“The Energy is Returning” TO THE REAL ESTATE MARKET Jonathan and Angela-Marie, As the pandemic forced us to “stay home,” the last thing on most people’s minds has been real estate. Rightly so, we have been more concerned with the safety of our friends and family and coping with our new way of life. Planned shopping, meals and watching the news to track the daily count of new cases became the daily grind. With the opening now underway, we are seeing the energy return to our lovely town of Oakville. More people are out and about, and it feels as though we are on the path toward a new normal. From a real estate perspective, the number of homes sold in Southeast Oakville for the first five months of 2020 was down 50% from 2019. The good news is prices in Southeast have held strong with the average home in Southeast Oakville selling for 4.5% higher than last year. The best news is that buyers are returning to the market and new listings are popping up. Since March 12th, calls to our brokerage are up 440% and showings +390%! As for sales, the last week of May was the third best week of the year! Proactively adopting new COVID-19 strategies and protocols to ensure the safety of our clients and team has been our primary focus. Having done so, we are well prepared to answer any questions you may have regarding the real estate market and where it is today and moving forward.
