FATHER’S DAY

REDDING RANCHERIA

Redding Rancheria Head Start and Childcare is proud to promote family involvement in the children’s educational journey! To celebrate Father’s Day, Head Start invited fathers, father figures, and other parents to the school for a picnic and s’mores. Parent involvement can set students up to develop a lifelong love of learning which can lead to long-term success.

ENCORE NIGHT AT THE CASCADE THEATRE

REDDING RANCHERIA

ENCORE! A Fundraiser for the Cascade Theatre was a night to remember! A magical evening featuring over 70 performers from Cascade Theatre’s past musical and dance performances who returned to Redding for one night only to relive favorite songs and dances including our own Leaha Hernandez and Louis Licon. Directed by James Santos, produced by Tara Faires with music direction by Lizzie Stoxen the evening was a huge success. Redding Rancheria is happy to support our local, historic Cascade Theatre!

CALIFORNIA NATIONS INDIAN GAMING

REDDING RANCHERIA

The California Nations Indian Gaming Association held the June meeting at the Enterprise Rancheria’s Hard Rock Café in Sacramento. Chairman Jack Potter attended the Executive Committee Dinner alongside Assembly Member James Ramos, who is a huge advocate for indigenous issues in the state of California. Chairman Potter is also the Eastern Representative of the CNIGA Board. We are proud to have this representation and appreciate all that the elected officials, like Chairman Potter and Assembly Member Ramos do for Indian Country.

COLT 45’S REDDING RANCHERIA NIGHT

REDDING RANCHERIA

We had a great time supporting and cheering on the Redding Rancheria Colt 45s. The Third Base Club tickets provide an amazing view that cannot be beat! The Colt 45s provide an incredibly fun and entertaining experience. Our CEO, Tracy Edwards excitedly threw the first pitch! Our employees joined in on the fun and made a wave in the crowd! If you haven’t been to a Colt 45 game yet, be sure to do so. It is a great way to support our local community and athletes and it’s a fun summer night out in Redding!

SUMMER SOLSTICE YOGA REDDING RANCHERIA

There is no better way to start the longest day of the year than with a Sunrise Yoga session. On June 21, our Wellness Department held a sunrise yoga session at our different locations. The word “solstice” comes from the Latin word sol meaning “sun” and sistere meaning “to stand still”. Due to the Earth’s tilted axis, the sun does not rise and set at the same locations on the horizon each morning and evening. We are excited to celebrate this long day and we thank the Wellness Department for providing a fun way to celebrate!

WORLD PEACE AND PRAYER DAY

REDDING RANCHERIA

On June 21, we celebrated World Peace and Prayer Day. For this event, Chief Arvol Looking Horse hosts a day of unity and prayer at sacred sites all over the world during the summer solstice. It is meant to recognize religious freedom, caring for Mother Earth, and togetherness and peace amongst people all over the world. This year we were honored that Chief Looking Horse held this ceremony at the Redding Rancheria Arbor and up at Mount Shasta, our sacred area.

REDDING RANCHERIA CELEBRATES PRIDE MONTH REDDING RANCHERIA

June 1st kicks off Pride Month! Redding Rancheria is excited to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community. For those that don’t know, the “2S” stands for Two-Spirt, which are traditional people in Native communities. Native Americans have always recognized and celebrated non-binary, which today, are called Two-Spirit people. Traditionally, many tribes highly regarded Two-Spirit people. They are people that exist outside of the gender binary and were often honored or held sacred positions in their tribes such as naming children, making decisions in time of battle, counseling couples, and many other roles. Many Natives believed that they held additional knowledge because they existed outside of a binary and were therefore closer to the spirit world. The Creator gave them the ability to see the world through the eyes of both genders. Happy Pride month!
