DRAMA PRODUCTIONS

DRAMA PRODUCTIONS At Reddam House Schools, the performing arts are a vibrant and essential part of student life, offering exceptional opportunities for students across all year levels to experience the excitement and discipline of musical theatre. Each year, productions are staged in leading professional venues, including the NIDA Parade Theatres, The Concourse in North Sydney, and the Seymour Theatres, allowing students to perform on world-class stages supported by professionally designed sets, props, costumes, and special effects. Families can enjoy the experience knowing that every technical and creative element is expertly managed by industry professionals, while students immerse themselves in the craft of singing, acting, movement, dance, and characterisation within a truly professional production environment.

Our inclusive philosophy ensures that every student who wishes to participate in a musical is welcomed and supported, while rigorous auditions provide meaningful opportunities for those pursuing principal roles and featured dance ensembles. This year, approximately 160 high school students are currently preparing for Stephen Sondheim’s’ Into the Woods’, to be performed at the NIDA Parade Theatres in the final week of term one. These performers represent the strength of the Reddam House performing arts pathway, having developed their skills through continuous exposure to high-quality drama, music, and dance programs across the school. In 2025, Reddam House School proudly presented three major productions, including The Hunchback of Notre Dame in the High School, Cinderella in the Senior Primary, and The Little Mermaid for our younger students. Each production reflected our commitment to excellence, creativity, and student growth. Through these rich performance experiences, Reddam House nurtures confident, expressive, and collaborative young artists, ensuring that every production is not only a spectacular theatrical event but also a meaningful journey of artistic discovery.

THE LITTLE MERMAID Junior School Musical, Term 4 (Kindergarten to Year 2) Our year concluded with the delightful and heartwarming production of The Little Mermaid, performed by our youngest students in Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2. This enchanting story follows Ariel, the curious young mermaid who dreams of exploring the world above the sea, learning valuable lessons about bravery, friendship, and finding one’s voice. Watching our youngest performers take to the stage is always a truly special experience. From colourful sea creatures to lively musical numbers, the stage was filled with energy, excitement, and pure joy. For many of these students, this was their very first experience performing in a large-scale production, and they approached it with courage and enthusiasm. At this early stage of their education, participation in musical theatre lays an invaluable foundation. Students learn to project their voices, follow choreography, listen carefully, and work as part of a team. They discover that preparation and practice lead to confidence. Most importantly, they experience the magic of storytelling and the pride of stepping onto a professional stage. The Little Mermaid was a celebration of imagination, growth, and the extraordinary potential that begins to flourish from the very first performance.

CINDERELLA Primary School Musical, Term 3 (Years 3 to 6) Our Term 3 production of Cinderella showcased the remarkable talent of our primary students in Years 3-6. This classic fairytale tells the story of kindness, perseverance, and the belief that dreams can come true. With its charming characters, elegant ballroom scenes, and uplifting musical moments, Cinderella offered our students the perfect canvas on which to shine. From the earliest rehearsals, the dedication and enthusiasm of this cast were evident. Every role was embraced with imagination and commitment. Our leads brought warmth and depth to their characters, our dancers worked tirelessly to refine their choreography, and our ensemble created a lively and enchanting world on stage. The professionalism demonstrated by our backstage and costume teams ensured the performance flowed seamlessly, reflecting the highest production standards. For our primary students, this experience is transformative. Through rehearsals and performances, they develop confidence, articulation, stage presence, and the ability to work collaboratively toward a shared goal. They learn the discipline required to perfect a scene and the joy of collective achievement. Cinderella was not only a magical production but a powerful learning journey, building skills that extend far beyond the stage.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME Senior School Musical, Term 1 (Years 7 to 12) Our 2025 season opened with the powerful and moving production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, presented by our senior students in Years 7-12. Set against the grandeur of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, this timeless story follows Quasimodo, the misunderstood bell-ringer, as he navigates friendship, courage, and the longing to belong. With sweeping choral arrangements, dramatic storytelling, and deeply layered characters, this production demanded maturity, emotional depth, and exceptional musical skill. From the very first rehearsal, it was clear that this cast was ready to embrace the scale and complexity of this remarkable work. The students rose to the challenge of sophisticated harmonies, intricate staging, and emotionally charged scenes, delivering a performance of striking professionalism. Each principal role was portrayed with nuance and conviction, while the ensemble created a rich and atmospheric theatrical world. Beyond the applause, what makes this production so meaningful is the transformation we witness in our students. Senior performers refine their craft at a level that mirrors professional theatre standards. They develop resilience, leadership, collaboration, and artistic discipline. Working alongside a dedicated production and technical team, they experience the responsibility and exhilaration of bringing a large-scale musical to life. It is theatre at its most inspiring, and an unforgettable milestone in their school journey.

ALADDIN Cross-Campus Musical, Term 2 (Years 3 to 10) In Term 2, we brought the magic of Agrabah to life with Aladdin, a vibrant and high-energy production that united students from Years 3 - 10 across our campuses. This beloved story follows the adventurous Aladdin, the spirited Princess Jasmine, and the ever-entertaining Genie on a journey of courage, self-discovery, and the power of believing in oneself. From dazzling musical numbers to dynamic dance sequences, this production sparkled with colour, humour, and heart. The cast embraced the joy and spectacle of the show, filling the stage with enthusiasm and charisma. Younger performers gained confidence performing alongside older students, while senior students demonstrated leadership and mentorship within the ensemble. What made this production particularly special was its spirit of collaboration. Students across age groups worked together, learning not only stagecraft but also teamwork, responsibility, and mutual respect. They experienced the thrill of performing with professional lighting, sound, costumes, staging and special effects, understanding what it means to contribute to a production of true theatrical polish. Aladdin was not only an entertaining spectacle but a celebration of community, creativity, and growth.
