Town close to filling high-profile positions by Michael Savino Special to the Town Times

The Town of Durham is close to filling a group of high profile vacancies, including the addition of a new Finance Director. The Town has also entered temporary agreements for Town Planner and sanitarian services, deals that could be extended to cover the full year. On Friday, Aug. 11, at the Durham Community Center on Pickett Lane, the Durham Senior Citizens Board sponsored a Potluck Summer Get Together. Everyone attending was asked to bring a dish to share. Lyman Orchards to host St. Jude’s festival Lyman Orchards will serve as the venue for the 30th Annual Fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, hosted by the St. Jude Connecticut Network. The musical festival will take place this Saturday, Aug. 26, from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Apple Barrel Farm Market. The event will feature free live music from various local bands and performers. Festival-goers will have the option to purchase craft beer from the beer garden and a bite to eat from food trucks. “We are so thrilled to be the home of the 30th Annual Music Festival and to share this day of fun activities and excitement with so many families,” stated Lyman Orchards Executive
