1972, Nashville) • Special guest vocalist Jessie Baylin on “Pheasant Feather” • LP is pressed on 180 gram vinyl TRACK LISTING: Side A: Some Days I’m Golden All Night Too Many Things On My Mind New Young You Walked Through The Door Time Side B: Pheasant Feather (feat. Jessie Baylin) Coat For A Pillow JR Worried Blues Ex-Pat Blues Crystal Falls

CAVE IN CREATIVE ECLIPSES Looking through Cave In’s expansive career, between their two most towering achievements sits the Creative Eclipses EP where you can see everything change. It’s been 20 years since the Boston quartet sliced canyons through multiple scenes, starting as a corrosive hardcore band before releasing some of the most unorthodox and exhilarating songs in extreme music on Until Your Heart Stops. And before the aftershocks could die down, Cave In evolved more radically than anyone could have predicted. While members have forged divergent paths with Old Man Gloom, Mutoid Man, Clouds and Zozobra in the years since, Creative Eclipses was the first signal that a band already celebrated for their innovation could effortlessly push beyond anything they’d tried before. Before Jupiter could transform Cave In into rock saviors, there were these five tracks. Opener “Luminance” is an ascendent, shimmering hymn that bruises the troposphere. The cover of Failure’s “Magnified,” is taken over with such fervor it feels like something the band hatched themselves, and the acoustic “Burning Down the Billboards” is both a revolutionary and apocalyptic anthem. The two “Sonatas,” both ambient tracks, can wholly stand on their own as fascinating immersions into noise. Creative Eclipses is much more than a bridge between the two worlds Cave In has inhabited; it’s a captivating example of the sonic rewards that follow the band every time they’ve chosen to obliterate expectations. - Expanded 12” includes 3 bonus tracks - Cover design by J. Meditations in B. A simpler time. Like Pepperidge Farms, and Little House on the Prairie. Two beautiful young men (Aaron Turner and Santos Montano) set off on their own, in the peak of their sexual virility, to forge a new path in brutally sludgy, crushing, apocalyptic, post-metal, post-hardcore, pre-Y2K, post-math, pre-friendster, post-rock riffs. It was a magical time, before they added a few "session players." Still regarded by some (mostly the guys who played on it) as Old Man Gloom's finest hour. Fun fact: Meditations in B was written in one afternoon, then recorded AND mixed in 12 hours! While many things in this text are only kinda true, that is absolutely true. They also had the privilege of recording it in their home town of Santa Fe, New Mexico at Stepbridge Studios. Within months of this, they used this monumental piece of music to convince Nate Newton (Converge) to join, and once they had him, it was a little easier to convince Caleb Scofield (Cave In) to join. It's kinda like the beginning of Bill and Ted, where the talk about getting Eddie Van Halen to join, but won't be good until he joins, but can't get good ‘til he joins, to convince him to join. Get it? Fantastic. - Remastered audio - Revamped artwork - Letterpress printed jackets

TRACKLISTING

Broken Bone Ballads, the fourth LP from New Haven, Connecticut’s Ceschi Ramos, was written from the perspective of a man battling in court for over three years and anticipating a prison sentence while trying to maintain an indie record label and pay bills as a working musician out on bond. The album draws its title from a 2007 arm wrestling match with a Marine at a house party in Hawaii that left Ceschi with a spiral fracture of the humerus. Accentuated by Saskatoon producer Factor’s first foray into acoustic minimalism and a host of talented background players and vocalists, including a powerful guest verse from Sage Francis on “Barely Alive,” Ceschi’s narratives explore the plight of the modern working musician, the drop-in-the-ocean nature of pouring one’s life into art in a disposable digital age, and the eternal tug-of-war between despair and hope. With a sound largely eschewing the contemporary standards of drum machines and trap rap, Broken Bone Ballads relies on manipulated live instrumentation, analog synths, and samples as it moves seamlessly from breathless bars to acoustic punk-influenced folk. The 12-track album was inspired by community, mothers, girlfriends, fellow musicians, the writings of Xosé Tarrío González, Mayan artwork at the Yale Art Gallery, the loss of some of the most important people in Ceschi’s life, and a dehumanizing prison stint on dubious marijuana charges. With lyrics channeling Jeff Mangum (“Bite Through Stone”) and a delivery reminiscent of Freestyle Fellowship (“Forever 33”), Ceschi voices his frustration with a rigged system that ensures a life of groveling servitude for most and greedy excess for a few (“If a CEO can make billions / Then the world we know is filth ridden”) while holding out hope that through solidarity we can prevail (“All these tiny teeth together can bite through stone”). Ceschi meditates on the suffering he has experienced personally and witnessed on the road and in his community from junkies detoxing in jail cells, undocumented worker wage slaves, and corner boys running the 4AM New Haven streets. Broken Bone Ballads is simultaneously Ceschi’s most personal effort to date and a collection of stories and sketches that parallel the broader concepts of human suffering, failure, uncertainty, and perseverance.

GENRE : ROCK / PSYCHEDELIC FILE UNDER: “W” WHITE HILLS RELEASE DATE : April 7, 2015 White Hills are proponents of psychedelia as transformation. The music made by Dave W. and Ego Sensation is risky and cutting edge, rooted in dystopian futurism and hyperconscious of society’s constant desire for a new and better drug. That progressive aesthetic is at the heart of White Hills’ newest album Walks For Motorists, a radically stripped-down record that emphasizes rhythm and groove. The album bursts forth with a new kind of intensity, one born out of laser-focused precision and detail-oriented songwriting. Possibly surprising to fans familiar with the Hawkwindian guitar squall of earlier albums, the songs on Walks For Motorists began as a keyboard melody or bass line, and several songs on the album don’t even feature guitar at all. This is propulsive, open music, surreal to its core but made to inspire people to get out of their seats and move. Walks For Motorists was recorded with David Wrench (Caribou, Bear in Heaven, FKA Twigs, Owen Pallet) at Bryn Derwen Recording Studio in Bethesda, Wales which borders the Snowdonia National Forest. The band had 24-hour access to the studio, which allowed them to work whenever inspiration struck. Wrench’s expertise producing and mixing electronic music was an essential asset when perfecting the crisp tones heard throughout the record. This is the first album the band has recorded outside of New York City, and the vast, rolling Welsh landscape that surrounded the studio influenced the album’s uncluttered sound. Walks For Motorists is also White Hills’ most diverse album to date. Fuzzed-out rockers sit comfortably next to kraut-infused grooves, and there are more vocal contributions from Ego than ever before. White Hills has been developing an entirely new live set focusing on new music, and will be playing many major festivals in 2015, including Roadburn, Primavera, and ATP Iceland. As anyone who has seen the band knows, they can command stages both gargantuan and intimate, and are one of the most legendary live acts in psychedelic rock today. The band’s relentless touring of the US and Europe has gained them a massive grassroots following worldwide, and even more touring is planned throughout 2015.

GENRE : POP FILE UNDER: “C” Colleen RELEASE DATE : April 7, 2015 Colleen is French multi-instrumentalist Cecile Schott, who uses her voice and the treble viola da gamba (a baroque instrument with gut strings), to weave intricate stories about the human mind and heart. Captain of None is the most melodic album in her repertoire, with fast-paced tracks rooted down by prominent bass lines and assorted percussive effects. It is also an album that breaks new ground for Colleen in terms of production. While previous works centered around sample-based or looped, minimal compositions, on Captain of None Schott significantly changed her approach, setting her viola and her voice as focal points. Captain of None is inhabited by delicately crafted, other-worldly pop songs incorporating dub-inspired techniques. Captain of None was recorded, mixed, and produced entirely by Schott in her music studio in San Sebastian, Spain. Schott tried to open the gates in the way she played, sang, and wrote lyrics for the album, and set out to explore how effects like delay and echo could go from the “cosmetic sound varnish” role they usually play to a fully dynamic, constructive, song-shaping role. Although the influence of Jamaican music is subtle, its implicit impact is felt throughout Captain of None. As a child, Schott became enamored with a cassette tape of Lee Perry tracks from 1976 to 1979. She continued to explore the music of Jamaica, awed by the amount and the variety of incredible music that was recorded with such breathtaking inventiveness. This infatuation can be heard on tracks like “Eclipse,” where Schott utilizes some of the more common dub production techniques, such as using an echo effect on the percussion and vocals. Her love of Augustus Pablo can be felt on “Salina Stars,” in which Schott uses the melodica, an instrument that she played for years but never used on her albums. She incorporates a Moogerfooger delay pedal to create vocal feedback and analog glitches, and used homemade devices — chopsticks, an Indonesian metal printing block — as percussion. As for her unique main instrument of choice, Schott first noticed the viola da gamba in the film Tous les matins du monde when she was 15 years old. The instrument, which has been said to be the musical instrument that most resembles the sound of the human voice, heavily resonated with her. However, rather than bowing the instrument in a traditional manner, and heavily influenced by African music from different countries, genres, and eras, Schott tunes the viola da gamba like a guitar and plucks it, opening up a new world of sound that she explores in great depth on Captain of None, an addictive, unconventional pop album.

Creature Automatic

Dust Clouds May Exist

Turn on Dust Clouds May Exist, the debut album by Creature Automatic, and hear something familiar and something completely new. This is pop music that makes pop music strange again. Creature Automatic, the recording project of Brooklyn composer, improviser, and producer Robbie Lee, weaves together unlikely influences into an adventurous set of fourteen surprising songs. At its core, Dust Clouds May Exist is classic songwriting: flawlessly crafted, featuring catchy hooks and memorable riffs, exuberant and melancholy. But it’s also an experimental opus, with Lee playing some of the fabulously unusual instruments he’s become known for: mellotrons, crumhorns, and portatif organ alongside the usual guitars, drums, and piano. While the lead-off cut – “Say It’s Right Now” – could be a long-lost Pete Townshend demo from an album that never was, the record soon heads into a darker, mysterious place. The brooding piano of “Rain Steam and Speed” and the haunted atmosphere summoned by the imaginary travelogue, “Antikythera” are complemented by tracks such as “Fludd’s Folly,” a longform ambitious instrumental combining bell-like guitars with the buzzy, otherworldly Renaissance crumhorn. Like the true pop songs on the album, it follows a rambling shambolic path, always anchored in backwards sweet harmony. Robbie Lee is also a well-known improviser and experimental musician who has closely collaborated with Mary Halvorson, Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Che Chen and Jozef Van Wissem. After releasing his first album of lo-fi bedroom songs (Sleep, Memory) under his own name in 2006, Lee put his songwriting on hold during several years on the road backing rock luminaries such as Neil Michael Hagerty (Royal Trux), Love As Laughter, and Dax Riggs. He has also recorded and performed with Cass McCombs, Eleanor Friedberger, Baby Dee, and Seaven Teares, among many others.

Creature Automatic – A quirky grand vision of what pop music could be, in the tradition of Pet Sounds and Tusk, but very much of our time, and tomorrow’s. For fans of Brian Eno’s early songs, Robert Wyatt, Richard Youngs, and raucous experimentation.

Gay Dog Food is the fourth musical release from artist Mykki Blanco and the first in a campaign of releases leading up Blanco's debut album in 2015. Recorded in far eastern Russia, London, Berlin and New York City with production credits from Gobby, Sasha DZA, Low Concept, Naked & Supreme Cuts, Gay Dog Food is a record that perfectly encapsulates the past, present and future of Mykki Blanco in its genre splicing and choice of production collaborators. Mykki Blanco's roots in industrial noise music are ever present on Gay Dog Food. "A Moment With Kathleen" featuring Riot Grrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna of Le Tigre and The Julie Ruin, voice looped and sampled into a spoken word collage, could not be a better example of Blanco's many faces melding into one. Mykki has cited Hanna as a major formative influence musically, the pair join forces for the first time on a track that is experimental and fun without pretension. An artist should keep pushing, keep reinventing, keep striving for better music; "Gay Dog Food" is the new Mykki Blanco, it's music, its experimentation it's sound art, "you can choose to call me a gay rapper, you can choose to not even call me a rapper if you want to, it doesn't matter, i'm a punk, a creative punk and i'm going to continue to create and entertain without boundaries. Gay Dog Food is just the start of where I hope to go creatively and commercially, this moment now is really the beginning."

Overview

WRP9378

“what the hell is this stuff? How can it sound so familiar to the club music I know, and yet so alien? Is there more like it out there, or is this the work of a lone, weirdo genius? It might be both—and given the speed with which styles like kuduro spread, you won't have to wait long to find out.” – Resident Advisor (on DJ Marfox) For those unaware, Lisbon is having a moment. The youth of the city’s neglected outer districts are speaking out and doing so through brash, innovative dance music and all-night warehouse parties. Taking polyrhythmic inspiration from the African diaspora and welding it intuitively to mutant contemporary club music artists like DJ Marfox and DJ Nigga Fox (‘Fox’ being a widely-used nod to the titular character of the iconic Star Fox video game) have arrived at startlingly new sound.

Format: 12” Vinyl Boxlot: 25 Price: $13.99 Packaging:12" in spined sleeve and printed inner w/ download code

A conversation between Warp and the Principe crew in early 2014 resulted in a plan to bring the scene to a worldwide audience and the concept of the CARGAA compilations was born. Inspired by the sheer amount of incredible young artists in and around Lisbon and the attitude of classic, genredefining grime compilations like Run The Road, this is an overview of a genre in its immediate, evolving form - a series of three 12" compilations that dig as deeply as possible into the different sounds that are emerging.

Kerrier District - 4 Hypercolour

For more information please contact Adam Calman adam@k7.com (P) 718-‐722-‐9935 x 12 Cornish acid dance pioneer, Luke Vibert, dusts off the old gladrags and revives his cherished Kerrier District moniker for a new album this year on Hypercolour. Having already released an album last year (the audacious 303 tweakathon ‘Ridmik’, released under the Luke Vibert name), Vibert returns to the label with a 14 track album as Kerrier District. “4” will be the first Kerrier album since 2004’s self titled long player for the legendary Rephlex label. Two singles also emerged from this project in 2006 and 2011, so it’s a huge scoop for the British imprint and a welcome return for Vibert’s disco and funk led project. Digging into a huge pot of influence, and ably assisted with a trusty MPC, “4” is not surprisingly made up of a glorious collage of samples, old skool drum loops and large doses of acid funk and deep electronic disco, inspired in parts by the landmark “Black Devil Disco Club” EP from 1978 that has since gone on to influence the music of many like minded producers (step forward Metro Area/Daniel Wang et al). A scan through the track titles (“Treacle Tits”? “Discuntek”?) reveal an album filled with humour and mischievous intent, most definitely a trait of many of Vibert’s past releases, but the music really is some serious business. From the album opener, “Discogram”, with its easy (listening) vibes and low slung groove, right the way through to the closing “Come On Kerrier” with its frenzied synth work, deadly bass and incessant vocal stabs, the album is a Technicolor romp through feel good modern funk music as only Kerrier knows how. Drawing upon a wealth of incredible source material, playful beat programming and lush bass, “4” is an album that will quite possibly soundtrack the Summer of 2015 for many, many people.

Uncommon Nasa UN-D42LP UNCOMMON NASA: NEW YORK TELEPHONE RELEASE DATE: APRIL 7, 2015 LP FORMAT ONLY

As an emcee, Nasa is inspired by the words of the famed screenwriter and playwright Rod Serling. In response to a question about how he'd like to be remembered 100 years from now, Serling simply said “as a "writer." Nasa’s music is a story of self—often focusing on defining moments in his life and current events that strike a chord. Nasa has a love for New York like a child loves its mother. Raised on Staten Island, Nasa reps NYC with a ferocious pride. When New York's indie hip-hop boom hit in the 90s, Nasa was there as a devoted attendee of events, listener of late night radio and buyer of vinyl … then, he became involved. And as the scene has evolved and the city has changed, Nasa has been dedicated to it every step of the way. His newest album, New York Telephone, reflects his love for his home, the way it has nurtured the indie hip hop art form, and how it continues to be most the most influential city in the world. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ After releasing his excellent solo album, The Land Of The Way It Is, last August, touring, producing and releasing Duke01’s Steroid Stereo, he’s back with another solo album. New York Telephone is a special album, in that it’s a deep reflection on New York, where Uncommon Nasa was born and raised and has built his career. What’s New York to an artist like Uncommon Nasa? Well, it’s a land of harsh contradictions. It’s a place that he clearly loves and calls home, but it’s also a city that can chew a person up and spit them out and no one will notice. It is home to some of the greatest cultural achievements in the world, but it’s also a city that neglects one neighborhood while building another up. It’s a city that gave birth to hip hop, but these days, can have the toughest crowds to move in the country. It should come as no surprise that the album opens with a track titled, “Harsh New Yorker,” a dissonant and disjointed introduction to the album, as a distorted vocal track tries to tear down your dreams and convince you to give up. However, this is immediately followed up by a track called, “DestiNY,” a meditative track built from an acoustic guitar loop and a snare shuffle, while Nasa reflects on how he’s achieved everything in his life by building on what he’s learned from making his way in New York... New York Telephone is a complex album from an artist who put a lot of himself into his music. It has a lot of layers to peel away, and it certainly stands up to repeat listens. This is an album that Uncommon Nasa has been building toward for quite some time. I’m glad it’s here. - Scratchedvinyl.com (www.scratchedvinyl.com/?q=node/1650) Received a strong 8 of 10 review from Anthony Fantano’s TheNeedleDrop.com (theneedledrop.com/2014/08/uncommon-nasa-new-york-telephone/) __________________________________________________________________________________________ The re-release of New York Telephone on LP has full color LP jacket with stunning NY Telephone blue vinyl and comes bundled with exclusive content downloads for in store vinyl buyers which include the album version, instrumentals & accapellas of the entire album, and a 7 song EP of official remixes of New York Telephone from top tier hip-hop artists such as Rob Sonic (Hail Mary Mallon), Willie Green, Zilla Rocca (Mello Music Group) and more! S U NAT I R E N E — TREPANNING (April 7, 2015) Sunatirene is the evolving alter-ego of Baltimore-based musician and performance artist Sydney Spann.

Trepanning reflects stage one in her growth process. In this stage, she is a hybrid breed of witch. She's from the sea, but also from southern swamps, from oceanic

mangroves, from Scotch moors and marshlands, tropical tundra, from the brine lakes and subterranean rivers' banks. Trepanning is an aural interpretation of those

colliding visual environments and paradoxical imaginary

biomes. Collaging found samples with field recordings,

adopted folk songs set to rewritten melodies, and stream-of-consciousness turned into lyrical passages to navigate through shifting soundscapes are all forms of research. Texture is vital. She wields the ukelin, testing its range of

fragility and harshness. A sonic backdrop sets a scene for Sunatirene, and music becomes a way for her to speak.

INFORMATION:

Planet Mu are honoured to be invited to look back through RP Boo’s archives and present the cornerstones of his style, which would emerge from Ghetto House in the late nineties and develop into the genre of Chicago Footwork. These six minimal, repetitious rhythm tracks weren't officially released at the time, with the exception of the original version of ’11-47-99’ (The Godzilla Track) which came out under DJ Slugo's name in 2001, but was actually written and produced by RP Boo. Others were white labels for Dance Mania, never fully released, but which are remembered locally as key tracks in the cementing of the genre at the end of the nineties.

12”

’Baby Come On’, often cited as the first ever Footwork track, was recorded back in 1997 – says RP Boo "I got the idea from a Radio DJ who was going nuts over the phrase, and I got busy on the R-70, which I had just started to use, to create the track – it got played out at the clubs and the DJ’s and dancers loved it!" The sample has since become a Footwork staple and almost every producer has made their own version of it.

A:

’Party Motion’, built around vocal samples looped into angular patterns and offbeats over a sharp drum machine, was first played at a gym room party in 1998 and got its name from another footwork original – Traxman.

Baby Come On Party Motion 02-52-03

‘02-52-03’ is a remix of the classic ‘11-47-99’ (The Godzilla Track). It is so named because February = 02, 52 = The 52 Hundred Street RP lived on at the time and 03 is the date the remix was made, February 3rd 2003.

B: Night & Day Try 2 Break Try 2 Break Remix

‘Night & Day‘, made in 1999, further develops the footwork template with relentless toms and demented pitch shifted vocals. It is the most notable of RP’s many songs that sample Larry Levan favourite, Class Action’s ‘Weekend‘. Since then, snippets of that song have sneaked into many of RP’s production as something of a camouflaged signature. ‘Try To Break (Original)‘. From 1997, this is another track that made use of a chipmunked sample from ‘Weekend’ combined with harmonies and looped into a rushing phrase. Originally this was broken in Club Cavallini's, Chicago where it was a very popular club track. ‘Try To Break (Remix)‘. This is a 1998 remix that was put on the legendary Chicago mixtape that RP Boo and DJ Rashad made called ‘No-EditsAllowed‘ in 1999.

Shilpa Ray Make Up

features covers of Lou Reed and Dinah Washington The former backup singer for Nick Cave steps out from his shadow to release the Make Up EP, a pair of imaginatively adapted covers. On Lou Reed’s quirky “Makeup,” described by Rolling Stone as an “image of the…sissy traipsing around and lisping about effeminacy,” Shilpa Ray filters the story through the antithetical lenses of explosive noise and charming cabaret. Next, Dinah Washington’s legendary “What A Diff’rence A Day Makes” is given a seventies soft-rock makeover, and you find yourself completely bewitched by Shilpa’s captivating vocals and dreamy wurlitzer piano. Only a brief taste of what’s in store on her brilliant upcoming LP, Last Year’s Savage (May 19th on Northern Spy), these songs are sure to whet the appetites of long time fans and new ones alike. In Shilpa Ray’s words: I had an epiphany about “Make Up” (written by Lou Reed) when I was in Palermo around Christmas time after the Bad Seeds tour. Lou had died late October. I found out 10 minutes before I had to play solo before a sold out crowd at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. Needless to say, his passing had a massive effect on me. He was my childhood hero. Europe was hard to grasp for me in a lot of ways. The culture, language barriers, the overload of dairy and ghettos of freshly placed refugees from countries, some I had never heard of before. I was exhausted and getting drunk outside a bar where you can get Marsala for a Euro, basically all I could afford. There were tons of kids dancing in the streets getting high and happy, when this stray yellow lab walked up to me and starts swaying back and forth. The song Make Up came blaring through the stereo and I started swaying with the dog. It was one of those rare moments I felt alright. We had decided to go to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame during a tour stop in Cleveland. I was pretty cynical about the whole thing and tour hadn’t been smooth. I had to send a dude home for being a brat in Kansas City among other places and was feeling pretty exposed as the bad guy. It was a stressful situation and trying to justify my actions in the passive aggressive world of music where no one’s making any money felt daunting. I seperated myself from the group, the costumes, the Katy Perry and the Beyonce and hung out in the listening booth for hours. Dinah Washington came on and put every wannabe singer, myself included, to shame. What a voice! She draws her breath so long and never loses the listener. I had to challenge myself with this one. I hope I can sing like her someday. “Make Up” and “What A Diff’rence A Day Makes” performed by: Shilpa Ray – vocals and keys Jon “Catfish” Delorme – Pedal Steel Alistair Paxton – Bass Russ Lemkin – Drums Recorded in January 2015 by Jason LaFarge at Seizures Palace

LAST SATURDAY NIGHT This vinyl-only limited edition (2000) record from Jon Spencer’s alter-ego, Heavy Trash, is an album of previously unreleased wig-outs, instrumentals, out takes, and other unhinged gems recorded throughout the bands lifetime. Jon Spencer and Matt Verta-Ray, the men known as Heavy Trash, never thought that anyone could be watching or listening, let alone recording, when they perpetrated these middle-of-the-night flip-outs, improvisations, instrumentals, and dangerous experiments in unchecked soul exposition and naked desire. Had they known the tape was rolling, we would never have this demented document of darkness and decay. But their demons have come to light, and you are now invited to dance through the dusky shadows of a musical group on the edge. This is pure Heavy Trash. This is Noir!

Originally released on Studio !K7 Records in 1998, Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister's groundbreaking release, 'The K&D Sessions' reset the bar for what could be achieved in a compilation. Across an array of original tracks, dubs and infamous ‘K&D Session’ remixes, the DJ and producer duo took the listener on a smoke-filled blunted journey that flowed flawlessly.

music the world has ever heard", the album has sold over 1,000,000 copies to date and was included in Spin’s ‘Top 20 albums of 1999’. The album has long since been deleted on Vinyl with original 4LP sets changing hands for €300+ on the collectors market and even a bootleg vinyl copy will set a buyer back over €100. Sixteen years later, this legendary album will be available as a long overdue 5LP reissue remastered by Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood.

Often compared to DJ Shadow's 'Endtroducing' for it's similarly deft craft of rhythm and quoted by Allmusic as "the most blissfully blunted THE K&D SESSIONSTM

Hanoi Rocks Two Steps From The Move JEWEL 2CD

$21.99

CANDY233 5055300382450

20 page full colour booklet – 4,000 word essay, enhanced artwork, rare photos and new interview with Mike Monroe When Hanoi Rocks moved from Finland to London in the early eighties the streets were on fire with possibilities. Looking like an explosion in a paint factory and sounding like a devilish mash-up of the Rolling Stones jamming with the Sweet, it’s fair to say that they made a unique impression. Signed to CBS records and teamed up with renowned producer Bob Ezrin ‘Two Steps From The Move’ was cut in NYC, polished in Toronto and completed in London. It was hailed as a masterpiece, bringing together all the hopes and promises of a band perfectly poised to assume complete control of the scene. Loaded with an incredible selection of songs, ‘Two Steps From The Move’ found them focussing on as much mayhem as humanly possible with a penchant for cheeky lyrics and catchy melodies. Tracks such as ‘Don’t You Ever Leave Me’, ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’, ‘Up Around The Bend’ and ‘Boiler (Me Boiler ‘N’ Me)’ defined their unique brand of swashbuckling bravado perfectly. Disc One: Up Around The Bend; High School; I Can’t Get It; Underwater World; Don’t You Ever Leave Me; Million Miles Away; Boulevard Of Broken Dreams; Boiler (Me Boiler ‘N’ Me); Futurama; Cutting Corners; Two Steps From The Move (Bonus) Disc Two (Bonus Tracks): Don’t You Ever Leave Me (12” Version); Back To Mystery City (Single B-Side); Until I Get You (Single B-Side); Mental Beat (Single B-Side); Oil & Gasoline (Japan Single B-Side); Magic Carpet Ride (Japan Single B-Side); Shakes (Japan Single B-Side) - BBC Friday Rock Show Session: I Can’t Get It; Underwater World; Don’t You Ever Leave Me; Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

Riverdogs Riverdogs JEWEL 2CD $21.99

Features Vivian Campbell of Def Leppard / 12 page full colour booklet – 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork and new interviews. DESPITE COMING and going in the blink of an eye, the Riverdogs have always been held in high esteem. Sure, lots of underachieving acts are bestowed with acclaim but if one group genuinely deserves reappraisal, the Riverdogs are about as deserving as you can possibly get. And the reason isn’t just because the band featured the presence of former Dio and Whitesnake (and future Def Leppard ) guitarist Vivian Campbell. Formed in Los Angeles at a time when hair-metal was king, they were determined to avoid clichés, adopting a bluesy, almost Americana, style where restraint was central and excess frowned upon. Naturally Vivian Campbell played an influential part in fashioning the musical palate but both bassist Nick Brophy and vocalist Rob Lamothe also attracted immediate attention.. Warm, commanding and instantly identifiable, Lamothe’s voice didn’t rely on bombast to get noticed. Produced by Michael Frondelli (Kiss, Rolling Stones) and polished by Jeff Glixman (Gary Moore, Georgia Satellites) their album was greeted with universal acclaim. One of the most overlooked records of all time. Whisper; Toy Soldier; Big House; Holy War; Baby Blue; I Believe; Water From The Moon; Rain, Rain; Spooky; America - Bonus Tracks: Live Radio Station Performances 1990: Whisper; Toy Soldier; Big House; Holy War; Baby Blue; I Believe; Water From The Moon; Spooky; America; Pennsylvania (Non Album Track)

Their fourth offering as a renewed and reworked band, expanding their black-metal/ punk hybrid with elements of psychedelia, hypnotic noise rock and a ghostly sense of melody. While Bodies is still has a huge part of of Haust's trademark raw rudimentary rage, it is also their most complex work to date, fusing nihilism and ambition to show that punk can be more than pure aggression. In addition to the drummer and cover artist Odden and keyboardist Egseth, Haust has been reinforced with sound guitar wonder Trond Mjøen (Haraball, Ulver) as well as guest appearances by Henning Wisth of Okkultokrati and Milton Von Krogh of Pirate Love. When it comes to the lyrics, all written by Haust's iconic singer Vebjørn, the themes are more personal this time around. Bodies is about breaking boundaries and destroying everything that stands in its way. It is also about sticking together and melting into a collective body. 1. Static Attack 2. Days 3. Body Melt 4. Dissonance is the long-awaited follow up to their 2010 debut, Like Iron I Rust. On that release, the world was introduced to Kollwitz’s terse and beautiful sonic vision. A balancing act of grandiose post-rock atmospherics with sludgy post-hardcore menace. Like Iron I Rust was praised by such outlets as Rock Sound and Terrorizer—the latter outlet proclaiming the band’s glacially paced sonic epics went “from peaceful moments dripping with anticipation to full-blown anguished roars delivered over rolling crescendos that devastate as much as they inspire.” However on Dissonance, an album which is entirely self-produced, the songs are shorter, sharper and perhaps more unsettling. A joint statement credited to the band doesn’t mince any words regarding the new music and its creation: “We have fought against this record for over four years. Insecurity, disagreement and inconsistent goals have led the process. Dissonance is dissonant music created in dissonant circumstances. We consciously went for a more aggressive, repetitive and focused sound that does not over-indulge. In the end Dissonance is a dirtier yet more powerful statement than our previous record.”

The 6 tracks present a brash and persuasive slice of Nordic punk, with a rare sense of rhythm and melody that recalls the Replacements, Jay Retard and Ty Segall. Limited edition 12" vinyl. Formed in the summer of 2013 by 20 year old frontman Mikkel Holm Silkjær (guitar, vocals) in the north of Aarhus - Denmark’s second largest city and what locals would say, the current punk rock capital - along with friends Frederik Nybo Veile (drums), Tobias Guldborg Tarp (bass) and Emil Zethsen (guitar), Yung have spent the past year building up a formidable live reputation in their native Denmark.
