REDARC wins multiple 2019 Australian Auto Aftermarket Awards REDARC was honoured to receive three awards, including Gold for Excellence in Manufacturing (over $10 million annual turnover), at the bi-annual Australian Auto Aftermarket Awards.

The awards were held on the 4th April in Melbourne and were attended by an audience of over 850 people, who also formed a large part of the AAA Expo itself.

The expo is the nation’s most comprehensive exhibition of vehicle repair and servicing equipment, replacement parts, tools and accessories. It is a trade-only show, run by the industry for the industry.

The awards recognise outstanding achievers in the Australian automotive aftermarket industry, with nominees demonstrating an unrelenting focus on excellence, innovation and education to secure ongoing success for the aftermarket industry in Australia.

This was an incredible achievement for REDARC, as it is the third consecutive time we have won the Excellence in Manufacturing Award, having also been named winners at the 2015 and 2017 events.

The other awards won by REDARC were Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product (4WD) for our 50 amp DC-DC In-vehicle Battery Charger (BCDC1250D) and Bronze for Excellence in Export.

Managing Director, Anthony Kittel said he was delighted to win multiple awards and attributed them to REDARC’s continual innovation and hard‑working staff.

“We take great pride in receiving this award for the third consecutive time, it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication which is embraced by all departments at REDARC. It is a true reflection of our efforts to achieve excellence in all facets of the organisation.”

The Excellence in Manufacturing Award recognises an organisation that has invested in research, embraced innovation and predicted future trends to develop a competitive advantage through continuous manufacturing improvement.

The Most Innovative New Aftermarket Product (4WD) recognises excellence and innovation to any new electrical 4WD product for the interior or exterior of a 4WD vehicle.

The Excellence in Export Award recognises an organisation that has researched, identified and cultivated new markets outside of Australia, resulting in a growth in their customer base and increased sales.

REDARC deliver thermal signature solution to the Australian Army The Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery has progressively introduced new Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) into service over the past 10 years. The PGM known as SMArt155 (anti-armour modular artillery projectile) uses Infrared and radar sensors to target operational armoured vehicles and discount non-operational vehicles.

For the Army to effectively test SMArt155 in an operational training environment, targets (that mimic an operational armoured vehicle) require a realistic thermal vehicle signature.

Thermal signatures are typically costly to build, using complex high-voltage heat mats and large generators.

The Australian Army had not practiced firing SMArt155 under an operational training environment, until March 2019, when during Exercise Chimera at Shoalwater Bay Training Area, they successfully engaged practice targets using the REDARC Thermal Signature Enhancement Kit (RTSEK).

Developed by REDARC in conjunction with IntelliParticle and Form Cut, RTSEK

presented a sustainable, effective approach to establishing realistic thermal vehicle signatures.

Defence Account Manager for REDARC, Mike Hartas was pleased with the results that the team in partnership with the Army was able to deliver.

“Collaborating with Australian SME’s, who by being local, enabled us to deliver an innovative, value for money solution to the ADF in a short time frame. We are now exploring opportunities to take this technology further,” said Mike.

Export update

RETTmobil REDARC presented a range of products at the RETTmobil trade fair in Fulda, Germany, May 15th-17th, which was said to attract 530 exhibitors from 20 countries and over 28,000 visitors.

RETTmobil is the leading European trade show for rescue and mobility, it is a global forum for innovation, safety, quality, competence and training.

Speaking of REDARC’s attendance at the event, Export Manager Craig Herriot said, “RETTmobil is an excellent opportunity to present REDARC’s products to manufacturers of ambulance, emergency and rescue vehicles. Our products are perfectly suited to these applications and offer reliable portable power for vehicles that operate in critical situations.”

“We are seeing vehicle customisers in these markets having problems relating to charging an auxiliary battery bank, our products help overcome this problem by offering a unique auxiliary battery charging solution,” he said.

Brisbane Truck Show

REDARC was also at Overland Expo WEST in Flagstaff, Arizona last month.

The team exhibited at the bi-annual Brisbane Truck Show, which is organised by the Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) and attracted over 35,000 visitors.

We presented the Tow-Pro Elite, DC-DC Battery Chargers, the BCDC1225D and BCDC1240D, and our selection of Smart Start SBI dual battery isolators and voltage gauges. We featured the Manager30 battery management system which was introduced to the North American market earlier this year.

The Expo is the premier overlanding event in the world with classes taught by worldleading experts in the field.

REDARC’s roots have stemmed from having strong relationships with truck, trailer and bus manufacturer’s including Kenworth, Volvo, Iveco, DAF, Scania, Mercedes, MAN and UD which means that REDARC is always engaged with evolving technology in the heavy vehicle industry.

This is the third year REDARC has attended the Overland Expos in the United States and they always prove to be an invaluable way to educate customers on our product range, as well as overlanding which has become increasingly popular over the last several years.

Hummingbird release new inclinometer Hummingbird Electronics have released the latest addition to their inclinometer range, the Integrated Compact Inclinometer (HMDS0400). It is a simple device that enables machinery operators to monitor both pitch and roll of their machines.

The Integrated Compact Inclinometer allows for flexible and cost-effective installations.

It is powered by simply plugging into a cigarette lighter socket or directly hard wiring to machine power. The full colour display can be positioned in a range of orientations,

allowing it to be customised to suit individual needs and by incorporating an integrated accelerometer into the compact colour display, it removes the need for an externallymounted sensor.

The easy-to-follow menu provides a simple interpretation of pitch and roll angles in degrees or percent gradients. It also features configurable warning and alarm levels that are linked to an internal buzzer that will alert an operator if a dangerous pre‑determined angle has been reached.

New SmartCharge accessories We have released a range of accessories for our 12V SmartCharge AC Battery Charger range by DEFA. Recharging your batteries has never been easier thanks to a new 12 volt charging kit and two 12 volt charging cables.

The 12V Charging Kit (#SBC12ACC1-4) is a charging cable with ring terminals that includes a socket for permanent mounting to a battery, ultimately saving the user the hassle of accessing the battery in hard to reach locations. The cable can also charge and power electrical devices like mobile phones, sound systems and fridges via its socket.

The 12V Charging Cable with Ring Terminals (#SBC12ACC1-5) allows the user to permanently mount the ring terminals on a battery. It is ideally used on applications such as motorbikes, ATV’s, scooters, jet-skis and lawn mowers.

The 12V Charging Cable with Clamps (#SBC12ACC1-6) allows the user to permanently mount cables to a battery and is ideal for monitoring and charging batteries in showroom vehicles, fleets and other vehicles that remain unused for long periods of time.

All three accessories feature a battery status indicator, which shows the battery charge level in real time via a coloured status indicator. The battery indicator shows the

REDARC Virtual Product Tours REDARC have finalised a new product education tool using our branded Toyota Hiluxes that showcase the purpose and interconnectivity of our products.

REDARC have also released an Encapsulated Power Diode (EPDK-001).

It is rated at 7 Amps for both 12 and 24V applications. It is totally encapsulated with sealed connections.

The EPDK-001 has been designed to fit in the Trailer Stop Lamp feed to support the installation of the Tow-Pro Electric Brake Controller on vehicles where ‘back-feed’ of 12V (during Tow-Pro Manual Override) may interfere with the vehicle systems. When installed correctly, the EPDK-001 ensures correct Trailer braking and Stop Lamp operation when the vehicle brakes or the Tow-Pro Manual Override is used.

RedVision... giving customers control The launch of RedVision to the aftermarket allows customers to take full control of their device inputs, output channels, display settings and control logic using the RedVision configurator app.

This means that customers: • have the ability to change the interface of their system to add capabilities to their camper, caravan or motorhome • have the ability to rename and label their control buttons • are able to revert back to factory settings in the event a mistake is made

The configuration app adds value to the customer’s experience and provides controlled independence in the look and feel of their system.

We have developed a video on this configuration process which we recommend customers watch prior to making any changes.

A reminder to our valued installers REDARC Electronics has issued a product safety recall for certain serial numbers of the Tow-Pro Elite V2 (EBRH‑ACCV2) electric trailer brake controller purchased between 1st September 2018 and 21st January 2019.

As a result of this recall, you may be contacted by a number of your customers regarding potential affected Tow-Pro units.

If you have a new unit in stock that is within the affected range, you can return the unit to your distributor for a free replacement to the next generation Tow‑Pro Elite EBRH-ACCV3.

If an owner finds they have a unit that is affected, they are being advised to contact REDARC who will coordinate a free replacement of the main control unit.

Subsequently, REDARC may contact you to organise for a customer to come to you in order to have the replacement completed, we seek your assistance to carry out this work. The replacement entails the changeover of the main control unit only.

REDARC will provide a sum of $50 inc GST for each unit that needs to be changed over, as well as provide the main control unit required for the replacement.

In the instance of a customer contacting you regarding the recall you can: • Check the serial number as per our instructions on our website redarc. com.au/recall-notice.

• If the unit is not within the serial number range, then there is no concern for your customer’s installation and they can continue using their Tow-Pro Elite V2.

• If the unit is within the affected range, then you can organise with the customer to undertake the changeover at your earliest convenience.

• Full instructions on how to carry out the replacement can be found at redarc.com.au/recall-instructions Please note that as part of the recall process we do need to accurately track the serial numbers of the main control units affected against the replacement main control unit to report to the regulatory authority. Invoices cannot be paid until we can verify that we have received the affected main control unit back to our stores.

Since the completion of our expansion in November 2018, there is certainly a lot more to talk about.

Pat shares his love for 4WD experiences and the beautiful, yet often extreme, nature of Australia’s landscapes. He mentions in the video that he has been using REDARC products for more than a decade, saying, “To explore these places confidently, you need equipment you can rely on.”

He joined us in March 2019 as a Customer Service Technician. As a qualified Auto Electrician, Haydn will lean on his background, bringing 10 years of electronics knowledge, including truck and marine, to help REDARC customers.
