Recrear Gender y g e t a str for global youth

Gender Manifesto At RECREAR, we believe in an expansive gender philosophy stimulated by human rights and sustainable development, a set of human values that transcend cultural diversity and uncommon grounds. Our strategy is built specifically to address various types of needs and shortcomings in the youth sector, accepting that education and equality mainstreaming at an early age can combat gender-gap related problems.

As an international platform of young social innovators we are committed to foster personal identity and self-determination, to promote equality regardless of race, gender, class, religion or any other factor that might result in a disproportionate access to claiming rights, resources and opportunities.

We distinguish gender identity and expression from sexual preferences and we are devoted to empower young people everywhere to embrace their own personal orientation. Our activities and projects will reflect an inclusive open space where young people will gracefully and respectfully challenge genderism, combat sexism and enhance the growth of their communities by advocating for the unity, dignity and respect of all individuals.

Goal Our goal is to entrust young people to identify transformative measures that would target their gender-related needs and to analyze ways to transform public attitudes and behaviors towards gender stereotypes.

In our workshops and participatory activities we are concerned with youths' routines, values and personal ambitions and we are eager to diagnose systemic gender barriers that influence the way the young generation approaches success and personal development.

In order to achieve our goals we are committed to ensure equal participation of young men and women but this task can prove difficult in societies or small groups where women feel less comfortable expressing themselves and assuming authority positions. This proves the existence of an extensive need for challenging gender dynamics and encouraging young women to overcome stereotypical assertions.

Gender Gap Agenda

Recrear believes that change is a personalized experience and in order to change our community, we must first work on changing ourselves. We encourage young people to become introspective and realize the consequences of gender in their lives. Only after we personalize change, it can become sustainable and long lasting.

IDENTIFY

BYPASS

DEVELOP

We believe in a self-engagement and inquisitorial approach to change and we are determined to IDENTIFY gender barriers, BYPASS them through a youth vision and gather collective personalized ideals that would create a perpetual social ADVANCEMENT.

By applying this approach in our participatory activities, we want youth to achieve resilience and self-confidence. We want women and men to self-advocate and use proactive techniques that would positively impact their communities. We believe that resilience is built by giving an adequate answer to social adversity and by connecting with communities that are actively engaged in transforming ideals.

In our future participatory gender exercises we will focus on the following questions that we think will help our members understand and revise gender dynamics: What is gender and how does it affect me? What has been the role of the public and private sector in constructing my gender identity? What gender implications can I identify in my short and long-term goals? How can I overcome gender barriers and stereotypes? What does it take for a collective transformation of gender dynamics? What changes might be needed to increase gender balance or social inclusion?

PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH FOCUS AREAS Aside from our direct interaction with young people, we are determined to include gender in all our participatory research projects in an attempt to overcome the absence of sex disaggregated data used by decision makers to measure development. Our main areas of focus are: GENDER ROLES IN THE YOUTH SECTOR YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND LEADERSHIP YOUTH + LGBT POLICY ANALYSIS GENDER ROLES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES GENDER IN CONFLICT AND POST-CONFLICT URBAN AND RURAL GENDER DYNAMICS

PRINCIPLES Operating under the same key principles, our gender strategy will reflect: Inclusiveness: We feel that every person has valuable insight and skills that used to advance gender equality and dynamics. We work to make sure youths' voices can be articulated and have a channel to be heard beyond social gender background. We believe that parents and guardians are also important actors in our gender reform and we are committed to hearing their voices.

Diversity: We operate under the premise that gender diversity is imperative to yielding creative and powerful initiatives that have the potential to transform a community and society. We encourage diversity in experience, personality, nationality, and belief within our networks. Collaboration: We believe in the importance of bridging the missions of like-minded individuals and organizations to work together in fulfilling our shared visions. We seek collaborations with all types of private and public actors that are committed to the same gender ideals.

Community: We are committed to learning from every interaction with our network. We utilize our community to maximize the effectiveness and impact of all of our projects.

Reflection: We don't just do, we think and reflect on every step we take. We strive to be an organization that can contribute critically to the international development discourse. We are an echo chamber for young people's visions and ideas

ACTORS We believe that everyone can be an active actor in the transformation of gender dynamics. Young people are actors in the sense that they are constructing the fundamental ideas of future gender interactions. Adults are also actors in their roles as models, caregivers and teachers. We will focus on facilitating an honest and productive communication between the young generation and their parents, guardians and teachers in order to make them adjust their gender expectations while providing them with the right tools in order to expand the gender awareness of their communities.
