REDDING RANCHERIA TRIBAL FLAG

FLIES PROUDLY ON I-5 REDDING RANCHERIA

In a moment of historical significance, Redding Rancheria proudly raised its Tribal flag at the I-5 property on Thursday, July 25th at 9 AM, marking a milestone in the 20-year journey to obtaining trust status for the land.

This symbolic act celebrates the dedication and perseverance of countless individuals, including the Redding Rancheria Tribal Council, staff, Tribal Members, and allies over the past two decades. It underscores the promising future of Redding Rancheria and Win-River Resort & Casino, committed to serving its community for generations to come.

Tribal Members gathered for a land blessing, accompanied by Pow Wow dancers who performed around the flag during the raising ceremony. Atop the 100-foot pole, the distinctive Redding Rancheria flag fluttered proudly in the wind.

Many are now inquiring about next steps. Several years ago, Redding Rancheria commissioned architectural renderings for the future casino that have been put out to the public. Recent efforts have been focused on securing trust status for the I-5 land and now that this milestone has been achieved, our attention turns to advancing construction planning.

Chairman Jack Potter Jr. commented, “The Tribe will continue to move forward no matter what obstacles get in our way because we are descendants of survivors of genocide. We have a place in today’s society and we are not going anywhere as the original inhabitants of this land.”

P’ELEEN BOOS NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH CAMP

REDDING RANCHERIA TRIBAL HEALTH SYSTEM

Summer is the season where many kids get out of their oral health routines and consume more foods and drinks and this can make it easy to get cavities. Native American children are five times more likely than the general U.S. population to have dental disease. Dental diseases like cavities and gum disease are easily preventable, so it is important to encourage kids to keep a brushing and flossing routine during school breaks and encourage them to drink more water to stay hydrated, healthy and happy.

The Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center graciously provided oral health kits to almost 100 kids who attended the P’eleen Boos Native American Youth Camp, Shasta Union Indian Ed. JOM camp and the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center YMCA Camp. Youth ages 8 through 17 were given toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste and, mouthwash, but most importantly oral health education. An interactive “True or False” game was played in which youth and adults alike learned about common dental misconceptions and truths behind cavities and gum disease. Many were surprised to learn that the bacteria that can cause cavities is contagious and can be passed person to person. Most kids were also grossed out to learn that bleeding and inflamed gums was a sign of early gum disease.

Regular dental care is important to help prevent and treat dental diseases early so make sure you and your children have their dental appointments scheduled.

“True or False” fun

We are able to get patients in same day and next day for appointments for any medication assisted treatment and recovery. We are able to offer counseling and treatment for opioid use disorder, tobacco use disorder, stimulant use disorder, and alcohol use disorder among several other addiction disorders. We are also able to help with offering rides through bus passes if necessary.

We are currently accepting partnership patients along with natives. Our location is Churn Creek healthcare clinic and our fliers are attached. If you have any immediate referrals, our clinic number is as follows: 530-262-6375 ext. 2513.
