ONE BENNETT PARK
This is the park at the end of North Water Street. The center of the park has been cleaned of thorium and the perimeter will be completed by the end of 2019. The new seawall will be installed this fall in order to shore up the walls for the contamination cleanup of the perimeter. The Flyover Bridge, phases two and three, are moving forward and should also be completed by the end of 2019. These are major accomplishments which have been discussed for nearly 30 years!
This new park, located between Illinois Street and Grand Avenue will be completed and open in June/July of 2019. It will be a fenced dogfriendly area as well as a children’s playground along with The Grove which will be a peaceful place to sit and people watch! OGDEN PLAZA This is the Plaza along Columbus Drive, South of Illinois Street. The plans to redo this entire plaza are currently on hold. Alderman Reilly is working on trying to negotiate a deal with all parties.
