THERAPY MODES

With MOTOmed active/passive alternation you achieve optimal training results. With alternating stress and recovery phases (intervals) higher training stimuli can be achieved during active and passive MOTOmed training which leads to increased therapy success.

PASSIVE

Smooth movement of the whole body. Comforting with muscle tension and joint symptoms, loosens muscles and supports blood circulation. You can regulate the movement speed on your own.

ASSISTIVE

Easy transition from passive to active training with residual muscle strength. Motivation programs support the training with playful stimuli.

ACTIVE

Active movement. You determine how long and with which resistance level you train. Scientific based therapy programs support you.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

MOTOmed Movement Therapy was developed for people with movement disorders and supplements physical, occupational and therapeutical measures. Users can train from a wheelchair or chair. Patients in supine position train with MOTOmed from nursing bed or therapy couch.

MOVEMENT IN SITTING POSITION

MOTOmed Movement in sitting position optimally supplements sports and movement therapy in medical facilities, strengthens leg, trunk, arm, upper body and shoulder muscles, supports blood circulation and strengthens auxiliary respiratory muscles.

MOVEMENT ON THERAPY COUCH

People can train the lower and upper extremities passively, motorassisted and actively on a therapy couch. Especially for dialysis patients, it is scientifically proven that dialysis effectiveness can be increased through active MOTOmed training.

MOVEMENT IN NURSING BED

Early mobilization with MOTOmed stimulates the cardiovascular system, supports joint flexibility and preventive measures (e.g. thrombosis, pneumonia, drop-foot, obstipation) and can accelerate the healing process whereby duration of inpatient stays in the ICU can be shortened and costs can be reduced. 27

Depending on the MOTOmed model, different therapy programs with preset training phases are available: standard, strength endurance, loosening, coordination, Parkinson’s, stroke, multiple sclerosis, neurology, orthopedics and cardiology. Individual training programs can be created by the user.

SERVOCYCLING

Just as a bicycle with a motor, the MOTOmed function ServoCycling supports the user in the execution of active movements. Even with minimal muscle strength active training becomes possible due to this function. Residual muscle strength is detected and built up without overstraining.

TRAINING FEEDBACK

All MOTOmed models give feedback in real time regarding training distance, symmetry, total metabolic rate, tone, active performance and the active/ passive training proportion during and after training.

SYMMETRY TRAINING

The SymmetryTraining is effective whenever it comes to strengthening the weaker side. An animated character supports users to use the weaker side during training. SymmetryTraining also prevents the healthy extremities from overstraining.

GAMES AND VIDEOS

Popular and encouraging: therapeutic games. The interaction of affective and physical performance determines the course of the game. Depending on the MOTOmed model the user can choose between the motivation games Billy Balance , Lilly Lane and Multi Task, as well as MOTOMax and TRAMPOLINEMax. The MOTOmed muvi additionally offers videos with music for relaxation.

SMOOTHDRIVESYSTEM

Muscle tensions and pains are reduced with this MOTOmed function. Our solution is based on a smooth belt drive system which enables consistent movement patterns. Due to this gentle drive technology an increased tone can be eased and loosened.

MOVEMENT PROTECTION

In case of a muscle cramp, spasticity or a simple movement freeze during the course of the training, this function automatically stops the pedals from movement. No matter how the muscle tension changes, the MovementProtector does not remain constant but automatically adjusts to any change. This makes it optimally gentle at all times.

SPASMCONTROL

Legs and arms are relieved and the direction of rotation is switched following a brief resting period. This function is based on the therapeutic principle (antagonistic inhibition), that a bending spasm is loosened by stretching, while a stretching spasm is loosened by bending.

INSERTION AID

The MOTOmed function insertion aid facilitates the insertion of the feet into the foot shells before starting the training. By pushing a button on the display users can steplessly move the foot shells into a suitable position.

The MOTOmed muvi enables simultaneous training of legs, arms and upper body whereby the therapy effect is increased. Since the training time per patient can be reduced up to 50 % as a result the therapy effort is decreased as well. Thus, MOTOmed supports cost conscious planning and efficient conduction of movement therapy.

The comprehensive MOTOmed training requires up to 80 % of the active skeletal muscles, improves muscle strength and flexibility and trains the cardiovascular system. The intelligent MOTOmed movement control reacts immediately and directly to the user. Legs and arms can be moved in different modes (speed, resistance) similar to independent movement. A comprehensive sense of movement can be achieved even with a restricted musculoskeletal system and the coordination of weakened extremities is improved.
