October 20,2008 Paul Marciniak, Cheshire Postmaster General U_S. Postal Service 210 Maple Avenue Cheshire, CT 06410 Dear Mr. Marciniak, As you can see from the attached letter sent to Town Manager Michael A.

Milone, there are concerns in the Cheshire business community regarding the delivery

of the mail. The Town of Cheshire and the Cheshire Town Council share these

concerns.

It appears that, several months ago, mail delivery times were changed significantly. In addition, there was no notice to customers that these changes were being made, nor was any explanation offered. The delay in delivery has created problems for local businesses, and the lack of notice resulted in unnecessary confusion. We have received complaints from our resident constituents as well. In addition, the lack of notice and absence of any explanation shows a disturbing disregard for the customers of the postal service. This issue was discussed at our October 14, 2008 Council Meeting, and we agreed to write to you asking for an explanation on the rationale for the change in delivery schedules, as well as the why the Postal Service did not notify their customers of these changes. We thank you in advance for clarifying the reC'.ent changes, and the reasons for said changes and lacK of notice. We are hopeful that we can find a solution to this issue that satisfies postal customers and meets the needs of your organization as well. Very truly yours,

c:

Michael A. Milone, Town Manager Sheldon Dill, Cheshire Chamber of Commerce President
