FAITH FORMATION

Sundays 10 am | Room 121 | Mysteries of Faith

Join the study of "Sinners in the Hands of a Loving God": "Fire and brimstone" sermons were a part of growing up for many. Fear of "eternal damnation" evoked an "angry, wrathful God" watching our every move. Along with Christian pastor & author Brian Zahnd, we'll contrast the

Jesus of the Sermon on the Mount and Matt 25 with the thousand-year portrayal of anger that continues to afflict many. Please join us. No need to read the book. Email dfnoland@gmail.com to join the weekly commentary. All are welcome!

Sundays 10 am | Room 119 | Be Still and Journey, Open to anyone interested

Led by Pat Cornwell

Our Fall book selection will be Amy Jill Levine’s book, Sermon on the Mount

Mondays 1:30 pm | Reception Room | The Seekers Bible Study led by Bill Pegram

We continue digging deep into the Gospel of Matthew.

Tuesdays 5 pm | Zoom

Join Pr Jonathan on Tuesday nights at 5:00pm via zoom for a discussion of John Fugelsang’s new book, The Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person’s Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists, and Flock-Fleecing Frauds. Fugelsang was raised in the Catholic Church and in his book he offers practical advice on how we can fight for the love, mercy, and service that are at the heart of Christianity. As always, reading is encouraged but is optional! If you have any questions, contact Pr Jonathan at jtrapp@redeemer.org

Led by David Ott

Wednesdays 6 pm | Pastors Class | Rudisill Hall/Zoom

The book is of Joshua is theologically powerful, characterizing the covenant people as eager to obey Yhwh and showing their God as one who is mighty to save. It also espouses appalling support for unbridled militarized violence by Israel against inhabitants of Canaanite territories, which still provides legitimation for the occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel today. Let us journey together to discover what fruits we can harvest from this often disturbing book.
