Fall Carnival

Calling all goblins, ghouls, princesses, and pirates of all ages! There will be carnival games, a maze, hayrides, spooky stories, a pumpkin patch, and tons of candy!

Instructors: Fred Fagan & Nancy Smith Ages 16+. The waltz was first danced in the royal courts of Europe during the Renaissance. Today it is danced all over the world. The waltz is easy to learn with a simple 1-2-3 count. In this class, you will learn several patterns that will let you glide all around the dance floor with your dance partner.

You will be able to dance the waltz for weddings and many other occasions to music such as The Beautiful Tennessee Waltz. This class is for Newcomers to Waltz.

Danced to the solid 4 count music with a strong beat, dancers quickly learn the basic step and move on to learn Opening Up with the Lady, the Lady's Underarm Turn, the Gentleman’s Underarm Pass, the Gentleman’s Behind the Back Pass, and other fun patterns. In this class you will learn several patterns that let you swing to music such as the Beach Boys and the Village People (YMCA). This class is for Newcomers to 4 Count Swing dancing.

Instructor: Kathy Dee Beginner Level: This class centers on developing fundamental leading and following abilities and fostering a strong connection between partners.

Students will learn basic steps such as the 8-count basic, parada, ochos, and more. It's a progressive course that continues each month and welcomes new students. Lessons are rooted in the authentic tango style of Buenos Aires. Intermediate Level: Designed for those with at least one year of tango experience, this class advances into more intricate steps and detailed techniques. Instructor: Bryce Harrop Ages 13+. Naginata is a Japanese martial art that demonstrates both power and grace. It is characterized by the grandeur of the sweeping movements of the Naginata. Party Bridge

Come play a great game of pool during building hours! We provide two professional-size pool tables, as well as balls, cues, and chalk for your convenience.

Richland Fire Department will provide instruction in a 45-minute session on simple but effective CPR and AED techniques that people can use to help save lives. Ninety percent of cardiac arrest victims die before reaching a hospital or medical facility.

Effective CPR provided in the first minutes can increase survival by two to three times. Youths ages 8–15 must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Richland Youth Basketball

Richland youth basketball is for boys and girls entering grades 1st – 6th in the 2024-2025 school year.

Richland Recreation Youth Basketball Program’s Mission is to provide the community's children with a fun opportunity to learn and appreciate the game of basketball through active participation in practice and games.

Practice will occur once a week beginning the week of January 13 for teams that have approved coaches. Games are on Saturdays and should start on January 25. Practices will occur on weekday evenings at Richland School District elementary school gyms, typically at the players' school or a nearby school. COLUMBIA POINT GOLF COURSE

Columbia Point Golf Course is an upscale, daily-fee facility built and owned by the City of Richland.

It is a challenging course for all levels of golfers and is located on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains adjacent to the Columbia River. It boasts a variety of tee boxes and measures 6,571 yards from the Championship tees.

This James J. Engh design features mounded, rolling fairways and large, undulating greens. The parkland-style course opened in 1997. Columbia Point has a fully stocked golf shop, cafe, covered patio, and driving range complete with extra amenities, including men's and ladies' lockers available for daily use. The clubhouse matches the nature beauty, of course, at Columbia Point. The covered patio with a panoramic view of the front nine complements the spacious golf shop and indoor cafe seating.

Activities or Events by Private Organizations *This activity is offered and organized by a private organization. The City is not responsible for facilitating or staffing this activity, nor does it collect or administer participation fees.

Class Refund Policy The City reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, relocate, or combine activities as needed. If Parks and Recreation cancels an activity, participants will be notified, and a full refund will automatically be issued. A participant-initiated refund for classes and activities must be requested at least three (3) business days before the start date and will not be issued for any value less than $5. Participant-initiated refunds will be assessed a $5 processing fee per class/activity for each person involved. Refunds take approximately 14 days to process. Refunds for VISA and MasterCard transactions will be credited to the same card used in the original transaction.

Outdoor Facility The city cannot predict the weather or other environmental conditions such as insects, wildlife, uneven terrain, wet grass and puddles, dirt, dust, noise from other park users, or other unpredictable, unknown, or natural factors that occur in a public park. The city will use its best effort to provide the facility at an acceptable level of service consistent with that provided to all park users.

Outdoor Cancellation Policy All event cancellations must be made in writing.

Cancellations made 14+ days before the event date receive a full refund of the agreed hourly rental fee.

Cancellations made 7–13 days before the event date receive 50% of the agreed hourly rental fee. Cancellations made 0-6 days before the event date receive no refund of the agreed hourly rental fees. Damage deposit refunded in full if canceled before the event. The administration fee is non-refundable (admin fee only pertains to Special Event Agreements).

Statement of Non-Discrimination The City does not discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, color, race, creed, national origin, age, marital status, or any sensory, mental or physical handicap in providing services, programs, or activities. Participants shall not be refused services due to their gender identity or gender expression. Sports Concussions and Head Injuries A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury—or TBI— caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, creating chemical changes in the brain and sometimes stretching and damaging brain cells. Medical providers may describe a concussion as a “mild” brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, the effects of a concussion can be serious. Richland Resident (R) /Non-Resident Policy (N) The City recognizes that the primary purpose of Parks and Recreation is to provide for the recreational needs of Richland residents. People living within Richland’s city limits support the City’s parks and recreation services through taxes. People residing outside the city limits are welcomed and encouraged to enjoy City-sponsored events and programs at a non-resident rate.

Photo Release Photographs of participants may be taken for promotional purposes. Please notify the staff or the photographer if you wish to avoid having your photo taken.

NOTICE UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), the City of Richland will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.

Employment: The City of Richland does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission under Title I of the ADA. The City of Richland will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modifications of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.

The City Attorney’s Office has been designated to ensure the coordination of the City’s compliance with the ADA, including investigation of any complaint alleging title II discrimination. The City of Richland has a grievance procedure providing for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in violation of the U.S. Department of Justice regulations implementing Title II of the ADA. This procedure has been developed to comply with 28 CFR 35.107(b) and can found in Chapter 2.11 RMC.
