HONORED ELDERS DINNER 2023 REDDING RANCHERIA

We proud to present the 2023 Honored Elders! On Thursday, October 5, we held our annual dinner to recognize elders who have made an impact on the Redding Rancheria and within Indian Country! We celebrated with those who were honored alongside their families. As is Tradition, the first Grand Entry of the Pow Wow is dedicated to these extraordinary spirits. We are honored to recognize the following elders this year. Danita Quinn, Warren Quinn, Suntana Potter, and Myrna Potter. It is through their efforts and dedication that we are able to stand on their shoulders and continue the work they have accomplished! Thank you for everything you do to guide and teach the youth of today!

WIN-FIT COMPETITION REDDING RANCHERIA

Big cheers and heartfelt congratulations to all the wonderful individuals who took part in the Win-Fit Competition! At the heart of the Tribe’s values lies the utmost importance of Employee Health & Wellness. To ensure a harmonious worklife balance, we provide a diverse range of on-site workout sessions. Our Wellness department diligently curates a comprehensive program, catering not only to physical health but also mental well-being. This includes a medley of monthly challenges—both sizable and petite—nutritious snacks throughout the year, and active participation in community running events.

Today, the Redding Rancheria & Win-River Resort & Casino orchestrated an event that wasn’t just a competition but also an opportunity for everyone to engage through a brisk walk. The competitors embarked on a 2-mile trail adorned with four exercise stations strategically placed along the course, designed to test their endurance and agility. A commendable total of 44 individuals participated, and an impressive 25 secured positions in their respective age categories for Redding Rancheria.

The walking segment witnessed an outstanding turnout, with a total of 50 Redding Rancheria employees stepping up. A resounding applause to all who graced the Win River Resort & Casino and partook in this spectacular event! This biannual festivity is cherished by many employees and team members who prioritize Health and Wellness, celebrating their dedication to a healthier lifestyle. Here’s to the camaraderie and success of these wellnessfocused endeavors!

REDDING RANCHERIA’S WELLNESS CONFERENCE 2023 Two splendid days brimming with health and wellness activities and not just one, but two incredible guest speakers! The Redding Rancheria Wellness Conference this year was an extraordinary experience that awakened every sense. A fundamental aspect of our culture revolves around prioritizing individuals over employees. We firmly believe that the health and well-being of our community is not just pivotal to our success, but a fundamental responsibility.

From engaging painting sessions to intricate necklace beading, exhilarating axe throwing, and a multitude of self-care activities including complimentary haircuts, manicures, pedicures, and foot detox sessions—the conference offered a diverse range of experiences. We’re immensely grateful for the collaboration and support from local businesses that contributed to making this event a reality. NOR-CAL THINK PINK 2023 REDDING RANCHERIA The Redding Rancheria stands firmly behind Nor-Cal Think Pink! Throughout October, the Tribal Admin Office and the Win-River Resort & Casino are donning shades of pink. Early detection stands as the best defense. Delightedly, we actively participate in raising awareness about breast cancer and its impacts. Whether it’s sporting pink attire, adorning our windows with vibrant hues, or even painting our lawns in support, we continually seek out ways to contribute to this important cause. We take immense pride in our role in this meaningful endeavor!

NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH REDDING RANCHERIA The inaugural celebration took place in Redding’s vibrant cultural district, boasting an array of festivities including authentic Mexican dances, lively music, and captivating horse performances. The scene was alive with diverse food stalls, clothing stands, and sparkling jewelry vendors. The ambiance resonated with a spirit of tranquility and jubilation! It’s an immense delight for us to have supported this event, sharing in the joyous occasion alongside our fellow indigenous communities. Massive gratitude to Viva Downtown and the dedicated committee for orchestrating such a marvelous celebration.

STILLWATER POW WOW 2023 REDDING RANCHERIA The 2023 Stillwater Pow Wow may have come and gone, and the memories and experiences we made are forever! The dancing and singing provided great medicine to the people and the celebration of being together was a magical time! We are honored to work together with the Redding Rodeo Association to present this epic cultural gathering. We appreciate the support of the head staff and tireless efforts to represent their peoples, dances, and songs. Thank you to Baron Browning with Ardent Security and his support services! He helped keep us cool from the little heat wave we experienced. It truly takes the coming of many people to male this event happen every year! We would not be able to achieve the results we have without your efforts.

We will see you all next year, the first weekend of October.

TRIBAL GAMING COMPACT RATIFIED REDDING RANCHERIA Redding Rancheria Celebrates Ratification of Indian Gaming Compact with the State of California!

Redding Rancheria is thrilled to announce a historic milestone with the successful passage of Assembly Bill 854, authored by Assembly member Ramos. This landmark legislation, which was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Saturday, September 30, 2023, formally ratifies Redding Rancheria’s Indian gaming compact with the state of California.

The bill passed the Assembly floor on a 74-0 vote, with six members absent or not voting at the time of the vote.

The bill passed the Senate floor on a 38-0 vote, with two members absent or not voting at the time of the vote.

This compact will carry Redding Rancheria through the next 25 years of gaming in California. The ratification signifies a momentous achievement in our ongoing commitment to tribal sovereignty and self-governance. This achievement underscores the importance of maintaining strong government-to-government relationships between tribal nations and other government organizations. The agreement between Redding Rancheria and the state government is a testament to the shared vision of promoting economic growth, job creation, and community development.

The compact establishes a solid framework for responsible gaming operations while fostering a fair and mutually beneficial partnership between our tribal nation and the state. It also expressly authorizes class III gaming at the Tribe’s I-5 property, once the federal government puts the land into trust, paving the way for a successful casino relocation project.

TRIBAL GAMING COMPACT RATIFIED REDDING RANCHERIA Tracy Edwards, CEO of Redding Rancheria, “This momentous occasion represents an example of the strength of tribal sovereignty and the effectiveness of government-togovernment negotiations. We are committed to utilizing the opportunities provided by this compact to enhance the well-being of our community members, support local economies, and continue our tradition of responsible gaming operations. As we’ve always said, this community is our home and it is our priority to have a positive impact on everyone that lives here.”

The ratification of this Indian gaming compact will enable Redding Rancheria to further its economic development initiatives, provide essential services to our tribal members, and contribute to the prosperity of the local community through job opportunities and local partnerships. The compact also reaffirms dedication to responsible gaming, ensuring the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency.

The comeback of the Redding Rancheria Head Start Little Big Time is here! We take immense pride in nurturing the minds of our little ones about our rich culture and cherished traditions. Our lifestyle revolves around equilibrium and modesty, essential elements for our community. Preserving our traditions, songs, dances, and our way of life is crucial for us to carry forward.

Isn’t it delightful to admire the appetizing sight of that traditionally cooked salmon? We feel fortunate to persist in this harmonious way of living and extend our support and care to one another!

REDDING RESTART: ADDRESSING MENTAL HEALTH REDDING RANCHERIA TRIBAL HEALTH SYSTEM On October 27, the vibrant Redding Restart event took place at the heart of Dignity Health Connected Living. Glen Hayward, the spirited Executive Director of the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health System, spearheaded the rekindling of discussions concerning homelessness and its underlying causes. This gathering welcomed outstanding panelists: Laura Stapp representing Shasta County Mental Health, and Dr. Thomas Andrews from North American Mental Health Services. Steering the panel with finesse and warmth was our lively MC, Jonathan Anderson from the Good News Rescue Mission.

Together, our collective efforts are poised to illuminate and address the vital mental health needs within our community. Let’s join hands and shed light on these crucial issues to make a positive difference!
