5v5 and/or 7v7 recreational league for girls ages 7-14 years. Our teams are coached by experienced local coaches. Team placement is based on age and skill level. Our coaches focus on stick work, passing, shooting, and offensive/defensive (marking) techniques.

NEW! ARENA FLAG FOOTBALL

Youth CO-ED Flag Football continues this summer, indoors. 5v5 non-contact league, with teams of up to 10 players. Jersey/team shirt and flag belts are provided. Games will be played indoors on WEEKDAYS at FISC. Practices are held one night/week.

All players are required to wear a mouth guard. Only 1-buddy request/player will be accepted at time of registration, said buddy must also request you. Not all requests are granted. Practices will start June 13th. Game and practice start times may vary and run between 4:50 PM and 9:00 PM (depending on team schedule). Games will start July 5 and are approx. 1-hr in duration. Registration deadline is 5/16.

CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOR ADULTS

Play is 5 vs. 5 with a minimum of 2 females required on field at all times. Maximum of 15 players per team roster. All games are played at Ballenger Creek Park on Tuesday evenings. Format is NFL FLAG rules modified for adults, everyone is eligible to receive passes. League play consists of approximately 8 regular season games and a chance for every team to compete in a post-season playoff tournament. Game times will vary each week depending on team schedule. Registration deadline is 4/1. Full fee must be submitted by at time of registration to secure spot. Team captains will be sent complete information packet and requirements for entire team. Individual sign-ups will be placed on a team by the League Coordinator.

MEN’S 16+ PICK-UP LACROSSE LEAGUE

Do you want to play lacrosse in the offseason? Body-Checking is NOT allowed in this league. League play will be limited to stick checks and minimal (involuntary) body checks. All games will be played on the synthetic turf at Foreman Field on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Games will have In house/officials and all registrants will receive an XL reversible jersey with their pre-paid registration.

Gates to the field open at 6 pm. Goalies are free to play (pre-registration is still required). All athletes must provide their own equipment (helmet, sticks, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, etc.). The county will only provide the goals, referees, and balls for game play. Minors under the age of 18 years must have a parent/guardian waiver completed prior to playing.

Our Instructional Volleyball League is designed for those who are just beginning the great sport of volleyball. No experience is necessary. Instruction will be provided by experienced local volleyball coaches and players. Participants will learn basic player & team skills such as: serving, passing, setting, defense, sportsmanship and having fun. Skill/Drill classes will be offered for the first four weeks and teams will play two games vs. other county teams.

MLB PITCH, HIT & RUN COMPETITION Youth baseball/softball fans will get a chance to showcase their skills at this local event. Scores will be recorded in the categories of pitching, hitting and running. Top scorers in each age group will have the opportunity to advance to a Sectional Competition, where they will compete to advance to the Team Championship hosted by the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards! Each participant must present a copy of Birth Certificate at check-in. This is a free event for boys and girls, ages 7-14 years. No metal spikes are allowed.

Aikido is one of the most modern forms of the Japanese martial arts. It has been called a “gentle” martial art because it uses strictly defensive techniques of evasion, redirection, and immobilization and control an attacker. Aikido focuses on gaining maximum effect from minimum effort. This class is suitable for all people regardless of age, size or gender.

In this traditional Japanese martial art, develop your mind and body while learning how to use a short staff and wooden sword. The focus of ShindoMuso Ryu Jodo is weapon-on-weapon training in pre-arranged forms. There is no sparring during this program.

WATER FUN FOR EVERYONE ENROLLMENT Class enrollment is strictly regulated in order to provide proper teacher/student ratios.

Once a class is filled, no one else will be allowed to register. You may be placed on a waiting list at no cost. If an opening occurs, the first person on the waiting list will be contacted. This does not mean a place will be saved for the participants. Participants on the waiting list are not to come to the first day of class. The pool supervisors reserve the right to move participants from the class they originally enrolled in if there is room and the move merits the best interest of the student.

Participants should be aware that every effort to provide a makeup class will be made.

STUDENT/TEACHER RATIO A student/teacher ratio which provides good safety and instruction is vital to our programs.

In general, we strive to maintain a 5:1 ratio for all classes; however, we cannot guarantee these numbers. Instructors may vary.

APPAREL Cut-off shorts, thongs, street clothes, and sweat pants are prohibited in the pool. Shirts may be worn over appropriate swimming attire. Children that are not toilet trained are required to wear approved swim diapers.

CANCELLATIONS/WEATHER POLICY Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment, mechanical breakdown, low air or water temperature, or schedule change. Every effort to alert you to these cancellations will be made. Frederick County law states that the pool deck must be cleared during thunder and lightning storms. At the first sight of lightning or sound of thunder, the pool will be immediately evacuated.

Swimmers will not be allowed to return to the pool until 30 minutes after the last occurrence of thunder or lightning. Every attempt will be made to continue through the scheduled practice when the weather clears.

LESSON OBSERVATION Please remember all swim instructors are American Red Cross certified with high standards. Please allow them to teach without distraction. A parent seating area will be provided. If you have a concern please wait until the class ends and discuss your concern with the instructor. We strongly encourage parents, if they feel comfortable, to bring kids to swim lessons and exit the pool area until class is close to ending.

SWIMMING LESSONS Which Level is right for my child?

Level 1 is for beginners with little or no experience in the water. To enroll into levels 2-6, students must have completed or at least be able to confidently demonstrate the skills listed in the previous level, including the exit skill requirements.

How many lessons will it take for my child to “swim”?

Learning skills varies among children.

Readiness is influenced by physical development, previous experiences, home environment, parental attitudes, and individual preferences. For most skills, there are simply pre-requisites; activities and leadups that can prepare the child to perform those skills. It may take many lessons before a child can swim independently. Year round practice, regular (supervised) exposure to water and positive encouragement are ways parents can help their child to progress. To make sure your child does learn to swim well, be sure they complete the entire learn-toswim program.

MONOCACY RIVER - GUIDED PADDLE TRIPS

Have you ever wanted to take a canoe trip on the Monocacy River with a park ranger?

Monocacy National Battlefield and Frederick Co. Parks and Recreation are offering a limited number of guided canoe tours this summer, which will allow paddlers to experience the Battlefield and surrounding historical areas in a unique way. While on the river, rangers and recreation naturalists will talk about the natural and cultural history surrounding the battlefield. Paddlers will likely see a variety of wildlife while on the tour.

Learn the basics of navigating a canoe, enjoy lunch on the river bank, and meet new friends all while navigating part of the Monocacy River water trail. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration deadline is Wednesday, August 12th. 5v5 non-contact league, with teams of up to 10 players. Jersey and flag belts are provided. Games will be played on Saturdays at County park fields. Volunteer coaches are vital to the operation of this program. Anyone that wishes to volunteer must contact ktapley@frederickcountymd.gov Practices are held one night/week at the selection of the head coach. All players are required to wear a mouth guard. Only 1-buddy request/player will be accepted at time of registration, said buddy must also request you. Not all requests are granted. Practices will start in late March at the discretion of the coach. Game times vary between 9:00 am-4:00 pm (depending on team schedule). Drop-In Programs

Players of all abilities and levels are welcome for drop-in programs. There is no formal instruction and all necessary equipment is provided. The Center Coordinator will monitor drop-in programs. All participants must sign a waiver and code of conduct agreement upon entering a drop-in program for the first time. $2 per person per program per day. No organized team practices. No drop in programs in August.

All ages are welcome, unless otherwise noted. Children under eight years of age must be supervised by an adult. One adult may supervise up to six children.

Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Preregistration required unless otherwise indicated.

DISCIPLINE The Division has a discipline policy for program participants. In the event the participant is asked to leave a program/facility, no refund will be issued.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION Confirmation sent via e-mail, otherwise your cancelled check or credit card statement is your receipt. You will be notified if there is a problem processing your registration or if the program is cancelled. Please make a note of your program start date.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) The Division is committed to providing accessibility for individuals with disabilities and strives to provide equal, integrated participation in all programs, activities, and services. The Division’s policy is to reasonably accommodate all qualified program applicants in accordance with the 1990 ADA. We welcome questions, comments, and concerns of interested citizens regarding ADA compliance.

REFUND POLICY Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. Registrations that require advanced tickets are not refundable. Refunds for Sport League registrations must be made prior to the listed league registration deadline. There are no refunds for missed sessions.

PROGRAM CREDITS/TRANSFERS To avoid the administrative fee, a customer may transfer into another program with no additional fee. A credit may also be kept on the customer account at no additional charge. Requests for both credits and transfers can only be made 5 or more business days prior to the program start date. There are no refunds of credits.

RETURNED CHECKS A $25 fee will be charged for checks returned for non-payment.

AGE POLICY Program participants must be the advertised age for a program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make the instruction consistent and safe.

TRIPS ALCOHOL POLICY We strive to have a family atmosphere on our trips. If you choose to drink alcohol while on one of our trips please do so responsibly and make arrangements to have a designated driver for your trip home from the bus drop off area.

Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules.
