Good evening and thank you for joining us to celebrate and support the mission of the American Red Cross.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, volunteers and staff of the American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter, it is our honor and pleasure to welcome you to our 2023 Red & White Ball: A Salute to Service and Valor. We extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to our Ball Co-Chairs, Connie Anne Harris and Lauren E. Walsh, who, along with the entire Ball committee, made this night possible.
With a spotlight on our organization’s longstanding commitment to servicemembers which dates to the Civil War when American Red Cross founder Clara Barton first assisted wounded soldiers on the battlefield—tonight’s event is a celebration of this legacy, our humanitarian mission and those who make this work possible.
Our esteemed honorees tonight all embody the noble principles of duty and service, an ethos shared by our volunteers who carry out our lifesaving and lifechanging work each day and those who provide the funds that allow us to keep helping.
To our Exceptional Service Honoree General Eric M. Smith, our Humanitarian Honoree Pam Farr and our Corporate Leadership Honoree Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, we say THANK YOU for your service and for the example you set for all of us.
A sincere and gracious thank you to all who are part of this night from our underwriters and sponsors, journal advertisers, auction donors and those who purchased tickets and tables, to the teams of vendors, volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly over the past nine months to bring tonight’s event to reality.
In the room tonight are some incredible community partners, elected officials, friends and supporters. Together, you work alongside us and have done so for decades. We offer our deepest gratitude for your support, and we are honored to celebrate with you. Each one of you plays a significant role in supporting the mission of the American Red Cross, alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. From responding to home fires, to assisting our military, to deploying to large disasters near and far, trained dedicated Red Crossers are available 24/7/365 to help our neighbors at their greatest time of need. Together we bring comfort and provide financial assistance and mental health support when it is needed most.
Thank you, again, for joining us and we wish you a fun and inspiring evening.

The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) has been serving franchised new car dealers in the New York metro area for more than a century.
From its earliest days in Brooklyn, the Association has proudly served lower New York’s dealers and their employees. The Association’s dealers have historically been part of the industry’s greatest advances and they’ve passed down their knowledge to their children and grandchildren, who often run those same dealerships today.
The Association has a collection of Allied Members who support every aspect of the automobile industry. Together, association members are a powerful economic force, providing thousands of jobs, paying millions in tax revenue and donating to hundreds of charities.
The auto industry is dynamic and constantly evolving, and GNYADA is evolving with it. The Lincoln Technical Institute program at the Association’s Center for Automotive Education & Training helps prepare enrollees for careers in the automotive industry. These young people continue to impress organizational leaders with their vitality, commitment and ideas for the future.
In addition to efforts to recruit new talent into the industry, the Association serves as a model for trade associations across the nation. GNYADA strives to develop and maintain programs that enable its members to succeed in the ever-changing automotive retail market.

I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the American Red Cross Red & White Ball honoring local heroes who have worked tirelessly in service of others. The American Red Cross has been a tremendous community partner in the 36th Senatorial District, providing critical support during times of crisis and helping to build a stronger, more resilient community. I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible work the American Red Cross has done to assist those in need and the lasting impact they have made on the lives of countless individuals in our community.
Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication and commitment the American Red Cross demonstrates in helping families and communities recover and build resilience in the face of tragedy. Whether it's responding to disasters, providing vital blood services, leading preparedness training, or supporting military families, the organization has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to lifting up those in need and have always gone above and beyond to ensure that our community is supported. The Red Cross has been a lifeline for families and individuals affected by disasters, such as house fires, floods, and other emergencies and their assistance with essential services including shelter, food, and mental health services has ensured our families emerge whole in times of crisis.
I would also like to extend my congratulations to the honorees of this year's event, Pam Farr, Greater NY Automobile Dealers Association, and General Eric M. The American Red Cross has organized tonight’s event, The Red & White Ball: A Night Under the Stars, to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to serve their communities and raise funds to further the important work of the American Red Cross in our area. I write to extend my congratulations to this evening’s honorees – Pam Farr, General Eric E. Smith, and the Greater NY Automobile Dealers Association.

The Greater NY Automobile Dealers Association, which serves franchised car dealers in the New York metropolitan area and supports those affected by disaster, is being recognized for their corporate leadership. Congratulations to you all, and thank you for your service!

Dear Friends of The American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter,
On behalf of the New York State Assembly, I am delighted to honor The American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter on the occasion of its 2023 Red & White Ball.
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies, by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Headquartered in New York City, the Greater New York Region chapter serves over 12 million people in New York City, on Long Island, in Rockland and Westchester counties and in Greenwich, Connecticut. The organization has done a great job of responding to approximately seven emergencies and disasters a day across the region, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support at no cost to those in need.
The work of extraordinary members of the community, as well as local organizations, provide essential support that allows The American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter to uphold its mission. Therefore, in celebration of their commitment to honor heroes in the community who rise above tremendous obstacles to help others, it is my great pleasure to recognize this year’s honorees, Pam Farr, who is receiving the Humanitarian Award, Greater NY Automobile Dealers Association, which is receiving the Corporate Leadership Award, and General Eric M. Smith, 36th Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, who is receiving the Exceptional Service Award
Thanks to The American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter, and all its supporters, for your tireless efforts on behalf of our community. I wish you all continued success.
Sincerely,
Amy R. Paulin Member of AssemblyThe American Red Cross fulfills a vital role in the town of Greenwich, each and every day. It prevents and alleviates suffering in the face of disaster, and it's a true reflection of the humanitarian and volunteer spirit of the American people.
I am proud to support the American Red Cross and to acknowledge the hard work the Red & White Ball chairs - Connie Anne Harris and Lauren Walsh and their incredible committee that has pulled this vital fundraiser together for us tonight. I salute the efforts of the Board of Directors, led by Lisa Cooper and CEO Stephanie Dunn Ashley for keeping the mission, vision and values of the Red Cross in the forefront of their efforts. I congratulate all three honorees receiving awards this evening; General Eric M. Smith, USMC, Greenwich resident and philanthropist, Pam Farr; and the Greater New York Auto Dealers Association, as your support and work proves the length and service of the Red Cross.
Congratulations on 142 years of serving the American people with volunteers and staff that come out in the worst of times and lend that vital support to those in need. When a disaster strikes, when somebody needs lifesaving blood, when military families need to connect with their loved ones, or when you are providing critical CPR, aquatics and first aid training, the Red Cross is there for us.
Thank you for your dedication to all of us,
