Summer Camp Reminders
Camper Health Profile
Frederick County Parks and Recreation uses CampDoc to collect camper health information online. Each camper must have a completed health profile in CampDoc to attend camp. You only need to fill out one profile per camper for the entire 2026 camp season, and it only needs to be completed once. If your child needs medication during camp hours, you must download and complete the Medication Authorization Form in CampDoc. Staff cannot accept any medications until all required forms are completed. You will receive an email with instructions on how to create your CampDoc profile before camp begins.
Helpful Tips:
• Your information saves automatically as you enter it, so you do not have to finish the health profile in one sitting.
• You can move between sections by using the “Previous Step” and “Next Step” buttons at the bottom of the page, or by clicking the section names on the right side of the page.
About Our Camp Staff
Camp staff are carefully selected for their skills, enthusiasm, and ability to work well with children. They receive training on safety procedures, expected behavior, and how to plan and lead activities. By state law, all staff complete background checks and are certified in CPR and First Aid. All camp directors are 21 years of age or older.
Camp Deposits
A $25 deposit is required for each camper, for each week of camp. This deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred. The deposit holds your child’s spot in the camp. The remaining balance must be paid in full by 4:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2026. If full payment is not received by this deadline, your child’s registration will be cancelled. Any registrations made after May 29, 2026 must be paid in full at the time of registration.
This policy applies to the following full-day camps:
• Monocacy Day Camp • History Camp
• Catoctin Creek Nature Camp • Teen Camp
• Fountain Rock Nature Camp
Signing Campers In/Out
A parent, guardian, or other authorized adult age 18 or older must sign campers in and out each day. Photo identification is required at pick-up. Staff will check ID for anyone picking up a child.
Late Pickup Policy
If a parent or authorized adult arrives late to pick up a child, a late fee of $1.00 will be charged for every 3 minutes past the scheduled pick-up time.
What to Bring to SUMMER CAMP
To help your camper have a great experience, please follow these guidelines. Label all belongings and place personal items in a bag or backpack. Cell phones and electronic devices may be kept in backpacks but must stay turned off during camp. We strongly discourage sending these items to camp.

Clothing: Dress comfortably in clothing that can get messy.
Shoes:
Closed-toe shoes are required. Please do not send your child to camp in open-toed shoes or sandals.
Snacks & Lunch: Pack a peanut-free snack and lunch. Lunches must be non-perishable as refrigeration is not available.
Water Bottle:
Send a reusable, labeled water bottle to keep your camper hydrated.
Swimsuit & Towel: Bring a swimsuit and towel on designated days (as noted in the camp newsletter). Items should be able to get messy.
Sunscreen & Bug Spray: Apply sunscreen and bug spray before arrival.
Look for the Icons!
Throughout the Summer Camp Program Guide, you’ll notice icons next to each program description. These icons correspond to the categories above and serve as a quick reference for what your camper will need to bring each day. Whether it’s a swimsuit for water activities, closed-toe shoes for outdoor play, or a peanut-free snack, these visual reminders will help ensure your camper is always prepared for fun and adventure!
Adaptive, Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Options
Frederick County Parks and Recreation (FCPR) Summer Camps are designed to be welcoming, supportive, and fun so every child has the chance to succeed and enjoy their camp experience.
What is Adaptive & Therapeutic Recreation?
Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers adaptive and therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. These programs are designed for people with different abilities and needs and provide more structure and support when needed. Trained staff, smaller group sizes, and adapted spaces, materials, and activities help create an inclusive environment where everyone can participate and have fun.
What is Inclusion?
Inclusion at Frederick County Parks and Recreation means people with disabilities or who need extra support are welcome to take part in all programs and activities with others their age. When needed, reasonable accommodations or modifications are provided with support from our Adaptive Recreation Team. These supports are based on each person’s needs and abilities so everyone can participate and enjoy our programs.
What are Examples of Reasonable Accommodations?
To help participants succeed, we may offer accommodations such as inclusion support staff, companions, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, visual communication tools, extra staff training, adaptive equipment or supplies and activity changes that do not alter the program. We may also use individualized strategies to support each participant’s success.
www.recreater.com/AR
How do I Request an Accommodation?
To request an accommodation:
1. Register for the program, camp or event.
2. Check “yes” that you are requesting an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation.
3. AR staff will contact the parent/guardian to complete a Program Accommodation Form and return the completed form to our Adaptive Recreation (AR) team at 355 Montevue Lane, Suite 100, Frederick, Maryland 21702 or via email.

4. Once the Program Accommodation Form is received, AR staff will reach out to the parent/ guardian to set up a time to review the request and develop individualized strategies for success. If you have questions, please contact Nicole Cantwell at 240-357-1453
Please Note: Accommodation Requests must be received at least two weeks prior to the program start date.
What Services are Not Part of Inclusion?
Inclusion services do not include the following:
• Being in a separate area or participating in alternate activities for the majority of the program.
• Exception (with or without accommodations) to minimum compliance with program rules and regulations established for safety purposes.
• Hiring, selection or guaranteed assignment of a specific staff member.
• Individualized therapy within a program.
• Provision and/or purchase of personal custom devices.
Is an Inclusive Setting the Right Choice?
Before registering, please consider the program and ask yourself:
• If your child is school-aged, do their current school activities or goals help prepare them for an inclusive recreation program?
• Has the participant shown interest in the activity or topic of the program?
• Are they comfortable and able to participate, with or without support, in shared settings like malls, restaurants or parks?
• Will an accommodation or inclusion support staff provide enough support for the participant to fully take part in the program without disrupting others?
What are the Minimum Requirements for Successful Inclusion?
The same basic requirements apply to everyone, with or without a disability. These include:
• Meeting the program’s age and registration requirements.
• Following program rules, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Choosing to participate. Recreation programs are voluntary. Staff will encourage and support participation, but no one will be forced to take part.
• Being able to participate in scheduled activities for most of the program time, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Using a consistent way to communicate basic needs and follow simple directions.
• Being able to take part in a group of 12 or more people, with assistance if needed.
Program Levels and Essential Eligibility Criteria
Frederick County Parks and Recreation’s Adaptive Recreation (AR) Team uses program levels and basic eligibility requirements to help keep participants and staff safe and to make sure everyone can get the most out of each program. Each level describes the minimum physical and thinking skills needed to participate.
• Level 1 programs may include outdoor adventure programs, elite sports programs and gymnastics.
• Level 2 programs may include general day camps, enrichment programs, history programs, nature programs, preschool programs, instructional sports programs, social groups, fitness programs and most adaptive recreation programs.
• Level 3 programs may include adaptive recreation summer camps and some adaptive sports programs.
• Level 4 programs may include special events, adaptive parent/child programs, and adaptive open gym programs.
