Simpson University Special Guest Speaker & Luncheon Re d d ing Ra nch e ria

At the beginning of March, members of Tribal Council and a handful of Win-River employees had the opportunity to attend an event hosted by Simpson University where inspirational speaker, Brian Shul spoke to our local leaders in the community.

Brian Shul was a fighter pilot for the U.S. Air Force and shared with us his story of survival in a near death experience during the Vietnam War. His message to all of us was to remember that life is short, pursue our passions and dreams today! Redding Rancheria was a proud sponsor, and we appreciate all that Simpson University does for our young students in the community.

Tracy Edwards Message Re d d ing Ra nch e ria Greetings, I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Redding Rancheria employees for accepting the challenge of supporting our community during this trying time.

We are a Tribal Government that provides services to many, and this includes a vital health system comprised of three clinics offering patient care to thousands in Shasta and Trinity Counties. It has been a challenge to keep our employees safe whilst providing to those in need. We will continue to do what we can for as long possible, and keep everyone abreast as we obtain more information from the experts working tirelessly in the field.

I ask that you kindly check in with your loved ones, neighbors, and the elderly. Everyone handles stress differently, and it’s imperative we remember to demonstrate compassion to all during this trying time. We will get through this, I am sure of that.

I would also like to take a moment and commend our health care providers. I commend the sacrifices and risks they are taking in service to others. Thank you.

To all of you, please take care of yourselves. Breath, exercise, engage in self-care, and above all else show kindness to all, as we are all in this together.

How COVID-19 Spreads Re d d ing Ra nch e ria

Person-to-person spread The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

• Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

• Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Can someone spread the virus without being sick?

• People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).

• Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

How easily the virus spreads How easily a virus spreads from person-to-person can vary. Some viruses are highly contagious (spread easily), like measles, while other viruses do not spread as easily. Another factor is whether the spread is sustained, spreading continually without stopping.

The virus that causes COVID-19 seems to be spreading easily and sustainably in the community (“community spread”) in some affected geographic areas.

How to Protect Yourself Re d d ing Ra nch e ria

Know How it Spreads • There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

• The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

• The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

• Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

• Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

• These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Take steps to protect yourself • Clean your hands often • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

• If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Avoid close contact • Avoid close contact with people who are sick • Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Take steps to protect others Stay home if you’re sick • Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. Learn what to do if you are sick.

Cover coughs and sneezes • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

• Throw used tissues in the trash.

• Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Wear a facemask if you are sick • If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. If you are not able to wear a facemask (for example, because it causes trouble breathing), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room. Learn what to do if you are sick.

• If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

Clean and disinfect • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

• If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

To disinfect: Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work. Use disinfectants appropriate for the surface.

Options include: Diluting your household bleach.

To make a bleach solution, mix: • 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water OR • 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Check to ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser.

Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.

• Alcohol solutions.

Ensure solution has at least 70% alcohol.

• Other common EPA-registered household disinfectants.

Products with EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens pdf icon[7 pages]external icon claims are expected to be effective against COVID-19 based on data for harder to kill viruses. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for all cleaning and disinfection products (e.g., concentration, application method and contact time, etc.).

The Redding Rancheria’s committed to working with our local business partners to only order food for business as usual here at the Redding Rancheria. We know supporting local businesses is very important and understand that we all have to work together to get through this. Redding Rancheria Community Fund Dinner Re d d ing Ra nch e ria

Once again, it was an honor to host 71 local organizations who received funds from the Redding Rancheria Community Fund in 2019 on March 7th, 2020. Since the inception of the Redding Rancheria Community Fund, we have donated $3.4 million dollars to Shasta and Trinity Counties. Congratulations to the Shasta Builders Exchange for receiving the RRCF Gift of $10,000. We had a great night of entertainment with the 2020 RRCF Masked Singer.

Thank you to Mr. Jack Potter Jr., Mayor-Melissa Hunt, Mayor-Janice Powell and Michael Burke for volunteering and performing this year. In our eyes you all won! Shout out to Michael Burke who took the trophy home with his spectacular performance. All four performers received $2500 towards nonprofits in their area (Indian Cultural Organization, Anderson P.D., Life Center, and Pathways to Hope.) Thank you to all who performed, volunteered, sponsored, donated and helped make this event possible. We look forward to hosting this event again next year!

Win-River Resort and Casino Update: Re d d ing Ra nch e ria

For the health and safety of our team members, guests, and community we will be temporarily closing effective Tuesday, March 17 at 12 PM. The Redding Rancheria Tribal Government is continually monitoring updates on COVID-19 from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as Local, State, and Federal Governments. Based on current recommendations from these agencies we have decided to suspend operations at Win-River Resort & Casino.

The closure will include Win-River Casino, Hotel, Spa, Elements Restaurant, Overtime, and CreekSide Pub & Grill. In an effort to continue to serve our Tribal and local community our Win-River Mini-Mart will remain open.

We are committed to providing you flexibility in your travels during this time and our hotel team will contact those guests with hotel and spa reservations.

Our commitment to the safety and health of our guests and team members is our top priority. As such, we have adjusted our in store purchase hours to 7am-8pm seven days a week with the gas pumps available 24hrs to purchase fuel with payment of credit or debit. With the recommendations of the CDC and WHO we immediately enacted more rigorous standards for our cleaning procedures and our commitment to your health and safety does not end with these steps. We are here to serve our guests and community during this difficult time.
