The Coyote Presence is Increasing. Do You Know What to Do? COYOTE MANAGEMENT PLAN & REPORTING

DRAFT COYOTE MANAGEMENT PLAN The City’s Coyote Management Plan has been modeled on plans used by other cities and has been reviewed by representatives from the Irvine Ranch Conservancy. We believe that the Plan reflects good science and established research relating to coyotes in urban environments, while also recognizing that some coyotes may have to be euthanized depending on reported behaviors.

The Plan includes education and hazing protocols, steps to remove attractants to coyotes and includes more aggressive hazing approaches undertaken by animal control officers and/or trained volunteer hazing teams should conditions warrant these approaches. If this Plan is to succeed, it requires everyone’s cooperation - the City’s animal control officers and our residents.

As always, the City’s goal is to protect our residents and our beloved pets,

while attempting to change coyote behaviors that bring coyotes too close to our urban environment in search of food and water.
