16TH ANNUAL RACE

The 16th annual Petit Family 5K Road Race will take place Sunday, July 16 in Plainville. The race starts at 9 a.m. Visit PetitRoadRace.com for additional information. All proceeds from the race support the work of the Petit Family Foundation, which honors the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit and Michaela Rose Petit by continuing the kindness, idealism and activism that defined their lives. On behalf of the Petit Family 5K Road Citizen photo Race, the foundation has awarded more than $4.5 million in grants to programs and projects all over Connecticut, and beyond.

New leadership at Plainville High

SOUTHINGTON — Arts and crafts are not the only thing you’ll find at the Southington Community Cultural Arts Center. On the upper floor of the building is the studio of Andrew Love, a Broadway performer and vocalist who has appeared in shows across the country. Love now runs his vocal coaching business out of the Main Street arts center. His experience in the entertainment industry spans musical theater and opera, and even several symphony concerts

as a soloist. Some of his credits include taking on the role of Doug Hansen in “Everest,” DancaÏre in “Carmen,” and Charlie in the Calgary Opera production of See Coach, A12

Plainville High School assistant principal Jennifer DeLorenzo was named principal of the high school in June, replacing Carl Johnson, who accepted a position outside of the school district. DeLorenzo began her career as a math teacher at Plainville High in 2001, served as a mathematics instructional leader at the school, and became assistant principal in 2019. See Leadership, A7
