Church History

In October 2021 the humble beginnings of Redeemed Tabernacle, Apostolic (RTA) were inspired by a Godly vision and the hallmarks of The Lord’s divine intervention and transformation of the life of Senior Pastor, Jermaine L. Hawkins. Having his childhood upbringing rooted in the church, Pastor Hawkins was blessed with an anointed call to begin his journey with The Lord at a very early age. Similarly, his wife, Lady Continia Hawkins began her walk in Christ very young; being baptized at the tender age of seven.

The journey of RTA coming into fruition spans over several years. The calling on Pastor Hawkins’ life led him to fellowship with various churches and serve under several pastoral leaders. However, it was through his ministry and the tutelage under Apostle James B. Thornton that set his path in motion to accept the call of The Lord to broaden the ministry and serve as a Pastoral leader in other areas of the vineyard of God.

After much prayer and fasting, Pastor Hawkins was led to establish the Redeemed Tabernacle, Apostolic and on October 10, 2021, RTA was incorporated. To keep the people of God spiritually engaged, in November 2021, Pastor Hawkins began virtual Sunday Morning Worship and Mid-week Prayer and Bible Study services.

On December 4, 2021, Pastor Hawkins hosted an interest meeting to introduce RTA and share his vision; to change lives through the redemptive power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to establish a congregation that will continue “steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship” (Acts 2:42); serve the needs of the community; partner with other churches and non-profit organizations through outreach initiatives within the community and, most importantly, lead others to Christ.

On February 16, 2022, Pastor Hawkins announced the launch of Redeemed Tabernacle, Apostolic Through divine favor, God blessed Redeemed with its principal worship facility located at Saint Philips Episcopal Church, 730 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, Maryland. On March 13, 2022, RTA held its Grand Opening Service together as a congregation.

Pastor Hawkins and Lady Continia are committed to The Lord and continually seek His wisdom and guidance in serving His people as God continues to show His favor and grow the ministry.
