CASINO RELOCATION PROJECT Redding Rancheria

PRESS RELEASE: THE REDDING RANCHERIA ANNOUNCES THE UNPAUSE OF ITS CASINO RELOCATION PROJECT The Redding Rancheria is happy to announce that the United States Department of the Interior has formally reported in the Federal Register that it is renewing its consideration of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for our I-5 Casino Relocation Project. This is an important step in realizing our dream of a true destination resort in Shasta County. We recognize that it is the people and the natural beauty of our area that make it so special to us all. We will proceed with this project mindful of creating something that does not detract from the beauty and creates economic opportunities for all Shasta County residents.

The DEIS sets forth a myriad of things that the Redding Rancheria will do to mitigate any adverse off-reservation impacts from the development. The Redding Rancheria has already committed, in writing to the Redding City Council, to fully mitigate those impacts stated in the DEIS. We have also formally offered to take specific additional steps to provide assistance on other infrastructure projects, parklands and social programs that will benefit all citizens of Redding and greater Shasta County.

HEAD START & CHILD CARE FIELD TRIP Redding Rancheria

On Friday the students and families of the Redding Rancheria Head Start and Child Care were able to go on their first field trip on the year to Exodus Farms. The children participated in an exciting stick horse rodeo made from pool noodle horses. They were able to groom and brush the mini horses in the round pen.

Children and their parents took a tour of the farm and learned many new things about farm living and how to care for all the horses. Everyone even got to ride a horse! It was a beautiful, fun filled day out on the farm!

Exodus Farms was established in Redding, CA in 2002 by Bob and Ginger Salido. Today, free of charge to all who visit, and completely run by volunteers, Exodus Farms Ministries serves over 150 youth in our community. The purpose at Exodus Farms is to help all who come to move forward in their lives-out of old patterns of brokenness, abuse, loneliness, dependence or fear and into a new place of wholeness, healthy relationships, freedom, community and purpose as they teach horsemanship in a safe homelike environment where they can experience love and peace.

Exodus’ “healing herd” consists of eleven horses and a donkey, all given a permanent home here despite their age, infirmities, behavior issues, physical challenges or just lack of training. Their message to those who visit is life changing, not one of them is perfect, some came to Exodus quite “broken”, but every one of them has a divine purpose here changing lives! COMMUNITY HOPE HERO AWARD Redding Rancheria

Pathways to Hope for Children hosted their first annual Monte Carlo Fundraiser last Friday night. At this event, Pathways to Hope awarded the Community Hope Hero Award to the Redding Rancheria for believing in in others by being there for our community. Pathways to Hope serves our community in a variety of ways, such as outreach, youth development, family support, child abuse prevention education, awareness activities, and much more. We are honored to receive this award and are excited to continue working with Pathways to Hope for Children to prevent child abuse in Shasta County.

ANNETTE HALE Redding Rancheria

We had a farewell party for Annette’s last day. She left for Tennessee. She has been with the Tribe for almost 13 years (a couple weeks shy.) We will miss her and wish her all the best

WILLIE REEVES Redding Rancheria

Willie Reeves has been working here 20 years today! Willie works as the bus driver at the Head start & Child Care and is always willing to jump in and help wherever needed. She loves the kids and the kids love her and her yellow school bus!

HONORED ELDERS’ DINNER Redding Rancheria

We had an amazing time hosting the Honored Elders’ dinner last night as a kick-off to the Redding Rancheria’s Stillwater Pow Wow. The following elders were honored: William Keluchie, JoAnna Turmel, Julia Martinez, Frances Slaughter, and Helene Sisk.

LEADERSHIP REDDING Redding Rancheria

We hosted the History & Culture Session for the Leadership Redding class this morning. Tracy Edwards gave an introduction to the group while Louise Davis showed the class the many baskets the Tribe has on hand and their history.

The class got to take a hike to the Redding Rancheria’s Arbor to learn about our traditional ways.

REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY FUND DINNER Redding Rancheria

Thank you to all who attended the 2021 Redding Rancheria Community Fund Dinner. We had a great time celebrating with you all during that beautiful night. Congratulations to the Shasta County Office of Education and the Golden Age Center for being the 2021 RRCF Award Recipients. Each received a big $5,000 check and a resolution from the Redding Rancheria Tribal Government. We would also like to thank all 60 organizations who received funds in 2020 so we could throw this party in your honor. Under the circumstances our team pulled off and outdoor and indoor event and they are very appreciated!

September was Suicide Awareness Month.

Native Americans experience a higher rate of suicide compared to all other racial and ethnic groups. The Redding Rancheria Tribal Health System answered questions to bring awareness to this health crisis.
