Rockfall resident No. 1 at Xavier Rockfall resident Aidan Higgins is valedictorian of the Xavier High School Class of 2022. Among his many honors and distinctions, the Harvard-bound scholar is a National Merit Scholarship finalist, a member of six honor societies, and was enrolled in six Advanced Placement classes this year. Still, he found time to participate in the Philosophy Club and the Ryken Service Society, and to serve as Editorin-Chief of the school newspaper, The Kestrel.

Latin teacher had busy year — and she loved it By Nicole Zappone Town Times

This school year, veteran educator Katy Reddick took on a new challenge — teaching Latin at both Strong Middle School and Coginchaug Regional High School. Also, she managed to resurrect the Latin Club which had faded away.

Aidan Higgins is valedictorian of the Xavier High School Class of 2022.

“Katy is an extremely talented and versatile Latin teacher,” Superintendent of Schools Doug Schuch said, pointing out that Reddick “has allowed us to continue to offer multiple levels of Latin programming on both campuses.”

Also, Higgins founded KeepUp News, a website he runs, and he started Xavier’s chapter of the Surfrider Club, a national organization that fights for coastal preservation, clean water, and plastic-free marine environments.

Reddick, who has taught in the district since 2008, enjoyed pulling double-duty this year. “All of the high school students had taken Latin in middle school, so I al-

Long-time Town Clerk Golub resigns Donna M. Golub has resigned as Middlefield/Rockfall’s Town Clerk. In a letter emailed to the Town Times, Golub states, “It is with sadness that I have resigned my position as Town Clerk as of

May 13th. I have served the residents of this community for over 23 years and have enjoyed every moment.” Golub’s assistant, Tonya Hogan, has taken over as Town Clerk. “I will be staying on as Tonya’s assistant

until the end of this November at which time I will retire,” Golub wrote. “I leave the Town Clerk’s office in very capable hands,” she said, pointing out that Hogan is a “Certified Connecticut Town Clerk.”
