Redeye Label of the Month Q&A Learn more about our partners in our Monthly Label Spotlight! This Issue: Nydia Ines Davila at Daptone Records
We know you can’t choose, but what’s been your favorite label release, and why? Too hard! I’ll give you a very short list instead. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings “Dap Dippin” - This was my first introduction to the label and SJDK’s debut and at the time the DapKings were more of a funk band. This is not their best album, but it’s my personal favorite. A lot of nostalgia wrapped up in it. The Womack Sisters (S/T) - The ballads featured on this album are top tier, some of the very best in our catalog. The Como Mamas “Move Upstairs” - I think this is truly one of the toughest albums in our catalog. How did you personally get started in the music industry? I was in my early 20s and knew I wanted to work with music in some capacity, but I knew making music wasn’t for me. I applied for an internship at Prommer Inc. , (owned by Michael Prommer prior to Defend Music) who offered distribution to small labels and artists via their deal at Caroline Distribution. I saw Daptone listed as one of their distributed labels and knew I needed to give it a try. I later met Gabe and Neal and the rest is history. I’ve been at Daptone since November 2005. Is the label tied to a specific geographical area? In the beginning, and for a long time after that, all of our artists were based in NYC. We had a homebase in Bushwick Brooklyn, with a studio, office, and storage space all under one roof and we called it the House of Soul. It was a time! Losing Sharon Jones really shifted things, to put it lightly. Gabe was no longer touring all the time and built a mini-studio where he’s based in Riverside, CA. As time went on, he expanded the studio and we welcomed southern California-based artists onto our roster. This includes Thee Sacred Souls, The Womack Sisters, The Altons, etc. What is the meaning behind the name for the label? I believe the name was inspired by James Brown & the Dapps. At the time we came up with the label name, we were trying to quickly self-release the debut Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings album - Dap Dippin - ahead of some shows they had booked in Europe and needed a label name and logo to put on the packaging. How has the label changed since it started? Sometimes it feels like everything is different now from when it started, our homebase, our artist roster…but also nothing has changed much, either. We’re still just out to make and release honest, soulful music, with real musicians and without gimmicks, staying true to the artist and the genre. Where do you go to search for new music? I keep an eye on what the broader Daptone family is up to, like That’s Love Records, Diamond West Records, and Big Crown etc. but I mostly find new-to-me music/records at record stores still. I collect Puerto Rican and Cuban records.
Thee Sacred Souls (S/T) - beautiful modern sweet soul that’s right up my alley. What’s the wildest marketing promotion you’ve ever worked on for any release? To celebrate our 100th 45 release in 2019, we invited all Daptone vocalists to sing on a song named “Hey Brother (Do Unto Others)” as The Family Daptone. We decided to make 100 copies of the 45 with clear vinyl, and feature a piece of the recording tape pressed into it with each fan’s name on it who purchased it. In order for fans to have a chance to buy it, they had to do a scavenger hunt of sorts in our store by figuring out answers to questions about our history. Once all 100 were purchased, we got in touch with everyone who bought one to confirm the name they wanted written on the tape, and then we had them pressed. We also made ~100 additional copies as gifts to the entire daptone family of artists, managers, and people involved in our success over the years, personalized with their names handwritten by Gabe on the tape. If you had the budget, what would be your dream “outsidethe-box” or “crossover” marketing campaign? This is not really a marketing campaign, but to be honest, if I had the budget - my dream would be to put together another Daptone Super Soul Revue tour similar to when we did it in 2014. This time with Lee Fields, The Altons, The Womack Sisters, Jalen Ngonda, Thee Sacred Souls, Napoleon Demps, Cochemea, and Los Yesterdays. How important are issues like mental health and social justice to you and the label? This is something we’ve never shied away from and there are many “protest songs” within our catalog - most notably Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ “This Land is Your Land” and Thee Sacred Souls “Give Us Justice.” We combined them all on a playlist titled “Stand Up: Songs to March to” ahead of the No Kings protest last year. Want to shout out a personal favorite record store or retail establishment? Now’s your chance: I’ll shout out Plaid Room Records - what they’re doing is stellar both with how they run their shop and how they’re able to support indie labels such as ours. They were vital in helping Gabe and Matt open our brick and mortar, Penrose Record Room, and are just overall really good people.

Having worked with the likes of Alex G, Tinashe, Mitski, and countless others over a 15-year span, Ryan Hemsworth has developed an uncanny ear for talent while simultaneously honing his craft as a shapeshifting producer comfortable in any genre setting. Although known for his prolific output and seemingly endless high-profile collaborations, Numbskull is Hemsworth’s first solo album since 2018’s Elsewhere, and his first for Topshelf Records. On Numbskull, Hemsworth squares a tangled mix of influences ranging from shoegaze to lo-fi to metal, all squeezed through the lens of his globe-trotting pop background. Hemsworth embraces these heavy, distorted influences on the blown-out lead single “One Step,” a blaring foundation for the boisterous vocal performance delivered by Sarah Tudzin of Illuminati Hotties. First issued in 2006, Rainbow marked the maiden voyage of notorious headbangers Boris and Michio Kurihara, famed lead guitarist of Ghost and White Heaven. Performed together with fantastic harmony, Rainbow is not just a perfect combination; it is a meeting place, with all players aligned in a singular cause — to make an album whose music elevates the listener. Twenty years later, we’re psyched as the dosed punch to do our very own vinyl edition, right on time for the album’s 20th anniversary vinyl. The jacket’s done up in classic Boris style — a Stoughton 12" Single Tip-on with special uncoated natural white paper, Holographic foil stamping, and custom front sticker, with lyrics reproduced on an insert of translucent vellum. For such a formidable combine of noise-making rock ‘n rollers, Rainbow’s negative spaces provide as much definition as their distorted guitars. Boris’ trio are all avid experimentalists. Kurihara’s guitar goes from whisper to scream effortlessly, applying a distinctive tattoo to the musical flesh of their collaboration. Make no mistake: Rainbow does not lack for speaker-shredding intensity. Opening with the power of “Rafflesia,” Rainbow paces itself with short pop songs providing interludes among extended expeditions. A glockenspiel glimmers in the distance, Takeshi and Wata trade vocals, muted beauty is rocked open with droning, tom-pounding jams. A prism of sound colors shifts gracefully, giving the album its proper name. Rainbow’s a heavy rock album with classic melodic aims captured at an apex of hi-fi stereo recording. Boris arrays their rock elegantly, with great care and vigor, and Kurihara’s carefully contoured guitar tones accompany them with great sensitivity, whether playing Mesozoan stomps, serrated riffs or floating meditations.

Boris with Michio Kurihara
Live at FEVER 20181229
Boris and Michio Kurihara collaborated for the first time from 2006-2008, releasing the albums Rainbow and Cloud Chamber. Ten years after (the years, not the band!) they got back together to play a show at FEVER in Tokyo. It was December 29th, 2018. They ran through almost all their Rainbow songs with three additional Boris pieces and two from Kurihara. And so many missed it! Maybe even you? Now, international fans can be glad they’ve lived this long, if only because now they can get the whole show in a fantastic sounding two-LP package. How fantastic? The jacket: exquisite paper with pearl foil embossment lettering, a gatefold with photos of the band and who knows, possibly the sky from the night of the show? The credits are inscribed on an inserted sheet of translucent vellum. REALLY fantastic!

With pristine live sound and effects from Soichiro Nakamura, longtime producer and former bandmate of Kurihara in Japan’s legendary psychedelic White Heaven, Live at FEVER 20181229 highlights selections from a heavy rock show focused on the Rainbow songs, with even more Boris material, Kurihara solo songs and covers. On that night eight years ago, Boris & Kurihara sound entirely ready to go all the places they need to go, employing easy power in a freewheeling yet practiced recital, visceral and granular as a matter of course. It’s simply what plugging in means to both artists, individually and collectively, to sound this awesome every time. This means the stage sound, recording, mix and pressing of Live at FEVER 20181229 are incredible! The band sounds massive AND pristine. Even without hearing much from the audience, you feel the sound of the room and the band charged by the presence of the audience. The feeling is alive. Boris’ unique power trio have established dominance over the decades, in full evidence here. Kurihara’s moody brilliance comes through in full spectrum on “Shine” and “The Wind’s Twelve Quarters,” but everywhere he can be heard and felt. He’s behind the boomeranging dynamic shifts on side 3, snapping the head from the surging “Starship Narrator” to long moments of near silence at the start of “My Rain,” an extended elegance followed by the funky psych of “Sweet No. 1.” These studied textures form a polar other to the rock. The chime and grime of Kurihara’s tone adds a magic spell to the sound. The album’s well titled. It easily could have been "Rainbow Live." Instead, a shuffling of the album order less one or two PLUS the addition of Boris and Kurihara songs make Live at FEVER 20181229 its own album experience. Just hearing the sound of a live experience distilled to the vinyl seems awesome and emotional. Imagine the raw wave!

Uncorking the well of wit, whimsy and cool, refined fury that’s fueled his path around this world, Mayo Thompson pours out a new round: a first ever album of solo guitar music, not to mention a first solo album in almost forever, Quiet Days in Cliché. With The Red Krayola, Mayo made three albums of pop music in the late 1960s, taking the idea of rock ‘n roll songs farther into the hoped-for realms of possibility than 98% of their psychedelic brethren before or since. Following the demise of the band, Mayo produced his first solo album, Corky’s Debt to His Father in 1970. It found the underground godfather-to-be looking backwards at his roots, with a great bunch of songs caravaning across the resident milieus, musical and otherwise, of his youth. Barely distributed in its day, Corky’s Debt to His Father has become a classic. Mayo continues to ply available trade routes, wherever they did and do currently run, to sail on. Fifty-six years later, Quiet Days In Cliché is Mayo’s second solo album. The music is improvised and probably can’t be repeated as played. These pieces are ‘notes to self’, but we heard them and we liked them — so here they are.

Flat Duo Jets · Boogie On Your Head! DECEMBER 4, 2026
Flat Duo Jets Boogie On Your Head Led by the late Dexter Romweber, the Flat Duo Jets are a force of reckless abandon. These 13 tracks were recorded in November of 1988 during sessions for their iconic self-titled debut album (1990). Boogie On Your Head! captures the Flat Duo Jets at their peak, being loose, wild, and unstoppable. These aren’t outtakes but alternate realities of that debut album: equally vital, equally ferocious, and left unreleased only because there was simply too much fire to fit on one LP.

“Veronica Falls”
Territory: North America TL; DR: 15th anniversary of this legendary debut includes a bonus LP of highly sought-after covers and rare 7” b-sides. RIYL: The Velvet Underground, Beat Happening, Galaxie 500, Felt, The Chills, Alvvays, Dum Dum Girls
15th anniversary double LP reissue!
LP EAN: 5061102610479 Box Lot: 20
First released in 2011, Veronica Falls introduced a band with a deceptively simple proposition: take the sweetness, immediacy and melodic rush of classic pop and indie pop, then let something darker seep through the cracks. Across twelve songs, the London quartet of Roxanne Clifford, James Hoare, Marion Herbain and Patrick Doyle fused chiming guitars, ragged rhythms and beautifully intertwined vocals with songs about ghosts, doomed romance, death and dread. The result was an album that could sound euphoric and unsettling in the same breath, repeatedly finding light and darkness occupying the same space. It is music that invites you in with its melodies before revealing its shadows. The album remains a concise document of a band at a particularly distinctive moment: steeped in the lineage of The Velvet Underground, Beat Happening, Galaxie 500, Felt and 1960s pop, but with its own wonderfully skewed take on their influences. Veronica Falls would go on to release a second album, Waiting for Something to Happen, in 2013, before the members pursued separate musical paths and Patrick sadly passed in 2018. Now, fifteen years on, Veronica Falls returns as a reminder of just how potent that original formula was: beautiful, bruised, and instantly memorable. The anniversary reissue includes a bonus disc gathering nine recordings from the same period. Side C brings together five cover versions: the Rolling Stones’ “Under My Thumb”, Slumber Party’s “Sooner Or Later”, The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band’s “Eighteen Is Over the Hill”, Eurythmics’ “Thorn in My Side” and The Verlaines’ “Joed Out”. Side D collects four B-sides from the band’s early singles, rounding out a collection that reflects both the breadth of their influences and the distinctive sensibility that ran through their work.
Damon Locks + D-Composed Dawning Dawning is a collaboration between Chicago creative music mainstay Damon Locks and Black chamber music collective D-Composed. The material was recorded live at The Land School, Rebuild Foundation’s headquarters on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, where DComposed & International Anthem are the inaugural creative partners in residence. The album’s sonic palette pairs Locks’ live sampling, beat knowledge, and spoken word swagger with D-Composed’s take on the Black string ensemble with otherworldly results.

During the 60s and 70s, American soul and funk crossed the Atlantic Ocean, landed on South Africa’s fertile shores, and found a new life in the hands of local musicians who began experimenting, fusing these alien sounds with their own traditional rhythms and jazz, forging a uniquely South African style they dubbed „Township Soul“ - an umbrella term for a myriad of musical styles, some of which had no names yet. Competition in Johannesburg was fierce, and for many artists with little more than their instruments and dreams of fame, breaking into the city’s music scene was a gamble. Facing police harassment, apartheid pass and curfew laws, they risked everything; yet, driven by ambition, they kept going, unable to resist the pull of music. Centered around record labels, recording studios, and performance venues and inspired by visionary music producers, Johannesburg - also known as eGoli, the City of Gold - became a melting pot of musical ideas as musicians competed, collaborated, and pushed each other forward to create an extraordinary music scene, captured in Soundcity Joburg and highlighted with 22 of the finest „Township Soul“ songs that emerged between 1969 and 1981.

ANNA DOMINO
EAST AND WEST + SINGLES OVERVIEW Domino is delighted to be reissuing Anna Domino’s seminal and influential debut EP East And West on the 4th December. East And West was originally released as a 5-track EP in 1984 while Anna was living in downtown New York, sharing the neighbourhood with the likes of Brian Eno, Talking Heads and Laurie Anderson, roaring with creative purpose as the city decayed around her. Described by Pitchfork as “The Velvet Underground & Nico of avant-pop”, it was the undeniable result of the era’s fruitful no-wave and post-punk scenes and a stone-cold classic pop record, with a vocalist who floats above it all like the elusive host of a glamorous party. In the years since East and West, Anna Domino has achieved a cult status - becoming synonymous with the minimal pop/cold wave genres and a key touchstone of 80s avant-pop. She has been referenced by contemporary artists such as Clairo, James K, HTRK, Carla Del Forno, Astrid Sonne, Horsegirl, Smerz and many others. TRACKLISTING 1. With The Day Comes The Dawn 2. The new reissue pairs the original tracks with key singles from the period alongside seven unreleased demos, newly digitized from Anna’s original four-track tapes, and liner notes by Shaad D’Souza, alongside curated newspaper clippings and photographs from Anna’s personal collection. These archival recordings feature six early iterations of East And West tracks and one completely unreleased song, “Happy To Go,” Much has been made of Anna’s idiosyncratic, minimalistic and avant-garde approach to pop songwriting and it is remarkable how much of that is already present in these early recordings. A unique document of her creative process.

"¿Para que?," a gorgeously floaty, 6/8 ballad whose sparse instrumentation and
thoughtful arrangement leaves ample space for Trish to deliver a vocal performance that exudes the kind of earnest vulnerability that sends daggers into the hearts of the listener. On the flipside is "Todo puede cambiar," a lovely, mid-tempo dancer that is every bit as soulful as the A-side but delivered with a whimsical, feel-good swing to the phrasing reminiscent of early Barbara Lewis.

SikTH Death of a Dead Day MMXXVI Released 12.4.2026 Twenty years after its original release, SikTh celebrate their landmark second album with Death of a Dead Day MMXXVI – a newly remixed edition of one of the most influential British metal records of the 21st century. Originally released in 2006, Death of a Dead Day captured SikTh at their most inventive and technically fearless, combining intricate rhythms, interlocking guitars, elastic bass lines and unmistakable dual vocals with a collision of brutality, melody and experimentation. Featuring tracks including “Bland Street Bloom,” “Flogging the Horses,” “Sanguine Seas of Bigotry” and “Part of the Friction,” its influence can be heard across a generation of progressive metal bands. For it's 20th anniversary, the album has been completely remixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood of Periphery, bringing new clarity, weight and detail to this seminal record. Having long cited Death of a Dead Day and bassist James Leach’s playing as formative influences on himself and Periphery, Nolly’s involvement brings the story full circle. Death of a Dead Day MMXXVI celebrates SikTh’s enduring legacy while offering a fresh perspective on an album that helped shape the sound of modern progressive metal.

SOAK decembers
Friday December 4th, 2026
SOAK’s fourth album, decembers, is a deeply personal record about escape, connection, and finding your way home. Written during a period when an autoimmune disease temporarily took away their ability to sing, the album emerged from silence, turning poems and fragments into SOAK’s most tender and fully realized work to date. Moving between Derry, Dublin, New York and beyond, decembers explores friendship, family, growing up, getting lost, and ultimately learning to stand still. It’s an album about release, honesty, and the freedom

Firewater
"Scorched tales of Manifest Destiny from the best to do it…Montana Bar Rock of the highest order!" - Stephen Malkmus The question asked most frequently of us is: “When will you reissue Firewater?” The answer is December 4th, 2026. Firewater, the Matador Records debut for SKWM, released thirty years ago after the band condensed to a trio, is back in print on 2xLP with a bonus CD included containing nearly 20 minutes of additional material. Some of which has never been heard previously. Like an alternate take of Don’t Make Plans This Friday with the original lyrics, for example. Both records are housed in full-color Stoughton sleeves inside the record’s gorgeous jacket, highlighting the paintings of Hiroshi Kimura. Firewater was recorded by Steve Albini at KUFM in Montana, his home and Chicago Recording Company. It was remastered with Matthew Barnhart at Chicago Mastering Service. The vinyl was manufactured at Paramount Pressing, with this first edition limited to 1,500 copies. ————————————————————————————————————— Firewater is the most ambitious record in the Silkworm catalogue. It's an hour of music in one gulp, running from the sour to the smooth, blasting to gentle. Joel RL Phelps (oh it's marvelous to play with him again!) had escaped the insane touring schedule the rest of SKWM wanted to maintain. With three of us remaining, the possibilities expanded even as our number contracted. We could get quieter at a drop. Andy Cohen and I had more room to noodle around. Michael Dahlquist could step to the forefront with regularity. We started leaving out stringed instruments for entire sections of songs just so we could listen to him do his thing. I didn't expect to love Ticket Tulane or Miracle Mile, but I do. Nerves still clearly the single, no matter what else happened on that front. Don't Make Plans This Friday is the apotheosis of that entire period of the band - determined, weird, stubbornly immovable, oozing through time as it essays a life that none of us had lived at that point in a somehow incredibly relevant way. If I heard a bunch of young people do this today, I'd be psyched. If you've never run across it before, you'll enjoy Firewater. Half as much as I do would be pretty good. If you got one of the CDs that was mistakenly loaded with the Bardo Pond record that came out around the same time…well, you probably enjoyed what you thought it was back then. And you're in for a surprise. Tim Midyett Chicago, Illinois 12/04/2026 Comedy Minus One LP-CMO-053

THE RECORD
Booka Shade’s second album Movements was released in May 2006 on Get Physical Music, the label the duo co-founded. Twenty years on, it returns as a 2LP with a new sleeve design by HORT, the studio behind the original artwork, and new liner notes from Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger. In those notes they describe wanting music with a hymnic quality that could take over an entire room: deep, dark club elements mixed with almost pop-like melodies and hooks, built from small, simple, organic analogue sounds with a lean, crisp and direct mix.

The Lafayette Afro-Rock Band Darkest Light Strut presents two classic tracks from the inimitable Lafayette Afro-Rock Band, finally available together on 7” vinyl: the endlessly sampled Darkest Light, backed with the quintessential Hihache. The opening bars of Darkest Light are instantly recognisable to funk and hip-hop heads. Originally released on the Lafayette Afro-Rock Band’s Malik album, the track went on to become a defining hiphop motif, sampled by Jay-Z, Public Enemy, Wreckx-N-Effect and many more. On the flip, Hihache emerged as a firm favourite as hip-hop culture exploded in the 1980s. Taken from the group’s iconic Soul Makossa album, its larger-than-life drum break became a foundational sample, most famously appearing in Biz Markie’s Nobody Beats The Biz, among countless others. Two essential cuts from a hugely influential group, now pressed in a strictly limited run of just 500 copies on black 7” vinyl.

Momoko Gill BBC Maida Vale Session In continuation of the critically acclaimed album Momoko from Momoko Gill, Strut proudly presents 2close2farr backed with Ineffably recorded live at the iconic BBC Maida Vale Studios recorded in February 2026 in session for Gilles Peterson. Momoko has long been one of the UK electronic and jazz scene’s best-kept secrets. A self-taught drummer, producer, songwriter, and vocalist, she has brought her unique touch to collaborations with Alabaster DePlume, Matthew Herbert, Coby Sey, Tirzah, and Nadeem Din-Gabisi. Extensive touring behind the drum kit, at the keys and in front of the mic have honed her compositional and production instincts. Recorded with bandmates Tamar Osbourn (baritone saxophone, flute), Mei Kirby (piano), Ezekiel Ajie (bass), Miryam Solomon and Inês Loubet (backing vocals, percussion), these two striking tracks from the album sit side-by-side showcasing the strength of Gill’s composition and musical dexterity live. Remarked as “One the best Maida Vale sessions we’ve recorded” by BBC 6Music’s Gilles Peterson, we couldn’t agree more that these tracks deserved a release of their own. One of the most talked-about unreleased IDs of the summer festival and clubbing season, ‘Beauty In Us’ is a soaring collaboration that blends Robbie’s vocals with Miss Monique’s immersive synths and progressive house production to euphoric, hypnotic effect. The collaboration has already built huge anticipation across the global electronic community, with Miss Monique giving the track its world premiere as the closing record of her Tomorrowland 2026 Main Stage set, before delivering a second standout performance during Carl Cox's weekly residency at Ibiza's [UNVRS], where Robbie Williams made a surprise appearance to perform the track on stage for the duo's first-ever live performance together, watch it here. The moment became one of the defining highlights of the Ibiza season, generating widespread buzz across socials, cementing its status as one of the year's most anticipated crossover dance releases. Speaking about the collaboration, Robbie Williams and Miss Monique said: "Our very special musical collaboration inspired by our different but equally defining experiences of electronic music and clubbing in Stoke-on-Trent and Kyiv... from the 90s to the 2010s. It feels right for now. It was a dream to perform it in Ibiza for the first time!" One of the world's most celebrated music artists, Robbie Williams continues an extraordinary run following the release of his UK No.1 album ‘BRITPOP’, while Miss Monique has firmly established herself as one of melodic techno's defining global stars through headline performances at Tomorrowland, Coachella, Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas and her Hi Ibiza residency, alongside a rapidly growing catalogue of acclaimed productions and remixes. With ‘Beauty In Us’, two artists from different musical worlds come together to create an emotional, peak-time anthem that bridges generations of dance music culture, from the euphoric club scenes of the 90s and 2010s to today's global progressive/melodic movement.

File Under Dance, Club, Electronic, House, Techno For Fans Of Daphni, Overmono, Daniel Avery, Bonobo, Four Tet Jacques Greene’s third studio album - jg - is his most immediate and sharpest expression to date. His first self-confessed ‘club album’, jg spans eleven razor sharp dancefloor tracks, mixed by Pearson Sound and mastered by Joker, featuring an ‘arsenal of supremely talented, kind, generous people’ such as CFCF, umru, DJ BORING and Ouri. Much of the album was made during a time of personal upheaval in a world resurfacing from lockdown, which brought into acute focus the importance of intentionality, presence and joy - Greene found himself returning to the people and places that gave him a sense of purpose, resulting in an album that reaches toward hopefulness and immediacy. The album also comes fifteen years after Jacques Greene’s breakout track “Another Girl”, and jg sees the Montreal producer dig even further into the sound that has made him one of the most influential electronic producers of his generation. “After stripping away a ton of filters and reverbs, a more direct, sometimes intense, collection of work emerged”, says Greene. “It’s me, it’s jg.” jg is out via LUCKYME® on 16 October.

Fu Manchu – California Crossing 25th Anniversary Edition At The Dojo
EL CAMINO / SAND SPLATTER LP
ATD032CR
2026-12-04
840526511778
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their 7th album from 23 October, 2001 (their last with Brant Bjork), Fu Manchu is releasing California Crossing 25th Anniversary Edition. Recorded at the legendary Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, California by the band and Matt Hyde (DEFTONES, SLAYER, MONSTER MAGNET), California Crossing is the band’s most commercially successful release. The 11 song collection includes “Mongoose” (as seen in a Toyota Super Bowl commercial, Sons of Anarchy, The Hot Chick, Boondock Saints II and more), “Squash That Fly” (their most successful radio single), “Bultaco” (featuring vocals by The Circle Jerks’ Keith Morris) and fan favorites “Separate Kingdom,” “Hang On” and the title track. This limited edition run is pressed on El Camino / Sand Splatter color vinyl. The LP features newly remastered audio for maximum fidelity. "a strangely nihilistic celebration of all things Cali." - The Guardian “Fu Manchu are the stoned Ramones, a matey Motorhead: a band who can rewrite that album into the infinite future and rule perpetually.” – NME
: Dam Swindle At the core of Dam Swindle has always been an unshakeable love of deep, soulful house music. While there have been forays into disco, soul and funk, they've never forgotten their roots. That, after all, is why they started in the first place: to inject some soul and swing into Amsterdam's then-austere club scene. And it's why, when they got the call from !K7, becoming the first Dutch act in the DJ-Kicks series, the mission felt simple: to honour their years of hard work with a mix of the best, most uplifting house at their fingertips. Since launching in 2011, Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets, AKA Amsterdambased duo Dam Swindle’s partnership has blossomed into a successful DJ and production career, the co-ownership and running of the club Radio Radio, and the spectacular Heist Recordings label, which earlier this year celebrated its 100th release. Their collaborative spirit shines through in their work across diverse genres with an incredible array of artists, including DJ Minx and Kerri Chandler, to name a select few. "When we began, we really missed the soulful side," said Smeets. "Everything was minimal techno, but then we started doing these soulful productions and people loved it. 15 years later, nothing has changed, you know? We still believe dance floors need warmth, for dancing and connecting with likeminded people." This mood permeates the 23-track mix, which was recorded at the duo's hardware-crammed studio beneath the Volkshotel. All warm keys, bright synth lines and heartfelt vocals, classic US favourites rub shoulders with local talents like Makèz, D Stone and Nachtbraker, who composed the bespoke intro and outro featuring, among other elements, sonic snapshots from previous Dam Swindle interviews offering a vivid journey through the highlights of their creative career. And then there are the duo's five originals, whittled down from a 30-strong stack of fresh demos and crafted specifically to suit different sections. From more laidback house to no-nonsense heaters, they anchor the mix. "It was close to writing a whole album," Smeets admitted. The resulting 74 minutes brilliantly captures Dam Swindle in 2026. A decade and half into the game, they're now approaching elder statesmen status in Amsterdam and beyond. Plenty of their fans and peers have grown up with their music. After a quieter period on the road and in the studio post-Covid, the duo have the bit between their teeth again, inspired to write, play and share dance music with as much joy and intent as ever. "When people listen to the mix, they'll understand where we come from, what we do and where we're heading," said Dales. "It's a full circle moment for us, in that sense."

Written with frequent collaborator Matthew Dear and completed with new best friends Jump Source, the new single’s cryptically autobiographical lyrics and heartrending 80s synth-pop atmospherics contrast with the singerproducer’s penchant for impossibly muscular bangers where he repeats the coolest things you’ve ever heard over and over. “I have two emotions – this is the other one,” says Tiga. “Now I’mma make YOU feel.” Now Deetron & Budino make YOU feel as well, as the two euro-stars arrive on Turbo for the first time. Deep house mastery, chopped up new-school + old-school.

CHERYL DURONGPISITKUL I STILL MISS YOU I Still Miss You is a highly personal and cathartic exploration of trauma, loss and grief. Says Durongpisitkul: “The album draws on my lived experiences in a family shaken by my mother’s diagnosis of ovarian cancer and her battle with bipolar disorder. My mother suffered through these illnesses while raising four young children. We lost her to suicide when I was 18. Three years later, and a week into my first big overseas trip, I received a one-line email from my father saying: ‘Yes, I have Bowel Cancer.’ He died a week after my 24th birthday. It was on that overseas trip, 15 years ago, that I first had the idea to represent these experiences through music.” On I Still Miss You, Durongpisitkul reminds the listener that “Grief can be an incredibly isolating experience. I want listeners to come away feeling connected.” Durongpisitkul’s experiences inform every aspect of the album—from form and harmonic structures to lyric and melody. Throughout the record one hears samples, spoken word, and lyrics all drawn from Durongpisitkul’s family videos and her personal diaries.

The collaboration with Brittelle came out of Durongpisitkul’s experience in the New Amsterdam Composer’s Lab. “Working with Brittelle and Hammond was really wonderful. They brought their own creative identities in service of the music,” says Durongpisitkul. Their production expands the 12-piece ensemble. It magnifies the tumultuous, emotional stages that Durongpisitkul explores with depth and clarity in her compositions.

REALITY RED BITUMEN STREET DATE DECEMBER 4th 2026 Reality Red is the third album from Melbourne band Bitumen, previously described as industrial post-punk, Bitumen have expanded their sound into something broader, heavier and harder to pin down. Still dark, vicious and dramatic, Reality Red is also more expansive and more focused. What it is, is a brilliant and ambitious Alternative Rock record, embracing everything that loaded term drags along with it — and it is glorious. Dynamic and layered, Reality Red is driven by propulsive rhythms, blistering guitars and a prowling and intense vocal presence. Songs shift shape, moving between genres and tempos, building tension before breaking into something unexpected. There is an underlying physicality to the record: restless, visceral and constantly in motion.
TRACKLIST: 1. Scent of Angels 2. Minutes of Pure Joy 3. Perffect Dress 4. Silversound 5. Rites Private 6. Architect of the Overflow 7. Casino Black 8. Racing Leather
For the first time, live drums enter Bitumen’s established arsenal of guitars, synths, samples and electronic drums, with a guest appearance by Andy Huhtanen McEwan (Tongue Dissolver). His playing brings a new kinetic force to the band’s sound, pushing the songs into more expansive and volatile territory. Yet for all its increased physicality, Reality Red also shows Bitumen at their most melodic, with acoustic guitar appearing alongside the electric.
GENRE: GOTH ROCK, POST-PUNK, SYNTH-PUNK, DREAM-POP, DARKWAVE, ELECTRONIC ROCK, INDUSTRIAL, ALTERNATIVE, NU METAL
At the heart of Bitumen is collaboration. A tight-knit unit, the band develops its music collectively, drawing inspiration from one another as much as from the world around them. Their influences are wide-ranging and voracious: contemporary art, literature, film, culture and music in all its strange and conflicting forms.
LP-IT-34 LTD ed. transparent red vinyl
Vocalist Kate Binning’s lyrics inhabit that same shifting landscape. Characters emerge and disappear—fictional, imagined, observed and autobiographical—creating a world where the personal and the surreal sit side by side. Her voice moves through these characters with menace, desire and ambiguity, giving Reality Red its particular sense of tension and unease. Reality Red finds Bitumen stretching beyond the confines of post-punk without abandoning the darkness that brought them there. It is heavier, stranger, more immediate and more expansive—a record that takes the familiar language of rock and pushes it somewhere considerably less comfortable.

AGAINST MEN POPULAR MUSIC STREET DATE DECEMBER 4th 2026 Popular Music — the Melbourne-based synth-pop duo of former Parenthetical Girls leader Zac Pennington and composer Prudence Rees-Lee — are very pleased to release their fabulous album Against Men on Vinyl released digitally last year and originally a quickly sold-out tour cassette Against Men is now available in an ultra-limited Vinyl Edition through It Records. The album’s title is a playful yet pointed provocation — sardonic shorthand for the everyday betrayals, minor tragedies, and persistent disappointments of the unfair sex. Self-produced and recorded at Melbourne’s legendary MESS (Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio), the group drew on the studio’s unrivaled collection of historic electronic instruments, evoking the tones and textures of hauntological pioneers like Joe Meek, Daphne Oram, and Delia Derbyshire, alongside the early post-punk experimentations of Human League and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. The result is a leaner, more intimate approach, following the ambitious scale of their acclaimed 2023 album, Minor Works. Throughout Against Men, Popular Music blends classic pop structures with avant-garde ambition, crafting narrative-driven short stories that feel at once timeless and unsettlingly immediate. Each track contributes to the album’s widescreen atmosphere, conjuring imagined pasts, obscured presents, and futures that will never arrive. There’s the glam-rock shuffle of lead single “Passover,” whose shimmering T.Rex swagger belies a subtle indictment: “For there are no good men/And I’m no exception.” Elsewhere, songs function like brief cinematic portraits — “Crying,” a baroque synth-ballad where nostalgia becomes performance (“Those waterworks still flow / But now it’s just for show”), while “Emily Says” echoes Lou Reed empathetic character studies with a tale of a woman exhausted by the banal cruelties of self described feminist men (“When surely everybody knows / Those wolves are wearing women’s clothes”). In “Desert Motel #1,” romantic disintegration unfolds with Cohen-esque grace and devastation, while the haunted obsessions of “Black Shroud” cast a hypnotically shadow over the album. Against Men moves toward its emotional apex with “Providence St.,” a melancholic meditation elevated by celebrated composer Jherek Bischoff’s elegiac string arrangements, and the epic closer “The Last Night of Our Lives,” an eight-minute elegy steeped in romantic fatalism and ironic resilience: “Well-read and welfare-bred and more dead than alive / well, nevermind.”

In the eleven years since her last project, Erykah Badu has gathered not conclusions but a series of existential insights. Before the World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment exists within the tension between introspection and growth. Abi is Badu. Alan is The Alchemist. Recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles, the album is the inevitable collision of two iconoclasts—hypnotic, funny, blunt, deeply personal, and impossible to categorize neatly. Meditative and fluid, Before the World Blows finds Badu contemplating which parts of ourselves and our stories are worth protecting before the world breaks and fragments. Love, innocence, dreams, memories, womanhood. The album unfolds in four movements, charting the progression of self through the prisms of love, art, and identity, inviting us to sit with difficult feelings. Passion blurs with desire, hope with grief, each song revealing another illuminating facet of the inner Baduverse. Alchemist sent Badu a collection of instrumental beats, which she deconstructed and sculpted into tracks that felt uniquely hers, looping his warm, punchy samples with instruments from soft kalimba notes to immersive chords and drums. The result moves fluidly between soul, blues, funk, rock, jazz, and underground hip-hop, yet belongs entirely to none of them. From 2024 to 2025, Abi and Alan road-tested the entire album live, performing in intimate, phone-free settings with Badu’s digital collective, The Cannabinoids, and Alchemist on the MPC, fine-tuning the tracks along the way. Badu has always seen art as an inevitable, infinite extension of the self. At any point in space and time, that means evolution is inevitable, too. Before the world blows, it’s worth it to keep exploring. To have one more kiss. Before the world blows, it’s worth it to get to know thyself.

“A classic rock dream that ebbs beautifully into a little bit of a nightmare.” DANIEL LOPATIN / ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER “On Sinister Grift, Panda Bear cuts a lone figure, bracing himself against the winds of fortune and calamity. Noah’s pure and poignant lamentations are less elusive this time around, as though our narrator has awoken from a sobering dream. Singing a familiar round on an imperiled path, Panda Bear presents a set of torch songs conveying hardfought wisdom, buoyant despite the load they bear.” JESSICA PRATT TRACKLISTING 1. Dissociation (10th Anniversary) The Dillinger Escape Plan Release Date: December 11, 2026

Few bands have earned the right to name an album so precisely. Formed in Morris Plains, New Jersey in 1997, The Dillinger Escape Plan spent two decades forging a sound built on dissonance, polyrhythm, and sheer physical ferocity, and on October 14, 2016, they detonated their final charge. Alongside its announcement, the band confirmed that Dissociation would be their last record, with dissolution to follow the album's touring cycle. Befitting the swansong of such a monumentally important band, Dissociation is an outright masterpiece — referencing every point in the band's consistently stunning discography while breaking more new ground than they had since Ire Works. "Limerent Death" hits like a freight train derailing at full speed; "Symptom of Terminal Illness" lures you into something hauntingly melodic before the ground falls away. Greg Puciato's performance throughout is breathtaking — spoken-word ennui bleeding into howling blues-hardcore, double-tracked pop-crooning set against layered industrial polyrhythm. The closing title track, an electronic ballad accompanied by string quartet SEVEN)SUNS, draws on a melody Puciato wrote at nineteen — the whole album, somehow, coming full circle. Ben Weinman has said of their legacy: "It's definitely cool to know that I left a mark, and that there are things out there that would never be out there if we didn't do what we did." A decade on, that mark has never looked deeper. This 10th Anniversary Edition honours Dissociation's legacy in full. The 2LP presents a completely remastered version with expanded dynamics, pressed alongside five WIP and demo versions sharing insight into the album's creative process. Mirrorboard gatefold sleeve housing reimagined packaging artwork, 1,500-word liner notes by Ryan Downey, and new text with insight into the album and the band from Ben Weinman himself. This is how you honour the uncompromising. This is Dissociation.

The Prodigy The Day Is My Enemy Released December 11, 2026
The Prodigy originally released their sixth album 'The Day is My Enemy', via Take Me To The Hospital/Cooking Vinyl 2015. The album is now re-issued only on classic black vinyl. Uncompromising first single ‘Nasty’ fires out of the cannons like a ferocious statement of intent and finds Keith Flint at his snarling best. Premiering as Zane Lowe’s 'Hottest Record in the World' on BBC Radio 1, it sets the tone perfectly for the new album. The Prodigy have always cut a solitary path through the noisescapes of electronic dance music. They’ve dropped five epoch defining studio albums and delivered unforgettable live performances that have taken electronic beats into unchartered territories. Throughout this time they’ve remained resolutely focused on their own vision, inspiring legions of artists along the way. The Day Is My Enemy is [still] probably the most British sounding album you’ll hear this year. Not British in the flag waving jingoistic sense, but in a way that understands that the nighttime spaces of urban Britain are a multi-hued cacophony of cultures. If Invaders Must Die was the sound of the rusted urban sprawl decaying like an open wound in the British countryside, then The Day is My Enemy is about the angry humanity existing in the decay of the urban nightmare. Recorded both in the wake of Radiate Like This’s release and at gigs marking both the 15th anniversary of the band’s debut EP Exquisite Corpse and during shows celebrating their 20th year as a group, the live recordings captured not just the uniqueness of these occasions but also goosebump-inducing atmospheres and heart-swelling emotions that are conjured up whenever Warpaint take to the stage. “Between 2022 and 2024 we released our most recent album, Radiate Like This, celebrated the 15th anniversary of our debut EP, Exquisite Corpse, and also our 20th year as a band.We played a handful of shows for each of those occasions, and luckily we documented a few of the performances,” the band say of ARTIFACT’s gemination, which brings together some of their most beloved and cherished songs, including Undertow, Love Is To Die, So Good and more, all recorded in front of audiences in Houston, London, Porto, Dallas, Phoenix, Brussels, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and New York City. B1. Oh Patti (Don’t Feel Sorry For Loverboy) B2. Bam Salute B3. Sugar And Spice B4. Philosophy Now
Described by one of its creators as the “the most digital sounding analogue record ever made”, the shimmering textures forged by Green Gartside and David Gamson were made by carefully recording each individual element on the record, before meticulously bringing the sounds together as one sculptural whole. This elemental approach has been subsequently adopted as the norm by forward-thinking producers like Daft Punk and their followers, but Gartside and Gamson conceived Provision without the computer technology that has made this way of working relatively straight forward. Provision was built piece-by-piece on tape. Yet what elements Scritti Politti had. Among them Roger Troutman, founder of the Zapp band brought his unique, cutting edge talkbox instrument to the sessions; Dan Huff (whose collaborations stretch from Kenny Rogers to Taylor Swift) added guitar; while Miles Davis helped the pair complete a track Green had started in his London flat.
LP: RT-696-LP File Under: Alternative Vinyl Non-Returnable
Bringing all these individual ingredients together was a Herculean task – Scritti Politti admit to ‘enjoying’ a tense relationship by the time the sessions concluded CD + Bonus Tracks: – but it led to a stunning record that even now, still sits RT-696-CD ahead of its times. File Under: Alternative CD contains the bonus tracks, Oh Patti (Extended) and Boom! There She Was (Dub)

ADRIANNE LENKER
Hours Were the Birds | a-sides and besides | abysskiss Her early solo records, available on LP + CD
Big Thief ’s front-woman Adrianne Lenker has established herself as one of the most powerful voices in music. Prior to Big Thief exploding onto the scene in 2016, Adrianne Lenker had been quietly writing songs for years, both on her own and with Buck Meek. Her early solo releases are beautiful pieces of work that provide early glimpses of what was to come. These releases (Hours Were the Birds, a-sides and besides and abysskiss) have now joined her 4AD home and are being made available on LP and CD.
Hours Were the Birds (2014)
While her output with Big Thief is what brought her music to the attention of most, their first record is not the beginning of the story. “I moved to New York and, starting from complete scratch, had nothing to show anybody that was representing what I did, other than stuff I made when I was 13. So, I decided I should record a solo album of my songs.” In 2013 Lenker returned to her hometown of Minneapolis and entered Terrarium Studios with producer Rob Oesterlin, where she laid down ten songs on acoustic guitar. “It’s basically just like a live solo show,” Lenker describes, “but with an added twist.” Hours Were the Birds was released in 2014. Drenched in beautiful imagery and intimate stories, it is the work of a woman on a journey, conquering new territory with bravery and honesty. Adrianne Lenker + Buck Meek (2014)
Adrianne & Buck met the day she moved to New York City. They explored by bicycle and eventually began to play music together. Meek’s off-kilter, piercing guitar licks and solos were the perfect juxtaposition to bring Lenker’s melodic and stirring vocals and lyrics to fruition. They made touring their whole lives, and in 2014, songs crafted on the road were captured on two EPs released under the moniker of Buck and Anne: one called a-sides and one called b-sides. Both warm, acoustic affairs. a-sides and besides provide an early glimpse at what was to come, while standing on their own as a document of a deeply meaningful time in their creative lives. abysskiss (2018)
Adrianne’s third solo album was recorded following a two week road trip through the southwestern United States. She headed into the studio with longtime friend Luke Temple, and for one week they made music. The songs chosen for this collection were the ones that felt the most alive in the room. These are not castaways or B-sides. Some had been alive for years while some were written just days before the session. The thread that connects these songs is not something that can easily be put down in words. Intuition connects these songs. They are a record of a time. With abysskiss, Lenker further illuminated to the listening public what those close to her already knew; she is a songwriter of the highest order, following her voice and the greater Voices that pass through her with an unflinching openness and clarity of translation. THROWING MUSES Throwing Muses
In August of 1986, 4AD released the self-titled debut album from Rhode Island’s Throwing Muses, triggering astonishing reviews, as if music writers could scarcely believe what they were hearing. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, knowing the impact and longevity of the band — Kristin Hersh, Tanya Donelly, Leslie Langston and David Narcizo — 4AD are reissuing a newly remastered version of Throwing Muses, originally released while the bandmembers were still in their teens. Remastered by Kevin Vanbergen and presented on black vinyl, oxblood vinyl and cd, this album has been long out of print. Possession is a loaded word, but these songs were a direct result of a car accident Hersh suffered as a teenager that left her with serious injuries and, “a lightning rod to the skull,” that caused her to hear music no one else heard. Music with jagged edges and unexpected melodic leaps. This record was recorded while Hersh was eight months pregnant; her child and child-songs merging in the studio. 4AD label chief at the time, Ivo Watts-Russell, funded the project, having found himself listening to their self-released cassette while caught in traffic: “I listened three or four times in a row. There was something so exciting about them—reminded me of The Birthday Party—the energy the lyrics. The music was hard and aggressive, but the more you lived with it, the more their beauty came through.” That combination of aggression and beauty, both intricate and primal, feverishly complex yet intensely melodic, elevates Throwing Muses to even headier heights. 40 years on, Throwing Muses has not lost one atom of its ability to thrill, mesmerize, unnerve and surprise, with a strong, underrated influence on the alt rock, grunge and riot grrrl scenes that followed. The story is ongoing, with Throwing Muses continuing to record and tour, and offshoot projects like 50 Foot Wave, Lakuna and solo projects. This, though, is the record where a whole family of music began. “For some of us, the Throwing Muses’ debut was one of those records, the kind that leaves you feeling your life has been changed in ways you can’t define.” - SPIN MAGAZINE / Long out of print / Available on Black or Oxblood vinyl + cd / Newly remastered by Kevin Vanbergen A1/1 Call Me A2/2 Green A3/3 Hate My Way A4/4 Vicky’s Box A5/5 Rabbits Dying B1/6 America (She Can’t Say No) B2/7 Fear B3/8 Stand Up B1/9 Soul Soldier B2/10 Delicate Cutters

Coming December 11th from Matador Records, the third installment of Butthole Surfers’ 1984-‘91 reissue series: ‘piouhgd’ The 5th studio album by Texas-bred psych stalwarts: it’s pronounced “P.O.’ed.” Originally released in 1991, it finds them mid transition – morphing from underground freakshow to unlikely MTV mainstays. Face-melting guitars abound, as do references to comedian Gary Shandling. A cover of Donovan’s “Hurdy Gurdy Man” is skewed and tuneful. ‘Humpty Dumpty LSD’ Humpty Dumpty LSD, originally released in 2002, compiles odds and ends from The Butthole Surfers’ mid-80s imperial phase onto two LPs. 19 tracks that find the San Antonio psych-punks in full-on gonzo glory, with the band’s cup flowing over with unhinged acid-rock madness. Both albums remastered by Golden under the guidance of guitarist Paul Leary.

Before he was writing and producing hits for Adele, Sia, Harry Styles, Lily Allen, Beck, Pink, and Paul McCartney, Greg Kurstin was one half of the band Geggy Tah. The other half was the vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Tommy Jordan. Both Greg and Tommy had younger sisters who couldn’t pronounce their names when they were kids — Greg was known as “Geggy,” and Tommy was “Tah” — but more importantly they were both musical savants. It was an amazing time for them with this unusual group, touring with a third member, the theremin virtuoso Pamelia Kurstin. They made three albums of blue-eyed soul together in the nineties (their 1996 song “Whoever You Are” topped the charts and wound up in a Mercedes Benz commercial), and after that they moved to LA, as you did when you had a hit. It’s been 30 years since Sacred Cow blew up and made Geggy Tah radio stars. So, we’re putting it out on vinyl — remixed, remastered, and resequenced by the band. Please send your angry letters to…

• We Can Say Without Reservation that Dick’s Picks Vol. 4—Fillmore East 2/13-14/70 Is Our Favorite
Thanks to our friends at Warner Music/Rhino, we at Real Gone Music have been selling the Grateful Dead Dick’s Picks series since the inception of our company almost 15 years ago. So, we are intimately familiar with every one of its 36 volumes, and we can say without reservation that Dick’s Picks Vol. 4—Fillmore East 2/13-14/70 is our favorite. And we’re not the only ones. This volume presents one of the most famous stands of shows in the band’s long history of touring, the 2/13/70-2/14/70 shows at the Fillmore East in New York. Just how good were the three sets that comprised each show? Well, when LSD chemist and band benefactor Owsley Stanley produced the official release History of the Grateful Dead, Vol. 1 (Bear’s Choice), he lifted portions of each night’s first set and acoustic second set in assembling that record, yet there was enough (very) strong material left over to make Dick’s Picks Vol. 4 one of the greatest live albums in the Grateful Dead catalog. The biggest gem of the entire set—and some might say the crown jewel of the entire series—is the now legendary rendition of “Dark Star,” but there really isn’t a weak song on the album, and a rare live rendition of “Mason’s Children” even gives this one a collector kick. When Bob Weir says as he steps up to the mike at the beginning of the set, “This ain’t a show, it’s a party,” he ain’t kidding—if you’re not on the bus yet, this one will save a seat for you.
• And We’re Not the Only Ones • This Volume Presents the Legendary Stand of Shows at the Fillmore East That Presented the Dead with the Allman Brothers • The Performances Were So Good That LSD Chemist and Band Benefactor Owsley Stanley Lifted Portions of Each Night’s First Set and Acoustic Second Set in Assembling History of the Grateful Dead, Vol. 1 (Bear’s Choice) • Yet There Was So Much Great Material Left Over That Dick’s Picks Vol. 4 Ranks as One of the Best Live Albums in the Dead’s Considerable Canon • The Obvious Highlight Is the Iconic Rendition of “Dark Star” That Is Arguably the Crown Jewel of the Entire Series

FINAL SIZE LESS BLEED
While Dick’s Picks Vol. 4 has been out on vinyl before, we’ve given this edition our usual sonic upgrade, starting with a fresh mastering by Jeffrey Norman (in his words, “This is definitely worth doing”) that beefs up the bottom end of this sparkling recording. Lacquers are, as always, cut by Clint Holley and Dave Polster at Well Made Music, and our friends at Gotta Groove Records have pressed the 6-LP set on 180-gram black vinyl. The two-piece hardcover box includes an insert with Bear’s original liner notes. We’ve limited this to 3500 hand-numbered copies…every one of them will blow your mind.

LAKE STREET DIVE Bad Self Portraits
ED R E T S REMA
Lake Street Dive’s acclaimed breakthrough album, Bad Self Portraits has been fully remastered. When Bad Self Portraits was released in 2014 Rolling Stone deemed Lake Street Dive “The year’s best new band” and the album debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Their television performances have included The Late Show With David Letterman, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Today Show. Over the years, they’ve captivated massive audiences at esteemed festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and Toronto Jazz Festival, in addition to headlining tours across the globe and sharing stages with acts like Brandi Carlile and Sheryl Crow. Lake Street Dive continues to push the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force, not only through their eclectic sound — a boldly original cross-pollination of soul, folk, jazz, classic pop, and more — the five-piece’s allembracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd.

Here, in the midst of a long tenure as keyboardist for storied Philadelphia rock band The War on Drugs, Robbie Bennett steps out with two 2xLPs that bring his keyboard and synthesizer meditations to life. On Steloken, Bennett welcomes us bit by bit into a world full of warmth, fuzz and space, using piano, MIDI and a polyphonic synthesizer called the Soma Terra, which is built into a stump of wood. Circulation takes the meditations of Steloken one step further, widening the scope of Bennett’s cozy synthesizer compositions like snow come nightfall. With mixing from War on Drugs collaborator Nick Krill and mastering by Quentin Stoltzfus (The Walkmen, Rosali), both albums sound crisp and cozy, and are available in black with a gatefold sleeve. Selling Points: • Album release tour of US East Coast in the works for February 2027 • Extensive promotional campaign with in-house press via Cody DeFalco and radio via Terrorbird • Mixed by Nick Krill (The War on Drugs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) • Mastered by Matt Colton (The Walkmen, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Rosali, The Azusa Plane) Catalog #: 90 ADR (Steloken) 92 ADR (Circulation) Black gatefold 2xLP: 727431750044 (Steloken) 727431750693 (Circulation) Box lot of 30

• ORIGINAL TCHAD BLAKE MIXES • PRODUCED BY WENDY MELVOIN • 2 BRAND NEW RECORDINGS • 2ND PRESSING - 500 COPIES! Writing and recording the majority of Nocturnes at their home studio in Los Angeles, Leisha and Camila drew inspiration from '70s vinyl — and each other’s company. After finishing the demos, their friend Wendy Melvoin (of Prince and the Revolution) invited Uh Huh Her to continue the production at her treehouse studio in Henson Recording Studios (now Chaplin Studios). "We would just drink wine and record for hours and hours," Camila says of this time. "It was amazing. It was total freedom." When it came time to mix Nocturnes, Melvoin suggested her friend and super producer Tchad Blake (The Bangles, Arctic Monkeys, Sheryl Crow, Cibo Matto), who put the finishing touches on the record from his studio in the English countryside. “It meant the world that our fans directly supported the mixing of the album through online eBay auctions of memorabilia, vinyl, art, and even a couple private dinners, because that enabled us to enlist the powers of the incredible Tchad Blake,” Cam says. The entirety of those original mixes have never seen the light of day until now, on this 2026. As they contemplated rereleasing Nocturnes with Kill Rock Stars, Cam started digging around to find the album’s original mixes. “I chose Tchad’s first and second mix attempts because I wanted to preserve his first instincts before we gave him a million notes,” she says. This is truly how he heard it on one or two tries. The songs are longer, they're more rocked out, they're a little more raucous.” Cam also surfaced a hypnotic song she’d written in 2020 called “Shook” to include on the rerelease. She says: “I wrote ‘Shook’ during the pandemic. The chorus was about being completely on my face, as everyone was during that time, feeling trapped. I had different lyrics for the verses, but then I thought, ‘I want to make this interesting.’ So I intermingled Leisha’s verses with my hook for the chorus. We made it into our own thing.” Cam and Leisha also put their own, electrified spin on Sonic Youth’s timeless and gritty “Kool Thing.” She says: “I'm very riot grrrl-leaning, and I always loved that song. It feels timely. But I wanted the influence to feel intentional, not imitative. Something that inspired us but didn't overpower our own identity, so we slowed the tempo down, re-arranged it and layered the vocals.”

SINDICATO U N O b/w D O S Sindicato is a new instrumental project from members of Los Yesterdays, drawing deeply from the psychedelic Bolero sounds of Central and South America from the late '60s and early '70s. At the center of the project is a simple but unusual idea: a Bolero without a singer. Instead, the emotional voice comes from a string trio—guitar, bass, and drums—creating music that feels romantic, mysterious, theatrical,
and
deeply
human.
The
tracks
move
between
warm,
dreamy
melodies
and
darker
psychedelic textures, blending the intimacy and melancholy of classic Bolero with the atmosphere of vintage Latin psychedelia. There is a cinematic quality, but the performances remain raw, soulful, and immediate. Both sides were recorded live to tape at Penrose Studios, preserving the players' natural chemistry, the imperfections of the performances, and the warmth and character of analog recording.

Trá Pháidín are a mutable collective of musicians who are geographically, culturally and mentally torn between Conamara Theas, Cathair Chorcaí, Ciarraí, Uíbh Fhailí, Sligeach and Port Láirge, active in one form or another since 2019. The music they make, which to date has mostly been self-released, is of an ambitious breadth, embracing traditional Irish absurdity, jazz, folk and krautrock influences, whilst remaining tantalisingly beyond any one specific understanding of either the world around them or even themselves. More defined however, is their overall conceptual approach, focusing upon original Gaelic music and what lies beyond simply “conas atá tú?”. Cloch ‘s Claí (trans. Stone & Wall), their first record to be released by World of Echo, develops their established interests into more adventurous waters (and walls!) than ever. Based on the historical significance embedded into dry-stone walls, the album presents a satirical view of Éire’s relationship with her native tongue and the Gaeltacht (regions where Gaeilge - Irish Gaelic - remains the primary language). Constructed of ten tracks, each representative of a stone in a metaphorical stone-wall, Cloch ‘s Claí draws from styles of improvisation in Irish traditional music, exploring avenues of ornamentation and accompaniment in the tradition. As such, the arrangement changes in every performance, a new stonewall articulated each time - the recording on this album represents just one such arrangement in one such performance. Inspired by Myles na gCopaleen’s An Béal Bocht, the wall comes to embody a variety of themes scattered across the landscape and psyche of na Gaeltachtaí - tokenism, housing, gentry politics, ribbon developments and so on. The result is a music expressive of regional styles in traditional music, krautrock, free jazz, post-rock, minimalism and drone presented in a way that feels instinctively fluid and reflective of a hushed existentialism from the west of Ireland.

First released by Ninja Tune in 2005, the ten-track album stands on its own as a cinematic electronic record, moving between stealth, tension and explosive action. Amon Tobin is a Brazilian-born electronic musician whose catalogue spans Bricolage, Permutation, Supermodified, Foley Room and ISAM. Chaos Theory remains one of his best-known scoring projects. Ubisoft commissioned Tobin to score the third Splinter Cell game. Ninja Tune released the soundtrack as a standalone album in 2005. Tobin built a unified score with recurring, evolving themes rather than a collection of unrelated tracks. The music was made almost entirely from acoustic instruments, with every sound warped and re-warped along the way. Tobin described his approach as writing the music “as if it was a score for a Dario Argento movie.” This ten-track edition spreads the soundtrack across four vinyl sides, from “The Lighthouse” and “El Cargo” to “Hokkaido” and “The Clean Up.”

Soul Jazz Records Presents
FREDDIE MCGREGOR – FM
Special limited-edition one off pressing cyan coloured vinyl edition First released in 1992, out of print for over 30 years and extremely hard to find original copies, FM remains one of the key releases from legendary singer Freddie McGregor. Worth its weight in gold for the inclusion of the all-time classic anthem 'Natural Collie’. ‘FM’ is an absolutely stunning collection of tracks by Freddie McGregor, recorded between 1977 and 1982, originally released as singles on Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith’s High Times label in Jamaica. Freddie McGregor is accompanied on the album by the Soul Syndicate band, one of the most important and defining roots reggae session groups, who worked regularly with many of the major producers in Kingston in the 1970s and 1980s. What is amazing about this album is that ‘Natural Collie’, the most well-known cut of this set, is simply the first in a line of KILLER tunes as Freddie McGregor and the Soul Syndicate drop stunning original tunes as well as playful recuts, re-versioning classic cuts and generally have a great time. The music is a startlingly fresh set of late 1970s/early 1980s funky, soulful and righteous roots reggae tunes that include ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Strange Things’, ‘Revolutionist’, ‘Leave Yah’ and ‘Mark of the Beast’. A number of the tunes here are McGregor’s stunningly soulful renditions of American R&B classic tunes. The classic ‘Natural Collie’ is McGregor’s Rastafarian-inspired cover of the soul and jazz artist Norman Connor’s ‘You Are My Starship’, released two years prior. ‘Love Ballad’ was written by Skip Scarborough for the USA soul group L.T.D. (featuring Jeffrey Osborne). Here McGregor also versions his own ‘I’m A Revolutionist’, originally cut for the Studio One label, The Intern’s ‘Nothing is Impossible’ (as ‘Mission Impossible’) and John Holt’s classic ‘Strange Things’. Freddie McGregor was born in Clarendon, Jamaica in 1956 and began his singing career as a child at Studio One, signing to the label when he was just seven years old, alongside Fitzroy ‘Ernest’ Wilson and Peter Austin, in the group The Clarendonians. Converting to Rastafari in 1975, his music took on a strong socially conscious tone, with classic songs such as ‘Bobby Babylon’, and ‘I Am A Revolutionist’, recorded for Clement ‘Sir Coxsone’ Dodd, becoming a key part of Studio One’s resurgence in the 1970s and ‘80s. In this same prolific period McGregor also recorded a stunning set of single releases for producer Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith’ on his High Times label. Collected here, these songs show Freddie McGregor at the top of his game and height of his powers. On all these tunes, McGregor is backed by the Soul Syndicate – Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith, Carlton ‘Santa’ Davis, George ‘Fully’ Fullwood, Tony Chin and Bernard Harvey. This much in-demand session group recorded for many A-class producers including Keith Hudson, Niney the Observer (as ‘The Observers’), Duke Reid and Smith. They created the famous ‘Stalag 17’ rhythm (used for Tenor Saw’s ‘Ring the Alarm’, Sister Nancy’s ‘Bam Bam’ and many more) for producer Winston Riley and were also an integral part of The Aggrovators, who recorded extensively for Bunny Lee. FM showcases the talents of Freddie McGregor and The Soul Syndicate like no other album! This album has been fully remastered on high-quality vinyl pressing, presented in the original artwork, and is also available for the first time ever on CD, housed in gatefold-style card sleeve.

Shika Shika presents the fifth volume in their Guide to the Birdsong series, this time taking the song of endangered birds to the dancefloor. This new chapter of the long-running project that works with renowned artists and producers to turn endangered birdsong into music. This time, tracks from previous Birdsong albums are reimagined by a global line-up of forward-thinking electronic artists, including Auntie Flo, Photay, Matias Aguayo, Yosi Horikawa, Tayhana and El Búho, transforming the calls, rhythms and atmospheres of threatened bird species into a new remix album. The idea is simple and unique: take music made from and inspired by the songs of endangered birds, and invite some of the most distinctive voices in contemporary electronic music to reinterpret it. The result is a record that moves between experimental club music, organic electronica, Latin American underground sounds, downtempo, fieldrecording-led production and global dance music, all rooted in the natural world. Across its previous editions, from South America, Mexico, Central America, Western Africa and Migration, A Guide to the Birdsong has raised almost $100,000 USD for on-the-ground bird conservation, while introducing listeners to some of the world’s most threatened bird species through music. The project uses these incredible species and incredible music to raise awareness about the plight of the natural world.
Shika Shika is a label for music without borders. The label was founded in 2015 between Berlin, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Paris to give a platform to emerging artsts from around the world, focussing on artists exploring global folk roots, organic sounds and electronica. Since then, the label has released music from over 90 artists from 30 countries, including 36 digital and +15 vinyl releases. Shika Shika is also a non-profit organisation, developing unique projects where the music, art and culture that inspire us can come together in service of the social and environmental issues we are passionate about.

HAUSU MOUNTAIN
Chicago label finding the fun in experimental music since 2012
Before Cocojoey joined the Hausu Mountain family with their 2025 album STARS, it turns out that they had already created their own world. COCOJOEY’S WORLD that is (caps necessary), and we’re all living in it. Chicago-based songwriter / producer / multi-instrumentalist Joey Meland’s debut under the Cocojoey moniker originally hit the streets in October, 2022 as a self-released digital / tape album with subsequent tiny editions to follow on various formats, all of which are nestled comfortably in fans’ homes and not to be found even on resale markets. Hausu Mountain is delighted to return COCOJOEY’S WORLD to the physical world with a proper tape / CD reissue that features a bonus track and updated artwork / packaging from HausMo honcho Max Allison. The album demonstrates that Meland’s spellbinding omni-genre production style, hyper-intricate vocal and keyboard performances, and earworm hook sensibilities were all there from the jump - a culmination of a lifetime of musical exploration and personal growth that manifests in grand fashion from the project’s earliest material. Ecstatic pop melodies collide with brutal death metal breakdowns. Operatic arias float over 16-bit video game fantasias. Piano solos dance through bossa nova arrangements and spiral into Meshuggah-esque prog denouements. Cocojoey’s toolkit is bottomless and they apply everything in their brain, their hands, and their heart to pursue unfettered self-expression. For many years before Cocojoey emerged as Meland’s primary project, they participated in the music scenes of their native Madison, WI, through college in Champaign-Urbana, IL, and into their life in Chicago with projects of various stylistic stripes, including black metal bands as a teen (as captured on the COCOJOEY’S WORLD interlude appropriately titled “middle school black metal”), funk and indie rock bands as a young adult, and solo experimental/noise projects throughout. Adept at keyboards, guitar, drums, and all manner of electronics, Meland feels like they often served as the missing link within other people’s bands in these earlier Cat #: HAUSMO 161 era(s), taking on instruments as needed and contributing their talents to fulfill their Artist: Cocojoey bandmates’ ambitions. In their work as Cocojoey, Meland traces their own solo path Album: COCOJOEY’S WORLD from songwriting to production to performance, tapping into a reservoir of Format: Cassette, CD experience gained not only from other collaborations but from years spent teaching Label: Hausu Mountain music at a professional level. They learned they could do it all on their own, and CD Edition Cassette Edition found complete freedom in burrowing into new ideas with no restrictions on genre Fluorescent pink tape - 4-panel J-Card Packaged in a 4-panel digipak and no limit to the complexity of their songwriting. COCOJOEY’S WORLD hits as a tale of liberation through music and the process of developing trust in oneself, as Meland’s lyrics lay out a personal quest to overcome “On the opening track of STARS, Joey Meland offers something of hardships both external and internal: scrapping through life in Chicago as a musician / music teacher while grappling with chronic physical conditions that a mission statement for their project Cocojoey: “Too many more threaten to derail their momentum. Cocojoey presents these problems in both their directions to go and I just don’t know how to pick a path.” They sing these lines gently at first, over a placid keyboard fantasia, but over lyrics and their production with an ever-present outlook of humor and hope. They the course of the track’s three-minute runtime, the delicate melodies frame “COCOJOEY’S CAVE” as an exploration of agoraphobia in social settings with an upcoming scheduled hospital visit looming over their mood, while the build into black metal screams. The synths contort into acidaccompanying dungeon-synth / blastbeat metal sonics and their sweetly pitched-up damaged drum’n’bass, then tilt-a-whirl prog-rock and feverish vocal melodies contrasted with ferocious howls set the scene for a “traveler with a showtunes that feel like they’re ripped from All That Jazz’s deranged lantern [to] explore [their] cave.” What better way to strip away the fear death dreams. It’s unrelentingly paced and overstuffed with ideas; associated with an upcoming colonoscopy? By the end of the album, with the mantra with each successive track, it feels like Meland is trying to push the of “OUT THERE” assuring us that “we’re ephemeral anyway,” we have borne witness gas pedal even further through the floor.” - PITCHFORK to Meland’s anxieties and well-wishes for their future, with each moment accompanied by production that illuminates the emotions of their creator in lockstep with their lyrics. In the wake of the original release of COCOJOEY’S WORLD, Meland hit the ground running. Through a continuous schedule of local Chicago shows and a regimen of DIY touring that finds them on the road across the US every few months, they’ve enraptured a dedicated fanbase eager to fall down the rabbit hole with each new song that Meland introduces to the setlist - which still features COCOJOEY’S WORLD classics that hit as hard as ever. As sublime case studies in narrative tension and sudden turns in composition, these early Cocojoey songs burst with unexpected climaxes and on-a-dime shifts in both directions of intensity that really get the crowd going in a live setting. Gnarly slam metal riffs with Meland barking like a hardcore frontperson could give way to whimsical keyboard interludes that evoke a stroll through a fairy forest grotto. What seems like a conventional pop song could split open into hyper-complex polymetric passages following time signatures that only their creator could comprehend. More than future Cocojoey material, COCOJOEY’S WORLD highlights breakbeats and drum & bass production as a rhythmic starting point for each track’s skyward trajectories, imbuing the album with a bright and fidgety energy that its composer aptly describes as “Wii-Sports-Core.” In our minds’ eyes, we’re cruising through low-polygon waterscapes on jetskis or gazing at digital rocky island vistas from the green on the golf course. We get the feeling that Cocojoey has our pleasure as listeners in mind at all times, seeking out moments of tranquility or joy in equal measure with moments of catharsis and abandon. This philosophy is so in keeping with Hausu Mountain’s ethos as a label that it feels like COCOJOEY’S WORLD has always been in the catalog. But now, it’s official.
HAUSU MOUNTAIN
Chicago label finding the fun in experimental music since 2012
Chicago-based songwriter / producer / multi-instrumentalist Joey Meland makes music under the name Cocojoey. Their album STARS stands as a contemporary landmark in the Hausu Mountain catalog, showcasing their ecstatic approach to “pop music” that overflows with finely wrought details and juxtaposed flashes of far-flung genres. Meland’s omnivorous compositions tie together aspects of prog, death metal, video game music, experimental electronics, and untold other styles into luminescent pieces that still hit as pop tunes. Animated by their creator’s penchant for earworm hooks and dazzling melodic architectures, Cocojoey’s songs teem with their virtuosic keyboard performances and vocal takes that flit from gorgeous operatic falsetto all the way to guttural growls that activate the mosh pit whenever they perform live. A calendar year after the album’s release, STARS gets a second orbit around the galaxy in the form of STARS REROLL. Though nominally a collection of remixes, the fellow Hausu Mountain artists that Meland asked to rework songs from STARS treat the source material as a jumping-off point to sculpt bespoke worlds of their own, infused with the sonic signatures and future-facing production styles that each artist explores in their own music. Hausu Mountain is nothing if not a family enterprise, as the label’s artists regularly make music together, play shows and tour together, and consider each other close friends. With STARS REROLL, the roster of buds gleefully deconstructs and rebuilds Cocojoey’s album, following their own ideas wherever they may lead while never losing the euphoric energy and stylistic variety that made the original shine so brightly. Angel Marcloid takes on Cocojoey’s “TIME TO GO!” under the banner of her Fire-Toolz moniker - a flagship project in the HausMo catalog that now releases music with the venerable Warp Records. Her “vapAORwave edit” dials down the tempo on the original (a classic vaporwave strategy) so Meland’s voice lands in a lower register closer to a hard rock singer of yore, and Marcloid’s production brings the AOR flourishes to match: soaring guitar solos, majestic keyboard lines, tom-heavy drum fills. The composite sounds like something you’d hear on an 80s-focused oldies radio station and struggle to remember where exactly it came from. Montreal-based producer d’Eon reconstructs Cocojoey’s “TRUST IN EVENTS” from the ground up in his post-baroque digital production style, arranging the original’s melodic cascades for a deep arsenal of synthetic instrumentation. A percussive string section carries the chord progression as d’Eon reiterates the lead melody with intertwined horns, woodwinds, harpsichords, and dulcimers. The version filters the twists of Meland’s composition through d’Eon’s classical sense of grandeur, equally suited for a symphonic concert hall or the soundtrack of a turn-of-the-century Squaresoft RPG. Chicago-based producer Mike Meegan a.k.a. RXM Reality gets rowdy with his remix CD Edition of “ODD EYE SLIDE” as he rearranges tiny fragments of the original into a jittery high-BPM In a mini-LP jacket grid that ripples with ballistic drum programming and speaker-shredding bursts of ultradefinition sound design. Chopping Meland’s voice into momentary samples and weaving them into a new web of hocketing shouts, RXM Reality emerges with something akin to Chicago juke music charged by incessant repetition and complex micro-rhythms, with each “On the opening track of STARS, Joey Meland offers something of new element he introduces ratcheting up the intensity closer to the boiling point. a mission statement for their project Cocojoey: “Too many more New Jersey-based experimental prog freak queen Faye Fadem a.k.a. Trust Fund Ozu directions to go and I just don’t know how to pick a path.” They sing (who has her Hausu Mountain debut in the pipeline for 2027) jokes that her remix these lines gently at first, over a placid keyboard fantasia, but over philosophy amounts to “making a whole new Trust Fund Ozu song” - and her take on the course of the track’s three-minute runtime, the delicate melodies Cocojoey’s “hearth<3” proves to be no exception. Though her remix maintains some melodies and synth parts of the original, her ferocious new vocal performance and dizzying build into black metal screams. The synths contort into aciddrums mutate an already overloaded song into an even more bonkers experience that damaged drum’n’bass, then tilt-a-whirl prog-rock and feverish from one torrential climax to the next. HausMo honchos Max Allison a.k.a. Mukqs showtunes that feel like they’re ripped from All That Jazz’s deranged leapfrogs and Doug Kaplan a.k.a. MrDougDoug each turn in reworks of their own. For his “Scramble” death dreams. It’s unrelentingly paced and overstuffed with ideas; of “THE I LIKE SONG,” Mukqs strictly sticks to audio sourced from Cocojoey’s original, but with each successive track, it feels like Meland is trying to push the grinds individual elements into dust and sprinkles them across the stereo spread with hard gas pedal even further through the floor.” - PITCHFORK panning spatialization tactics. In the fast-scrolling collage style that defines one branch of Mukqs’s music, his version peppers Meland’s screams and programmed drums over thinly diced synth lines, piecing together a queasy cut-up noise session that never repeats any moment twice. Kaplan’s “Scrumble” of “TIME TO SPARE” stretches out to over eight minutes as he recontextualizes the MIDI data from the original song’s session file into a warp-speed network of short loops that elastically shift their starting and ending points - in keeping with the MIDI-scavenging / re-arranging production ideology that has defined his solo output on HausMo. MrDougDoug’s unique tonal sensibilities transfix us with his Conlon Nancarrowesque piano rolls, chunky bass slaps, and squished vocal formants, while his remix’s sum total feels like zooming into single phrases of Meland’s composition and expanding them into an ever-rotating cross-section of each detail. Remixes by Cocojoey bookend STARS REROLL, as the composer takes the opportunity to re-imagine “TINY SPRITE IN THE ORCHESTRA OF THE STARS” through two distinct lenses. The collection opens with “TINY SPRITE (COCOJOEY DANCE MIX),” in which Meland surrounds their original’s delicate synth melodies and wistful vocal takes with a constantly morphing palette of modern dancefloor production. Shards of breakcore segue straight into dubstep bass womps and give way to acid techno squiggles, transmuting a song that originally sounded like exploring a tranquil video game environment into a banger fit for peak time at a particularly outré rave. Meland zeroes in on the cozy VGM factor of “TINY SPRITE” with their collection-concluding version dubbed “ORCHESTRA OF THE STARS (Cocojoey’s Town Theme).” Rebuilding the melodies with a menu of dayglo PS1-era synths and pianos planted against a sprightly 808 drum track that pops with tom-tom bubbles and clave clicks, the rework’s welcoming atmosphere paints the image of a town square bustling with activity. It serves as a fitting end to a collection populated by a crew of friends with diverse production styles and approaches to the process of remixing - as if Hausu Mountain’s roster got together to check out the market and grab lunch together in a townscape brought to life by Cocojoey’s vibrant musical vision before each heading down their own alleyway and off into the distance.

ABOUT THE ALBUM On their third album, Amaro, Bibi Club invites us to brave the dark beasts that shadow us beneath the surface, and to devote ourselves to the healing power of a fierce will to live. It explores the liminal spectrum between the here and beyond, pointing to love, nature, and community as the unifying purpose. The songs draw a map of a world of its own, following the trajectory traced by the Bibis in recent years. Now out of the living room, we dance in a mental space overloaded with grief and fear in their rawest forms. Following the death of two loved ones in the last year, the mantra “I want to love, I want to live” resonates intensely in each melody; if the heart is a place that never dies, we must reach it as quickly as possible.

Inspired by memorable artistic encounters, tours with Blonde Redhead and Circuit des yeux, and a collaboration with Calvin Johnson, Bibi Club now reveals itself through avantpop and electronic body music with elements of dark wave and neofolk, simultaneously borrowing from baroque sounds with harpsichords, trumpets, and ritual chants to be learned by heart. Supported by a caring community, including saxophonist and activist Dimitri Milbrun (George Sand) and singer-songwriter Helena Deland (A Different Light), Amaro allows Bibi Club to define itself in both intimate and collective terms.
