Wallingford firefighter abatement ordinance

AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 203, TAXATION, ARTICLE VI, ABATEMENT FOR MEMBERS OF VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS, OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF WALLINGFORD BE IT ENACTED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL IN SESSION:

That Chapter 203, Taxation, Article VI, Abatement for Members of Volunteer Fire Departments, is hereby AMENDED as follows:

1. Add the following as the last sentence to ยง203-14, Definitions, "Volunteer": Volunteer includes members volunteering in Wallingford and living outside of the town who otherwise qualify for the Abatement.

2. Amend ยง203-15, Abatement, by replacing the schedule with the following: For 2020 and 2021: Years of Service 1-4

5-6 7-9 10 or more

Abatement $500.00 $750.00 $1,000.00 $1,500.00

For 2022 and thereafter: Years of Service 1-4

5-6 7-9 10 or more

Abatement $750.00 $1,000.00 $1,250.00 $1,500.00 (or $2,000.00)

3. Amend ยง203.18, Eligibility, by replacing the word "resident" with "volunteer".
