All Camps operate Monday-Friday: 7:00 am-6:00 pm Camp Drop Off: 7:00-9:00 am Camp Pickup: 4:00-6:00 pm

AGE & COST:

6-12 years 5 years old may attend camp if they have completed kindergarten $135 per participant per week $108 per participant for week 3 (All Camps Closed Friday, July 4) $19 Camp Swim option (Walkersville camp site only)

REGISTRATION:

Parents have the option of registering one week at a time or registering for multiple/all weeks at once.

A $20 deposit per camper, per week will hold your child’s space.

Balance of registration fees must be paid-in-full by 4 pm, Monday, June 9. If payment is not received by the required deadline, your deposit is forfeited and your child’s participation is cancelled.

Registrations made after June 9 must be paid-in-full at the time of registration.

CAMP INFORMATION:

Lunch: Campers need to bring their own lunch and beverage to camp every day.

Refrigeration is not available. Small coolers and ice packs are highly recommended.

Dress: Children are encouraged to dress comfortably in old clothing and sneakers. Please do not send your child to camp in open-toed shoes or sandals.

Health Forms 2: It is imperative that your child’s Camp Health Form and Medication Form (if needed) be completed prior to the start of camp. Please complete these form(s) and bring them with you on the first day of camp. These form(s) can be downloaded at www.recreater.com Personal Belongings: Clearly mark all personal belongings (sunscreen, towels, lunches, backpacks, etc.) with the camper’s first and last name. Please do not send valuables along with your child, including video games and Nintendo DS’s.

The camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

First Day Newsletter: On the first day of each camp session, your child will receive a newsletter containing specific information regarding daily activities for that week of camp. Please refer to the newsletter before coming to camp each day.

Camp Swim (Walkersville camp site only): Sign your camper up for swimming at Walkersville Swimming Pool while attending summer camp. Counselors will walk campers to and from the pool where they will learn water safety and swim techniques, play water games, and have free swim time. The swim program is managed and supervised by trained FCPS staff.

o you enjoy getting your feet wet exploring streams searching for crayfish, salamanders and frogs? Come and join us at Catoctin Creek Park for a summer filled with outdoor adventures.

Choose from one or more of our nine camp sessions. Each week will include a weekly focus as well as the following core activities: creek walks, nature hikes, team building games, and archery practice. Please note activities are subject to change due to heat advisories and unsafe weather conditions.

For an additional $30, campers will be safely transported to and from Catoctin Creek Nature Center for camp. Parks and Recreation Shuttle Van will leave daily from Rose Hill Manor at 7:30 am and return at 5:00 pm. Transportation is limited to 10 participants.

Water makes the world work and you can see that when you look to the sky. Let’s explore the science and magic that makes weather happen. We will play games, make crafts, and visit Glade Creek to get a close up view of organisms that depend on water to live.

This camp is for the junior zoologist who doesn’t mind getting down and dirty!

Activities will include scavenger hunts, setting mud traps, mini-hikes, a study of the quarry pond and lots of water games.

AEROSPACE ENGINEERING CAMP

Students will learn songs and dances from many island regions including the Caribbean, Polynesian, and Hawaiian Islands. Campers will sing songs about island life, play on world and steel pan drums, and create crafts to decorate our performance space. ELECTRONIC GAME DESIGN

During the Electronic Game Design: Platform classes, students will use Multimedia Fusion 2® to create their own video game. A platform game is a sidescrolling, Mario-type game where students program characters and a two-dimensional obstacle course. They attempt to avoid or overcome enemies and reach an end goal on multiple levels. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they create.

During the Mechanical Engineering days, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems. Students learn basics of fluid mechanics, simple machines, and other design and engineering concepts while constructing roller coasters, egg-drop vehicles, and an incredibly fast air powered dragster they keep at the end of the course.

Launch your agility, field skills and overall game preparation. These clinics are great for rookie players to learn fundamentals and for experienced players to polish their skills. Participants are required to bring their own glove; all other equipment provided. Bring your own equipment if preferred. Water bottle and small snack are recommended.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL PREP CLINICS

Children will be broken down into age appropriate groups and will work on position specific fundamentals, through drills and various training techniques used to enhance athletic performance. This is a minimal to noncontact camp but we will 7-14 yrs/ 5 Days / $69 provide your child with a mouth guard at Ballenger Creek Park-Field #1 & 2 the 1st session.
