LCC Archery Regional Tournament

As usual, the Letcher County Central archery team has brought home wins and pride. With relentless practice and discipline in honing their skills, they remain the best of the best and it is showing at this recent tournament.

Held at North Laurel High school in London, Ky, the KHSAA Regional Tournament is an important event to our archers as it decides who goes to state and reflects where we stand in our region compared to other schools.

Matthew Taylor: Coach of the Year

Our very own Matthew Taylor was named KHSAA 14th Region Coach of the Year.

Matthew Taylor led the Cougars to the winningest record in school history with a record of 2211. Coach Taylor got his players back in the gym not too long after the season had ended and is planning to be even better next year.

With more pressure than ever, LCC archers decided to show up and stand out with exceptional results, with a special shoutout to Gracie Caudill, who shot a 290. Placing 3rd overall, the boys worked hard and in result achieved top 3. For the girls, they went above and beyond and rightfully snagged first place. So, with pride, our archer girls will be moving on to compete on the state level. Let’s show our support as a community to cheer on our LCC archery team to greatness.

Peyton Dixon: State Rebounding Leader

Letcher County Central Cougar junior Peyton Dixon was honored as the State of Kentucky’s leading rebounder this season. Dixon pulled down 364 rebounds or an average of 15.2 rebounds per game for the Cougar boys this season.
