Recrear Partnerships & Development Director (global)

Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) Term: One year term, renewable for a second year.

About Recrear - http://www.recrearinternational.org/ Recrear is a Canadian charity composed of a network of young professionals from around the world. By designing and implementing participatory, action-oriented youth led research projects, we work to create a space for young people to use their imagination and energy to transform their communities.

Responsibility The Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) is first and foremost responsible for seeking out opportunities - through partnerships, grants, projects and other opportunities- that support or expand Recrear’s international work.

Primary Duties In addition to the duties of every Board member, the Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) is responsible for: ●

Building relationships with possible partners for Recrear across the global NGO sector

Searching for funding opportunities around the world, and particularly in areas of regional focus for the organization (Currently Colombia)

● Searching for opportunities to partner on or bid for projects ● Assisting with grant proposals ●

Sharing Recrear’s work with relevant networks and organizations

around the

world, especially those sharing an interest in youth work, civil society building and research ●

Seeking out opportunities to showcase Recrear’s work (conferences etc.)

Qualifications The Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) should have: ●

A commitment to, passion for, and a clear understanding of the mission of Recrear

● ●

Knowledge of the non-profit sector, particularly an overall understanding of trends in the international development NGO sector worldwide Familiarity with grant writing in the international development space

●

Sufficient time to devote to his/her primary duties

Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members 1. Attend at least 5 of the 6 board meetings held each year (meetings take place online) 2. Participate in fundraising events and campaigns 3. Deliver at least 1 workshop/session on a topic related to the Board member's’ area of expertise 4. Commit a total commitment of around ten hours each month (including meetings, consultation, communications, special events) 5. Be willing to participate in relevant working committees (when such are created) and attend associated meetings 6. Provide mentoring support to staff related to the Board member’s area of expertise 7. Utilize personal network and associated partners to leverage value-added opportunities for Recrear 8. Make a personal donation to Recrear every year that is thoughtful, proportionate and generous for the member’s possibility.

9. Act in the best interest of Recrear and excuse oneself from discussions when there is a conflict of interest.

10. Offer 3 months’ notice in the event that the member needs to leave the Board mid-term.

11. Be responsible for contributing to and preparing the annual Board Report Accountability The Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) is accountable to the Recrear’s Board of directors for their performance.

Authority The Strategic Partnerships and Development Director (Global) may not, on behalf of Recrear, enter into contracts without the knowledge and approval of the Board and/or the Executive Committee of the board (including the Executive Director)
