COMMUNITY ROOM RENTAL
The community rooms at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center and Canfield Community Center are available for public rental. Perfect for bridal and baby showers, graduation parties, anniversaries, birthdays, group meetings, etc. The cost is a $60.00 set up fee plus: Parquet Rooms $50.00 per/hr residents $55.00 per/hr non-residents Kitchen Access $25.00 for the rental We are currently taking reservations for Canfield Community Center. Rentals will begin for Richard A. Young after the completion of the renovation of the kitchen & meeting room. Bowling starts at 6:30 p.m. Children ages 4-17 may participate and if mother can’t come, maybe grandma, an aunt, or big sister can. If you have more than one child, great! Bring them all!!! Bowl two games (scotch doubles format) and receive punch and cookies, a special gift and lots of fun for mother and child. Prizes awarded by draw. Cost is $17.00 per couple for residents and $20.00 per couple for non-residents and $8.00 for each additional child. Registration and tickets are available now at the Richard A. 2022 TENNIS LESSONS DRD SWIM CLUB
The Dearborn/Dearborn Heights Recreation Dolphins (DRD) Swim Club is a competitive swim program for boys and girls of elementary, middle school and high school ages. The primary purpose of the program is to develop the skills of swimmers for advancement through different levels of swimming competition sponsored by Michigan Swimming and USA Swimming. Practices are held Monday through Friday. Practices are held at Dearborn High School and Smith Middle School in Dearborn during the school year. Practices are held outside at Dunworth Pool located in Levagood Park in Dearborn during the summer. Each class is 55 minutes in length will meet Mon.-Thurs. for 2 wks. Students will be grouped according to age. The instructor ratio will be 1 to 12 students, whenever possible. Sessions will be held at Don Zielinski Tennis Courts. Fridays will be declared a make-up day in case of inclement weather. Cost is $40.00 per resident, $45.00 per non-resident. Class level and times may change based on instructor availability.
ADULT/CHILD LEAGUES
This league is for youth ages 6-18 and adults. (1 adult – 3 youth or 2 adults – 2 youth) and this begins in June. Program includes pizza or sandwich each week for each bowler, 3 games of bowling, free use of house balls and shoes, recorded averages and end of season party. For price and dates call 292-1700.

2022 SUMMER RECREATION PROGRAM
DEARBORN HEIGHTS KIDS KLUB SUMMER DAY CAMP
Youth ages 6 - 12 can participate in this exciting summer program. The program runs weekly June 20th - August 19, 2022. Instructor and aide ratio will be 1 to every 12 children. Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Participants are required to bring a sack lunch and 1 drink and 2 snacks (drinks for snack time will be provided). Program will include field trips twice a week, arts & crafts, sports, games, movies, etc. A program schedule will be available in June. Pre-registration and advance payment is required before each week begins. Class size is limited, first come, first serve. The cost for the Day Camp is $120.00 per week for residents, $130.00 per week for non-residents. You must also purchase a tee shirt for $7.00 for field trips. The program will be held at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center. Before and After Care Program A Before Care and After Care Program will be held for the participants registered for the Summer Day Camp. Toys, games and activities will be provided. It will be available from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center. Fees are $15.00 per week for before care and $15.00 per week for after care. The weekly cost for both time blocks in $25.00. The daily rate is $5.00 per hour. Advance registration is required and late fees will be assessed if your child is picked up after 5:30 p.m.

The Dearborn Heights Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring the 2022 Summer Recreation Program beginning Monday, June 20, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Anyone grades 1st through 5th can participate. The program will meet Monday through Friday ending August 12, 2022. Central Park will be supervised by college students for the summer. The program will be held outdoors and is limited to 60 participants. Participants are able to attend all five days. The program will consist of special events such as: Putt-Putt Golf, Bowling, Rollerskating, Swimming, Carnivals, Parties and Picnics. Daily activities will include arts & crafts, organized games, sports, drama activities, etc... Transportation is not provided for trips. The fee is $275.00 per Dearborn Heights resident individual and $175.00 per each additional child. It is $300.00 per non-resident. Registration for Dearborn Heights Residents is happening now and non-residents can register after May 12, 2022. Space is limited so it is first come, first serve. Residency is defined as living in zipcodes 48125 and 48127. Picture ID with your current address is required. Also, you need to present a current report card for the child/ren you are registering. Additional fees will be charged for special activities. Register at the Canfield Community Center and the Richard A. Young Recreation Center. Checks made payable to the City of Dearborn Heights.

The gymnasium at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center is open to anyone wishing to get in an extra mile or two. Program hours are every Monday thru Friday from 7:00 8:30 a.m. There is no charge.
Leisure Programs FROM THE DIRECTOR...
I am so excited for the months to come, and yet, we have had some big accomplishments occur this last fall and winter. Several of the projects at our City parks and our recreational facitilities have been completed. We are also celebrating the passing of our Parks & Recreation 5 Year Plan by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). We are now able to officially apply for grants such as the Federal Land & Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF), among others. Along with preparing to apply for funding for our parks, we have planned many more community events for you and your family to participate in and enjoy! Tell your neighbors about the wonderful concerts in the park that we have scheduled this summer at the Warren Valley Golf Course. Better yet, plan a night out with them and your family. We have bands like Parrots of Carribean, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band, Phoenix Theory, and Fifty Amp Fuse to name a few. Each concert night will have lots of free activities for kids and some speciality items included, so stay tuned! We are also on schedule to open the summer with our Spirit Festival, with entertainment unlike we have never had before. We will be joined by The Magic Bus, Bassam Saleh and his Band, Steve King & the Dittlies, and Denise & the Motor City Sensations. The festival will have amusement park rides, elephant ears, face painting and more! Definitely, last but not least, check out our Summer Movie in the Park Program at Swapka Park, the schedule is inside this brochure. As you can see, we have a little something for everyone. Learn karate and self-defense in a class that is held year round. Master Gordon Schollenberger, an accomplished fourth degree black belt, will teach you how to defend yourself in case of need. The class meets every Tuesday and Friday evening from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Young Recreation Center. Men, women, and children are encouraged to participate. Children must be at least 8 years old. Cost is $25.00 per month for residents and $30.00 per month for non-residents. You can join anytime.

Interested in low-cost soccer in the City of Dearborn Heights, the Dearborn Heights Soccer Club has come up with a plan for 1 to 2 days of activities for kids ages 5 through 8 years of age. An Academy style training working one day on the technical training a week and one day of games. Cost will include a jersey and some form of medal at the end for their 8 weeks.
